Food gives bonuses to attributes and makes it easier for them to level up.
If you can afford it, you should always feed your pets.

They won't starve to death, but they won't regen health, and they benefit from stat buffs from food so if you can yeah.

They won't regenerate health if they're hungry.

At least add a drop shadow, 2px feathering. It makes the sloppa sprite more readable when you're actually in-game. It breaks the pixel art "purity" but you downscalers don't care about that anyway.

the way this works is that they passively generate resources at the chance you see when you hover on their work icon on the resident board
when you see him fish thats just visual, even if he catches something that isn't yours and he wont deliver that specific fish
the game just invisibly rolls dice at the end of the day, and if you have a shared container that accepts the fish, or meal, or whatever, and the roll is successful, a fish ends up in there. if you don't have a shared container, it ends up in your shipping box.
you'll see the fisher npc fish all day at the pond because thats what a fisher npc in the game does, but you still only have the % chance to get a fish from him that you see on the resident board

you can even have fishermen get you fish if you dont have water on your map or the sign is in a house.

all you need for npcs to work, is what the resident board says when you hover over their work icon, and potentially a shared container to put it in.

Where are you trying to do it?
You can't set up most items in towns or special areas.
For example if you want to cook a meat on the bone in Mysilia and you cant find a NPCs fire or cooking station to do it, you have to go outside and enter a wilderness tile to do it.
Otherwise, I guess just make sure it is in your characters hand, not merely the mouse cursor.

Keep an eye out for rods of uncurse, I don't think they use stats or can fail or I've gotten very lucky despite picking archer.

You can just use a scroll or rod of uncurse instead of trying to cast the spell.

The healers tend to sell scrolls of uncurse which work better. Or you can get Appraising and just pick them up off the ground in dungeons.

Rods and scrolls of uncurse are sold be a variety of shops. Mages, healers, magic shops, even general stores sometimes. They have a much lower skill requirement than the spell, and are also possible drops even in lower level dungeons.

First will hit for 2-10 damage with +8 hit rate and gives you +1 dodge
Second will hit for 4-16, then add 2 damage, and has +2 hit
So it depends on your weapon skill or any enhancements it has or if one is a spear and can hit from a tile away or something, but the second one is probably better

Get the signbaord workshop, get whatever the trash dump sign is called, after a while they'll start prioritizing that area.
Put Burnable and NonBurnable Trash Containers (made at one of the craft stations) around the sign and they'll put the trash in those I think.
Policies level up over time, so it'll get better but you will also get more residents and visitors so..

Her brother is vaguely far to the east of where you start in Mifu Village.
Then there's Yevan, who shares a spot with Mani in Aquil on the way to the port.
The actual currently unimplemented goddess is Yaksha, but the altar exists and the lore is in the Journal.

I understand your point from the perspective of how pixel art actually works, but I have the same monitor dimensions as you and it really doesn't look bad. I play the majority of the game in 120% with the rare 140% and my eyes don't pick up anything jarring. The problem with monitors our size is 100% is cute but too small and 200% is too zoomed in

I found this in my first 30 minutes of playing in a chest on the beach. You can hold down right click on the attack dummy the game gives you to attack reaaaaaallly fast. I've grinded out throwing to 15 over a couple in game weeks, it seems to be getting the job done.

At low level it isn't a 100% success rate, but as the policies level up they quickly become 100% or close to it. I played like 120 days without ever bothering to make bins and basically had no rubbish to speak of after the first week or two. Likewise, I currently don't use the policy at all and all my rubbish ends up in bins anyway.

WIL and END focus mean that she's good at boosting survivability on magic-based characters. Her pet and weapon are both quite good. She won't chainkill your character with her penance like Opatos will.

I had this happen after reading an unknown tome. Turns out I summoned friendly shades.
