I never played the demo but my first routes were the tower and the fury. That, and getting adversary and eye of needle right after gave me such a good first impression of the vn. It would have been a lot different if I got meh routes like nightmare or damsel first.

I picked it up after Pristine Cut but I had a friend familiar with it since before that watching me play. I felt satisfied with the end result and I probably would have hated how undercooked a few of the routes originally were.
As far as new routes go, Happily Ever After almost made me cry, Princess and the Dragon was very interesting and unsettling. And the Cage was more funny than anything to me.
And according to another watching me play in person, my reaction to the Moment of Clarity was priceless. It probably wouldn't have unsettled me as hard before Pristine Cut where she just had a cracked mask.

I initially had skepticism around a year ago that it would just be a subversion of dating sim cliches with a horror twist, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was instead a horror game that is, both at its sweetest and bleakest, a love story. It's full of so many allegories and perspectives of the dangers, sorrows, and joys of sexual and/or romantic intimacy with a recurring theme of "becoming one", and I frankly wasn't expecting it to go that deep.

I think Fury's akin to someone digging into you and invading your privacy out of anger. She's lost control of herself in her emotions, and asking over and over, "Are you still there? Are you still you?" would be literally forcing you to open up and show her what makes you you. For example, if you got to her through attempted pacifism against Adversary, she thought she understood you by finding passion in competing and arguing with each other, almost like a hatefuck. But since you refused to hatefuck her, she's frustrated and doesn't feel like she knows you. So she just becomes an abusive lover who thinks tearing you apart bit by bit will show her who you truly are.
In the end she's saddened by the realization of just how much she was hurting you.
I'm sure there's other layers to it. Blaming you for her physically abusing you if you reached her through the Tower brings to mind a domestic abuser saying, "Look what you made me do!" when they finally get physical. I thought being a dickhead to the Narrator consistently the first go around was pretty funny just to see what would happen. It reminded me of intentionally fucking with a DM in a tabletop game, and I was happy to see the results of my actions beyond essentially giving me a game over. But I think the Nightmare was where the game was actually beginning to impress and immerse me, so I didn't really mind most of my first set of 5 being simpler ones.
