What is your biggest gaming regret?

what is your biggest gaming regret?

I don't usually buy anything but eldenring dlc is my first gaming regret, such a dogshit repetitive game

So why didn't he just refund at the 2 hour mark?

He wanted to see if it got better

Ok then he should have pirated it first.

bioshock infinite

mad after myself

total ESL death

It's hard for me to imagine people who don't do their research before buying vidya in current_year+9

used-game shopping a long time ago

find a copy of Suikoden 2 for $30

well, that's nice but I should find and play the first one before getting this

find a copy of the first one the next weekend for $20, but the copy of Suiko 2 has disappeared forever

starfield at full price

>He wanted to see if it got better

bro it gets good after 16 hours, just trust bro

it's insane how nobody expects a game to be good right from the start anymore and just expects boring nothingness for the first few hours
probably a ph*neposter, his autocorrect kicked in when he typed ''aft'' instead of at

A youth wasted on MMORPGs like Runescape and WoW

Why do people buy what they can get for free?

Hollow Knight, I fell for all the "best metroidvania ever" propaganda, just to play this shit and realize it's more a 2d souls garbage than a metroidvania, I was so mad that I forced myself to finish this trash just to not feel like I wasted my money, no matter how cheap it was

The game tricks people by having the first 2 hours be pretty good. It rapidly degenerates after that though.

Yeah, I don't buy that

Expansion for endgame content

You find it repetitive and dogshit

But you bought the Expansion knowing full well it's more of the game for people who enjoyed it

You aren't even trying, anon.

morrowind

that's why you never rush and pre order anything.
I wanted the dlc after sinking hundreds of hours into ER. But I waited for some reviews, watched few vids on jewtube and came to conclusion that it;s just not worth it because they didn't address a single problem which was in the base game. More than that they doubled down on them.
Maybe I'll but it on some steam sale but the desire is not there at all.

I'm quite mad I spent $70 on Sparking Zero. It's a $20 game objectively.

Nintendo 3DS

Playing paradox games
I could have learned at least 2 skills

I got the small PSOne when I wanted the new PS2 for Christmas

I give a game around an hour to sell itself to me. If it can't hold my attention for that long or make me wanna see more, I drop it.
Veilguard? I don't even wanna pirate it.

I think that a lot of games are "stupid shitty boring button press games" but it's just about your perspective. Like look at something like Elden Ring. If you wanna be anal about it it's just a shit game and waste of your time right but if you think it's good then it gives you fun.

Always pirate games first and then buy it if you feel like the devs earned your money

But that wasn't your own fault?
Your parents(?) fucked up

Buying Black Ops 2

in terms of purchase, farming simulator 2015. never got past the tutorial, it was so boring it's difficult to describe. pathologic and starbound come close.

in terms of overall experience, world of tanks. i devoted 7 years to that shitty game and affected me personally on certain levels. nevermore.

Nah it was definitely my fault.
The PS2 wasn't out yet
I got too excited and couldn't wait so I thought the new console to be out was the PS2 but it was in fact the PSone.
Took me until the release of PS2 Slim to get one.
I was a dumb child.

Worst Christmas ever.

shit.jpg - 1722x1200, 551.15K

my sweet spot is also an hour, half an hour for smaller games
if a game has a super elaborate tutorial for basics I am also inclined to drop it. a game that needs to explain everything is not a game made for people that play games but for the opposite audience

I had fun with bo2 playing with my friends

Yeah, I really regretted buying that as well.
Didn't even finish it.
I got to Ruah and rode around the empty plain and it pissed me off so much I just quit right there

how long was that shit in development? over a decade?
after they announced that nomura wasn't on the dev team anymore i should have known.
it's crazy that the game got even worse than the Demo

how long was that shit in development? over a decade?

10 years
and still needed 2.5 years for DLCs and a true ending novel

it's crazy that the game got even worse than the Demo

not casual enough for Tabata

The problem with the EldenRing DLC is something along these lines:

Hey developer, we love your game, but we don't like "Aspect X", please minimize "Aspect X" if you make DLC for this game

DLC comes out - "Aspect X" is amped up, not minimized

"Holy shit this DLC is garbage" from people who kindly asked the developer to try to minimize the retarded parts of their game

That's basically it
No one was forced or obligated to listen to any one about anything, but this is what happened

For me it was a combination of my potato pc not being able to keep the fps above 20 and the zombies mode not being what I was expecting. BO2 was when I learned that I should check system requirements and a gameplay video before purchase.

Here's mine:
I was on a bit of nostalgia trip and a forgotten memory of mine emerged when i played Skyrim in 2011 and got to the part where you enter Night Mother's coffin i remember getting aroused by being closed in a tight space with a talking corpse of a woman. I recently went back and jacked off to this and it felt really good. I also remember liking Astrid's burned body, I even leveled Conjuration to the max and turned her into a permanent zombie follower, even tho she has like 1 HP in that state lol. Also, the first time I jerked off to Skyrim was when I was doing the Civil war questline and found myself around the Stormcloak camp in Helgen, there was an area with witches and a hagraven. I killed the witches and took their clothes off and put their bodies on top of rocks and seeing their nord female undies made me wanna fap and so i did.

Things I jerked off to in Skyrim;
1.Night Mother
2.Burned body Astrid
3.Random dead female NPCs
4.Hagraven heads in inventory from I think the Companions quest where you try to remove werewolf curse or whatever
5.The orc female follower that you buy from her father
6.Utgerd the Unbroken, several times (I remember jerking off to her in some glacier falmer cave and I put dark brotherhood assassin clothes on her and the cloth rag headcover that the 3 victims wear in the first encounter with Astrid)

Some other stuff but i dont remember right now

this shit made me legit mad...
kojima should never be in charge of trailers. he overhyped that piece of garbage with it

I wish people would realize you’re never getting another dragon age origin especially from BioWare. Closest you’ll get is something like BG3. You’ll also never get another good mass effect.

Based

You’re just a casual retard. Probably should go play porn games or something.

buying SFV and DD2 full price
but second one is on me, I should've known I can't trust crapcum again

The money I gave Capcom.

trailers. he overhyped that

wait you're saying the thing meant to overhype and sell the product... OVERHYPED AND SOLD THE PRODUCT?????
dumb sheep

Literally the only MGS worth playing, it's like Kojima finally had a moment of enlightenment and decided to make a game that is an actual game and not a movie.

I'm 100% convinced that the people shitting on the Elden Ring DLC are just posers who latched to it as the "trendy thing to hate".
You can't like the base game and not like the DLC because the DLC is exactly more of the same.

Was I disapointed it was tactics combat game instead of a platformer, a little. But it was more that the world of the game was a lot more boring than I thought it would be.
And I realized I don't like Metal to care about characters discussing the concepts about it.
and I don't care about jack black if he's not playing an interesting character.
In fact I kind of hate jack black. I hadn't even really thought about it, but that's when I realized I kind of do hate this guy. What the fuck was I doing.

file.png - 1200x683, 1.77M

I once bought this game called Hollow for one euro and it is my worst spent euro ever.

spending my youth in my room hiding from the world and playing videogames

Ok then he should have pirated it first

Zoomers don't know how.

for me it was the opposite. I loved the silky smooth way fake snake moves. only thing i didnt like was i couldn't save scum like in other stealth games like deus ex so didnt experiment around much. great game. top 10 all time

biggest piece of dogshit ever.

whats even funnier is perhaps 4 or 5 better survival horror games came out around that time as well ( amnesia bunker, re4 remake, dead space 1 remake, signalis etc)

He wanted to see if it got better

I've done it with a couple games, completing 10+ hours before realizing that they weren't salvageable. I dropped them, let a negative reviews and took the $120 loss as punishment.

For me its mass effect andromeda

i saw the reviews but really thought it would still be good because i loved the orig trilogy so much. I still remember the disappointment setting in. Bioware is an empty husk now. Pirated veilguard and it is a 6.5/10 game. Some what enjoying it since it is free for me.

1649355044671.jpg - 1125x762, 289.27K

Mass Effect trilogy, everyone on the internet worships it but it's just Star Trek for 12 year olds.
It even has an unironic "ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS" plot.

first few hours

It’s even worse when the retards tell you the game isn’t good for the first 20 hours kek

Funnier? more like sadder

Only one original game and it's still a sequel of a series going through the motions

Remakes

An indulgent REMEMBER THIS OTHER GAME? project

It shows how much the videogame industry is on the toilet right now.

My biggest complaint about jap games is how the tutorial can be 15 hours long. Been playing Ys 10 and while the game itself is pure kino the tutorial never ends.

It's natural to give a free pass to a mediocre / dogshit game if you didn't pay for it or paid a very small amount of money for it.
I call it the Code Vein law.

doom 2016 and eternal
total dogshit

At least now we have the remasters.
I just hope they will be good and worth it...

I remember play andromeda and thinking “can’t believe we thought me 3 would be the low point of the series”. On the flip it made me appreciate mass effect 3 slightly more, for all its faults it’s still leagues better than andromeda.

i liked the dlc but i won't lie and say i played more than maybe 15 hours of it before i got bored and stopped.

I guess i had enough elden ring.

just from that one neclord fight they showed, it looks and sounds worse

then buy it if you feel like the devs earned your money

Incorrect, you only buy it if you intend to play it in multiplayer with friends

How can you not know how to pirate? Especially these days, it's not like you need to look for cracks or emulate/burn CDs yourself to actually play - just download a fucking repack and click a button.

It's very rare for me to buy a game I hated because I know my own tastes very well and I can know when I will like a game, and if I'm not sure you can always pirate the game. But I've had a few blunders.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus: Bought it when it launched on PC because Anon Babble creams itself about that game being an excellent action game and the cute girls being a bonus; the true was very, very different.
Valkyrie Drive: same as above.
Neptunia Rebirth 1 and 2: same as above.
Learned my lesson and stopped buying anime games my gut warns me about.
Doom Eternal: Bought it full price on launch because I liked 2016; I disliked how it wasn't a proper shooter and more like a puzzle game.
Scarlet Nexus: Bought it full price on launch because Code Vein was one of my favorite games of 2019 and I expected SN to be a quality action game just like Code Vein was a quality Soulslike. I found it to be a JRPG disguised as a clunky, gimmicky action game.
Soul Hackers 2: Bought it full price on launch because I like Atlus games and I expected it to be a quality JRPG. It was a very mediocre and boring game, the child of mainline Megami tensei and Persona, with Megami Tensei being infected with gonorrhea during the insemination and Persona drinking enormous amounts of alcohol and drugs while carrying SH2 on her womb.

Probably this, I legit thought it's going to be both CoD and BF killer, ended up being MoH killer altought it wasn't as bad as Warfighter.
Frontline HD and a cool t-shirt included eased the pain a bit.

Code Vein is a great game though, you can feel that developers actually cared

I regret not gatekeeping more.

I brought subverse.

Code Vein is a great game though

no, it really wasn't

I think the team that made 2 was there for 3 as well since they are mostly similar. Now bioware would be mostly staffed with millenials who dropped the ball hard. I appreciate Casey hudson a lot more now. Shame he went away to a fake studio to get gibs from the canadian government. I dont think his new game will ever come out

Have 3ds

Get bored a couple months after, only played the couple games I was interested in

99% of library seems like kiddie shut to me

Just owning it makes me feel obligated to play it

Hate this feeling so I sell it

Fast forward today

Incredible cravings of playing 3ds, considering buying a new xl from japan through ebay

Fuck I don't get myself. And I'm pretty sure I will get bored of it again.

Yes, it really was

You only say that because you either pirated it (it was one of the earlierst Denuvo games so it was relatively easy to crack) or because you bought it at 90% off due to the game spending more time on heavy sale than full priced.
Another would be your tune if you had paid $60

It's just Dark Souls but for moeshit weebs.

I spent $500+ in microtransactions for a game I used to play. I could sell the account and make profit, but I don't like 3rd party account selling sites.

1615414354426.png - 859x749, 266.09K

I smoothly transformed from gatekeeping (not wanting to be seen as a nerd (loser)) to gatekeeping (not wanting be seen as a nerd (faggot))
I only reveal my powerlevel when I know the coast is clear

Get fucked ahahaa
t. Bioware marketing manager

I bought battleborne and tried to convince my friends at the time to play it with me

Doesn't this game have no DRM? Couldn't he have just copied the files out somewhere and then refunded, then continued to play the game to find out if it gets better?

now we have the remasters.

Probably selling my original Xbox back in the day to get money for a 360.

What if I intend to play it in multiplayer with strangers?

or maybe people just don't like elden ring and/or some things about it. it's not an attack on your person to say i didn't really enjoy the er dlc either

Then you think twice as randoms tend to be retarded

or maybe people just don't like elden ring

Which is perfectly reasonable and understandable.
Buying the DLC for a game you hated expecting it to not be like said game and then acting surprised due to it being more content for the game you hated is not.

thats larians strategy as well. they peak at the first act and drops off after that

im 100% convinced your mom sucks nigger dicks

prey 2017, it was the worst game I ever played.

Elden Ring is a very extenuating game. I had no trouble finishing the DLC because I didn't play the game since launch day so I had no "burnout".

tricks people by having the first 2 hours be pretty good

why don't you watch a video you moron?

b-but my spoilers

seems like you don't value your money then

That's why it's useful to wait for the reviews. A game shitting its bed after the refund window will enrage everyone.

same

Either that Subverse game or this new dogshit tornado chasing game.

Dark Souls

So good?

with weebshit

Something (We) love on this website?

Good game.

Not weebs, moeshit weebs, the ones who take cool things and make them gay and watch lame anime starring 8 year old girls because it's "so hecking wholesome and cute".

you're making up arguments in your head that no one has made and getting angry at them.

Rage
Assassins Creed 3
Deus Ex: Mankind divided (the tutorial shows how energy charges were required even for silent takedowns, and showed you the store where you can buy more)

dont think ive been had since. been slow on pulling the trigger.
Pirated Mass Effect 3, and couldnt even finish that steaming pile of shit. Ending wasnt even the worst part it, the edgy ninja boss was annoying as fuck. not difficult, just cringe

Such a great first hour. Shortly after you realize what a steam piling of repetitive shit you've purchased and have to force yourself to continue so you don't feel like you completely wasted $60.

I regret buying Overwatch, greatest shame in my life

First, Elden Ring was the trendy thing to hate, now it's the DLC. The next From game will be the next trendy thing to hate. You will always be right.

bg3 did the same thing. by the time you get to the city in the title the content has dropped off to nothing

I bought Valheim during its height and it was shit, despite having friends that played it then. I just hate open world survival games with crafting. Did they add anything new of substance since then?

Invisible War, killed my hype for sequels.

Sorry about your loss of money and time

I have very few regrets with my purchases, I always research everything and buy it on sale. That being said I fucking hated Hitman Absolution. It's one of the only times I felt I lost money on a game

living again the DAO experience

This is the reason for like 70% of Veilguard's sales. Poor bastards.

I feel the exact same. I wonder, are you primarily a Splinter Cell fan too who doesn't give a shit about Kojimbo storytelling?

The Heist and 2 are worth it, but good lord what is happening in there Seymour?

You say this, with Battle Gear modded in since it serves zero purpose to even have it in your base. Boy do I love barren as fuck Afghanistan and Africa with boring side missions.

i just bought a copy for $300 a few months ago

The game tricks people by having the first 2 hours be pretty good.

lol no it doesn't

t. pirated it, so no post-purchase rationalization

The time I wasted on Anon Babble arguing about inane bullshit

I preordered For Honor and got to watch it start fun and slowly become not fun. I’ve never preordered a game since.

I should have pirated factorio dlc...

It's good for the missions where you have to fight several armored vehicles.

barren as fuck Afghanistan and Africa with boring side missions.

That's why I only play main missions.

Guild Wars 2, bought the stupid CE with the big Rytlock figure. Spent like 70 hours into trying to force myself to like it.

Game fucking sucks

Paying for MGSV and Nier Automata instead of just pirating them. Never trust Anon Babble getting hyped over Kojimbo and tits, these were some of the worst games I've ever played

but at least they look nice!

The mod just reskins the APC with Battle Gear.
Battle Gear was supposed to be customizable (like in Peace Walker) and to be actually usable in missions.

Also most of the main missions are boring filler that just tie into the main story with an ending codec call that says "Hmmm, this guy that we were hired to kill was actually A TARGET OF CYPHER??? Boss, let's see what we can find" and that's that. There are only 10 or so main missions that actually move the story. Where do the Bees sleep, Quiet's missions, Code Talker's missions and Eli's missions, the rest might as well ALL be side missions.

Having bought Final Fantasy XIII on release day

BotW was my first experience in the good-for-two-hours-then-garbage genre
it changed me as a person
unironically

No, the meat of the story is within the missions themselves which actually tell a lot of things going on at the time regarding the Angola civil war and Afghanistan, though you need to go out of your way to find them since it's all within conversations between characters in the missions, or by completing the mission in a specific way.
It's actually more interesting than Kojima's usual non-sensical ramblings.

dragon age origins

Just add controller support on pc BioWare, thats all anyone wants ffs.

the meat of the story actually has nothing to do with the story

ok
now tell me where Sahelantropus is
hard mode: don't mention episode 51

Some people think piracy is immoral which is wild because most of them don’t believe in God so who cares. I actually believe I could end up hell and I still pirate because I’d rather go to hell than pay money for video games. It’s crazy.

Apathetic normalfags are hard for you to imagine? I almost envy you.

You're implying that normies know to get a sample or even form their own opinions without throwing themselves fully into something they know little about.

The kikes raised these fools.

the meat of the story actually has nothing to do with the story

It has to do with the wars the game is set on, which make for something way more interesting stuff considering it's actually real and not some schizo shit about walking robots.

Then you don't actually like MG games, simple.
You just want an "operator" game and you're grasping at straws

I bought C&C4.

Space Marine 2. Only really care about multiplayer which is dogshit.

I enjoyed this game alot. Didnt care about the story altough the ending being so abrupt and repeating missions was gay but you still got enough to make it worth playing

Star Ocean: Divine Force has been my biggest regret.
I usually am good knowing a game will be bad within refund range but, for some reason, I kept playing this one in case it got good, knowing some JRPGs are very slow picking up the pace. But dear lord this game was so bad I couldn't get myself to keep playing.

theyve added a number of things but if you didn't enjoy it then you still won't like it

honestly though. Right as the game started to get interesting, and started to actually be kinda fun, it just ended. That game taught me to never get hyped, and to just be cautiously optimistic.

Haven't really had a major regret but you fucks lied to me about No Man's Sky redemption arc. It's just less buggy with more content stapled to the shitty gameplay loop and interface it had years ago.

Then you don't actually like MG games,

Exactly, I literally said that I only liked MGSV, the rest are borderline unplayable, and not because of bugs or gameplay related things, but because it's just interrupting you every 4 minutes with some cutscene.

You just want an "operator" game

Precisely, shame the only alternative is Ghost Recon Wildlands because that game's controls are utter shit.
Wish MGSV had support for piloting aircraft, helicopters and boats, and that you could deploy your own troops, never understood what's the point of building an army if you can't use it.
Though I really liked the idea of developing your own stuff, developing your own base and just putting together your own missions.
MGSV would improve vastly if it was more inspired by ArmA 3, just make it an arcade, third person version of it.

GW2.

metro 2033

After all the leaks and even the moment the trailer dropped, you'd have to be an utter fool to buy or even pirate that game.

Maybe. At minimum i load a youtube video of a game i am interested in to atleast see what it's about. Cant see how others can even do that.

The average "bro I want an operator game" idiot
go play Breakpoint

My oshi has a sponsorship for this game tomorrow, should I get it? But I don't have any friends tho

The average "bro I want an operator game" idiot

Yeah, I want games to give me options, and MGSV is tailor made for those. Shame the FOX Engine is completely undocumented so the modding scene is limited.

go play Breakpoint

No, that game is atrocious, not only it has the same shitty, clunky controls from Wildlands, but for some goddamn reason the camera is at the height of your fucking hips.
I have no idea who designed it but the game just feels terrible to play, I rather just stare at a wall.

I knew this was going to be shit the second I heard an interview with Kojima where he mentions giving in to junior developers regarding putting regenerating health in the game.
He cucked out, a compromised vision resulted in a compromised experience. It wasn't a real Metal Gear.

He cucked out around late 2011 when the plot went from being Diamond Dogs vs the USA and Skull Face being a CIA agent, to making it all non sense about Cipher.

In terms of gaming, I regret nothing more than playing TF2. This game has a grasp on my very soul which is slowly killing me. I don't have fun with the game, never have, never will. Can't stop playing though since the games I want to play are dead and no single player games that appeal to me are releasing. This game is pure suffering because I dare to not play Soldier, and actually try to improve.

Wasting like 20 hours on FF XV and then like 40 more on VIIR when i knew damn well it wasn´t going to be worth it. Could have been shitposting here instead...

Gacha shit that ended with me having to talk to my bank irl because they blocked me from using my card because they saw the payment as suspicious.

Don't worry, anon. I was at a convention today and saw this.

the fuck does that mean
