They have confirmed several games that they worked on for a while and then canceled far into development. They have cancelled L4D3 twice. They have cancelled various Half-Life projects before Alyx. Every enemy is a bullet sponge, you move like a geriatric woman, there's almost no weapon variety, and you have to constantly scrounge for ammo which is cool the first time but it kills replayability.
Boneworks with Alyx's presentation would have been the perfect game. Valve played it too safe, they wanted to make it accessible to casuals but that was stupid because they were trying to sell a $1000 headset which is obviously something only enthusiasts would buy.

It's good as a spinoff and by VR game standards, though it leans a lot more on puzzle solving and exploration than combat and I hope they don't try to adopt the same formula for Half-Life to replace the traditional gameplay format. I would much prefer HL3 be designed specifically to be played in 2D with an optional VR mode like the VR mods for Half-Life 2 (which play exceptionally well and I highly recommend them).

HL3 is DESTINED to kill pc gaming, theres a reason why valve stopped making games.

Probably the only real VR game, it's disappointing it's not a normal title but it shows loud and clear that Valve still has that spark to make something that goes beyond great.

It's the best VR game so far but I'm sure it will be BTFO'd by future VR games. I like it and bought an Index back in 2020 for it but my go to VR game has been H3VR for years. (with mods, naturally)
