Just a reminder on the most respected RPG board on the internet voted Jagged Alliance 3 as the best RPG of the Year 2023, with BG 3 taking second place.
Just a reminder on the most respected RPG board on the internet voted Jagged Alliance 3 as the best RPG of the Year...
do they have an all-time ranking?
0 reason to played 3 when 2 and 1.13 are a thing
I am ok with that. I love both BG3 and JA3.
inb4 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
yeah, but they weren't released in 2023.
doesnt seem like it but maybe its somewhere in there
rpgcodex.net
nu-codex is in a sad state, and you can see that with other runner ups including
5/10 game made by forum member
nothingbuger DLC for underrail
lies of P for some reason
JA3 is a better game than BG3 though more in the tactics regard than in roleplaying. both are outdone by Rogue Trader in respect to roleplaying, however
both are outdone by Rogue Trader in respect to roleplaying
LOL:LMAO even!
the most respected RPG board on the internet
considers a tactics game an RPG
Thanks for letting me know they can be safely ignored, whoever they are.
KEK I went to the forums and this is the first thing I see
JA3 is a better game than BG3 though
no ja3 story is a lot more cringe than even bg3 to be considered a good rpg. Literally every npc is a walking reddit meme or real life reference.
has branching questlines
has character skill trees and build variety
has dialogues with skillchecks and multiple choices
Anon, JA3 is an RPG and anyone who tells you otherwise is a faggot.
oh noes you're not allowed to have your characters based on 90s and 80s movie action heroes
jokes are not allowed
Kill yourself. I love it.
don't care opinions from past-lilura rpgkikedex
might be an issue with your expectations. people love the humor of the mercs in these games, they just ooze personality.
Terminal contrarianism
first time getting Fox and Wolf at the same time
I could not believe the naughty bants they have.
>has character skill trees and build variety
The most retarded argument ever, games like DoW2 have this.
>has branching questlines
>has dialogues with skillchecks and multiple choices
This is a maybe but if that's the case they deviated too much from the previous games which are tactics games with a noticeable strategic component and some quests.
Cyberpunk
lmao
JA2 wasnt full of cringe, juvenile jokes, you didnt have a npc spouting memes on every corner. Arulco felt like real place unlike JA3 niggerland which was just a joke from start to finish
Codex is a tranny board nowadays.
Codex was good when it was Interplay message board refugees. It's just been a pile of slavs and brazilians for ten years now.
tranny board
slavs and brazilians
which is it then
Codex is somehow worse than current Anon Babble
It's just been a pile of slavs and brazilians for ten years now
The only people actually keeping these types of games alive live in hovels.
is there a spiritual successor to JA2 I can play instead?
They're both great so sure. Wish the Jag guys had more time and budget to polish their game a bit.
Nope and never will be, those games dont sell
closest is silent storm sentinels I guess, but it's way different
I would be cute and say both but in reality it's slavs and brazilians. I'm sure there are some trannies too but they aren't the fifty thousand posts across five accounts people that drive the codex now.
Every board is a tranny board, estrogen is like crack to nerds.
Have it in my backlog, is it good?
I just smoke actual crack
The game has so many great things but it is too low budget to appeal to normies.
Athmosphere, immersion and RP wise RT is top tier. Its has strong shortcomings, but in different areas.
JA2 is just as cringe. You're just blinded by nostalgia.
You're just a fucking moron Boris. JA2 was the same shit.
I love making this nigga good the only issue is that just like everyone past tier 1 the primadonna prick starts asking for alot of money.
No it was not and its not just mine opinion theres a reason that game was divisive for old fans, JA2 wasn't Hot Shots 2. It wasn't a parody of a war story, it was a war story with a comedic tone.
despite the memes
a tactical game with RPG elements is voted a best RPG of 2023 just for contrarian points
it's actually not an indication on what has become of codex as a whole
just an indications of active retarded contrarians boting 1/5 votes for BG3
the same is evident in the raw data for Pillars of Eternity votes back in best of 2015
they do form the most vocal minority of codex though
so I guess it kinda is an indication of the state of the forum
You need to keep them happy and get them together with their friends. If you group them with people they hate that could lead to problems.
JA3 is pretty decent when compared to 2 though. The only people who really didn't like JA3 were the people who for whatever reason genuinely thought they were getting a 1.13 sequel.
slavs and brazilians
not trannies
kek
I know about that I think after you keep leveling up they all start asking for raises regardless of how happy they are and some of them ask for more money than others.
waited months for Patch 8 to finally start my first BG3 run
Expedition 33 drops in the meantime and looks extremely promising
this thread made me realize I'm postponing JA3 since the GOTY dropped
You don't have to keep all the expensive mercs hired all the time. The games has a management part to it so you gota fiddle your money and choose what to spend on.
You're fucked. Both BG3 and JA3 are massive. Expedition 33 is the shortest so you should probably start with it.
That reminded me back in JA1 99% of the mercs couldn't be re-hired after being dismissed, no matter the reason. Firing Tex in JA1 was a good way to softlock yourself, since he badmouthed you to everyone else.
Felt really good when I finally hired Mike, Scully and Magic to retake the final sector, though.
I can't remember JA1 at all. The chainsaw guy everyone hired on day 1 that they didn't ever put in JA2, I think that's my only memory. Fidel is really important in it too.
3 is on par with 2. 1.13 is overrated bloat.
I win the contrarian-off, no one can top that
"Unusually Ruthless" Reuban used a hedge trimmer, not a chainsaw.
Massive? Though I surely expected less this doesn't look too bad. (Just for the sake of comparison: BG3 is at 71.5/114/173/115 Hours) I'm usually doing completionist playthroughs by the way.
Expedition 33 is the shortest so you should probably start with it.
OTOH it's just got released, meaning bug fixes, balance patches and maybe more content is coming in the next few months. I usually wait until the development concludes but this really looks a FOMO worth playing while it's fresh.
Reuben has been added to JA2 in 1.13.
I guess i play too slow and fiddle in the menus too much since it took me 104 hours to complete.
JA3 isn't an RPG it's a strategy/tactical combat game with light RPG elements
Think XCOM with deeper inventory/skill system and quests and some dialogue choices
JA2 wasnt rpg but in 3 they doubled down on RPG elements its really hard to not call it one, you have robust character leveling with perks, dialogue choices which influnce the game state later. Its more rpg than half of the games called rpg nowadays.
JA3 isn't an RPG
It is an RPG
The joke is that JA3 isn't a RPG: it's a TBT game with next to no roleplaying. Which means that Tranny's Gape 3 losing to JA3 makes it less of a RPG than an XCOM clone KEEEEEEEEEEEEK
I thought the Courage the Cowardly Dog easter egg in JA3 was cute.
wtf is the point of this post, it's basically an upvote
Yeah like I said it's a strategy/tactical game with rpg elements
Anyone tried JA3 mods? Any recommendations?
I played vanilla. Might get some of the bimbo mods for a second playtrough.
JA2 wasnt rpg
Why?
I haven't played it since the bloat got out of control
X-Com wasn't an RPG but XCOM is.
Was that a completionist run? I don't necessarily mean one aimed for collecting all achievements and whatnot, more like doing every content the game has to offer. If so I guess I can expect similar numbers as I'm playing pretty slowly too.
Laptop guy has no stats
...unless you create your character via IMP. JA2 is absolutely an rpg
Guess you don't consider JRPGs or soulsslops RPGs either then?
Sex with Fox.
Give Everyone Guns.
Unfotunately there isn't really a must have for JA3 mods. You have your pick of "custom merc with awful AI portrait", a couple of QoL stuff mainly giving you slightly more description for hit rates(but not fully accurate, which honestly works really well as a sweet spot between vague and straight up percentage), a few "we've retooled how damage works in the game" ones that I never really meshed with and all sorts of "make IMP good again" which boil down to giving them 100s in every stat and the pick of like 8 perks at level 1, including each merc's unique perk.
I wish we had fully animated dialogue with facial animations so i can see Fox's face while she talks. The things she says in this game are glorious.
JA2 doesn't end in a defeat when the IMP character dies. Your character is literally shown in the intro opening the laptop in front of which he's sitting all the time from that point onwards. You even get an animation when you (your character really) zoom into a sector to micro-manage the mercs.
So unless you want to claim that every tactics and strategy game is you role-playing as a commander behind a screen, you can stop this pathetic attempt.
JA2 doesn't end in a defeat when the IMP character dies.
Neither does Wizardry.
Or M&M.
Gasp.
And neither of them are your characters. It's a copy of a copy of a copy of a concept that started off as a crudely imitation of tabletop but couldn't quite part with the idea of having a party. Le gasp.
Sameface party games actually are much more similar to tactics than to RPGs. Choices determining which further choices and consequences you get is part of what defines whether a game is an RPG, not numbers going up on a spreadsheet.
And neither of them are your characters.
And yet they're all rpgs.
And yet JA2 isn't. Last (you), modfag.
And yet it is. Just like Wiz, M&M, ToEE and more.
You're now going to force anon into arguing that Wizardry, Might & Magic and The Temple of Elemental Evil are not RPGs. Nice.
