The Lego City game on Wii U was fun, it's basically GTA but with Legos.

I'm not much into the Lego games based on existing IPs either but from what I saw they all follow the same formula, I think they're pretty relaxing since the gameplay is very simple and straightforward. The presentation and humor are really charming too.

Don't know how this series sold millions. I finished the first game once and had no desire to replay it. Combat was fun for a while but lacked variety in weapon types. You only had bows and a spear. Skill tree was very generic and boring. Characters and dialogue were annoying and unlikable. Alloy never shuts up. It was a 7/10 game at best. Don't know if the sequel is better.

Their problem is most of the "iconic PlayStation games" were never owned by Sony, and Microsoft even ended up owning a few via Activision. Even in this gen their best-selling game is Spider-Man, an IP they don't own.
Japan Studio put out a lot of really good original games, but nobody bought them. As sad as it is, a new Wipeout or Ape Escape in 2025 would flop.
