This is a good one

We complain about games being re-released nowadays but imagine re-releasing the same game a few months after it's initial release, on the same console, whith the only dfferences being that now you can play with analog sticks, which fucking sucks for tank controls, and that the great music have been replaced by shitty midi made by a con artist.
IIRC only the DualShock version has the based soundtrack with bathtub farts composed by a professional grifter who passed himself off as deaf
The original Directors Cut is fine.
n
Does Christian ever find and kill the Resident Evil? Who was the architect for the mansions and will they ever release its blueprints?
bingo, Director's Cut for PS1 is probably the best version
There was always something so comfy about the save room where you meet Rebecca and get the medicine from RE1.
Made me feel safe when I was in there.
I always thought of it as dishonest game design having it be possible for zombies to be hiding off screen in rooms like that.
I like the x-ray room in REmake
I like the little greenhouse.
take the shotgun off the hooks
stretch out on the comfy couch and take a nap in total security
if something does manage to get in, nbd because I GOT A SHOTGUN
why did cover guy had a massive eye?
Either the Novistadores room or the jail from RE4
Looks like the Evil Dead
Lab entrance RE1R, you just know something awful is behind that door and whatever Umbrella was doing, it was sick. The music really sells it
The lobby of the underground lab in RE2 where you first meet the naked zombies, just shows you that shits been fucked for a WHILE down here, cuz you could see the further degradation of the zombies, even with PS1 graphics
I just realized RE0 had this room too
If you look closely, you can see two different expressions on the face, the left side is different than the right side. In both instances where Chris has appeared alone on cover art, he has been two literally two-faced.
dishonest game design
Inventing terms to avoid admitting that you're a scaredy cat doesn't make you less of a scaredy cat.
How is RE1 so good Anon Babbleros? I played it for the first time originally like a year ago and it was still amazing
It was designed very thoughtfully to allow multiple pathways with lots of exploration. It’s basically a 3d metroidvania mixed with an adventure game
is cover dude supposed to be Chris Redfield???
Yes
It was also directed by a giant pussy. He took everything that frightened him and put it in the game. That's why, despite everything, that scene in the East Corridor where the dogs bust through the window is so spooky.
I think horror designed by people spooked easily is probably better. I get spooked super easy and love horror games because of it
When I last played the game, the fourth door was locked. Why?
RE1R was my first RE game and this was the only track/scene that actually made me feel unnerved/almost scared. Jumpscare moments with cerberus/zombies breaking through windows, hunters showing up, or the crimson heads wasn't so much scary as it was adrenaline pumping, and only then its really the first time they ever show up. And things like the aqua ring with the sharks, plant 42, the giant spiders, or yawn was just silly(in a good way). Lissa was ok but not really scary, she felt like she'd be a monster from Cabin in the Woods
Getting to the lab finally captured not only a scary atmosphere but a "you're entering the last stretch" but not in a hopeful/optimistic way. Almost made me not want to enter because I was scared of what I was gonna run into. Of course the actual lab didn't deliver that much on the scares, the chimera were just ridiculous, but damn was it a good theme.
It's actually a really great story. He thought about what frightened him, and said they should put that in the game. Then, when he was reviewing it, he would turn around, wait for the scare, and when the music stopped, he would turn back around.
I agree with you whole heartedly anon. Horror made by people who are genuinely horrified by their own creation is always going to be better.
Love me staircase.
The bio monster enemies and storyline were thought up and implemented by other staff members. If it was up to Mikami it would have been some retarded Japanese ghost shit.
The first time you run into a spider in REmake is fucking horrifying. I literally threw my controller.
The Winters' home in RE8 is top comfy.
But since we're mainly talking about the classic RE games, I'll go with pic related.
It's in the residence behind the double doors that lead to the bar/pool table area with the candles right? Them being on the wall instead of the floor makes them less scary. The ones you see in the basement are scarier.
You have difficulty reading, anon. It's not your fault. You probably weren't taught phonics in school. That actually manufactures dislexia hinders reading comprehension.
Apologize

there's also a music in survivor that's all fucked up, i wonder if something went wrong when they put it into the game, just like this one. It's the lab music with klaxon sounds
I like the big moth
gobyomai
best RE music is playing
Yes it appears the game and OST version are different

as a dumb kid who sucked a lot at these games, the photo lab in the RPD was my happy place
dishonest game design
lmao you fucking pussy
a local vidya magazine having concept art of the big moth in their leader column iirc and it was one of the first vidya concepts I really appreciated
How fucked will a remake of RE Remake be?
do you guys know that if you don't kill the very first zombie you see in RE1 and instead run back into the dining hall, it actually follows you out? That's why the dining hall is my favorite room. Not at all because that was where I shut off the game and never played again.
Sheeit nigga this is actually a lot harder than I thought. I probably would lean towards the save rooms though tbqh here for obvious reasons.
like Lost in Nightmares
The save room next to the basement stairs on the ground floor of the Baker House. I made half of my saves in there. Nice cozy space conveniently placed for running to when I'm chased.
My favorite location is the terrace where you find FORREST OH MY GOOOD
If I have to pick a classic RE room, its the main hall of the Racoon City Police Station.
the room in RE4 with the pools where you lift Ashley up so she can run around and pull switches to open the way out.

Alwyas loved this part. It's just a huge wall of zombie flesh and you get to cut them in half or pop their heads with a few well-placed shotgun blasts. Feels great.
RE5 areas were kinda boring, but holy shit swamps/lake were kino. I've got RE4 village vibes
I like the comfy cabins. There's the cemetery cabin in 3. Lisa's cabin in the remake. And the comfiest one in the woods in Outbreak.
this alley might be my favorite in the game
Fuck I need to replay VII
2F Mansion Lounge with the 2F map over the fire place.
But REmake and RE0 have lots of kino rooms.
0 isn't a good game but it's where pre-rendered backgrounds peaked. So much detail and care put into every area.
Any Southern-fags here that can explain the foil on the wall above the stove?
No backsplash in the trailer and lots of greasy food in the South. Foil just acts as a temporary shield for any flying grease hitting the wall.
I love the whole underground lab area in OG RE1. It reminds me of the bunker the characters are holed up in for the duration of Day of the Dead.
What does it add besides the Arranged mode?
the office room in code veronica before the bridge to the weird mansion
I can't understand what made them want to replace the soundtrack in the first place, the original one is pretty fucking great as-is. Minus the ending theme from the original JPN tall box ver, we don't talk about that.
I had the exact same thoughts as a kid; despite not being a proper safe room, that room is pretty damn safe and comfy.
I love the rail gun room in the final battle of OG RE3. It's got such great visual storytelling with all the dead Tyrants and Special Forces guys littering the area.
Between Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, and Parasite Eve, I always loved how comfy the music was. It's a shame that the RE franchise has long abandoned that, first when they went generic movie score shit during the "action era", and then just generic ambient stuff in the "RE Engine era".
Not really a room, but I think RE5's inventory box theme is criminally underrated.
youtube.com
How am I just hearing about this?
That and the Library theme are the only two tracks that feel like proper RE to me.
It's the same difficulty as the JP version instead of the harder difficulty of the US Longbox version. This includes adding back auto-aim which the original US version is missing
that one room in re2 with leon where you light candles and my ass tightens when I know mr x will burst through the wall the second i pick up the gear
I like the festive hospital lobby in PE
Recently replayed RE1 with an uncensored patch. Haven't gotten to 2 or 3 yet so i'll ya my favorite room in RE1.
It's gotta be the Heliport Lookout room on 2F Mansion. I didn't grab a pic on the recent playthrough but something about looking out the window really sticks with me.
I played RE2 for the first time recently and this scared me so bad that I forgot to even grab the gear and didn't realize until I got up to the clock tower
The AI upscaled backgrounds look so fucking bad
I want to makeout with leon s. kennedy is my answer
This part was terrifying. What do you mean I have to go outside? Into the woods? Are you out of your mind?
I just played the original RE2, haven't played the remake yet, but the Mr. X jumpscares are so good even for a ps1 game it's so good.
It's both relatively little known and "who the fuck cares"-tier in terms of RE1 trivia. Good riddance I say, Still Dawn is great: youtube.com
What are things that REmake and RE2R do worse than OG?
Reminder that if you didn't complete every version of RE1, then you didn't beat the game.
RE1 Longbox
RE1 Advanced Mode
RE1 Saturn Battle Mode
RE1 Deadly Silence Rebirth Mode
REmake Real Survival
