alright anons
this is it
I'd like to explore some side content before trying to finish the game though so any suggestion is welcome
I need me a few key spheres though and specifically a level 4, tips also welcome
Final Fantasy X
Play Blitzball
I don't see why it gets the hate it does
now that you say it you're right
I got time for more Blitzball
I personally like it a lot myself, I really don't see why it gets any hate either
Are you playing the remaster or the original PS2 release?
arrived just in time for the FFX thread
fucking sick. X has a stupid amount of endgame stuff, depends how in depth you wanna go
the remaster with the re-arranged soundtrack
it's bloody brilliant
litter.catbox.moe
a returning anon? hell yes
idk if you were there last night but Yunalesca ate my dick
I welcome you and any hint you might have for me, for a lvl 4 sphere
Might be worth visiting Baaj Temple and Omega Ruins, you have to find its coordinates on the map.
A chunk of the side content includes collecting fiends and doing some of the worst minigames imaginable to get characters ultimate weapons, so you might want to skip that.
There's also the Reniem temple on the calm lands you can reach by chocobo.
How hard are these locations?
I tried going back to Besaid village and the aeon did 9999 dmg three times kek so I'm definitely not ready for that
Somewhat comparable to inside Sin I'd say, maybe slightly harder, but definitely doable.
You have to make quite some progress into the sphere grid if you want to do Dark aeons. They're fun challenges but it's a lot of prep work.
Buy an ad
hide the thread
You can bribe chimera brains in the calm lands for about 200,000 for 1 or 2 level four keyspheres. how much dosh ya got?
100,000 and I still havent recruited Jimbo kek
The Omega ruins has a mimic enemy that drops a lot of gil if you're aren't doing Rikku's ultimate weapon that has gillionaire
do you think I should be able to beat that enemy?
I genuinely ask because I assume stuff you can do before Sin is gonna be either as hard or even harder
Omega ruins
how spoilery you want us to go? because there are a few nice additions that are pretty well hidden
let's say at first I'd rather have hints, like for example a specific place and try to figure it out myself
then if I really can't or it's too convoluted I don't mind more revealing hints
is he good for Anima?
I remember playing this game with just ability spheres and no overdrives. I could never beat the final boss but it was fun figuring infinite loops out for bosses. Yunalesca took something close to 30 minutes to beat 500 dmg at a time.
I finally found a good new player for the LF, who can shoot for shit
I had a lot of fun going slow yesterday, making every move count
Rikku's speed when hasted was crazy and I could use 3 items per turn with her she saved my ass big time
I got Yunalesca on my second try and I'm honestly not too unhappy about it
could have been first try but I didn't know about the whole Mega Death shenanigans so.....
archive.org
I used this strategy guide like a bible when I played it back in the day, it's worth a look through just for the art work they had in it. Careful for spoilers obviously
So, this question is a bit late, but why did Seymour have a video of Yunalesca's bedroom? Why did he show a video of Yunalesca in her bedroom to Yuna to try and flirt with her? Honestly, they should've known he was fucked up in the head from that alone.
It just gets really easy quick and you have to play it quite a lot for Wakka's ultimate weapon.
Recruit Brother for your team. He's one of the airship pilots and he's broken as fuck. He will genuinely carry your whole team on his back.
Also, you can recruit Wakka, if you want.
STOP RIGHT THERE, GOERS!
I'm gonna look into that, it sounds amazing
Don't go to Omega Ruins if you don't have first strike weapons or protection from status effects as the random encounters there are extremely dangerous like greater marlboros and demonoliths
We're already past that reveal.
I remember being surprised when I played the HD version that Omega Weapon isn't a total pushover like in the original X.
hmm is it fine if most of my characters have protection for stuff like silence, confusion or stone?
A few days too late Senpai
Airship Passwords: MURASAME, GODHAND, VICTORIOUS
Airship Coordinates: X=11, Y=57; X=29, Y=73; X=33, Y=55; X=69, Y=33; X=12, Y=41
In the late-game, if you want to power-up your party, they all have Celestial Weapons they can unlock, but there's a Crest and Sigil for each. Most of the Crests are easy to get, but the Sigils typically require you to do a mini-game. You also need to do a small sidequest to get a mirror before you can even open the chests with the Celestial Weapons. Really, it's better to just look up a guide.
Aside from that, you have
using Tidus' Overdrives enough to unlock all of them
getting Yuna's optional Aeons
playing Blitzball tournaments/leagues to get Wakka's Overdrives
Kimahri's Ronso Rages
Auron's 10 Jecht Spheres
completing the Monster Arena for prizes
training at Remiem Temple
the Omega Ruins
completing all of the temple puzzles to get their Destruction Sphere treasure (required for one of the Aeons)
getting Valefor's second Overdrive from a dog if you didn't already
I need me a few key spheres though and specifically a level 4
I don't remember if there's a level 4 key sphere specifically, there's a lot of items and some good bits of story for you if you got back to all the temples and enter each chamber of the fayth like at bevelle. You also might have to get another hour or two into the story, I don't remember exactly when the chambers all unlock, just check the one at besaid and go from there
Bevelle is the only temple you can't revisit due to most of that city only being accessible during the story.
OP is not going to be able to revisit several temples due to Dark Aeons.
It's only Besaid and Macalania you can't revist. Though, if you didn't get Tidus' Sun Crest from Yunalesca's boss room, that's also a potential problem.
>completing the Monster Arena for prizes
>the Omega Ruins
I think I'm gonna do those
the arena especially I'm tempted to try
I would assume it's like on the saucer in VII, sounds fun
Bad word choice on my part I guess but I wasn't trying to say revisit bevelle, I was just mentioning it since it's the first time you see the inside of a chamber of the fayth so it stands out in my memory because of that.
oh yeah, I forgot about those
I didn't get it because I tried exploring the room, went down the stairs that teleport you back but then the camera angle change was so confusing that I didn't know it teleported you back in front of the exit and I walked out
not exactly gonna go for a 100% completion at all though but I'm actively wanting to do extra content which is more than I can say for the previous FFs I played
The Monster Arena requires you to catch 10 of every monster to complete it and then you have to fight a bunch of superboss monsters. It's worth doing at least some of it since you can get Yuna's Celestial Weapon super easily by just catching all the monsters in the Calm Lands. You also get a bunch of items for catching stuff for the guy.
Getting the optional Aeons is fun, too.
I'd just visit the optional dungeons. Given your playthroughs so far, I think you're probably better off skipping on getting the celestial weapons. It involves doing some minigames that will make you feel that IX's hot and cold was fun by comparison.
It involves doing some minigames that will make you feel that IX's hot and cold was fun by comparison.
kek
a true knower
Start the Monster Arena
run around each map looking for stuff you missed, aeons/items/places/feathers
catch monsters and find secrets on the way
encounter shit you'll want to come back to later
Finish the monster catching and go do the arena
potentially grind/prep for those things you're going back to
God Speed OP.
Endgame FFX is best FFX.
I'd like to explore some side content before trying to finish the game
NOOOOOOOO
1. it'll make the final bosses piss easy
2. side content sucks
Finish the game first at least
but is it worse than getting the king of jump rope?
wow how immersive a giant map where you pick where to go instead of actually traveling there. im glad i never played this game
Given your playthroughs so far, I think you're probably better off skipping on getting the celestial weapons
I second this, especially if you expect to replay the game in the future. It's nice to have extra stuff to spice up the replays beyond just a new perspective on the story. My recommendation on what to do before progressing the story is
omega ruins
jecht spheres
blitzball until you get bored of it
valefor's 2nd overdrive since it's easy
pass on shit like dark aeons and arena bosses for this playthrough
yeah it shows you've never played the game
Debatable.
did OP get all of the temple secret items?
If so, there's a temple or two OP should find...
Chocobo Hot and Cold is fun, though. At least once you get past the shitty Reef section.
valefor's 2nd overdrive since it's easy
gotta defeat dark valefor to get back in the village dont ya? although he only has single target attacks so three armors with auto-pheonix makes him a joke
Both of her Overdrives are AOE, aren't they?
I agree but the guy playing through the FF series here hated it, so I can only imagine how he'll feel about getting 0:0:0 with the Chocobo course, 200 lightning dodges, cactuar catching and butterfly minigames.
its fun with fast forward
that double beat is fucked up man...
i only liked blitzball after playing on an emulator and removing the frame limiter
It's not even close desu.
After the last pace change, it's the same all the way to 1000 and that last change is at something like 200 or 250. From there it's just rhythm and time.
Even the cheese Lightning Dodge strats are at best unreliable or time consuming.
removing the frame limiter
What?
PS2 is hardlocked 60FPS
Most of the hate probably comes from them not knowing they should pass before they're overwhelmed.
not on an emulator : )
Jump rope is still more degenerate because it has zero impact on gameplay.
200-300 is the worst part, afterward it's fine, just long
Big difference is the kind of reward they give. Jumping only grants you a key-item whereas X's bullshit locks the ultimate weapons behind them, which are naturally a lot more interesting to get. I suppose they're more comparable to Excalibur II in a sense.
They really were on some different shit with some of the minigames and unlockables during these years at square.
sorry anons I'm back
I was just tweaking my css and colour schemes for this board
but I finally got the faggot Goers
Did you beat the Goers in the story, Anon?
nah because it was my first match ever so I don't really think I had a chance
so it's a good revenge
GOOD start
doing the tourney rn, match 2
The first boss right inside Sin drops a lvl 4 keysphere. You can leave anytime too so dont worry about getting stuck inside
do NOT click on this image the content is very disturbing
KEEEEEEEEEK BTFO'D
my man
thanks
make sure to recruit brother. hes driving the airship, and he is so op in blitzball he can pretty much win most games solo
absolutely demolished
I'm gonna go do that now actually
using anyone other than the original besaid aurochs
soulless
did you grab the Jecht shot?
you can do better than that
I didn't actually
I use the Sphere Shot on Tidus
oh you should totally grab it, it takes two defenders out of the shot equation. Basically a free goal
nta but it's not a big deal. there is a neat detail about tidus' character development if you get it though.
he missed out on the scene where Tidus gets it
Dang. You can go back to the boat on Besaid/Kilika and pick it up, though.
this is basically what you missed out on, op
you know
I'm not unhappy with that, it's my best
I'm gonna do other side content now
Absolutely not.
Dont forget to use Lancet on Omega Weapon for Kimahri to learn Nova.
well well well
it's also called sunshine in the jp version lol
wow this sucks dick
I hope the XP is good
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
Yeah it's good for regular grinding except if you wanna do Tonberry farming with AP - EXP
mfw
how long until a king malboro wipes him?
MUCH better actually
truly a learning experience for all of us
any kind of marlboro is scary to me
look
I'm trying to make my way up in the world
it's hard, am I meant to be here?
its bit of a gauntlet run as an optional dungeon; if you're having too much of a hard time then come back later
Some of the encounters there are from the final dungeon so if you're having trouble then consider grinding as you will come across them again
well at least I havent died or anything and I can kill them so it's a good enough start I'd say
I'd say Omega Ruins is slightly harder than Inisde Sin, mainly because of the Greater Marlboro.
I'd recommend at least grabbing the Magus Sisters if you want to do some side content.
The actual final dungeon is like 3 rooms by the way, don't expect as much of a slog as some of the other games
The Great Malboro is in the final dungeon, too, but it's coded to be less punishing there.
I don't think it can ambush in there.
IX's sure was something
but good to know though thanks, I prefer them on the shorter side with maybe bosses instead of random encounters
I remember Pandemonium from II, Christ
It's set to always ambush when encountered which is why having a first strike weapon is essential
I'm gonna do other side content first and get back to the ruins later I need a bit more survivability
The best thing would be to probably try and catch 10 of every enemy in the Calm Lands.
hehe
Like the other anon said you can capture monsters to fight in the arena and you can't die there even if you lose
so I'm confused
do I need to catch ALL types once or?
cause that's what I understood from the old man
It's both, you get a reward for catching one of everything and another for catching 10 of everything.
all types once will be fine to start with
getting 10 of each type is for a superboss (and it's extremely tedious to do)
i don't know which combination of monster sets lets you fight the blue mushroom in the arena but it's great for power leveling because it drops teleport sphere.
you can use them instead of grinding to activate nodes since you can just teleport wherever you want, as long as someone has been there before anyway. but at that point, everyone should be done with their dedicated section in the sphere grid
I'll do that
10 is too much
sort of? I'm close to getting Yuna's Holy and I need a lvl 4 to get Lulu's Doublecast
I like Lulu’s boobs
I think it's set to always ambush in the Omega Ruins, but not in the final dungeon. I don't remember for sure, though.
If you don't already have a No Encounter weapon you can farm the zombies at Zanarkand and customize one with 30 salts
let's go.......
desu I do want the encounters
thank you though
you can also get a no encounter weapon from the giant fish near the baaj temple. but it has a 50% drop rate so you might need to reset a few times.
still less of a headache than farming salts though.
blue mushroom
It's probably just capture each of that enemy type.
FFX remake soon?
only when Square's finances are in the shitter (again) and they need a remake to bail them out (again)
X doesn't have anywhere near the pull 7 has. No other FF, or game by Squaresoft ever did. Maybe they'll announce another FF7 remake and be like "this time we're doing an actual remake, no changes to the story, for realz!" to sell it.
X doesn't have anywhere near the pull 7 has
its still the japs favorite FF and one of the franchise's most popular entries, even if its not as popular as 7 it still holds enough weight that they are STILL considering doing X-3
I don't know if the Japanese market alone can help with their financial woes, especially since FFX would be rather costly to remake.
But anyway, I'd rather Sqenix dies so they don't touch any nice games with their filthy hands. They're beyond salvation.
this cunt....
revenge! also hope you got the treasure from each temple puzzle
I uh...... did not....
I'm missing the first two so yeah
They're 100% the first places you're going back to once you're feeling up to it. It just might be a while yet.
I tried going back to Besaid and got 9,999'd three times in a row
If you don't care about them you can just one shot them with Yojimbo
The path you're currently on is more or less going to be acting as prep for that mess.
You may be trial and erroring that Besaid fight until you can kill it after a bit. One or two of the easier celestial weapons helps a lot here.
But the real trick is:resetting and farming that fight until it drops a piece of equipment you want to then customise and then move on to the next and do the same for a 2nd person
No, they’re working on 9.
You could try to get Rikku's ultimate weapon which only needs you type GODHAND at the airship and look for her sigil and crest at the desert area
God i hope not that'd be such a fucking waste FFIX is so fucking overrated
the funny thing is I've been trying to farm enough money to recruit him
I currently have like...
50,000...........
I can't really remember how to farm gil besides grabbing the chests that appear in the battles of Omega Ruins.
In the meantime, have you found the temple in the Calm Lands that you can only access with a chocobo?
you're on pc remaster right? it has increased encounter option built in which might be handy
In the meantime, have you found the temple in the Calm Lands that you can only access with a chocobo?
are you talking about the northwestern slope where the guy says "I can't let you through unless something unique happens"?
I haven't either way
I'd like to do it without cheating preferably
I can't remember it that specifically, there are some large cliffs that you can jump up with a chocobo, I think it might be around where you first entered the Calm Lands?
I would make a savepoint right now and go for the final part of the story. If you start optional content, the final part will be a pushover.
Then you can go back and do the extra stuff.
Or do the extra stuff first and do the final part from the backup save.
God i hope not
Prepare yourself for disappointment then
I'm not going for everything at all but maybe a couple optional things here and there, my powerlevel is maybe like 5 or 10% higher right now compared to when I started this session so I assure you it's not gonna break it
if anything maybe I was a bit underpowered I don't know so it's within reasonable bounds
I'll go do the final stretch soon though
that temple is in the very bottom right of the calm lands, up the slope where you first come in.
If you want gil I have a fat non-repeatable 2.5m
Capture the monsters in Besaid. Monster arena guy gives you 99x stamina tonic.
Go to Kilika, buy tetra armour for 2250 gil.
Customise with HP+30% (1x stamina tonic) and sell for 28406 gil each. Profit= 2.5 million gil.
There's a few of these coming out of the Arena stuff.
Whichever skill Teleport Spheres added was a great one too and they're reasonably farmable.
my honest reaction to this information
gonna give it a try lel
IT BEGINS...
why am I having fun
get ready to hate birds
ok you know what it'll do I got like X-potions from it
Are you still using the default team? There are a handful of recruits who will roflstomp every team.
fuck the ball dodging one
I replaced like 2 or 3 players
kek this bitch got destroyed
Omega ruins are the prime location to start out going into endgame. When you grind there you might get too strong for the final boss though so choose carefully if you want to have an immersive challenge as a final or if you want to get more out of the game first and have the final fights to be a cakewalk.
I think the optional stuff is more intended towards post-game but if you really want to get into it there's easily 100+ more hours of sometimes pretty difficult content waiting for you.
ok, just in case.
Ropp - Mihen Travel Agency
Wedge - Luca Main Gate
Linna - Entrance Macalania Temple
Durren - Right of Yojimbo cave
Brother - Airship
Naida - Calm Lands Shop
become unstoppable
To get the crest you have to get below 0 seconds, which frankly doesn't seem that far off for you.
Be warned that the ultimate weapons are an enormous powerspike if you care to preserve any challenge of the main story.
This, I would recommend the ultimate weapons if you want to do the dark aeon fights after the story
I'll most likely do the final boss soon so.... just enjoying my time here honestly
I'll be sad to see this game go
guards, this man is based
Be warned that the ultimate weapons are an enormous powerspike if you care to preserve any challenge of the main story.
honestly, I think I'd like to just one (1) to see what it looks like
maybe for a weak character DPS wise like Rikku or Kimahri
With Rikku's ultimate weapon she becomes one of the best party members, with the other two being Tidus and Wakka
then maybe I should do that
at any rate, what's the shortest weapon I can get?
because people think it's an action-esque game mode when really it's sportsball RPG
farm arena monsters
airship is just a menu of destinations
you don't get to actually fly it
Not a real Final Fantasy.
I don't remember i just remember Lulu's is awful to get and for Wakka's you need to play blitzball
I remember all 3 of kimahri's ultimate weapon items were fairly easy
farm arena monsters
any in particular my feller?
hm any hint?
praying at cataur statues in thunder plains, doing those butterflies in that forest and I forget the third probably from an easy chest
time to head inna woods
be me first time playthrough of FFX
retread back to besaid
get raped by dark dogman I think
Insane that they wouldn't even tell you about these until you run into them but I guess you see them onscreen
It's just randomly on Gagazet, good chance they already have that one just passing through.
I think the one's that let you get the tonberry, I don't remember off the top of my head but you can get shit tons of XP off of tonberry to properly tackle the endgame, although you need a good setup like damage to overdrive triple overdrive and overdrive to xp
it's bloody brilliant
remaster
brilliant
lol no
remasters ui is ass
the character models are ass
play emulated at 4k
that makes sense since that's his home and probably why I never remember where it is
nobody cares pablo
I've always loved blitzball but I have to say, on my most recent playthough (last year) I played the int version on an emu.. I used the speed up function and honestly blitzball is so much better when I can fast forward
Pokébros... our time is now....
this will come in handy in the final fight I think
Like this anon said:
There is a heap of end game stuff, I don't even consider the game to really start until you get the airship. The 30-40 hours before the airship is just the intro.
You can spend 200+ hours just on the Monster arena, getting the monsters then grinding the special creations just to get more stat growth spheres.
Then you have all the dark aeons, the strongest weapons in the game and so much other stuff.
even these optional battles are nice, the bitch gives you like so many items it's insane
The 30-40 hours before the airship is just the intro.
The absolute truth right here, on replays once you unlock the airship its like "okay time to play the game now"
The 200 lightning dodges is actually easy now cause there is a spot where you can run into it and guarantee a strike each time you do it. The worst one of all is the less than 0 time for the chocobo racing. Holy fuck is that infuriating. I’ve done it twice so far, on switch and Xbox. Need to do it on steam and not looking forward to it
It's actually a lot easier with a keyboard. Binary direction switch is much faster for turning than an analogue stick on that specific minigame.
do you know of a quick way to get lvl 4 spheres?
bribe chimera brains
Bribing chimera brains nets you two of those thought it's rather costly
hm yeah doesnt that cost a fuckton?
I guess I'm gonna try to encounter maybe some chests in the Omega Ruins first desu and see if I can make some money
Mimics drop the most gil or bribing the robots at Zanarkand for designer wallets to make the gillionaire ability
can you really not use phoenix downs on these guys to kill them instantly?
I might be retarded but hm... is that a Rikku ability?
if so I havent even gotten it yet
interesting alternative though
200,000 if I remember right
Ye, it's on her section of ther sphere grid
it's nice that there's enough enemies that AREN'T immune to Bio
and I still need like at least 150,000 for Jimbo.................
it's really been slowing down to get those extra spheres I reckon
are we going to tell him about Don Tomberry?
man if it's like the Tonberry GF in VIII..........
OH FUCK
doublecast time?
Its a monster in the arena and by far the fastet way to level up, and i mean fast
thea real question now: am I getting Holy for Lulu?
she slaps
you fucking know it man
Spoilers
At end game
... They already know the Maester twist, anon...
he
what the fuck
Doublecast didn't count as a hit against the bomb....?
oh I meant more like extra dungeons/ hidden stuff for characters not plot things
what game are you playing next op? ff12?
X-2
I'm gonna need some anons to give their opinion about what I should play after that though, because I've already beaten XII twice, so should I still replay it again and make the thread or directly jump into XIII?
Just jump straight to 13 if you've already played 12 as 12 isn't that interesting to spectate from the side
ff12 with 4x time skip takes all of 10 hours to beat, probably less if you know what you're doing. 13 has some cozy music but imo the narrative isn't that great. I only played it on launch though so maybe I was just retarded and it's actually a decent game.
the duality of man
13 is where it all goes down the drain. Arguably the low point. Doesn't necessarily mean you're not retarded, though.
i'd like for you to play 12 for the purely selfish reason that i want to have enough time to finish 13 before you start playing it.
13 is going to be real test of mental fortitued oh boy
what do you think it feels like to be this Adamantoise rn?
I'm gonna be honest
FF XII is my favourite, and for completionism's sake for these threads and all anons who post and engage with the marathon, I really wanna be doing XII too
OP gave the cute harmless turtle covid
Do you have first strike on someone while you're in there?
not at all
Well then, I hope you save often.
I just came back to save
I assume you're hinting at the Marlboro kek
Yes, he will ambush you.
Malboro****
I actually don't smoke
I hope he's worth the reward at least
these guys also ambushed me it's fucked
Kek the hammer brothers gonna take you to ppu d town
Pound? Like cake?
NO!
gottem
I got one!
You had a good run, RIP
Luv these cute dudes.
Sphere Shot on Tidus
why is the guy from Nickelback wearing a onsie I'm scared
the fuck
the very next battle
Traveling is just a soulless list and no physically moving in a vehicle or flying in airships
found a mimic too so I'm gonna keep Doublecasting Demi
blog anon has fun with this
but not Chocobo Hot and Cold
what the fuck
kill this boss while he has a party member sucked up
he spits them out and makes them explode
instant party wipe
What a dick.
Welcome to White Castle, bitch.
it's because it's at most 15s at a time really so it's no problem
he's not going for 0:0:0 I think
negative chocobo time wasnt horrible I managed to do it in less than 40 minutes *cough* about 20 years ago *cough*
Lulu fans
show yourselves
litter.catbox.moe
Oh, okay.
I wish I found her Overdrive useful, but I only got good mileage out of it by throwing Trio of 9999 onto her beforehand.
Man the remaster soundtrack sounds so weird to me.
makes sense to me
new enemy, nice
after this I'm probably gonna head over to Sin
It's not final final once you start. There'll be a super obvious "final door" when you're at the final boss.
somebody in the thread said it'd be about 3 rooms or whatever? at least not something big
I really hope I'm not gonna struggle too much
It's not that short, there's a bunch of bosses + final dungeon is a long stretched out map.
I was expecting porn
They don't really introduce blitzball well. They just throw you to the wolves in a matchup where you're most likely going to lose cause your team is dogshit.
Its like if your first game of Triple Triad was forced upon you at a specific point in FFVIII and the highest number on any of your cards is maybe a 2 or 3.
there's a bunch of bosses
fuck
yes
It's decent, but not as good as triple triad.
Main gripes for me were the way you learn new skills being lousy, it was tedious to train up fresh recruits, and the rewards were pathetic for the amount of matches you were required to play.
Did you actually fight Sin yet or did you go straight to side content after Zanarkand?
Did you actually fight Sin yet or did you go straight to side content after Zanarkand?
yes
Auron's final weapon is very easy to make. You should at least do that.
You should use a trip so we can just filter your dumbass
die mad
I grabbed the Rusty Sword actually back then so I'm gonna go and do that
pretty sure you have to come from the other side if you don't want to get ambushed by dark magus sisters on your way there
hmmmmmm
I think I found it by accident but idk what's up with the mirror
where can I charge it exactly?
Maca forest. You'll need the crest and sigil too
In the Macarena forest.
wait is that the crest where you need to be capturing monsters and all? cause if that's the case I'm just gonna go to Sin
Do you have the celestial mirror from reniem temple? Because if not you can't do any of this weapon stuff.
To get the Celestial Weapons you have to
win a Chocobo race at the Remiem Temple to get the Cloudy Mirror
talk to a family in Macalania Forest who is missing their child
go up the glowing path at the start of the forest to a giant flower
yeah I got the mirror
so I'm gonna do step 2 I guess
I got the crest but not the sigil, I had to look it up and apparently you need to capture monsters?
yeah I got the mirror
It doesn't look like it though? It should react to that shit on the wall and give you the masamune, which you then have to level up to proper strength using the sigil and crest in macalania
Yeah I think thats Auron's.
no I do have it but I guess it's not charged or whatever so I'm gonna do that
also quick update with the mimics from the Omega Ruins I definitely got enough gil for Jimbo
I forget if he's guarded by dark aeons since you didn't recruit earlier
No, Dark Yojimbo only appears if you fulfill the needed movement for him to appear
apparently him and the sisters only show up if you actually acquired them first
think the op will beat it tonight?
I'M GOING TO KILL CHA- I mean SIN SOON
it's pretty late
Probably. X2 will be interesting to see from someone brand new. I liked it but I can see its faults.
it's all in the gamefaqs guide. If I remember right the lvl 4 spheres are easy, they probably come from an arena boss. I think it was always the lvl 3 spheres that were hard to come by
anon
I am finishing this fucking game
NO BRAKES
I gotta say I got so engrossed into the side content and exploring still...
and I just don't want it to end damnit Anon Babbleros.......
someone I talked to said "it's FF X but Charlie's Angels" kek
noted, rn I need a way to get extra XP so I can at least get Yuna's Holy and Lulu's Flare
I'm so close I need maybe at most 6-7 spheres
It gets boring once you have a real team going. Also, the music is mind numbing.
someone I talked to said "it's FF X but Charlie's Angels"
yeah that's accurate
get ready for an intense tonal shift when going over from X to X-2
also obligatory post
The remaster itself is absolutely fine, but the OST is objectively worse for like, half the soundtrack.
They removed a ton of the interesting instrumentation, the fight with Seymour Omnis is the absolute worst culprit. How anyone approved this remastered track is beyond me, the lack of heavy hitting drums, the odd change in note pattern for the organ playing is just bizzare and sounds wrong compared to the original, the original more synth-y sounds being completely lost behind the remasters guitar focus and the choir / chant being compltely drowned out.
original: youtube.com
remaster: youtube.com
and I just don't want it to end damnit Anon Babbleros......
but that's the best feeling a game can leave you with
..and then X-2 happened
It feels like anyone just bases it on the first cutscenes but it's got some heavy themes of moving on from loss and fights are great once you get a lot of jobs.
wait, X-2 has jobs?
Also it has one of the best combat systems in the entire franchise.
ok I'm gonna do the mirror thing
Yeah you switch during battles for different abilities.
blitzball gets hate because it's boring and easy to win as soon as you discover how dumb the AI is.
It takes what should have been a semi-skill based sports game and turns it into a team management game where you score once, then hide behind your own goal until the timer runs out because it's the most efficient way to play.
Once you know this, it's boring and a huge waste of time.
I'd rather dodge lightning in the thunder plains 200 times.
It has dresspheres which work like jobs
I wouldn't go that far. Switching jobs in battle is somewhat novel, but the depth ends there.
he's probably trying to finish FF X
Blitzball is simply not well made.
The second you get Jecht Shart 3 its over for any opposing team.
At that point its straight up just teedus absolutely dominating every match forever.
mirror mirror, tell me where the fuck Auron's Muramase is
Masamune actually
I purchased his Black Mages album when it released and I mostly remember their FFX - Seymour composition.
youtube.com
play game normally until you unlock blitzball freeplay
recruit good players around Luca and just down the road at Rin's Travel Agency
play tournaments until one gives you a Teleport sphere
Lulu will be getting near her 2nd level black magic spells at this point
have Yuna teleport to Lulu, learn all four spells, then Return sphere back onto her tree
faceroll rest of game with bestgirl not even needing summons to kill everything for you
I think I might do this
Oh please, amuse me.
;)
Yeah I cheated and used autohotkey to skip past the lightning challenge
You'll need Anima and Yojimbo first.
ah yeah I see I thought I just needed the two items, ah well never mind
You need all other summons first. And for now youre locked out of one of them.
reminder that he still gets paid more than a janny
FFIX is so fucking overrated
It's the second best one
swear off blitzball so you can focus on being a better guardian for your summoner
learn that your religion is corrupt
learn that your summoner is half al bhed
start working with the al bhed
weirdo teen who looks exactly like your dead brother comes up to you the heretical airship you live on now
asks you to start playing blitzball again
...sure, why not
anyone modded out the horrible faces and models of the remake or is it still fucked?
oh fucking course
This is why we First Strike swap them in to fuck them up.
This is why you should have a first strike weapon on Yuna
Stay away from the Summoner.
or just reroll the gacha I guess
Endgame FFX is best FFX.
Fuck luck grinding tho. Everything else is fine but luck grind is horrible
You’re a bad man!
Play Blitzball, and do Omega Ruins. Monster catching was fun, but i was always too shit to fight the bosses. Also, turn off the remastered sountrack, it's awful.
There's really no point in doing the content if you're just gonna yojimbo all the dark aeons anon
They're the only remotely challenging fights in the game along with the last superboss they unlock
dark aeons
Is it even possible to beat all of them without yojimbo abuse?
I'm not planning to do them I'm just trying the summon out
after this I'm gonna get killed and just go to Sin
I have done Valefor, Ifrit and Anima, but i have never managed to work myself up to grind long enough to beat any of the others without cheats.
Kojimbo you fucking hack
Is it even possible to beat all of them without yojimbo abuse?
Yes, you grind correctly for stats/redoing some of the grid with arena sphere drops, then fight them with quick hit for the easiest time.
Quick hit is kind of fucking broken, next time I play I'm probably gonna ban using it.
They mostly require a specific level of a specific stat to beat each of them, and to figure out their pattern/what they inflict
They don't even have a lot of hp, with a grinded wakka one attack reels kills dark valefor for example he only has like 800k
alright I'm headed to Sin
Yes but you will need to put some work into the sphere grids
you grind correctly
Does the remaster have an exp gain multiplier like the pixel remasters? I've wanted to replay FFX and X-2 for ages but the bonus content is so grindy from what I remember.
100%, done it on PS2 way back.
Yes, they can take for fucking ever.
Fuck Penance though.
I was on the Advanced Sphere Grid so I was handicapped (more freedom, less total nodes), realistically needed get sorta lucky with a fight that long or redo my entire grid (again).
I did the fight long enough that I could reasonably survive the entire time, it's just the actualy doing it I never did. I was so done by that point. Call it a moral victory of could've.
If you're going to play 13, you have to commit to playing the trilogy because 13-2 is significantly better than 13 as a whole alone
I'll be doing all of them, yes
Just use the monster arena don tonberry trick. You’ll unlock most of the arena monsters doing all the preparation anyway
I don't know, I don't believe so, why would it need one? You don't have levels in x it's just sphere grid, and there's already an inbuilt method to get 99 sphere levels in one fight in the arena in a matter of seconds as it is. The slowest part about grinding is actually using the points on the grid, not earning the levels
It's really not the levels that's shit to grind. It's grinding that grid replacement.
13-2 still has plenty of 13's flaws though, plus it introduces some of its own.
I mean I did penance on expert grid, I've only ever played expert grid even the first time, and I beat penance just fine without even redoing the entire grid in the first place. Everyone exaggerates that shit, you just get your stats to 255 and then call it, you don't then go around erasing everything to maximise hp and mp because you don't need that shit anyway
The same strats for the aeons works on penance, it's just quick hit spam to victory the only difference is you actually need to pay attention to when you kill the arms and anticipate them coming back
You don’t need grid replacement unless you really want to break 9999hp, which you’ll never need. You can get 255 stats on everything by filling out standard + adding your own spheres on empty nodes
I didn't say it was perfect, I said it was substantially better, even LR is better in a lot of ways when it comes to not walking around the city.
Good stuff
here's how I feel about ff 13....
it's just quick hit spam
Why the fuck would I just cheese if I'm deliberately not cheesing?
You don’t need grid replacement unless you really want to break 9999hp
You still break 10k hp on expert grid without doing full replace anyway. I am pretty sure I had someone at like 15k hp, all I did was fill in blanks and replace the occasional +1 with a +4 if i happened to be crossing it anyway
I just don't think it's "substantially" better. I'd say it's "only barely" better while still being a dogshit game. And LR is somehow even worse than 13
alright let's get this shit started
Playing the FF13 trilogy before going back and playing the first three FFs made me appreciate them a lot more. It made me like FF2
For most people it's
hold on sorry OP
the fact that you have to slog through 35 hours of repetitious linearity just to get to the point where you get any kind of freedom in choice[/spoilers]
that makes the game(s) a little more than slightly unbearable
That's a definite improvement and I appreciate it for that, but the monster catching bullshit instead of having a real party kind of invalidates it for me
also I'm glad I did those aeon duels because the chick gave me a pivotal supply of stuff
12k per doublecast, not bad
endgame
It's shit.
Fuck more than any of the other games you've been posting this has really given me the urge to replay FFX. That and I wanna replay the 13 trilogy to see if I still hate it
I never knew people hated the 13 trilogy until I had access to the internet. The first one is the only one I don't like playing since it's so linear and word heavy. The music is great though
I did the same and started up 13 earlier in the year myself to see it I’d feel any different after all those years. Quit within 2 hours, I just can’t get into that one.
13 isn't that bad. The combat system micro management carries it hard and I found it fun. Story is fucking nonsense and even after the 3rd time playing it, after reaching pulse I just started to skip cutscenes because nothing makes sense. Ost is good too
get close
armour and magic break
pull back
destroy it
eh, nothing personnel, Shin
Playing the 13 trilogy is quite possibly the most miserable I've ever been playing a game, LR especially. I also didn't care for the music. I found it very forgettable in the same way XII's ost is
Even though its simple i loved the airship mechanics
I had no idea FFX was this huge holy fuck, I usually stop playing around the big long road.
Sin
One thing I love about X is that it is basically a post apocalypse in a bright, sunny setting. A giant Cthulu has been going around wrecking shit for a thousand years and people live in fear all the time, yet its a cheery, colorful world the game is set in.
I'm not sure whether or not anons believed me when I said I was gonna marathon the entire solo side of the series
I haven't played a single FF game
Where should I start?
sin's got bosses just growing off its skin
4
Speaking of I need to go back and actually finish X-2 one of these days. It and XI are currently the only "mainline" FF games I haven't beaten
IV then VI then II then Tactics for a shakeup then the series in series with VII VIII IX X XII skip XIII dont play XV your choice on 16 because I haven't played it.
1, 4, 6, 7, or 10
Then go back and play the ones in between
6, 7, 9, 10
Is where this franchise peaked, any of them are safe picks to determine if it’s something you’ll like at all
Start from one and go in chronological order. You get to see how the series has evolved in 30 years
OP here
I would say that II is a good start because it's more on rails than I, and the way gameplay works means you have a lot more freedom and room for error as a new player
it's probably the least frustrating experience
this anon is sort of right but I think it's a bit too scenario-driven if you really want gameplay
I dunno II's weird where it introduces a lot of shit that is just never used again in the franchise. It might set up some false expectations
I’d also argue if you’re starting up that early into them, might as well just start with 1.
it does but it keeps the core of the series enough that you understand the gist of it
on top of that I don't think it's too tedious or long
overall I think it's a more friendlier first experience than even I and God forbid III
Only if you play PR where it's super easy. That and you can absolutely accidentally fuck yourself with the way the progression works in that game. You can spend the whole time not building your evasion stat at all, and then just get completely ass fucked by Couerls and the final boss
I think if you're going back to the NES games you might as well just go with FFI. It's not very long, and the game basically always tells you where to go so you're not gonna get lost, plus it's a very easy game with no bullshit or gotchas like II has
I would definitely recommend the PR, not the OG
II is the game where you encounter a monster and then ignore it and order your party members to beat each other up because that's the fastest way to level up, right?
you're not gonna do that if you're a normal player who's getting into the series for the first time, come on
It's also the only game in the series where solo runs make the game easier compared to other FFs
The fight is just a kickass spectacle
so you're not gonna get lost
As a wee child before I knew how to read, like 3 or 4 years old, I brute forced my way through roughly half of FF1. It took me most of a day just to get past the intro castle because I had to lose a LOT to learn what all the commands do.
fond memories of trial and error and pain and frustration and success.
basically when I got to the airship I couldn't figure out how to get any farther
That's the meme way, yeah. The actual application of that is dual-wielding shields to pump up you evasion stat, because that's intuitive and makes sense
Yes, but FFX is so easy that you're not going to go through the long setup required to be able to tonberry farm. The dark aeons and monster arena were there for the kids who wouldn't get any other games for their PS2, they were made to take hundreds of hours to complete/minmaxxing the shit out of things through theorycrafting equipment and overdrive modes
Everything about X is just so good and we were all too stupid to see it back then.
Yuna......
....do you like this skybox?
Well if you can't read of course you'll get lost. That being said the two most likely places for getting lost are when you get the boat, and when you get the airship, just because that's when the game opens up more. But there's still only a limited number of places you can go
It's no Spyro skybox, but it'll do
Aside from that, because of that period I remember trying to read when I didn't know how.
Kind of funny to think my native written language as a toddler is much the same as seeing, like Japanese for the first time, and thinking
"What? How. I don't get it. I'm gonna poke this button and see what happens."
Kind of funny to think my native written language as a toddler is much the same as seeing, like Japanese for the first time
English?
Ye
yes. I think the vibe is part of why I love the battle music in X so much. It's really unique and not stuffy classical music
filtered by airship freedom as an illiterate 3 year old
Wow, it's amazing you've survived this long in the real world old timer
this dood
overall I think it's a more friendlier first experience than even I and God forbid III
I just finished playing I-III PR. III honestly had the best balance of difficulty while still maintaining a smooth progression without much grinding **until the 3 hour final dungeon full of rape**. The only thing that's unintuitive are the half baked jobs and how to level them. Most of them are straight up bad, gimmicky or both and the game has the same huge emphasis on melee autoattack as FF1 because of the magic system, so red mages are king again great bow with iron arrows will literally carry you to the earth crystal
funnily enough I had the same experience when I tried playing the first game too, except I was like maybe 12 or 13 and couldn't understand English yet, so there was fuck all I could do
I kept dying to the goblins and thinking "man what the fuck, why are they so strong"
what the lack of comprehension does to an mf
it depends. 16bit graphics may or may not be for you. You might find psx graphics charming. Anything before X will have a lot of reading. I recommend X cause it's turn based and the most streamlined jrpg.
Ok OP, we know how you rank the games so far, but how do you rank the Cids?
Why not play Vagrant Story OP?
I will elaborate when I have time to rank them but for now all I have to say is
Cid VII is best Cid
banger theme
because as you can see I have a lot of games on my plate
but maybe one day
You have chosen correctly, and for the right reasons
youtube.com
My second favourite is XVI Cid
I remember once I learned how to not die from the first fights (figuring out spells, items and shops took a long time) my instinct was to fight as many of them as I could so they could never kill me, and then finally when I figured out where the first cave is I steamrolled the boss.
This all took me like 14 hours over the span of 3 days btw. Something today me could do in 25 minutes or less.
why of course, I know my video games stuff
If (when) they "remaster" ffx I hope they make the game's combat more difficult - and buff the underperformers. Nobody actually used Kimahri, and Lulu isn't even the best black mage in the gang. Lean into the sphere grid and give characters chances to change their class identity.
They also better make blitzball a full fledged sports game inside the game. Let me turn my boy Wedge into a superstar
Lulu isn't even the best black mage in the gang
SILENCE

about to get meteor'd in 10 minutes
Aw man I went back and looked at the last FFIX thread and no one mentioned the Pandamonium theme
hey shush no spoilers I'm trying my best
he opens his mouth all the way
I got the furthest I've ever gotten in it recently. 10 hours. Dropped
cool area
if you think about it, that's sin's mouth, and there's mushrooms and shit growing in it. gross
I HATE THE BEVELLE CLOISTER
The goofy-ass music is about the only thing that makes it bearable
Sin isn't a conventional creature and neither are the mushrooms you encounter there
I dont like these mushrooms
Betting pool?
what's the odds you think OP is going to get THWACKED by Jecht?
Nobody actually used Kimahri,
You are incorrect. My first playthrough blind, expert sphere grid, kimahri was my strongest character for more than half the game, hit harder than auron whilst being faster and having better limits and has an easy as fuck ultimate weapon/sigil that you can get asap.
He got outclassed eventually, but he was #1 for a significant period of the game
I think I should be good for this endgame
yup
The next boss's music is a banger
looks like I found it
I really need a fucking save point though
Time to bravely run away unless you have autolife
japs favorite FF
Not anymore. Now it's FF14 first, because of course that's all Square has now other than Dragon Quest, and FF7 second. This poll is from last year btw. FF12 and 13 didn't even make the list. FF16 was not yet released but I'm pretty sure it would have beaten 15.
I was just gonna use Yuna's summons
nice try sweaty
SHIVA NOOOOOO
more like She ded lmao
I can see it.... please....
FFX endgame seems like a nightmare feverdream of insane tasks only a bored kid with a ps2 in 2001 would seek out
it's time to dance my friend
Yes, you are correct.
you gotta go around the long way lol
yes, and?
you stocked up on hi potions right?
finally..............
I had no friends and an entire summer off school
fellas
I mastered blitzball with the stock team and got half of the ultimate weapons fully done during a new year's eve weekend when I was 13 cuz I had nothing else to do.
it's fucking time to GOOOOOO
summoners were a mistake
kill them all
He's a bitch this time. He has extra dialogue if you summon Anima.
why did he do a quadruple Firaga
Should I spoil the strat or not?
i fucking wonder
use your eyes
Blog Anon, I will be required to bully you if you lose this fight.
oh come on I'm fucking discovering the game give me a break
Is there a point besides collecting to the additional stuff since the final parts and boss aren't that tough?
Look at that tiny horn
I never had a problem with Tidus mini game but for whatever reason struggled like crazy collecting the butterflies
I love how Seymour is simply too spiteful to die. He got there before you just so he could set up a boss arena and practice his monologue about how much he loves death!
lol
kinda fat
Get Rikki's ultimate password GOD HAND at airship. You can't activate most of them without a creat anyways
After this is the final stretch
Can't believe you're ruining the experience by using that atrocious remixed soundtrack. You're actively ruining the 4th Seymour boss with this alone. What a disaster
I'm enjoying it actually
fuck you
I like the rearranged OST more. Same for IV, and same for KH as well
Humanity in a nutshell.
He isn't enjoying it the right way?!?!
Aaaaiiiiieeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Lul
he never got the SOULful Besaid ost
ngmi
He's got another puzzle before the really hard one and then the final right?
Yeah. Sad to see this game go. The X-2 threads will be interesting...
This
The chink ost is horrible and ruins every song
didn't realize op was doing this, actually making his run worse for no reason
Music is a major component of 10 and the remaster music misses the point on almost every single song
youtu.be
K I N O
first try
Now it gets kino
Go now, an otherworld awaits you...
Always was
I'm just gonna flee encounters at this point that's just taking risks and using up resources for very minimal gain,
might steal a few things here and there
also the thread is reaching bump limit so I'll make another one when it's close to dying
Make sure to link it
yessir
if you've noticed though I always put the name of the game in the thread's title so anons can search
I never made it past the 1st boss in x-2 while I beat x like 7 times. I don't feel like trying again I hate atb
op, don't worry too much about people trying to police which ost you use.
just have fun.
but i also do recommend seeing the og character models because the new ones can't emote as well.
and remaster tidus is also just weird looking.
my powerhouse named Lulu
I spent the entire game pimping her
You can make it turn based with pause mode in the menu.
FFX has 100% the sickest final boss of any of the games
holy fuck I'm kino-ING out over here just thinking of the cutscenes leading up to it and the music
jaded anons will never understand actually that my own enjoyment takes precedent over their faggot cries
See heavy enemy
Switch to Auron
It never gets old.
would it please you if I said this is the only FF I've actually played from start to (almost) finish with the volume really bumped up? the OST and sound design are just that good
You're using the far worse ost so it's a Co fusing statement but glad you're enjoying it and the final boss music is the same in both versions anyway
1. Don't lash at your audience.
2. Your audience is looking out for you with their advice. They're being genuine when they tell you, "FFX's 'remaster' has bland character models."
I don't give a fuck retard
If you summon Anima against him, he seethes that you summoned his mom to beat him up.
The battle music is fine that's all that matters
Yeah but purists are generally pretty fucking insufferable, even when they're right. The guy posting the models is fine, the guy bitching about the music is not
no enjoyment policing here!
i just really like to make people aware of the weird character models in the remaster.
but the remaster is honestly still enjoyable because it's still ff10.
We're all here for OP's journey and not any whiney complainers
holy hell does Wakka look even more stoned in the original that's amazing
he's stuck on the puzzle
Wakka's wide unbroken face makes his Al Bhed hate funny
ah you know I'm just exploring
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I don't think so
the bread
the bread
