This has to be the most barebones music service I have seen in fucking years. Even Game Boy and NES, with file sizes so small you could fit thousands of their music tracks into almost no space, only have 2 and 3 games, respectively. I wish I could say I was surprised that Nintendo has the gall to dripfeed fucking MP3s that are easily accessible elsewhere but they are perpetually behind the times. About the only positive thing I can say is that the more recent titles are very extensive in their selection. Mario Kart 8 seems to have every single track and all the menus including DLC, Odyssey has 136 tracks, Kirby Star Allies has 213. and New Horizons has over 400 goddamn choices.
Ironically, I would have at least gotten some use out of this for Splatoon music but despite having over 100 tracks it's still missing like 60% of the music available in-game. Nothing past launch, no Chirpy Chips, no Golden Bazookas, none of the seasonal music, no Side Order tracks. Not even a lot of the tunes readily available to listen to on the jukebox. What a fucking joke.
Hopefully it's something as simple as to give up on monetization on those videos to let the video still be there.

Star Allies, Scarlet/Violet, Odyssey etc. all have publicly released song credits too so I really don’t get why they didn’t add those in the app when they clearly took the effort to give literally every song a screenshot from its game showing the place or moment the song played in, adding the composer and arranger credits would’ve been much less effort than that
They did it intentionally so you associate everything with NINTENDO the corporation instead of individual artists.

I’m also bummed because the Mario Kart series has had poor previous credits, especially for the songs in the DLC as Tour still doesn’t have proper staff credits, so I’ve been waiting for an MK8 Deluxe and/or Tour soundtrack CD for proper credits, but the app existing makes it clear that a proper CD release for those isn’t happening so the credits are likely lost
Another example is Scarlet/Violet, many people still believe that Toby Fox did everything when the other composers delivered plenty of good stuff and Toby’s actual arrangement credits are limited to tera raid battle, final boss and academy ace tournament

It's a bit of a broad statement, more so than someone saying they listen to X or Y instead, because with video game OSTs they cover every single genre of music. Broader horizons, not pigeonholing yourself into whatever MTV shows, or whatever kids today listen to.
