Remedy reveals Alan Wake 2 has recouped "most" of its development cost

GOOD MORNING SIRS DO THE NEEDFUL REDEEM ANAL WOKE II ON EPIC GEME STORE GOOD
TIM-SAMA SUPERPOOWER STEME BAD DESTROYER DO THE REDEEMFUL

most isn't all - this is bullshit. fuck you nigger op, I'm gonna rape you to death. this isn't a joke, your backdoor is unlocked, see you soon

most

So it hasn't even broken even
Holy shit what a flop.

still not turning profit

success

Success

Still not profitable

ALMOST at net 0 dollars for years of effort and shilling 1 year after release

"so much for going broke, huh?"

this shemale still has a job?

the best part, I didn't even do anything

Alan Wake II continues to be a success for Remedy

1427694274375.jpg - 604x454, 131.93K

If it was a success, they would have made their money back and then some by about this time... last year...

we almost didn't lose money!

A success recoups its cost within the first 3 months

And the first line of the article describes this as the game "continuing to be a success".

This game is so massively successful that it may one day break even! Take that chuddy!

most of

Do all trannies have this awful reading comprehension?
It means they're still in the red, fucking idiot

Remedy didn't lose any money. Ol' Timmy paid for it all and wasting Epic's money is based.

Tim was just another white asshole deciding what Remedy got to do, and how they got to do it.

Journofucks are desperate for a win before they all get fired.

its all optics

almost not at negative dollars earned

nice

Alan wake and american nightmare are unironically good too, unlike alan wake 2 which is only liked by game journalists

They've been saying the same shit every 3 months for a year now.
Now that DEIguard flopped, I await 2025 to see Remedy's Concord shitting the bed and flopping as well. Watching these (((games))) fail is very entertaining desu.

Sounds like they're trying to remedy the situation by coping.

Trve. Everything about Alan wake 1/AN is superior to 2. The only good things about AW2 are graphics and maybe enemy variety.

we almost didn't lose money!

taking a big financial risk to make no profit whatsoever

no investor wants to hear this. this is not good business. Remedy are tax payer parasites using government subsidies and blackrock ESG (also tax payer money but more indirect) to stay afloat. they aren't a real game developer and haven't made a good game since Max Payne 2.

Anal Wake remaster looks superior visually. Only time it failed to impress was during the prerendered cutscenes and daytime.

Game_f_x641.jpg - 1920x1080, 364.31K

Spend $50 million

Earn $50 million

Somehow, it's a success

Why the fuck are companies still invest in them?

The investor is Epic. They are already sinking money to attract people to their platform by paying for free giveaways. Can't be much worse than that.

recouped "most" of its development cost

lmao?

Epic's investments are an anomaly, although not a big one given that they are also publicly traded and have started to pozz Unreal Engine coding standards. they are obviously entangled with ESG stuff as well. any way, I was describing the way Remedy have generally operated for a long, long time. you can read their "DEI" propaganda on their own website or just look at the raceswaps and genderswaps in their own games, making every game about a woman lately and swapping a white woman out for a black woman to top it off. you can also look into generally how game studios in the EU operate. there's so much government subsidy parasitism going on. no real businesses, all fake government leeching. Ninja Theory are another obvious example. I suspect Crytek also work like this. it's ironic. the EU doesn't have a healthy games industry BECAUSE they keep throwing money at failed businesses, distorting the market, making it impossible for real companies with a legitimate business plan (not leeching tax money) to succeed.

a success

almost not being in the red

Clown world

It's a success

Actual took a full year to still not break even

The operating expenses of remedy don't just stop the game was not a success lmao

most

So that means it just cleared 51% of its expenses in revenue.

Good to hear this turd flopped.

Dont they understand, the more they lie to us, the more people start to notice.

Damn maybe they'll make a cool hundo over Christmas break

wouldn't it make more sense to lie about the game being successful in the headline rather than the body text?

They'd be better off just saying nothing at all, but they have to find something to brag about.

Like how DA is about to get Bioware shuttered despite being "the most successful single player EA release in a decade on Steam". Because they didn't release anything on Steam, the metric is meaningless. But people have eyes, and steamcharts tells us this game did poorly.

It's tracking worse than Outlaws and I'm supposed to believe it's a hit lmao

based timmy

ALMOST at net 0 dollars for years of effort and shilling 1 year after release

"so much for going broke, huh?

development cost

So marketing is still missing? How much did that thing cost in the end?

Don't forget the Game Awards bribe I mean donation I mean contribution to the cause

Considering they paid all the shilling venus like IGN and Gamespot along with VGAs, I'd say a lot.

i just want to know when will it hit steam?
isn't epic exclusive games normally a year contract? its been more than that now.

it's safe, effective and almost profitable

It may not be a return to profit but it's a triumphant return to form

Probably not even worth releasing it, because all it'll do is show off how few people wanted to play it.

ALMOST

MOST means 51%. If they'd made back more than half their money, they would've said "70%" or "90%". The fact they said MOST means that they've made 50-60% of the money back at best.

The game's development budget reportedly stands at €50 million, making it one of the most expensive games to develop and one of the most expensive cultural products from Finland.

Who the fuck believes this shit?

success

didn't even recoup the dev cost

How in the flying fuck can that be considered a success?

recouped "most" of its development cost

The metric for success in business is recouping all of your development and marketing cost and then making a hefty profit.

chuds were owned and that's all that matters

Recoup most of its costs

"Most" meaning not all

Been out for over a year

Still hasn't turned a profit

Are you seriously bragging about this?

"most"

So they are still in the red with this thing LOL
Also their intention was to make *profit*, not "recoup"

You have to be extra retarded to not make a profit in video games. It's like selling muffins to fat women. You would have to upset the fat women a lot.

yep. as far as DEIslop goes this is among the most profitable outcomes. if they want to brag this is what they have to brag about.

My favorite part that it doesn't take into account inflation and ROI.
If you invested 10 million dollars into a thing in 2010 and it made you back 10 million dollars in 2024 YOU STILL LOST MONEY

haven't made a good game since Max Payne 3

fixed

The guy from Alan Wake is that guy from Max Payne and he is the guy from the studio that made that game and then the studio also made a game called Control and when you get that reference, the game is really exciting.

This is even funnier when you consider if lost them money even with the Epic sell out.

backed by epic

year since launch

Despite "critical acclaim" it hasnt even broken even????? is that a joke?

lol

file.png - 357x418, 57.78K

3 niggers working overtime so they can afford the next blue checkmark

Uh yes? The point of making a game is to make a profit doing it, not 'almost recoup your losses', retard.

G8 b8 m8

>Earn $40 million

Fixed your shit

it's really easy to make profit with games
to not even break even after a year is a massive disaster

"WE "ALMOST" COVERED SOMEWHAT OF OUR DEV COST"

"TAKE THAT CHUUUUUDD!!"

Wowowowow!

this art is bad because... it didn't make enough money

more repulsive than the game itself

file.png - 136x316, 52.69K

success

still hasn’t even managed to break even, let alone make any profit

That’s a very strange definition of success.

while it may not have sold millions, it owned billions of chuds

You must've had a lobotomy to think this actually looks better than 2.
2 is by far and away the better game, they're not even in the same plane of existence.

Why make games to just being on 0 x 0 score or even negative? I always ask myself how Remedy still exists. Their closure would be sad as they are into sp games, but holy shit, they need to do a better job managing their money.

they would have actually made a profit in the first week if they didnt shoehorn a nigger into it

Finally hit 51% of costs then.

to just being on 0 x 0 score

What?

didn't even break even

hahahaaha

Why make games to just being on 0 x 0 score or even negative?

propaganda, my feline friend

people didn't buy something on epic game store

shocking, just earth shattering stuff

Now explain why it flopped on consoles too.

Is that victory now?
Simply breaking even is a success story?
People have plugged their hard earned money into your company for what? Nothing in return?
That's a good thing?

it did? I didn't see anything about consoles specifically in the OP, the only stuff I see is total figures. No idea if those are above or below expectations for console sales.
I took a look and it seems there's this talking point being mentioned as well:

fastest selling, somehow more even than control

Is part of this issue that remedy has an issue spending way too much fucking money to reasonably recoup?

fastest.png - 717x691, 456.83K

it failed to make profit, therefore it must have been successful on consoles!

It's the same as 'to break even'.
They've got Chinese loan last month from Tencent. This is not looking good. This propaganda will fail again.
No physical version for physical fags. They wouldn't buy it anyway. The truth is, Alan Wake was never huge. It flopped on Xbox and PC.

AW Remaster

you can actually see things in the distance

fast paced with lengthy linear level design and combat that isn't dogshit

for that alone it looks and plays better than the turd that is 2. the only impressive things 2 has are the graffiti walls and orb alignment tech

It's a flop, despite being their fastest selling game according to them

I found my answer, AW2 had a budget more than twice as high as Control. And if this is accurate, it was also their most expensive ever made. Tim must have cut a pretty hefty check to justify this much dev. cost

that's tame. she's even cute.
this is the abomination that made it happen

lobotomy.jpg - 997x397, 97.32K

they would have been profitable if they didn't have a bloated marketing budget like most aaa games have today

It's bizarre that they keep releasing articles like this with weird revisionist wording. They're literally saying "it's been a year and Alan Wake still didn't break even" and somehow they're trying to make it sound like a positive? Can you imagine if Capcom put out a press statement saying their latest RE hadn't broken even yet? It's bizarre man

I'll never understand how a studio known for tight 3rd person gameplay made a game with so little shooting in it.

It all makes sense when you realise that leftists don't believe in facts. They honestly think they can spin colossal failures into success stories just by talking about it loudly enough.

This doesn't make sense to anyone with a brain, but leftists aren't known for that. If anything, it's a detriment, because they might start accidentally examining their doublethink if they had more than 2 braincells to rub together.

Most is not the same as all.

most

OH NO NO NO BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Shit I forgot they made an Alan Wake 2, I replayed the first one a few weeks ago.

That's a funny way of spelling "failed to make a profit"

most

so it's made 51% of the money back, lol

Okay, now what about marketing cost?

hasn't broken even after years

not a flop

the economy really is fake and gay. the entire studio should be bankrupt

studios should go bankrupt after one flop

Putting literally all of your money into one giant gamble is exactly how we got this retarded AAA indsutry

Anon Babble bemoans all these soulless big budget releases and then a game comes along that is genuinely creative and obviously a passion project and anons can't shit on it fast enough.

Epic exclusive

Game wouldn't exist without Timmy funding, it is what it is

meaty system recs

It's time to upgrade your 1060

black character

A legitimate complaint is that Saga is kind of bland. Race isn't noteworthy in the game apart from that one screenshot that goes around. In that it's the dark presence being an asshole in direct contradiction to her character, that's sort of the point.
GOTY 2023.

development cost

Does that not take into account how much did they spend in marketing ?

yes. these big corporations that can survive flop after flop are a plague that need to be eradicated

genuinely creative and obviously a passion project

generic walking sim with le graphics #3543

It's time to upgrade your 1060

defending games with bad performance

A legitimate complaint is that Saga is kind of bland. Race isn't noteworthy in the game apart from that one screenshot that goes around.

defending race swaps

it all checks out. you are a complete stereotype of a consoomer. hope you're enjoying the new Monster Hunter.

what's the problem with the game?

generic

walking sim

Why don't you just admit you haven't played it anon? You know if you give it a try you might have a good time.

still hasn't broken even 2 years after release

it's over

I was waiting for the physical. It's actually very good, and you should get it.

desu, the series is a Stephen King pastiche, and like every Stephen King story has a magical negro in it. It's on-brand.

continues to be a success

hasn't even made a profit yet

?????????????????
if i was an investor i'd file criminal complaints at the company for securities fraud

Why don't you just admit you haven't played it anon?

I wasn't trying to fool anyone about that. of course I haven't "played" it. I've seen other people "play" it though, for easily several minutes, and yet all I did see were cutscenes and WALKING.

If you played it, you'd know those are the best parts of the game, and the gunplay is kind of finnicky and annoying.
You play AW for the story, and the experience. Not for shooty-bangs.

so... we agree it's a walking sim?

for the story, and the experience

that's what books and movies are for. not video games.

No, but it would be better if it was a walking sim. Remedy should just make one of those, really.

Anon Babble acting like it cares about sales all of the sudden is hilarious. You fat retards

Didn't Annapurna shut down? Anyway, I'm glad they at least got their money back. That game has a lot of issues, but it's still fucking cool and worth playing through.

Morons haven't recouped anything. They didn't even take account of the interest costs and opportunity costs.
These guys failed at accounting.

I'm glad they at least got their money back.

they didnt
they got "most" of it back, which means anything between 51% and 99%
and they specifically mention "development costs" so it doesnt account for the advertising etc

they specifically mention "development costs" so it doesnt account for the advertising etc

So, they could have covered those.

what a retarded post

Remedy will be fine even if it never turns a profit, they will just not get extra revenue, that they could've hoped for. Epic paid for everything and they got to do work at no cost for themselves for several years.

Kind of glad that OP decided to put on the Clown Makeup and let us make fun of xhe.
the game still hasn't broken even after a year.

Stop trying to explain shit to the simpletons here you're wasting your time

Some of the game is cinematics and walking/exploring. Some is combat and puzzles, or talking to NPCs. The game is not a non stop combat gauntlet, but neither was the first. I felt like it was paced very well with good balance between each different section.

Rockstar made Max Payne 3

We spent 30 million dollars and made 20 million!

Nigga, you're 10 million in the hole

1474329750272.jpg - 640x460, 88.74K

desu, Epic lost money, by not putting it on Steam. Remedy aren't losing shit.

I just like to point out the fine art of "the Finnish swindle" i.e. kusetus.
