What Would You Do?

If AAA games goes to $100?

Big budget games are now EASILY going to $200-400M. To recuperate their spending, they'd have to increase the price per game.

We've went from $40 per game to $60 and now $70-80. $100 is on the horizon.

Will you STILL buy?

I pirate anything that costs more than $10 on sale.
I will continue to do so in foreseeable future.

That's not a gotcha. The whole point of tariffs is to make foreign products more expensive which drives consumers towards cheaper domestic alternatives.

AAA $100

Don't care. AAA is trash.

cheaper domestic products

I'm so glad megacorpos will sell their products at 30-50% cheaper than tariffed overseas goods. There's no way they'd price adjust and give up the extra profits and put their products at 1% cheaper than the foreign competition.

games get worse

sales go down

prices go up

this problem solves itself

If a product was manufactured in a country with practically slave tier labor, it should by default have severe restrictions placed on its import since the sale of such products on US soil grossly undermines the 13th amendment.

cheaper* domestic alternatives

*still more expensive for the costumer than before tariffs were put in place, driving up inflation

It's not about the consumer it's about bankrupting the foreign competition.

what kind of a mouthbreather cares about AAA sloppa lmaooo

You mean by bankrupting themselves? George Bush and Obama both subsidized their own solar panel industries, with Solyndra getting $600M.

Bush had a 30% tariff when China had a 5% market share. Obama bumped it to 249% and China's market share jumped to 45%. Trump saw it didn't work, lowered it, and then Biden raised it to 50%. Now China has a 80% market share.

Haha we'll just uniquely raise the prices in this country because we don't like the government!

I hope they do because that's directly against both US and UN trade regulations.

They won't though because that is a ragebait article and this is a ragebait thread. Lefties are retards who are mentally stunted at the age of 10 so it's not practical to engage with them seriously.

No, 10 year olds have better grasps of economics than adult leftists

your argument is a anecdote with a correlation?

I literally only want trump to win because it will be very funny and i dont support women.

Also, don't forget to consider that you are not really BUYING the game, just renting until they say you can't anymore.

Cool. Give me some facts of foreign companies being bankrupted because of US tariffs. I gave you an example of tariffs being raised and not working.

N-N-No that doesn't count, tariffs work and they bankrupt foreign companies because I said sos!

Reminder that every single product not made in the USA is shipped from overseas using mega ship tankers that use 15% of the global supply of oil every year to bring aliexpress and temu quality crap simply because boomers wanted 10% returns on their retirement funds.

Even funnier is that only worked for a few decades now they're just importing 10 million illegals a year so they can build a fake economy based on car and phone payments.

If they give us tariffs to price us out of the market, then we'll price ourselves out of the market!

Yes, retard. That was the point.

paying an import tariff for digital goods

retard

She looks like she grooms young boys.

China has a 80% market share

Of solar panels? How many are they themselves using/buying? Also wasn't Solyndra a bust because they went with some meme construction method that meant they couldn't keep up production? All that tells me is the government should pick tried and tested companies/products to invest in rather guessing and hoping for the best.

I love it when the government makes my life worse

I haven't bought an AAA game in years, not due to price but because most of them just don't look that good. Smaller studio's or even indie devs do a better job at a fraction of the cost.

I don't have to counter your argument because you didn't provide one, and everything I said was a priori fact that doesn't require evidence.

China uses half of the solar panels they produce. The other half are exported. Mainly to Europe, the rest to SEA, where they are repackaged and sent to the US under "Made in [SEA Country]".

Europe knows they can't compete, so they instead shifted solar panel producing jobs to "installation" jobs. So jobs aren't technically lost, they just shifted to another sector.

the example you gave? NOT a fact

the thing I made up and didn't give an example to, that's a FACT

Based retard. Absolutely based.

I don't even buy seventy dollar games, I wait for sales. My backlog is already massive and there are literally tens of thousands of video games to play while I wait. Once again I will win by doing nothing.

That's not a gotcha. The whole point of tariffs is to make foreign products more expensive

Considering that trump himself doesn't understand that, I'd say it's a pretty good gotcha.

Our founding fathers threw a massive bitchfit so big it led to one of the most based things to ever happen in history...over a 2% tax.

The average working American nowadays gets taxed roughly 47% of all their income after state and federal. We need to throw another massive bitchfit if we want any of this fixed.

I'm sorry nobody ever taught you how to think. Again, your "argument" is a correlative anecdote. That tells me all I need to know.

What's a "foreign competition" that got bankrupted due to tariffs?

source.png - 512x168, 13.48K

I don’t understand
Are they basically saying Trump has already won?

To recuperate their spending

oh well that's easy, just spend less making the fucking game. i don't see how this has anything to do with tariffs when it's made in the US and digital.

this problem solves itself

not really if no one is fucking buying it lol

I'm sorry nobody ever taught you how to think

Yeah, I'm sorry you made things up and couldn't provide a SINGLE example of your "fact" that a foreign company got bankrupted due to US tariffs.

Actually, I could name 1000000 foreign companies that got better after US tariffs. No, I'm not going to give any examples other than that 1 I gave. Because it's a fact.

WHERE ARE THE VIDEO GAMES Anon Babble?

STILL buy

Nigga, I don't buy games above like $10-20, and that's not going to change.
Also gotta love when TDS is so bad that they have to scrabble to come up with some hypothetical situation to try to scare voters off.

Inflation isn't nearly as big of an issue if you spend more domestically. If everyone buys shit in their own country, that increases budgets across the country and circulates more money more smoothly, rather than sending off all your money to another country, where it may as well have been burned.
Bonus: less cheap Chinesium shit that breaks in a week, more Americonium shit that breaks in a month.
More jobs, (hopefully) better products, better money flow, a possible return/increase in some good ol' USofA nationalism, and it finally gives China an excuse to try to improve their shit to justify the higher prices.

it's about bankrupting

But who bankrupted?

Oh no I must consoom

Isnt the tariff stuff primarily focused on automobiles?

temubros... this cant be happening

The solar panels example is just another reason the U.S. needs to focus on regaining industry or enforcing tariffs. Jobs and money should be retained in country rather than allowed to go elsewhere and if that's not possible then make imports less desirable to be cheaply gobbled up.

domestic alternatives

very little is actually made in the US anymore. if i were the government i never would have allowed our major industries to leave the country but maybe i'm just a fascist pig idk

OP I know the average American left-winger is barely literate but didn't they teach you what a tariff is and what it's supposed to do? Do you know anything about what you're talking about?

4chuds legitimately pretending that putting a 300% tax on something makes it sell more

i haven't bought video game in 10+ years
i'm not kidding

Executives (D) say...

trump wants to blanket tariff literally every import. he also doesn't know what a tariff is

If AAA games goes to $100?

I don't buy those until they're 80% off anyway.

Big budget games are now EASILY going to $200-400M. To recuperate their spending, they'd have to increase the price per game.

I'll wait.

Do tariffs effect buying things from another company that gets shipped to yours?

Buying video games

Buying AAA video games in 2024

Still voting trump in swing state

It's wild how D's literally pushed everyone away instead of even attempting to win a single vote

you want tarriff us? we hike our own prices to double tarriff ourselves! take that blumpf!

things being more expensive is the whole point of tariffs

About 78-80% of the US's economy comes from the service sector. Only ~18% of the US's economy comes from manufacturing, and it's most on cars.

The US is so behind on manufacturing that they can't bring jobs back, because it would mean investing HUNDREDS of billions of dollars to make plants and train workers to product cheap plastic shit. And you would need absurdly low wages to even begin breaking even.

Even with SHIPS the US can't make them any more, and have to ask South Korea + Japan (who are #2/#3 in shipmaking) to help jumpstart their shipbuilding again and to share techniques and innovations.

Depends on the product. You can ship some things that won't get tariffed. However, for cars, you can't do that. If you buy a Chinese car in Mexico, you can't drive it to the US. Because the US has a "list" of cars that are approved for the road.

HUNDREDS of billions of dollars

if only

Ok, cool. i really only care about my ability to import jap nerd shit.

Games should be $100 and they should all have denuvo.

based inflation enjoyer. to the moon!

investing HUNDREDS of billions of dollars

Build Back Better was like a 2 trillion dollar budget wasn't it?

Musk says that the average American will have to suffer a short while before they start seeing the benefits. Yes, food will cost more, so will your average consumer goods. Inflation will skyrocket as well. Doesn't affect him though, since he has $200,000,000,000. But if you're rich, you can just wait out the suffering.

musk economy.png - 710x495, 168.56K

That’s not how inflation works, you utter fucking retard.

we already had 4 years of this bullshit alarmism

TRUMP WILL DO THIS RADICAL THING AND IT'S GOING TO HAVE HUGE CONSEQUENCES

nothing fucking happened. the Trump years were smooth sailing with one exception: all the mayhem the Democrats created in nigger cities with BLM. meanwhile gas was cheap, inflation was under control.
Trump presidency = SMOOTH SAILING. it's not speculation, it already happened once before and we were all alive to see it, and to see the steep decline immediately after when the Dems got back into power. who do you honestly think you can fool? if you're not paid you're in a cult.

I literally don't consume anything

trump: I want to put tariffs on everything
"trump wants to put tariffs on everything"
you: REEEEEEEEE

anything happens

prices go up

They (ie media reporting and basically everyone) treat it as if prices rising is a natural effect and not a malicious decision made by people who can be specifically blamed for their conscious decisions
Prices have been going up because of demand FALLING in recent years for various things, the problem is companies are not legally obliged to take any losses ever, they push EVERYTHING to the consumer and they're simply allowed to, partially because this mentality of it being a 'thing that just happens' exists
Video games are no different, every motherfucker in a suit says "oooh game development is getting so expensive ooooh" when THEY'RE THE FUCKING ONES ASSIGNING THE BUDGETS AND SCOPE OF PROJECTS, fucking tone your shit down and as long as it's fucking GOOD it'll make a fucking PROFIT, maybe not ALL THE PROFIT IN THE FUCKING UNIVERSE like you want but that's not going to happen every fucking time, holy fucking niggers. I mean look at Metaphor, good game, strongly positive response, strong sales, looks like absolute shit and has a dev team a third of the size of Persona 5. PEOPLE DON'T LARGELY GIVE A SHIT ABOUT MUH GWAFFIX ANYMORE if the game is fucking GOOD. Holy fuck

I was talking strictly on manufacturing. But yes, infrastructure is always in the trillions. For example, the US was supposed to build broadband for every American years ago. $42B spent. No lines connected. And then you have the the $7.5B spent on building charging stations. And only 7 got built in 2 years.

All the money went "missing" with nothing built at all.

The world will surely end if Trump is president. Oh he was president and everything was fine until globohomo created Covid to get rid of him? That wasn't odd at all

again, we had 4 years of Trump. you were alive during this time. and yet you somehow never processed one thing that happened. Trump always SAYS wild shit like he's gonna put tariffs on "everything", he's gonna nuke Iran to dust, he's gonna deport a million people etc. Trump SAYS these things as part of negotiation processes. when he says he'll put tariffs on everything that's telling China, lower your tariffs. when he says he'll hit Iran with enough nukes that the landmass collapses and turns into a bunch of volcanoes, that's telling Iran to back off Israel. it's really basic negotiation, yet in 4 years of witnessing it again and again, the entire American left was either too stupid to ever catch on, or unwilling to admit that even they were able to figure it out eventually.

I haven't bought a 60 dollar game in years let alone anything higher.

Why aren't executives eating the profit losses? Why are they passing the tariffs to the consumers? Weren't the Big Guys supposed to eb on our side???

actually him saying he will destroy the american economy is a bluff because somehow that would be a bad thing for china of all people

truly le nimble navigator

that's why it seems extremely retarded.

we're gonna make sure your tarriffs do exactly what you want them to do. no bypassing the tarriff by just having final "assembly" done in vietnam for us, no sir

if actual cheaper competition comes by from bypassing the tarriff or just not using china then they would fold immediately

People were too busy rebelling against his fascist regime to remove him from presidency. Literally nobody wants him back again.

I cant recall a single bad thing Trump did during his rule.

that's "democracy" according to the party named after democracy. also they fear that Trump is going to end "democracy".

Trump pisses off executives

executives don't want Trump in office

this is somehow a bad thing and I should side with executives

says somebody who self-identifies with "left" political leanings while jerking of EXECUTIVES

take your meds, schizocrat.

Enough about what Trump will do leftie.
Tell us what Kamala has planned leftie. If you can even find a plan.

didn't finish construction of the wall. went along with the covid narrative for a few months at the end. that's about it though, everything else was good.

What the fuck are you talking about, you absolute retard. I'm not even American.

China has to sell stuff to somebody to make money, Americans are well off enough to want to throw said money at them for things they don't need

Are demos still against the great wall of trump concept, after Poland got inspired by it and showed it can work?

doesn't matter any more. your entire belief system was created by american journalists and political authors who ALL vote democrat. you are effectively an american democrat mentally, even though you've never been to the country and could never vote for the party.
formerly moderate and left parties all around the world follow the american democrat party in lock step. fyi I'm not american either.

we're already trillions in debt, so what another - idk what to even say or think.
god what a pain in the ass it all is. i hate greed so much
