Why was this game completely memory holed? It's like it almost doesn't exist. Sales completely halted after the first month. Nobody is talking about it, and it's never mentioned in GOTY discussions. Was it really that bad or was it simply too disappointing in contrast to the high expectations and hype built up by its rabid fanbase?

The disappointment stings anon.
I'm praying for a DLC like Dark Arisen to fix some of this shit.
The best part about it is the combat but that can only take you so far.
Solo fighter best fighter.

See zoomie, this is what's called a "single player game".

They used to be the de-facto most popular type of game. They come out, people buy and beat them, and then they move on with their life. We didn't always have this Games as a Service bullshit where every game gets milked for half a decade with skins and DLC and tacked on multiplayer. People bought DD2, it sold 3 million copies, they enjoyed it and then they moved on.

Shill campaign ended
The simplest answer is generally correct.
You may look at the catalog on any given day to see what is currently being shilled.

looking up mods

find cool mods, 4 months no update

search discord to see what he's doing

someone just asked him if there were any updates

find this

basically it's just a bad game, even talented modders don't give a fuck about it

Because it was a empty
It was like an early access indie-game, there was no flavor to it at all
People still talk about BG3 despite it coming out earlier

It's fine, just like the original. Biggest problems tho are the lack of busy work like the Ur-Dragon or BBI. Some massive, repeatable dungeon to farm special gear and upgrades. Then monster variety and the fact that NG+ is just the same campaign again. Also some minor complaints about class balance and quest direction but that's really minor. If all you want is one run you get a good 80-90 hours, but if you want more you're not getting it.

There are daily threads for this game at this point lmao

The gameplay is fun but the lack of enemy variety is what killed it for me. It was just fucking lizards

day one: every PC review is about how dogshit the optimization is

terrible optimization filtered tons of PC players

content is pretty much just early game Dragon's Ligma 1 with muh graphics updates

people finishing the campaign complain that it's repetitive and there aren't enough dungeons, puzzles, and enemies

embarrassing single-player microtransactions for revive potions and teleport crystals

classes aren't different enough and content isn't good enough for people to give a shit about replay

hasn't ever gone on sale

Whoda thought. Nobody gives a shit about an extremely mid single player game from nearly a year ago. Make it $30 and we'll talk.

People still talk about BG3 despite it coming out earlier

Autogynophiles wont shut up about their AGP coomer game, News at 11.

What do you mean memory holed? I see threads for it literally every day on here. I played through it again about a month ago. Great game, still hoping for DLC but we'll see.

Its just shit. Super bland visuals with no enemy or gameplay variety. Worst 40€ spent in the past 5 years or so. Like Diablo 4, Darktide and other mid games are masterpieces compared to this. It feels like a cobbled together demo for a promising idea. Capcom is fucking dead to me after DD and the Wilds demo.

Such a shit game.
Abysmal story.
And the AI is fucking retarded.
I went to kittyland and bought a house there - and now I'm getting harassed by a guard that constantly goes "what business have you here?"
After a couple of in-game days he straight up attacked me. My pawns murdered the guy + some other retard guard that came by.
More days passed and a similar event played out where some other guard assaulted me for no reason. He too was murdered.

Stupid fucking game.

People are still actively playing single-player games on steam years after their release. A good game doesn't lose 99% of its playerbase in just 7 months. That never happens. Ever. There are more people playing 7 year old Divinity Original Sin 2 than DD2! This is some genuinely pathetic cope. You're so delusional you refuse to accept reality.

kek sekiro being above it really says it all, that game has basically zero replayability unlike the others on that list

Kek, the same thing happened to me. Turns out you need to carry the residency permit in your pocket, can't just stash it.

I mean, just look at this. In only two months it had lower online than most of these crpgs, and in 3 months it was below every single one of them, in some cases, by significant margin. DD2 probably had bigger marketing budget than all of the budgets for these games combined and it completely failed to retain its playerbase or attract new one after the first month. This isn't normal by any stretch.

Then why don't they at least ask to see my papers?
Fucking retarded AI.

remember when Capcom shills were saying that Wilds will have good performance unlike DD2, since all the competent people work on Monster Hunter?
good times

Nigga I did 3 cycles. I know every cave on this game by name. All I can do is wait for more content.

This isn't normal by any stretch.

What isn't normal is putting this much effort into tracking the success of a game when you don't own any stock in that company, you don't work for that company and you don't even own the game. Get a life.

I was wondering the same thing. Presumably because it was cobbled together from half-finished ideas, much like the rest of the game.

Oh yeah? Well I didn't even finish the desert but I know every cave by layout.

I should have simply compared DD2 to DDDA numbers. Look at where they at in 200 days. DD2 already falling behind Dark Arisen, a niche arpg virtually few people knew about back then, and steam in 2016 only had 1/3 of the user base that it has today. How are you going to spin this one you psychotic cultist?

ddda was cracked days earlier than it launched too

you zoomers are so fucking retarded and always worried about what other people are doing or thinking like little beta cucks.
worry about yourselves, fucking losers.

Because people inexplicably fooled themselves into believing the first game wasn't shit. Then they played the second game and remembered.

to further play into your retardation btw you stupid faggot those games have all been literally given away for free or gone on sale for peanuts in the 3-10 dollar range of course people are going to be playing them

for some faggot who studies chart you leave that out, tons of games can dip low then surge high later once it finally has a nonshit tier sale.

I dropped DD:DA a decade ago because it was boring slop
Glad my taste and evaluation is reflected in reality and data
DDfags are the biggest posers on Anon Babble. Their entire personality and obsession came from "heh im not a skyrim normalfag heh I only play "hardcore" western fantasy rpg made in japan heh"

t. ranny

zero argument

struck the nerve so hard he defaulted to the lowest Anon Babble buzzword

Enjoy your surgery scar, "arisen". Lmao.

It felt really rushed.
It was a techdemo for Monster Hunter's combat
it had denuvo.
I played for an hour and refunded it.

I played it for 90 hours, finished it and had a fun time and then moved onto other games. Not sure what else there is to talk about since everyone interested in it probably did the same. The threads at release were fun.

Bad sequels tend to be forgotten.

DD2 already had two 45% discounts, and it hardly made a difference on its player numbers.

What was there to talk about DD:DA for a decade?

Which is the best voc, Strider or MA (it is Strider)

The game feels like a chore to play at times thanks to fast travel being obnoxiously hard to use AND the enemy variety being almost non-existant. The most fun enemies are all locked behind the time-restricted “endgame” zone. New Game+ adds NOTHING to the game contrary to the first Dragon’s Dogma.

For those reasons there’s hardly any incentive to do more than a single playthrough.

they censored it so I never bothered playing it. the first one is still one of my all time favorite games though

It was quite a novel game and a cult classic and obviously many threads were made in anticipation of the sequel. DD2 was just more of the game, but not quite as good. Also, endless threads about the levelling system and whether or not you should optimise your vocation choices (you shouldn't, unlike your pawn inclination)

Why was this game completely memory holed?

You make multiple threads about this game every single day anon...

The worst thing about it isn’t that it’s bad, because it isn’t, or even that it’s disappointing because it's not the perfect sequel.
It's all because of hackjob itsunos lack of ambition, he didn't shoot for the stars and fall short, he rehashed the same game, but in a worse and less compelling way.
It’s a game that managed to alienate both newcomers who never liked the original and longtime fans who wanted the series to evolve.

ouch.. thats rough, it hits even worse when people say that DD2 was pretty much nothing but a WILDS test demo

one of the biggest problems with the game is that the enemies just stand around doing nothing and he was attempting to fix that

No, it's worse than it simply not existing.

Thirdie brown-rage thread? Thirdie brown-rage thread

brown.png - 834x904, 527.97K

idk, didn't care, didn't finish it despite finishing DD1 twice
story felt really fucked up and disjointed, i don't think it even mentions where you come from, what guard company you were a part of when you went to fight the dragon or who's soldiers you were
as far as i'm aware your character just exists randomly

t.ranny

anyone here playing ddo on private server?
Is it worth it playing alone or will i never find groups? Kinda in the mood for dragons dong but dont want to replay dark arisen and my pc cant run dd2

Your game is irrelevant and dead dogma maggot

for half a decade with skins and DLC and tacked on multiplayer

I dunno man.
Skins? Ehhhh yeah, but also kinda no. There were definitely games that got updates in the year(s) after that had them as a nice bonus, but they weren't MTX.
DLC? No there were definitely expacs and such that fit the same role, many of which were actually worse than they are today due to more aggressive asset reuse and frivolous licensing (or in the case of some games, no real way to restrict anyone from releasing their own expac)

No tacked on multiplayer? Get the fuck outta here. Tacked on multiplayer was constantly a standard feature. People back in the day had zero qualms about just letting you run around maps designed for a single person with a bunch of your buddies, whereas nowadays you get the whinging backseat millennials that whine about the "intended way to play" and "you have to make it a refined experience that's a cohesive part of the whole and blah blah blah." Fukken tacked-on multiplayer was the best, back when devs wanted to give you as much bang as your buck as possible. Lead to a lot of creative shit like Nox's Flagball, and I remember being a kid and loving how FF6 was 2-play.

Tacked on multiplayer

Which reminds me, member when all the crapcom drones were so vehemently against optional co-op because it'd mean the single player game would have less focus and wouldn't be as polished?
Well, it doesn't have co-op so I guess the game is focused and polished, right crapcom bros?

clown.png - 225x225, 9.06K

they keep fucking with the code so a ton of mods are now broken and its getting to the point the community is telling people how to play on older patches using steam cmdline

worse part is they destroyed a lot of random shit that no longer works trying to fix the optimization issue while barely optimizing the game

I thought that at first until I played shitty WILDS, wilds is fucking terrible and doesn't even utilize the open world properly, you see a loading screen every time you start a new quest.
while DD2 is 100% seamless the entire time, i'll give that to DD2 it's by far one of the best interpretation of a pure open world, absolutely stunning and EVERY interior is open with a unique layout - every single house interior is unique, which is something literally unheard of with open world games.

not even shitesda pulls that off with their barrage of load screens and copy pasted interiors

how it started

how it's going

leaves capcom with fake DD2

goes off to make the real DD2

lads he will lead us to salvation AND THE MOON!!!!!

Oh but something something "imagine how much worse it would've been, if you thought this was bad." There's always another cope

because the original was a niche game, made for a specific type of audience, and the sequel was in the same model

it wasn't a bad game in any way but it fell incredibly short of what it could've been. They said it was going to be the true vision of what Itsuno wanted DD to be and we got a sequel with the depth of a kiddie pool. The music was generic compared to 1. Enemy variety sucked, the game quickly ends after what feels like a midpoint and the endgame is somewhat cool but the way it's implemented is frustrating. I bought the deluxe and haven't had any desire to return after finishing one playthrough. At least I got DD1's soundtrack cause again holy shit the music sucked.

DLC can make the game so much better but Crapcom has it's full attention on MH Wilds so don't expect any possibility of an announcement will after next Valentines Day. Maybe I should just become a MH fan they seem to be doing a lil bit better.

I wanted so much more from DD2.

delicious cope
can you show me a single somewhat relevant game 60h that lost players as quickly as DD2 did?

DDON has done the impossible and has started to recover quests

story and world quests through Season 1 are available, more on the way

still can't find a damn soul that wants to play it

I want off this gay Earth

can you show me a single somewhat relevant game 60h that lost players as quickly as DD2 did?

your hairline

make up your mind
at this point it looks like you are clinging at straws

DD was always niche

can you show me a single somewhat relevant game 60h that lost players as quickly as DD2 did?

It sank dreams, and Itsuno's career. It is something best left forgotten.

DD2 enjoyers

chads and stacies all successful in life with super computers and cars

LMAO
I bet you tried though
but there is nothing
DD2 is the fastest memoryholled game in written history

It was dissapointing, thats arguably worse than just being bad. Id replay it given some time. Im still on board for more DD or an expansion, I didnt hate it like I wouldnt play more content if they added it.

Id speculate what they could add but at this point but I expect nothing but a clone of DD1 with horizontal changes, one step forward one step back etc.

BBI, but more floors

But its still just one biome, meaning it gets repetative. Shit, do an infinate dungeon where players just climb a leaderboard to see how high they can get without leaving etc

more monsters

But theyre just from BBI again

disenchant gears

But its all just shitty consumables

daimon/ur-daimon

But not as cool thematically

I wouldnt hate this stuff, the problem with DD is that you can see the springboard for where it could make something great and DD2 showed that they didnt even get on the plank, its a shame because the combat is so great yet its stuck in DD.

Runs like a bag of fucking ass, not very compelling outside of desiring to figure out when it changes from actually fulfilled DD (which it isn't) into DD2

I personally fucking hated it and dropped it after doing several castle quests back to back, and then learning that the final castle quest, attending a ball, was a cutscene that justifies you unlocking the southwestern part of the map.

It was dissapointing, thats arguably worse than just being bad.

It was like, what, a decade of goodwill down the toilet?

Released in an incomplete state and unoptimized as hell

I upgraded to a 4090 for DD2 and it was still the biggest gaming disappointment of my life.

Yea. I expected better for sure, I havent written of DD just because of DD2 though. I liked the gameplay I just wish there was more, just like DD1. DD2 gets this worse becuase its a sequel, its suppose to BE more, not have me just wanting more again.

Like, the way people talking about it has me feel like I played a different game, DD1 is still better, but it was still good, Im still on board for an expansion, if I didnt like it I wouldnt give a shit what they do with it. Shit, I want an expansion if only to add more monsters to the pool of enemies for the randomization mod if anything. That mod shouldve just been NG+, it makes the game exactly what I wanted from DD

have to pack your bags to leave town because you really dont know what youll encounter, and you cant just zip to safety whenever

getting stuck in the wild at night with no supplies, seeing shit like dullahans in the distance and having to plan my next courseof action just to make it back to town alive

Play into that, the story writing is shit, play into the gameplay aspect of going on an adventure with pawns.

how many times have we been through this at this point

One of the big problems is that you max out a class pretty quick, and the advantages of multiclassing are real slight and marginal relative to the annoyance involved in starting over. So unless you're an obsessive completionist you'll probably be completely done building your character a quarter of the way through the game, and then you spend the next thirty hours using the same moves on the same mobs over and over and over.

At least OP remembers it well enough to keep making threads about it. It's a good game just like the first, if anything it's just disappointing it didn't get a larger budget.

Zoomers saw older people excited at a sequal to an old game and started thinking this was prime time to lose their video game virginity. They thought they would become a part of some cult like zeitgeist and come into their own. When they found out it was just a sequel to an old game and not the second coming of jesus christ, they went insane. It was, and always would be, a basic action game that ran on the same engine as devil may cry.

Also as an aside. Go look up becnhmarks. Its fucking psychotic how this game was optimized. On top of that, while already running poorly, they advised this be installed on an ssd. If you install it on a normal hdd you get 5 second loading times with no real performance difference. It didnt carve out a new section for zoomers assholes and didnt run on aging hardware likely to be had by its target demographic.

capcoms first AAAA priced game

had more staff working on it than MHW

It definitely had good budget lol.
