Trish and Lady are just there, Vergil's character in 3 is retroactively painted in a worse light, Nero's build up to hashing it out with Vergil is a phone call you don't hear, Nero tries to snap back at Dante with the "dead weight" insult but it fails as the player knows Dante abd Vergil were literally just in a battle to the death, and "Don't you dare say it" line is cringe as fuckijg hell instead of Vergil just embracing his newfound respect for Dante by using the "Remember what we used to say" line Dante used in 3.

Multiple playable characters was a mistake. They needed to split the campaign between 3 different characters along with designing and balancing the enemies to make it work. Dante is by far the most fun and deepest character in DMCV whereas Nero is still stuck with only two weapons which the gimmicky Devil Breakers doesn't fix. V is another can of worms and isn't nearly as fun to play either.

It all peaked with Vergil in DMC3. An nice bonus character that didn't impede on the main game. Even DMC2 Trish is unironically better than Nero or V.

I've been thinking about playing DMC1 again, and finally clearing it on DMD, which isn't something I've actually ever done before. I think I got filtered by Griffon 3 last time I tried. I'll also try to approach this game differently overall. I always thought it was a bit "clunky", but I'll try to revisit it with a different mindset. I think I was just expecting something more similar to Itsuno's DMC instead of appreciating DMC1 for what it is. I do remember thinking that critical hits were a fun mechanic, though.
Anyway, do you guys have any tips or strategies you're willing to share? I don't think I ever got around to mastering tech like Slash Cancelling and Shotgun Twitching. Shotgun Hiking was pretty easy, though.

NTA but bosses will be your biggest hurdle so master those fights. Regular enemies are fine because most encounters are optional or you will just instant kill through critical mechanic. If they manage to go into their devil trigger then pop DT yourself to even the playing field.

I’ve only played DMC1 and DMC3, how much easier are 4 and 5? I thought 3 was pretty easy on normal, peaking at bosses, and was fairly challenging on hard and very hard and getting really hard on DmD. I thought 1 was harder on normal and hard, but DMD wasn’t harder than DMC3’s but in a good way since 3’s felt like I was micromanaging if I didn’t wanna be in a room forever.
