No one hated it until Redditmatosis' video

I've never played it or any souls for that matter but hbombercuck endorsed it so it must be shit

I don't know who that is but DS2 is shit

nobody hates it at all but nintendo marketers.

Oh wow a DS2 thread, I wonder what could have possibly prompted you to post this today, at this time.

you along with 90% of all other zoomers weren't around back then when it dropped and the hugely negative backlash was there right from the first second.

Nigger you were like 5 when this came out. Everyone thought it was mediocre at best when it came out, many hated it for it's many shittily designed areas. And no having kind of fun PvP and builds doesn't save it. PvP in souls games is dogshit anyway. 99% of the game is about its solo or co-op experience, which is worse than all the other souls games.

I hated it because I played it at launch and somehow scholar managed to be a worse version of the game Ihad played years prior

The majority of the souls demographic are zoomers pre ER and even DaS3 era.

so?

Sure thing Redditz0

Player is being granted right off the bat by worse animations, worse controls, adaptability, a vapid and opaque healing system, worse world design, boring enemies ( all undead soldiers ) with boring placements, and boring ugly and anything but spectacular bosses

HUUUR DUUURRRR YOU HATE IT BECAUSE MUH ECELEBS

kys

I hated it almost immediately when I played it back then and I didn't know who Matthewmetastasis was, nor did I partecipate in the online fanbase discussions so I had no idea if people liked it or not.

People /here/ complained about it nonstop. Halitosis was just pandering to Anon Babble for a quick buck.

You had to be there. Journalists "missed out" with DeS and DaS, and DaS exploded in popularity. No one was gonna seem like a "casual fake gamer" by giving the highly anticipated Dark Souls 2 a bad score.

Troons are reverting back to old habits due to tragic recent events. We might as well start seeing Tranny Vegas spam once again.

Yahtzee spelled out why this is bad pretty succinctly

bosses are just dudes in armor except for the guy who was pulled from diablo in the Iron keep

elevator goes to the sky volcano

plot makes no sense even for a dark souls game

the pursuer....fights you like twice then fucks off forever

I'm a Zoomer and have played all 3 Souls games, and I don't really love any of them.
They're fun, high quality, but they're just not my favorites. I have the most fun on DS2 since I actually prefer it's coop system and I don't really mind Soul Memory as a mechanic since I don't play PvP.

I give this game a 10/10 because of that troll door in Sinner's Rise where the game animates you opening it and after one step you fall to your death
I went to the hospital choking from lafter when I saw a streamer fall for it.
I would do it again

The best part of ds2 during release was the increase in online players, making fight clubs dope as shit. also true fashion souls began.

Gameplay wise you are forced to move at a slugs pace so you don't end up getting ganked by enemies. Many areas were unbearable because while trying to avoid/dodge stronger tanky enemies you activated 2 more around the corner.

Enemy placement was dog shit and prevented people from exploring. inb4 git gud. beat ng+ alone. at that point I was running past a lot of enemies because it was just so fucking annoying to fight EVERYONE

Would the torch mechanic have saved the game? Y/N

gameplay wise you are forced to move at a slug's pace

when you got gud you ran past most enemies

Think about that

DS2 is the best one

Shut hbomb

make game about grinding

punish player for grinding

Hmmm.

Give Bloodborne a try, zoomie. It's a very different animal.

He didn't hate it either. If you actually watched the video near the end he explicitly said that he'd rather play Dark Souls II than pretty much anything that released that year. Dark Souls II's problem was that it took things that worked about the first game and made them not work. You can point out the flaws in things you enjoy retard

Are you crying about undead soldiers in a game where being undead is a central theme? By the way undead asylum was the exact same thing so shut the fuck up

its fucking true. You realized it was a waste of time. That Doesn't mean me or anyone else is bad at the game for running past basic shit. When you first begin playing you want to challenge yourself, so you take on everyone. After doing that a few 100 times you begin to avoid the BS. and go to the real shit. Picture related.

nope.

I did try it, I didn't feel like buying a PS4 so I jewed my way into a PSNow subscription and played until Rom, got bored of it. I already disliked DS3 the most, so the shared DNA between BB and DS3 just made it a sour experience. I'm not overly fond of the faster pace or the story, either. I don't care for Lovecraftian shit and the gameplay was somewhat refreshing but only for a little while, it suffers from all the problems DS3 does, imo.

Fume Knight was FromSoft Boss mechanics perfected. No boss since has captured what made that fight work so well, not to mention no boss has been as difficult since.

holy fuck dark souls 2's style is so fucking garish and generic its fucking unreal. it sometimes just catches me by surprise again after all these years. it should have just been set in the kings field world or something because i refuse to believe this is the same world as DS1.

the pursuer....fights you like twice then fucks off forever

You can encounter him twice in Forest of Fallen Giants. He is near the coffin in Things Betwixt. He is in Lost Bastille (after the bird transportation) when you try to open a metal chest. He is in Lost Bastille when you reach it via No Man's Wharf, the area with undead enemies and dogs. I think he's also in one area behind the hidden wall in Bastille, as well as the area near Smelter Demon in lava castle.
So it's more than twice.

Until Rom The Vacuous.

Did you manage to beat him?

20937402934.png - 1000x563, 751.04K

Doesn't matter. He was advertised as the Souls version of Mr X who would chase you relentlessly and that was simply...not true.

lmao literally any boss from sekiro and bloodborne mogs it. also champion gundyr was the perfect Dark Souls boss

Literally not one of those bosses has Fume Knights win ratio.

Fume Knights win ratio

idk what you mean by this

to be honest...it was the blatant cash grab of the series. You're right to have come to that conclusion.

...and Mr. X only follows you in Scenario B, so what's your point?

inb4 not in the remake

And it does matter. He is not pursuing you during the whole game, but why do you have to lie?

Did you manage to beat him?

I got close a few times, but I just wasn't able to dish out enough damage before I ran out of blood vials. The upgrade system wasn't something I really liked, and I really tried to go for a very basic quality build and use the saw cleaver plus bolt paper against her. My issue was DPS, the saw cleaver dishes out loads of it, but Rom just has very high dmg resist it felt like.

You didn't actually play the game if you don't know what I'm talking about.

of course it was. they wanted to cash in in 2014 by having the thumbsucking retards of the B team make that game for that year while miyazaki made bloodborne for 2015. makes sense from a business standpoint, but sucks creatively and quality-wise.

ok, i guess i didn't.

No I always hated it. It's shit.

I'm glad they cut that shit. Could you imagine that silver nigger showing up in the dragon aerie while your barely hanging on as it is.

I hated it and am not familiar with any Reddit video. Not the worst game ever but I would rather play the other games over it.

DLC boss i think. He was designed to take on with two people. He's quick for his size and hits hard. Filtered many.

You know when a company makes games they reuse/update assets. He may very well be the version of many bloodborne,ds3 and seikiro boss movements.

2351757.jpg - 360x207, 29.34K

why are games so obsessed with le lava castles and shit? its so incredibly goofy and uninspired. does anyone actually find this shit cool?

volcano manor.png - 1200x675, 1.72M

i didn't really think he was that hard. the thing that throws you off is that his animations are retarded and they his sword still has an active hurt box even at the end of some of his swing animations where the weapon moves slow as fuck so you'd think it wouldn't hurt you. just yet another janky and badly animated character like all of dark souls 2.

I consider Alonne and Blue Smelter to be harder than Fume, and no, it's not because of runback.

I hope you try again. Camera lock-on is your worst enemy in that fight. The little spiders faces are immune to damage too. dont worry about them too much cause they keep spawning, but stop once a max number is reached. watch a stat optimization video Try and grind 5 levels. apply to dex or str. You can do it anon.

No one can.

Redditmatosis

the same guy that complained about mobs of enemies and didn't consider to turn the lock on off?

yup. they turned the bullshit knob up to 11 with the DLCs

alonne is suppose to fuck you up. I liked it.

Blue smelter fucking pissed of EVERYONE and there mama. that AoE attack was cringe. and on top off that it was another recycle so it stung a little extra when he got you.

C'MON I ALREADY DID THIS! >-<

naw he was right about it. There is a serious lack of enemy attacks you can parry. I'd know.. I actually tried the kill the enemy10+ times to stop them from respawning in the first area.

2 was definitely shit on pretty hard by Anon Babble at release, namely over things like SHOCKWAVES and adaptability. People also lost their minds over Soul Memory - which in hindsight wasn't actually that bad, but no one was willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt due to everything else they were mad about. Anons also hated how gimped the lighting system was, retarded things like setting the windmill on fire, level design and enemy placement, etc. Basically any aspect of the game besides like some enemy designs people were hating on.

It was unanimously agreed upon that "the B team" had worked on 2 while the competent devs were making Bloodborne due to the stark difference in quality and short time between releases.

It wasn't until months after release did people finally start saying good things about it, specifically the PvP being superior to 1's which is debateable imo. But that was still a small minority and many of those anons still had the same complaints as others. The game was basically shit on routinely until Bloodborne came out and people didn't need to talk about 2 anymore, except to shit on it. It took years after 2's release before the DaS2 defense force actually showed up and started saying "well, actually" whenever people rightly shat on the game.

Dark Souls 2 runs at 30 fps

Scholar version runs at 60

Bloodborne runs at 25, drops to 15-16 in chalice dungeons

but Bloodborne is a better game, according to you

If anything, it's Bloodborne who has a defense force, which exists only because the game is still a PS4 exclusive.

kill the enemy10+ times

That was actually one of the better ideas in 2, limiting enemy spawns

drops to 15-16 in chalice dungeons

it drops after killing Rom too

him

This is either really bad bait or someone who has issues.

Damage output isn't as straightforward as you think it is. Against enemy types like Rom, the cleaver weapons only do regular damage. Against beast type enemies, they do enhanced damage. Rom's head is very damge resistant. Hit her in the body. And check out an item called Beast Blood Pellet. They are scarce and for good reason. "Beasthood" is a hidden stat that increases damage dealt, and taken, as it increases. And the cleaver weapons go very well with it.

But enough about 1.

dual wielding class starts with fuck all ADP

ADP in general

everything looks like shit

"ur gonna die and lose a lot all ur souls!!" intro

clunky ass WASD movement even on controller

hit detection from bizarro world

soul memory to induce anxiety long-term over my pvp prospects

I took the day off work to play it on release day. I remember how disappointed I was lmao

1606352062069.jpg - 500x511, 66.03K

sold my ps4 years ago.

Bought a sealed EU copy of Bloodborne with DLC for collecting purposes.

It's just that dope.

3463462346.jpg - 801x1000, 166.85K

Oh right. Where is Japan Studio these days?

no mention of gameplay

ebin

BB struggling to hit 30 fps is a far more fun and enjoyable experience than DaS2 at constant 60 fps.

oh... I get it vacuous. Like a women.

we both know they are gone. Doesn't mean they did bad work. Sony is sony. Money first.

Its literally female

where is vagene? jk I remember reading about it before.

Arguing about which turd tastes best is inane.

where is vagene?

I mean...

lmfao. I wouldn't stick my slug into a single mom. EVER.

No Penguinz0 made a video about it

Horseshit. I bought this day one and it was underwhelming.

The hate is relative. DS2 isn't bad. It's a solid 7/10, but it is far and away the worst souls game. So in comparison to some really great games, an ok game seems way worse and gets a lot more vitriol than an average game would normally get.
