Expeditioner or Expert?
About to start. What difficulty?
Are you good at timing? If you're not, lower the difficulty as you'll get rinsed if you can't time your parry or dodges correctly.
Expert.
Even if you lose a fight there isn't much punishment. You can basically just instantly start the fight again.
Ah, damn. I hate parryslop. Normal it is.
That's disappointing
Start with normal but switch to expert in Act 2, that's what I did.
That's disappointing
You won't say that after you die a 100 times to the bouncing rock.
Expert but use the mod to increase the parry window. Expeditioner and Expert have the exact same tiny parry window, which is retarded.
The parry window is extremely generous vanilla already.
no punishment for failure
can change difficulty at any time
That's lame. Sounds like it's poorly balanced and not well designed either.
I like how DOS2 does it where you can change between other difficulties, but you can only choose Tactician at the beginning of a game, and it locks you into it permanently. But that game also has the absolute best turn-based combat out there so it's not surprising that thought and care were put into difficulty settings and balance as well
Underrail and Divinity: OS1 (fuck the awful armour system OS2 introduced) are better desu.
Expert
DOS1 is good too, but I enjoyed the sequel a lot more (beat both on honour)
expert and dont do any sidequests before beating the campaign if you want challenge.
How about you just start the game instead of talking out of your ass?
Dont listen to faggots telling you to play on Expert.
Expert you can get INSTA killed on many attacks, it seems to do something like DOUBLE damage to you.
Whereas normal mode goes from easy to "decent" difficulty. Just stick to Normal mode and DONT put too many points in HP + Vitality or else you'll make the game TOO easy.
tldr: play on normal but go easy on the HP/vit stats and you'll have a decent challenge. Expert is for well... REAL experts at dodge+parry
I did start the game. I'm in the tutorial garden. Not a fan of how the movement and camera feels.
Well don't worry, you can change to it or off it at any time because the devs are spineless faggots. Difficulty used to mean something (and it wasn't just parryslop).
Having more options is always better. It's better to have these options by default, no need to mod them in.
I wish the game also had multiple save slots and a quicksave option.
Oh you're a fucking pussy. Don't go to a michelin star restaurant and bring your ketchup in to put on the steak. Fuck off. Dev vision used to fucking mean something.
Options are nice, in context and with limitations. Games should be designed around the highest difficulty and it should be a difficult but satisfying journey for the player to learn the game. All this accessibility bullshit is ruining finely tuned difficulty and disrupting any shared communal experience of a game
Retard
iF you're not playing expert why bother, casuals should be killed
Dude this game will rinse anyone that isn't a Korean Starcraft player on Expert.
Like seriously the game will become intolerantly infuriating if you try starting off at that level if you're not extremely good at QTE based events already. This isn't your standard "on occasion" QTE experience, the QTE's in 33 are literally part of the normal flow of a fight...and the enemies hit like a fucking truck even on Expeditioner.
Avoid Expert for your first play through it will literally make you rage quit.
I bet you're the type who never played Long War because "it's not a part of the developers' vision"
trying to parry everything is the fast route to carpal tunnel.
haven't played it yet
You can switch the difficulty whenever you want. It really doesn't matter. Expert is just much more heavily dependent on parrying.
Play the fucking game first THEN you can speak to me faggot
Expert is called Expert for a reason. Interpret that as you will.
You are never required to parry at any point in the game.
Gommage yourself
Unironically, yes. XCOM EU is one of my favorite games of all time. Beat it on I/I, but I played vanilla, no mods. I actually don't even like EW because it adds a lot of bloat that detracts from the game.
This.
Morons ITT saying expert is the way to go are masochists or worse: they didnt even touch the game yet.
The game is NOT made for expert unless you can parry blindfolded or know your enemies by heart after fighting them 10 times.
Miss two dodges or parries and you die on expert
Story mode. Combat is the worst part of the game.
Gommage yourself
Fromage yourself first mon ami.
forgot to mention I'm trans >_<
I'm halfway through Act 2. The first 5 or so hours are horrendous; you die in 1-2 hits and you're not used to the timings yet, but afterwards the difficulty feels just right. Perhaps even too easy, but that's what I get for completing side content before the main story.
you didn't even say what difficulty you're on bub
Expert, it should've been obvious from the context.
Maybe cause you invested too much into HP and/or defense?
not saying it's bad or anything, but i feel like HP and def stats are waaaay busted, they give out too many points.
Im at the start of act 2 and i just stopped distributing stats completely to give myself a little challenge on Normal difficulty. I find it the sweet spot if you dont go overboard with stats
food analogy
utterly retarded post
There's no more iconic Anon Babbletard duo.
I don't really play JRPGs since they've been so bad lately, expedition seems good to me. It doesn't feel too easy or too hard.
The armor was them trying to fix a big problem in the first game where you could easily cc every enemy on the first turn making fights way too easy.
That's just the norm. Most hard JRPGs are only hard early on and gets easier as you figure the game out.
curated, well-designed experience le bad
just dump a bunch of tools on the ground and tell the player to make their own experience le good
kys retard
I was hooked by the setting, characters and music but got filtered hard by the shield/banner self-destructing assholes near the beginning. Is this one of those games where it's ok to just watch it online since it props itself on its astounding presentation?
Have you never played a board game in your entire life
You are never required to parry at any point in the game.
Do an optional fight.
I'm investing everything into luck until I get to the soft cap (above 71 the crit chance barely moves) and everything else into speed. Pictos give you a ton of HP, way more than pure stats ever could. Probably, never tried it.
You can also abuse shields, reduce enemy damage through powerless + picto which makes mark reduce enemy damage, "on death" shenanigans, and more.
Just dodge when the game slows down.
board games don't have le rules
I just did your dad retard
shield/banner self-destructing assholes near the beginning
The marionette things who kamikaze on you when they die?? you only fight those enemy types a few times and i havent seen exploding shit like that again in all of act 1.
Stop being a fucking pussy and keep playing. It gets easier once you unironically git gud.
I wasted 7 hours of my life beating Sprong underleveled. I got to 90% but then I got tired parrying.
When I was a kid I remember every FFX boss being a massive roadblock that took me so long to get through and it felt so good when I finally did. I might have just been retarded but it stayed that way the whole game.
The biggest ones I remember being the monster that attacks you on the airship to bevelle and the first Seymour fight
What's considered underleveled?
I went through the first zone on expedition cause I was getting used to the parry window and was getting one shot while doing so on Expert the first few deaths. Once I got to the first boss, Gustave's 10/10 Overcharge did half of the boss's HP, and that's when I changed it back to Expert., I legit didn't even know the first boss spawned adds until I watched my friend play it for a bit, Have had it on Expert since then and have just beat Act 2. If you really can't get used to hearing the parry timing or get the feel for it, just play on Expeditioner, however I enjoy the fights based on Expert scaling cause they don't end in 2 cycles. You get benefit from Powerful/Haste. You can actually pull off character synergy and combos. Get the Shield destroying move for Maelle when you can.
Is this one of those games where it's ok to just watch it online since it props itself on its astounding presentation?
No, it's not OK, and you deserve ridicule for giving up you soft faggot. At least pretend you played the game if you don't want people to be disgusted by your streamer watching zoomer ass.
Huh.. i thought LCK stat barely increased the actual critical ratio so i never bothered... maybe im missing something?
Oh well, nice to see ppl try different strats. Good luck with the build, anon
I beat the game but I think I rushed it. I had no weapons with their level 20 skills unlocked they were mostly 16-19.
I wonder if we will ever see someone do a no hit run in this game or if its possible
Evrae, the fight that establishes Rikku as the GOAT
If you really can't get used to hearing the parry timing or get the feel for it, just dodge
What the game tells you to do. I switched to expert pretty early on. Are the enemies that different? The main thing I noticed was me taking way more damage.
wasted 7 hours trying to beat a post game boss
jesus h christ
dont tell me you did it with the damage cap too
It increases the crit rate to 35%, without any pictos. Equip a few pictos and suddenly all the "on-crit" moves become viable. Especially Lune's elemental trick + elemental genesis, shit's borderline broken
before you get the damage uncap probably
They for sure do more damage and have more health. I doubt they get extra moves or anything else. Their speed may also be innately increased, but that's just a guess.
I also got filtered by the lack of zone minimap. Didn't find the mine for the little dude underwater. Ran around the stupid village back and forth for an hour before I quit.
To be fair that little sound effect that ""helps""" you parry is very hard to hear.
I just rely on reflexes and you just gotta parry the microsecond the enemy attack CONNECTS with your character.
It's not that hard really.. muuuuch easier to parry than in fucking sekiro and the souls games where you gotta parry BEFORE the attack connects. I hated that shit
Did Frozen hearts right after getting Monaco
Became overleveled as fuck and breezed through everything till post-game
Mistakes were made, but god if it wasn't fun.
just finished act 1
Bros... all I wanted was to avenge dead gf
The cave with water does not refer to the underwater dungeon. But a later place that is a cave that has shallow water.
when one falls, anon
I hear you anon... the WORST thing about this fucking game is the lack of minimap or maps at all in dungeons.
Doesnt help that many areas look very samey and it fucks with my OCD of collecting every item in every corner. Plus the small FOV doesnt make it easy.
Fucking frogs!! update the game with a map ffs!!
he put points in hp or def
It's the best part. Retards these days need everything spelled out for them. Learn the maps dumbass, even if they look samey.
fuck yall doin?
I got into a good groove in Act 2 where dodge and parry felt satsifying but Gradient Parry completely fucked me up especially when it's woven into a lot of normal parry combos. Worse is bosses like Golgra who only throw one out at <10% HP. I was tweaking getting one shot by it even in Act 3.
I did it second try, but my group was quite strong and did multiple 9999s/turn. Fight itself took like 20 minutes and three-digit number of dodges. I opted out of parry strat due to inconsistency. Mostly focused on keeping Lune alive to have endless res to counter occasional beam timimg fuckup.
I actually had to because damage baseline in this game is too fucking high. And I dont even use maelle, monke and verso's broken skills.
lEarN tHe MaPs
Stfu Sebastian de Castlenau and put a minimap in your game froggie!!
no seriously, how hard is it to make a minimap that just generates AS you explore or some shit?? lack of map is pissing me off cause it's SO easy to miss items in hidden corners
I don't seem to have a problem with gradient parry so far, but the constant switching between jump and regular parry on some bosses can be confusing. I assume it's going to be even worse if endgame bosses mix in all 3 in long combos.
Yeah I miss majority of gradient parries. They are rare enough for me to figure actual timing and honestly usually they arent even that deadly compared to missed rhythm on 5-hit combo.
I play on normal with modded easy difficulty parrying
God this game feels like such soulless mobile chinkshit. I hate UE5 games so much.
I loved this game so much bros. I almost want to just play it again.
Actually nothing wrong with that , if that's where you find enjoyment.
Get exploring.
You can just keep the difficulty, you know.
Its still challenging but it actually feels doable for me.
Nothing finer than going from getting shit on by a boss to parrying fucking everything and taking no damage.
Yeah its the first JRPG style game where instead of grinding to beat a boss you literally just git gud
I got 'gud' by just exploring and staring at the wall of texts in the picto screens
Expert's good if you're not casual.
Same. Should have listened to the gestral telling you to go back.
Same here.. i beat that optional boss guy who jumps at you over and over in that optional place with the sheep and rabbits area, just by parrying him like 30 times in the fight over and over.
Took me ages to beat and if he hits me i would have died in 1 or 2 hits but didnt.
Once you learn bosses patterns, it just Feels good mang
zoomers don't know how to use a compass
You really are the dumbest, brownest, generation in human history.
If you're interested in the story, which is very gripping, you probably want to play it on normal just to speed things up.
but if you're a true gamer, you'll play this on expert setting only because I really do believe it is the intended difficulty settings but they created two easier modes to prevent the game from filtering lorefags
you'll die a lot, but you'll learn to get good, which is what makes expert mode the only mode worth playing if you want that high risk high reward satisfaction
worst part is the back to back encounters with cutscenes inbetween like lampmaster and bosses onward. they usually throw a much easier version to teach you the fundamentals about that boss but the phase 2 are usually pretty tough
Expert or pussy
Anyone figured out how to do a save transfer from a pirated version?
energizing death passive
energizing revive
lune revive
perilous parry allow maelle to take extra damage
maelle take damage for lune
sciel performs heal and uses items to revive lune if she's hurt
just use maelle as a meatshield to learn the attack patterns, every time she dies you get AP returned to Lune to revive, everytime Maelle comes back she blocks for Lune again, you literally can keep doing this to learn the pattern
this wont work for later bosses since they often attack the expedition but for most mobs it's a good way to learn and practice without wiping
It's 15 frames for parry, 22 for dodge on BOTH normal and expert. You just take more damage on expert, that's the only difference.
For comparison, Sekiro gave you 30 frames, so this is quite a bit tighter.
You're not meant to parry every attack otherwise there would be no point to any of the RPG systems as parrying avoids all damage entirely and auto-counters with a fuckton of damage, so health, defense or any builds at all would be completely pointless.
I don't know why people get hung up on this. No one starts Elden Ring and goes "okay I'll just perfectly frame everything, fuck putting points in vigor that's a waste".
what do you guys think about the parry? I think it's cool but I'm ignoring a lot of the tactical aspects of the game. I don't need to figure out a tough fight like in the usual JRPGs I just need to get used to the boss timings and BTFO him with counters
I didnt say it was flawless. I still get hit and shitted on. Its just slightly less frustrating.
French or English?
Expeditioner if you want to actually play the game at a normal pace
Expert if you don't mind getting one shot if you make a mistake and having to do the walk back every time, don't get me wrong though, you'll still get one shot in normal mode
difference is this is turn based so the expectation of achieving perfect parry every turn is more realistic than perfect parrying in an action game
vitality really is useless in this game
You're not meant to parry every attack
Only things I found myself unable to parry are the projectile/spit attacks.
I don't need to memorize patterns I just BTFO them with proper strategy that also shits out more damage than augmented counterattacks.
parryslop
zoomer brainrot has ruined the human race.
Its the opposite for me weirdly
Those fucking enemies that suicide when they die
english. i tried french thinking it would line up better with the lip sync but it doesnt, aparantly the lip sync WAS meant for english its just not matched up for some reason. Also the casting is better in english. some of the best voice acting i have seen in a game
The game is much more similar to Sekiro if you want to compare it to Fromsoft and in Sekiro you are expected to parry everything
English lipsync isn't exactly great either. I blame it on the engine.
From what I understand, it's like Paper Mario.
Expert unironically isn't hard enough it's too easy to break the game I'm in act 2 and I've been hitting damage cap since I got roulette most boss fights get destroyed before I can learn their mechanics I've been actively avoiding encounters because I feel like I'm overleveling despite not grinding at all picrel spoiler boss died in 2 turns
If you aren't illiterate, French.
Avoiding encounters sucks because some of them have unique drops. They probably gave up on balance after the first act and just moved the difficulty to the post endgame.
Play with this then
Forgot image I'm retarded
Sekiro's parry window is literally twice as generous, what a disingenuous comparison.
English, matthew cox, jennifer english, and you get mother fucking clive rockwell too
but on your second playthrough, do french
Im around lvl 25-ish and the game has become so easy i dont even get to pull of the big dick combo skills anymore because everyone is dead before turn 3.
Sciel is already at 9999 damage and Gustave is around 8k.
Literally me with Auto-death and Death Explode at the start of every fight.
Play it on Expert and learn how to parry.
The beginning of the game is the hardest part because you have shit hp, shit defense, shit damage besides 10/10 Overcharge, no revive skills and only 1 Revival Tint.
Also protip for most of the retards that call the parry window too small or unfair: almost every attack has a visual and/or audio cue for when you have to parry.
What the hell, this optional dungeon is big. I just wanted to take a little detour after getting Esquie. I wonder if I'll get to fight the big mountain-eating dude.
I would legitly double boss HP maybe more so people can actually see the fights and aren't punished for optimized builds
I don't even have to parry most encounters the bosses die before they get to do anything less iframes wouldn't fix that
I wonder if I'll get to fight the big mountain-eating dude
No
I'm leveling VIT/AGI/LCK evenly on literally every character, how fucked am I? Still pretty early on though, just got Maelle, heading for the village.
FUCK YOU
Did you get this?
I have 20 respecs in act 2 you'll be fine they give you enough to be retarded 5x over and I'm half way into the game
Love this game but it's in desperate need of a qol patch and an enemy scaling up option. It becomes far too easy to break around the end of act 1.
I don't think it's fair how insanely strong Maelle is as a solo fighter.
Equi all solo fighter Lumina
Equip Madelum
Refresh Virtous Stance every turn
Parry for 9999 damage in every single one of the enemy's turn
I locked in and did it in my first try. Probably would have given up if I fell or known what the reward was though.
you're good, most weapons scale with 2 of those 3, handful of them scale with DEF and that's it.
You'll just not be as strong as if you only picked 2 of those stats to max, but you will be able to change weapons more often
Maelle doesn't have a strong multi hit aoe skill
Easier than it looks but the reward is absolute dogshit
>Parry for 9999 damage in every single one of the enemy's turn
Meh. My elemental trick Lune deals 8x9999 damage to all enemies every other turn. It's wild that Maelle gets to do this so early though.
I know I have really bad sense of localization, but what the fuck are these maps? Its like I keep going in circles, since the areas look pretty alike from each other
and the combos in Sekiro are still harder to parry because the game is harder
That's okay you're about to hit a difficulty spike where multi hits start mattering because one character doing a single 9999 attack won't cut it.
spend the points accordingly based on your weapon, I used to be a ATK dumper but you actually maximize quite a bit of your attributes if you spec them to match your equipped weapon
vendors will refresh respec mat from time to time
There's a compass use it to distinguish what directions you've gone and which way you came from
Siding with Verso is supposed to be the good ending.
Don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand he's right, but I think the way Lune stared him down was how I was feeling in the moment.
ITT square enix target audience
Neither of them is really the "good" ending is the thing. There's no perfect golden ending, one way or another the cycle of grief has fucked things beyond easy recovery.
climbing is easy because you will grab onto ledges automatically. Don't try to land carefully on a small object because you can easily overshoot the jump, just smash your face into the side of the object and you will climb on top of it
Expert with modded parry, I need the TRUE SOULS experience so that I really can feel the suffering.
I'm in the area of the first Axon and I'm just bored.
All the environments look the same and the characters blend in. Looks like pure UE5 dogshit. Reminds me of Forspoken. All the gameplay I've already seen. I don't care about the characters and there's nothing appealing about the story and I don't want to constantly juggle which lumines to pick if I'm fighting an optional boss that's actually difficult in comparison to the main game. I have so many of these pictos that it's a chore trying to learn the lumines because you can't even sort by learned/unlearned. I swear there's like 200 of them in my inventory at this point. I tried fighting one of the optional bosses and there's one attack he does that I think you have to parry 9 times and if you fuck up even once you don't get to counterattack. It's all so tiresome at this point.
What Expert really needs is like, 2x enemy HP minimum. More in Act 3. You barely even get to see any attacks to parry as is!
Are the deluxe outfits really worth it?
that Renoir fight is ludokino but his vanishing move is bullshit I can't read it, also why don't party members re-appear when you stun him?
>Siding with Verso is supposed to be the good ending.
genociding an entire world because one man would be sad otherwise is the "good ending"
According to who?
zoomer moment
expert
It's escapism!
Can't you see?
It's not healthy.
The timing on the nu-parry is pretty generous i would press it way early and had time to do it again before he even finished the vanish animation
It's swimsuit for Verso, isn't it?
It's a swimsuit for Monoco
Anybody else try this immediately or was it just me?
Yeah
According to who?
Did you see Maelles ending? Versos was pretty grim but Maelle ending is just depressing for everyone
The only reason these are remotely difficult is the retarded camera not being directly behind your character.
It's funny how it takes a WESTERN STUDIO to force korean animators to get off of making a billion ptw gachashit titles to put out a single good game. I hate the asian videogame market so much.
Fuck this shit then
It's just in mans nature, you know
everyone
For Verso and Maelle sure. But the rest of them get to live happy lives. Thousands, maybe millions, of people who would be dead get to live instead.
Expert, after Act 2 balance goes out the window if you know what you are doing and you will blaze through the content. Even before that to a degree but the damage cap limits you heavily
30 devs + 8 animators can design one of the best JRPGs in years
that dumb nigger KJH can't even handle a single gacha game with 50+ employees
We're never going to see that ARPG, are we?
Also, Lies of P is pretty good.
How on earth are you people getting lost? The maps are basically corridors with side-paths for treasures AND they clearly highlight the correct way to go at splits with lighting. No fucking wonder modern games have yellow paint everywhere, you're all disappointments.
I wonder how far you can get without uncapping?
Expert only increases monster damage anyway, right? So it barely matters.
There are people this bad at the game on here
lmao I would already be killed in game and my reflexes are good enough to be cruising through expert
I have no problem in finding the correct path, that's not the issue here. The problem lies when you're a completionist and want to find every single little goodie on the map.
Story for me, I fucking suck at parry
your party build and tactics start mattering a lot more later in the game (although parrying also still matters)
One mistake and you die, so perfect parry forever. Would take time but it would be doable. I honestly feel like the final boss is designed for 9999 damage cap cause if you do any amount of side content and be like 60-65 you end each phase in one turn
Expert
Don't be a fucking pussy
Maelle/Verso fight apparently has dialogue during the fight
don't see any of it because they just get fuckin deleted in one turn
leaner and more efficient studios is the path forward.
the world is already dead, anyone brought back is just a hollow facsimile meant to make Maelle feel like she's not enslaving thousands of people to distract her from being mega-sad all the time. Neither ending is "good" but Verso's is more bittersweet than "you just doomed these characters to an eternity of suffering"
... they're not really people though.
Expert, don't be a pussy. Just started act II and I've beaten everything I've found but some of the danger red zones(pink chromatic sheep is the only one I've done so far) and the big guy in the ocean.
Why the fuck can flying enemies still dodge abilities when they're stunned? The more I play this game the more I hate it. So tired of this shit.
No one is trapped for eternity. She tells Verso after she defeats him "what if you could grow old?" They all have normal lifespan like any other human
So I just got to Clea and I'm about lvl 80 with msxed weapons. Sure I can hit some nice numbers with monoco for like 2 million damage with the void dragon / dualiste, but how the fuck do people do like 100m dmg instakilling the super bosses?
My current setup is Verso as a complete glasscannon 1 hp build, Maelle focusing on virtuoso stance and monoco just shitting out damage, but not even close to what I am seeing other people do.
If they think, feel, act and live like people then what difference does it make?
implying Alicia wouldn't just restart everything from zero if/when Painted Verso dies of old age over and over again until she dies
Nah. When I switched to Expeditioner to try it out, enemies died way faster than in Expert even though I was doing the same shit
first Act 2 Boss fight
fuck me
I miss gustave...
How could they do this to him
I think I made a really big mistake
NTA but it felt that Spring Meadows enemies hit harder then Flying Water enemies. I did get buttfucked by Gobo tho
Vestros logic was that having Gustave around would just make it harder for Alicia to leave, but if anything experiencing the death of another older brother probably made her want to cling to Vestro more.
Time for you to use those parry skills you've been honing.
how do I make this game not both look and run like shit
it'll be fine!
I'm not even a pervert who would get off on shit like this, but yet, yes, I tried, just to see if the developer would let him and if they cared.
I'm getting flashbacks to Detroit: Beyond Human revealing that Alice was an android the whole time because David Cage wanted to test whether the player truly would accept the message of the game but in this case I'm actually conflicted about coming to an answer.
that jumpscare at the ending
It really is fucked up how it feels so wrong yet so bittersweet.
When Verso did 7,000 damage and it didn't even make a noticeable dent in the healthbar, I decided that I should probably cut my losses
no wonder the usual Discord raiders are seething so hard
Your game is shit and you should stfu before you farm enough hatred to sink your next project.
Is this the most depressing rpg out there?
You have this whole inspirational shit of all the expeditions working together and feel some pride of all the expeditions laying the groundwork for those that come after, finally defeat the paintress and then BOOM everyone fucking dies.
And then you realize your whole life is fake and you're just some fucking plaything creation and everything you love and care about is better off being dead so your creator can spend her time being an actual housewife and not spend her time all day online with her fake friends in your fake world.
The hardest part about this game are unironically the Gestral BS
Dominique Giant Feet
he never uses his fucking feet when attacking
And the worst part is that I KNOW they did this on purpose FUCK YOU
that gestral beach with the climbing
This is literal RNG
If gustave was alive and found the truth...
Which side would he support
Does it even matter how you build your party or what skills you use if you can just parry everything? And on the flipside is it possible to make parry ignoring builds and beat the game?
Where the fuck does the last part of this song play? I don’t remember hearing it in the entire story. Is it side content? youtu.be
Verso honestly
Expeditioner. the game likes to fuck you with variable timing rythms like that fucking Trombone guy or the Mime mofo.
Yes, later on your skills vastly outdamage the parry.
And on the flipside is it possible to make parry ignoring builds and beat the game?
Early game will be impossible, at least on expert, later on you have lots of options. Shields, damage reduction, etc. Should be possible.
There's definitely potential for parry-focused build (solo Maelle with the arena luminas would prob be a beast if you could parry consistently) but you can get even early a lot of strong synergies that ramp up damage
I've been nuking bosses with Lune's lightning crits and it's been pretty fun
Gustave out of everyone wanted to save his people above all.
I dont think hed abandon them and go with verso.
Stop story skipping.
he cared about maelle way more than anybody else
I think if it came down to it, he'd sacrifice himself (again) to save Maelle
Did anyone even playtest this volleyball shit
you physically cannot shoot back quick enough to return some of these shots
You can. Doesn't make it any less painful. I fucking hate minigames in JRPGs.
His whole motto is "for those who come AFTER"
He would be abandoning the "after".
RIP Gustave though, they took you too soon.
Those fucking painter rats
mine is mostly the overworld, dungeon bosses where quicksave didn't kick in yet unless you force it with picto swapping or camp resting really "quick"
Maelle gets a future if she leaves the canvas
she's trapped in a fantasy of her own making until she dies if she stays
Maelle IS those who come after
Maybe there's some input delay or something? webm related is me literally spamming RB as fast as I can just to make sure, and there's like a good second before you can parry again
When did you realize Monoco is the best party member?
feetfag
Disgusting, only faggots would like him.
He would not sacrifice his entire world for her.
Since the trailers, his Chad voice gave it away.
Did that chocobo race with just a couple tries on the remake. Don't know if they made it easier but I couldn't do it back then on the ps2.
Minigames put soul in JRPGs
Why are there like no debuffs from the enemies? I feel like there's no reason at all to even have dispel pictos. Granted I just finished act 2, so there's some left but still.
I'm still at the "not sure what to do with him so I'll just leave him as a buff/shield bot" stage so Verso's my boy. Monoco's cool but I'm just paralyzed by all the options. Maybe once I get some boss feet he'll come into his own.
I miss when the game had a damage cap...Im not really the type of player who likes to hold back. I like to give it my all and I expect the game to do the same. My only 'restriction' is I wont use characters I dont care for to begin with, so I dont care about using Maelle even though shes the most broken character, but that doesnt mean Im just gonna hold back on everything.
beat game
went to revive noco
died to folgra. guess i have to get good at timing her shit.
im using like basic attack free aim pictos with the dualetto purple dildo swords on verso and using beast man ap reverse order weapon with shields and healing/ap giving abilities
guess ill retry because her timing switches up when shes mad
They definitely fucked up the balance for all the act 3 content. You can be hitting 9999 in act 1 too so its just odd how weird the damage vs health curve is. I was running around sub 1k HP for the longest time dropping nukes on people
enemies can get enrage/berserk and shit so im guessin you want to steal them with sciels stuff
I'm pretty sure they downplayed a lot of the minigames difficulty in those FF ports/remasters. Things like the impress the nobles minigame in 9 is also significantly easier than it was on the ps1 version.
Do you unlock the prologue outfits at some point? Maelle's tomboy getup + Gustave's boyfriend suit.
Was fairly not impressed by Old Lumière compared to the rest. It was linear as fuck and 2 enemy types. The Renoir fight saved it.
Just reached the Siren biome and it's already much better.
Yes. Don't remember where you find them, but yes.
muh broken shit
These are the people who use guides to play the game.
he cant figure anything out on his own
Must suck to have such low IQ
I just got Monoco. Are there any mobs I should go back for? I did all the groups between forgotten battlefield and his station. Seemed to have quite a few older ones but I'm wondering if there are any skills to go pick up for him in the earlier areas.
Best DPS is Verso. I haven't unlocked damage cap and he is an one man army. The girls waste a turn or two for setup, but Verso with the dualisto applies buffs and debuffs through base attack and shots, gets back at least 4 AP through base attack, and then follows up with a high damage skill.
did you miss the areas right at the hedge walls before renoir
you will come across things you would have missed pre monoco if that helps you feel better about "missing" shit.
just fight the overworld stuff you can and move on.
The world is already gone. The people she revived wouldn't be the same people. And the Canvas would still be erased when Alicia dies in the real world. It's just passing the buck down the line, except now Maelle dies with them.
Douuuuuceeeeur~
Couuuuleeeeeeur~
Douuuuuuceeeur~
Couuuuleeeeeeur~
Unless you purposely restrict yourself its kinda harder NOT to get broken in act 3.
This game is very easily breakable if you're not a retard so they put a damage cap bandaid for most of the game. It's fun but not balanced at all.
uses guides
looks at walkthroughs
knows the exact location of every overpowered picto
assembles it exactly as the guide says
You're the same sort of faggots that searched up guides for Souls game didn't you.
Holy fuck, you may as well play in easy fucking mode.
After you complete the next main story area, you get another one of Esquie's stones which opens up the map a bit more. Then is probably a good time to backtrack.
Sick, I might do an Expert NG+ run I guess.
No one in here saying to play on Hard/Expert has actually beaten the game. Expert inflates the enemy HP by around 3/4x and your damage taken about the same.
Made it to Paintress fight and finally switched to Normal after dying 4 times on runs that each lasted 10+ minutes just for Phase 1.
This is Anon Babble, 99% of these faggots haven't played the game, or are using Mods to increase the parry/dodge window or using Cheat Engine to give themselves massively inflated XP.
You can't do more than 9,999 damage per hit until AFTER you've beaten the Paintress
If you attack right as it gets hit, you HAVE to get hit a second time otherwise the delay will be impossible to match up. That volleyball one was worthless
wouldn't be the same people
Except she brought back Lune and Sciel and they had their memories.
Lune with free aim + mayhem can be done in 1 turn, add Sciel's intervention and genesis can also be done before the enemy gets a turn.
How should I upgrade my stats? I've just been spreading them evenly so far.
I've been using a sword that burns on light-crits plus the "gain 2 ap on applying a debuff" picto letting me spam high-end skills. Verso absolutely fucks shit up no matter what you do, even when you're not being optimal like I am.
That's some unhealthy projection anon
Everything up to the Paintress is a joke, and she is the first reality check. The problem is immediately after you just go bonkers past the cap. I think the overall balance is fucked regardless, more than half the abilities in the game are trash and everyone has like 5 good ones
8x9999 is 80k damage each turn
Turn on DLSS nigga
team pet is immortalized
She brought Lune and Sciel back like 10 minutes after they died, everyone else has been dead for a lot longer.
I just put like 20 points into vitality, some into speed if needed, and then the rest into whatever stats their weapons want, changing if needed
The game shits out respecs so this is fine
You should upgrade Bobir to diamond, also equip fent reactor on Avery for infinite energy.
Once you unlock the Damage Uncap, yeah, it's easy as hell.
And with 99 Agility and 99 Might with a level 19 weapon you aren't doing 9,999 with each strike even with Powerful. So what's your point?
Ignore Might. Spread it evenly on vit/agi with a bit of def or vit/def with a bit of agi, add luck when your skills need crit.
Are you retarded? You can easily hit damage cap before the two axons.
My point is you're a retard that doesn't even know how to get 8x9k
You have no clue if that means anything in that universe where people can paint entire worlds and creations from a brush.
3060 ti poorfag here, all settings on high, 1080p@60fps, DLSS on quality, no frame drops ever (it micro stuttered a couple times on entering a new area, but that's just a UE5 thing I gather). I have the FPS counter always on, so I know I'm not lying.
Can easily hit damage cap
The week Anon Babble was down was really nice because I didn't really run into retarded niggers who can't read. Key word in my post was "EACH" strike. Try again Tyrone
Because it's not possible on Expert you stupid ass nigger. You're damage/attacks are weaker compared to Normal.
At least PLAY the fucking game before looking at retarded ass webms and thinking you know what you're talking about.
Vit/Agi/Luck until 20 Vit. This gives enough of an hp cushion for the early game. Upgrading your weapon gives the best increase in damage, and those items start dropping like candy later on so use them up when you can.
Agi/Luck until 35 Luck. I think this is one of the breakpoints for luck.
After this, most of your stats will come from pictos, so dump the rest into your damage attribute.
You also get plenty of recoats so respec whenever you want.
its really easy to outpace enemy damage by over-investing in defense, on normal mode
just equipping a +def picto and you can face tank everything
if you don't want to fuck up the game then just do an even spread of stats, trying to minmax in any way at least in act1/2 is pointless
Go back and get the greatsword cultist and the shield guy.
nexusmods.com
this mod fixes the retarded back end UE5 settings the devs "forgot" to turn off/adjust
What about AGI? A lot of people online parrot VIT 20, AGI 47, LCK 35 as the must have "soft caps".
It is not. I have only played the original Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door, but both of those games could be completed without passing the QTEs. E33 if you fuck up a parry could cost you the life of whoever's targeted. You can't miss much without being heavily overleveled.
Idk looks woke. I wont be buying it.
He's really strong but his AP generation sucks. I use him to kill enemy packs in 1 turn, but on bosses I switch him out.
There's no need to care about specific numbers, you gain 3 points per level with a max of 99 levels.
barefoot asian waifu and jailbait following you around is woke
nope
I played the Switch remaster of Super Mario RPG and in that game you have to block when you're attacked with every party member, and the timing is different per each enemy and each of their attacks BUT you still take some damage and don't get to counter. This mechanic is pretty essential though, you take way too much damage otherwise.
What's the best place to grind for lvl99?
I dump them into whatever has the highest scaling for what I am using.
Lune has 99 luck, maelle has 99def, verso has 99 agi, etc. I'll fix it later when I get better weapons
I SEEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUU
I FEEEEEEEEEEL YOUUUUUUUUUU
parry windows are 0.15 sec
What the fuck were they thinking, even fromslop an ninjaslop is more generous
From games have a lot more to consider while parrying. In this game your entire attention is just on pressing the button.
It's 15 frames I think, so 0.25 sec, 0.15 sec would be almost impossible. Sekiro is 30 frames = 0.50 sec
They thought you would stop obsessing over parries and play it like a JRPG instead
is that 15 frames on quality mode or performance mode?
I like not having a minimap and I'm usually someone that prefers having one. It feels less stressful and I think it's cool since it's supposed to be mysterious and shit out there.
Slaving away at my job and taking my time
Ugh, it's 15 frames at 60 fps, and then interpolated to whatever your actual framerate, so 1/4 of a second
Lame
>>>quality mode or performance mode
That sad "oh" when you run into Gustave's grave replica in the Monolith
I missed that where was it?
I got the game, does it have cute girls
yes
In the Monolith, towards the end of act 2, after the replica of the battlefield. Did you not notice that you were retracing the 33's steps?
look up Simon since I just one-shotted him and thus skipped phase 3
he has 20 hit combos with no real visual queue because they come immediately after in sparks
How is any normal human supposed to do this
getting filtered by boss on expert (Bridge in Act 2, second kept dying at last 20%)
fuck it drop to story mode
literally can't lose even with zero picos equipped.
I got zero satistfaction out of hte fight but hoyl shit what a contrast. Fucker legit only did like 50 dmg max a hit where on expert I could take MAYBE 3 hits total before total control of the fight goes out the window.
Oh, the face in the dirt? So thats what it was.
I see, I can't confirm since I only ever played the original SMRPG briefly when it was originally released and never again. But in this game, while it varies, it tends to be that if you miss a button prompt for a larger attack it will take anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 the character's health. It depends on the enemy and whether the attack is a multi-hit, or if it hits the entire party, but as a general rule it's quite punishing. You can build around it if you have poor reflexes to receive more action points, but I don't think it would offset the greater damage you take unless you had freakishly high HP and Defense
Ahem...
FUCK THE DAMAGE CAP
Anything but EZ MODO
It's easier to anticipate an attack that to press the button te exact moment your character gets hit. Also, parries in fromsoft games break combos immediately.
The easier parries mod says it's 0.15 seconds not 15 frames.
Unlike most JRPGs, I have to either dodge or parry. The former is more difficult for me.
Thoughts on Clea?
Did you not notice that you were retracing the 33's steps?
I noticed the familiar battlefield. But I just assumed it was a reuse of assets.
Can't tell if she's supposed to be a bitch or just French.
people are complaining about parry/dodge because they are playing at 30fps with high frame times due to older hardware, which is making it have an input delay
if you are playing on 30fps with high frame time or laggy monitor/tv, try the easier parry mod on nexusmods
I keep seeing this is turn based. Is it turn based in the Octopath sense, the ATB FF sense, or more like Rebirth type turn based?
It's like 90% cute french girls being adorable and angsty while covered in gore and dirt
It's a turn based French modern JRPG with quick time events and interactive parry/dodging button during the enemy turn.
ATV FF sense. But you have the chance to parry or dodge your opponents abilities when they do their moves. You basically get oneshotted if you don't so you have to keep alert during the defending phases.
Super Mario RPG turn based with timed hits.
It's like FFX, you get to see the upcoming turn order and nothing can interrupt your own turns. The only difference is during enemy attacks you get to dodge/parry their attacks.
Renoir's drafts. There's close encounters near the second camp to rest at and they give a couple million each as well as dropping weapon upgrades items and colors of luminas
The lamp boss was the first time I died actually, I played with my food too much and the second form fucked me up. I'm a few hours after that and it hasn't been as bad, I simply now prepare that against any boss I can't fuck around trying to set up crazy massive damage.
Man, how I played FFX the first time is wildly different to today. I remember my first time fighting Flux I just chain-Aeon overdrived him to death because I thought he was bullshit. Now I can't even do just a No Sphere Grid/No Aeon run without throwing a few more restrictions on top of that because it just feels too easy.
Huh, that actually sounds pretty interesting. Being able to still do something during enemy turns to mitigate damage was one of my favorite things about Paper Mario/Mario and Luigi games.
Thanks.
Just finished Old Lumier. How much left of act 2 do I have?
floating autistic barefoot asian witch
tomboy jailbait who wears tight clothes
some sort of sentient mannequin blue mage
annoying horny brown lesbian benchwarmer
old guy with a sword(me)
nice
This one had tricky hidden places.
Also, there is one very challenging hidden boss.
I don't think you are supposed to fight those guys at the level you can encounter them the first time. I bashed my face against them about 10 times but found it nearly impossible, despite the normal area boss being fairly easy.
Actually, I can go to a michelin star restaurant and bring ketchup. I'm paying bitch, don't like it lick my fucking ass lol
