why is there so much femboy cuck porn with cloud? is it because final fantasy fans are the biggest cuck faggots on the earth?
E33's OST blows FF7's OST, both original and Remake, out of the water.
it tries too hard to be quirky with the 90s throwbacks like gus' theme and other poppy shit

Lie yourself. FF7 rebirth got best music awards. It have piano mini games for players who love it's ost. I bet your ubisoft garbage don't even have mini games for love of music like that.
Why do FF fans get so mad when other games stand in the spotlight? So bizarre

Don't really get the praise for the OST. There's like a dozen or two dozen good tracks and the rest is just basic piano filler with some other sounds mixed in that has no identity and isn't memorable.
One track I'll always remember though is I SEEEE YOUUUU, I FEEEL YOUUU
Maelle and her mom are literally gonna die inside of the canvas. Verso himself, the most important person in this situation, wants to die and is forced to live by Maelle and keep painting even though he never wanted to be a painter. Maelle is forcing a man to help her live out her fantasy that is literally gonna kill her.
youtube.com
Implying this isn't peak.
Here, I'll spoonfeed you
youtube.com
Why the fuck are you spoilering everything. This is obnoxious to read
she's forcing noone as they aren't real lol.
anyway, story shat the bed towards the end of act two.
Why is the life of painted verso more valuable than that of the other expeditioners? They're equally as real. The real Verso doesn,t mind painting, he literally says it.
the other ending implies Maelle commits suicide afterwards since she basically has nothing to live for. In her ending she lives out a full life and is happy. Literally the entire point of the game is that it ISN'T just a fantasy. It's just as real as the reality outside the painting. There is no bad ending, both are equally valid if you actually pay attention.
which part of two dozen good tracks did you not understand. that said, this area went on for a bit too long so I started getting tired of it.
which onii-chan does Maelle prefer, Verso or Gustave?
2/10 bait or a retard who played the game muted.
real verso > gustave > painted verso
I have no idea how people play the full game and still end up coming to the conclusion that "well they aren't real anyway bro". Like how do you even do that?
GET OUTTA MY WAY
How the fuck does it imply that at all? She is smiling, even if it is bittersweet, at her family that is actually together for the first time since Verso's death.
The real Verso wants to stop painting too. Not only was the real Verso a musician at heart but the boy in the canvas willingly stops. You're also forgetting the greater plot here of the Painters vs Writers. We don't have the full story but we know both seem to have world ending powers and the Painters can't do anything when most of their family are killing themselves inside of a Canvas.
always gotta be at least one contrarian nigga
old lumiere for example is boring as shit, both harmonically and texturally
Which part of my post said that? Please quote it. I never said I didn't feel bad for everyone else, but the ending choice is between Maelle forcing Verso to live/keep painting even though he wants to stop while simultaneously killing herself (slowly over time), or Verso causing the death of everyone. Both endings are bitter, but one is clearly correct. Verso created the painting. He wants to stop.
If anything Verso's ending feels more like the bad ending
Should I even bother with this if I have a 8gb 3070?
Fuck man this graphics card should not feel this old so soon.
Why should I care about these retards? Play God and reap the consequences I guess.
One of them is a happy delusion, the other is a sad reality. It is intentionally left up for debate. That is why it is a good ending to me.
the sequel will be two years later, about 18 yo Maelle who is now trapped inside of a book
Yeah just use DLSS. For some reason the game started out on DLAA for me and I was getting like 60 FPS. I put it on DLSS qualtiy and it shot up to 100. You could lower settings, use DLSS and easily get 60 or more.
The delusion has potential for hopeful solutions though. They could find a way to keep the canvas alive without Verso's soul for instance. Lumière is full of extremely smart scientists and engineers.
sad reality
they're literally finally facing their loss head on
I hope that they do another game and it is about the Writers and being trapped in a book. However, I don't want the Painters to show up, only be mentioned. Then you make a 3rd game and wrap up the Painters vs Writers plot, somehow having both parties of characters mixed together having to find a way to stop shit.
I meant literally a sad reality. Like they are sad. They can't fake being happy by looking at a copy of Verso and pretending he is the real thing. They are clearly starting to move on in the credit scene where they are outside Verso's grave, but Alicia is having trouble letting go still.
The writers (as in the writers of the game, not The Writers) can come up with anything, but based on the actual game as it currently is I do not think the painting can survive without Verso's soul, and even if it could the entire point was the piece of his soul that they couldn't bear to lose. Lumiere was collateral damage in the decision of what to do with their son.
Why.....Why are you doing this?....
For those who come after....Right?
Cox deserves more work. Far and away the best actor of the main cast even if there are some iffy lines here and there. I don't think the director did his job too well honestly. Serkis is the only one that's consistently high quality throughout.
give it a try
delusion
It's not though. Also focusing on the killing her part is retarded since she can easily live a full lifespan in the painting. It would be cut short for the people outside it but for Maelle herself her life and just as long as a normal person, same with Verso who would simply live out the rest of his life and die in peace in the painting. The Maelle ending is unquestionably the better ending if you actually believe what the game is telling you about the people in the painting being real, which you seem to not.
I do like Verso but Cox as Gustave just felt so much more natural in his performance than Starr did.
I mean the voice directors were the game director and the writer, they were not actual voice acting pros. They did alright considering.
They had been in the painting for, what, 70 years? And it was a relatively short period of time in the real world. She is basically living a live inside of a dream, and one she now knows is a dream. It is not about if the people are real or not, it is that Maelle is not the one who gets to make the choice. Verso is. His painting. His soul. His soul wants to stop, the Verso sending makes that explicitly clear. He has spent the entire game wanting to die and being forced to live by his mother who cannot let him go. Maelle is also perpetrating the cycle of grief by dying in a short period of time in the real life and forcing her father and sister to watch her die, and possibly her mom though her mom is likely to just keep following her into the canvas and also die
The soundtrack is total shit though. You shills are fucking mentally retarded drones.
level 25 at the beginning of act 2
I’m I too high?
considering the sidequest with the nevron who wants to kill himself on his own terms that you fail if you disagree with, I think the interpretation is clear.
nigga i was that level half way through one and already doing 9999 damage with malle solo
me playing this game
Esquie is based and one of my favorite characters.
Maelle lived 16 years in and out of the painting, for her they're equally as real and she just chooses which of the two she prefers. She picks the one where her friends live. Literally nothing wrong with that.
That makes sense then. Thankfully they do get better as the game goes on but I was wholly convinced at the start that English was intended to be the dub. The off lip syncing and complete butchering of french words didn't help either.
subtle
Except picking the one with her friends is at the cost of the soul of her brother being forced to exist for eternity as a painter when he wants to stop and pass on. You have to remember, if the canvas is not destroyed Verso's soul will be trapped there forever, for all eternity. Long after Lune and Maelle are dead he will be alone in the canvas painting even though he wants to stop.
Of course I love Lune and Sciel and Monoco and Esquie and everyone else but not at the cost of forcing Verso to paint against his will for an eternity.
If this game was made 20 years ago you'd be able to romance Maelle even as her brother.
I fundamentally don't agree with you that Verso somehow takes precedence over everyone else. Just as Verso can have his choice Maelle has hers. This choice puts them at odds with each other but they're both fundamentally valid choices since both parties have their own agency even if their own choices bring the other to ruin. They're both inherently selfish choices that don't consider the needs of the other party involved. I say Maelle's ending is better since Maelle's ending leads to a happy ending for herself and the entire population of painted Lumiere but is bad for her real family and for Verso. In Verso's ending everyone in the painting is murdered against their will and Maelle is forced to live in misery in a life she didn't want or ask for. I think the distinction between whether you consider the residents of Lumiere as real is pretty fucking important in this context. Also even Verso himself could lead a long and happy life in Maelle's ending as a normal person and would still die in a normal lifespan all the same so even for him Maelle's ending may be the better outcome despite not actually being what he wanted. The only people who really lose out unquestionably are Alicia's real world family but even in Verso's ending there's no guarantee they ever actually get over Verso's death especially with Maelle being unhappy.
what a shit story
The song and scene during Alicia's rebirth
Good fucking god that hurt
forced to exist for eternity
It's not eternity. Verso would also die eventually in a similar timeframe as Maelle
yes
The story of this game is really good but in the end it's just Umineko for people who don't want to read a VN
Alicia 100% kills herself in Verso's ending and then it's back to Square one for the family. Only Clea would probably be okay.
Who dies to Verso's hands in Maelle's Nightmare? Julie?
33
Freemason scum.
You know what's fucked? End spoilers but in the context of the story dogs act weird around feet so it makes sense for Monaco to do the same
Maelle looks like she is actually beginning to grieve and move on though. The final shot is seeing her friends, including Gustav and Verso, gommage. I interpreted that as her finally beginning to forgive herself and move on from the death of her brother. Also you see Renior and the mother actually embracing and coming together while Maelle smiles at them, even if it is a wry and bittersweet smile. Sure I think it is left up to interpretation, but that is what I got out of it.
I do think Verso, as the creator of the painting and pretty much the God of it, should have a say when he wants to stop.
The real Verso's soul still exists though. It is the boy in the Canvas. You come across his ghost constantly and at the very ending too. He wants to stop. He is suffering. Do the lives of the people in Lumiere justify forcing their creator to suffer for eternity? It is up for debate, but I think that Vero should get to move on.
Anyone know when this plays? I’m almost done 100%’ing the game but I don’t remember hearing this at all youtu.be
sex
the scene where verso watches maelle bathe in a lake
I don't think either ending is good or bad. I think both are bad & good at the same time and the entire theme of the game supports both. One ending is about how our dreams, painting, and art are real and worth saving. The other is about how you need to be able to grieve and learn to let go. The game reinforces both themes intentionally.
The real question is which one will be canon. My feeling is the Verso one because I think they'd want a new setting for the game and you really don't have much of a plot in Lumiere left.
every E33 is literally the same. FOTM slop consoomers are all parroting bots
and yes you can't even type properly
back off to discord with you, tranny
That's the lot of being a god. You can't condone killing your "offsprings" because you wanna check out. Painters should know better than to paint Sapient beings.
What is the name of the song when you fight the lantern boss? That shit slaps harder than my father.
It's a part of his soul not his entire soul. Real Verso is 100% dead and gone. What you see in game is basically an echo of his soul.
how has nobody posted best theme for best boss yet?
It is an echo that still has enough sentience to suffer and to talk to you and respond to the fake Verso.
This entire argument falls apart when you consider Verso as an actual person and not just a puppet for Maelle to play with. It's his painting and he wants to die. Maelle is being selfish and should make her painting if she wants to larp.
It’s crazy to me people defend square enix, when they truly haven’t had a controversy game(or just done retarded shit)since arguably FFX. 12 was their 1st development hell disaster. 13 was their most controversial game. Then we know what happened to 14(and it’s happening again LOL). Then they did the shit with TWO sequels to 13,and canned versus 13 and made it 15,which was a bigger disaster. Then 16. They said YEARS ago that a “7 remake would be breaking the glass in case of emergency”. They shifted that up too. How do fags defend them?
recruit a literally who music teacher from some obscure forum
he delivers a Keiichi Okabe-tier performance
What he fuck.
His skills are locked, he won't die
...
he'll be back, we didn't see him die
...
Maelle is a paintress that can bring people back now? surely gustave is getting ressurected?
Not really, what we see in game is basically the last vestiges of real Verso's desires which were for his family to get over his death, it continues expressing his desires but it's not really exactly sentient cause Verso's dead the soul is gone. Verso's ending is entirely about painted Verso and what he wants. The one trapped in Maelle's ending is also painted Verso. I think you're conflating the 2 as if they're one in the same somehow.
surely you noticed that verso's skills did mostly the same things as gustav and he inherited all of his weapons and lumina points?
my personal GOTY so far
says Death is an old friend who would welcome her
think she's just being silly
act 3 camp conversations
oh...
The game needed more bosses like Dualliste
You're retarded. Verso died IRL, he wasn't in the painting when he died. Paintings aren't phylacteries that keep painters alive like liches. The little boy is not Verso, it's just the embodiment of his chroma he used to make the painting. It doesn't have free will or sapience.
You're free to use the "they're not real bro" argument if you want but your argument falls apart when people don't agree with that part. The people of Lumiere have just as much right to continue living as Verso has to make decisions on his painting. Neither takes precedence over the other in the same way I can't just kill my own infant son just cause I feel like it.
Sciel becomes more likable as the game goes on because you start to understand why she is how she is.
Did someone say Dualliste?
youtube.com
It is definitely GOTY so far. I need more time to think on it, but it could easily be in my top 10-20 games of all time. But that is just recency bias. I need to see how I feel in a few months, if I keep thinking about it. That is how I knew Disco Elysium was one of my favorite games of all time, I just kept thinking about it long after I beat it.
When he goes full zanzibart forgive me mode
We needed more of that.
The game literally tells you multiple times a part of Verso's soul is still trapped there and it's enough to give the fake Verso sentience. Did you even play it?
This is what I don't get. There's two options. Either they're real and the needs of the many should outweigh the needs of the few or they're fake in which case who gives a fuck what the little boy thinks?
still trapped
It never says that and it also never says fake Verso is sentient.
That's literally an expression. When people say they poured their heart and soul into something it's not literal. It just means that this project is dear to them and reprents them. That's literally what they mean. Painted Verso has sentience like everybody else who's painted, you don't need a soul to have that.
why did they hire a tumblr artist for this. Just look at Lune’s face

I did, but expanding on gustave's overcharge mechanic is possible, and there are enough swords to go around
QRD? I strongly disliked her and ignored her camp interactions
Okay I am NTA but if you think that the game is not saying the last shred of his soul is in the painting you're actually just being weird and didn't pay any attention.
PART OF HIS SOUL IS LITERALLY STUCK IN THE PAINTING. IT IS THE LAST LITERAL PIECE OF VERSO. DESTROYING THE PAINTING MEANS HE IS COMPLETELY GONE FOREVER. That is the entire fucking reason they're obsessed with it. It is not his entire soul, mind you, but a piece of it he put into it when he made the painting.
it could easily be in my top 10-20 games of all time
Same here.
I need to see how I feel in a few months, if I keep thinking about it
I don't, whether it's vidya or books, I can easily tell whether it's top 10 material. The only exception I encountered so far was Goethe's Faust, which filtered me at first. Kept thinking about it for months.
Her husband died in an accident and she swam out into the sea attempting to kill herself not realizing she was pregnant and accidently killed her own unborn child. Esquie was the one who saved her too.
The tl;dr is that she is so fatalistic and cavalier about death but it is all a front. Her husband died in an accident when everyone is used to people passing in the gommage so she was not ready. She tried to kill herself, but was saved by Esquie (but does not remember that). Unfortunately she learned after she was pregnant and her near-drowning caused the death of the child which was the only remaining piece of her husband. She fully admits things like she'd sacrifice Verso or anyone else if it meant seeing her husband again, so she is actually sympathetic towards him instead of mad at him because she realizes she would do the same.
That is how I knew Disco Elysium was one of my favorite games of all time, I just kept thinking about it long after I beat it.
Based, same. Made me order Sea Power albums and everything, just to cope with having finished the game
I liked her from the beginning, so to me it was more like learning her other side that she hides, dark and personal if you will. But I agree, the way they unfold her backstory with many foreshadowings is good. I also like how her gameplay is reinforcing her character, dark and light combining in twilight and so on.
This post glows
damn
saxaphones need to come back
This game makes me wish france was real bros...
ngl, simon phase 2 music and painted renoir boss theme are godlike
This argument works just as well if you take the soul thing to be figurative and not literal. Also in the game Verso's shadow body thing is very clearly not actually sentient in how it acts.
is this the mona lisa of video games?
It responds to you when you talk to it even if it then trails off in despair.
Isn't the Mona Lisa eye-talian?
It's not GOTY, and this huge barrage of support for the "unexpected game that gets popular support" shit will get tired really soon.
You didn't play the game.
You're right anon, I only support major releases from major studios! Assassin's Creed Shadows is #Lit!
Dare I say it? I believe this has some SOUL that Final Fantasy used to have.
The reason I know the whole partial soul thing doesn't mean he's sentient is that neither Renoir or Alise ever actually try to be with the partial soul which they would obviously do if what they were after was actually contacting part of Verso's soul.
Nah, but you don't have to make it look unorganic, this shit is barely getting played, will be quickly forgotten, fast than Silent Hill 2 was
Why didn't Verso just save Gustave when it was revealed he could? He wouldn't even have to explain anything.
yeah man, i'm sure steamcharts represents the total number of players for this game when it costs 50 dollars on Steam and 5 dollars on gamepass. Retarded nigger
Facts:
Part of Verso's soul is LITERALLY stuck in the painting
The people of Lumiere are real
Maelle will die if she remains inside the painting
Maelle is crippled outside of the painting
Verso's soul does not want to paint anymore
The people of Lumiere will die if Verso stops
Neither ending is right. It is up to you to decide.
100k peak concurrent players today bros... the game is a flop...
bros... we... lost... it is... all... inorganic... synthetic... a painting...
It "responds" but it's very clearly not actually conscious of the questions and capable of processing them. It's clearly not fully aware of it's own situation. It's not sentient. It's more like a bot with conditioned responses acting out in ways Verso would have since it's basically an imprint of his soul.
Verso is the maker of the canvas, and he is dead already, let the motherfucker rest, keeping his remaining soul alive for the sake of others and his creations is cruel
It really is so funny to end act 2 like that and then have a bunch of act 3 be side content where you can get closer to your party. You know, the party that isn't going to exist at the end of the very next level.
I was going to argue with you but you're right. He says it's because he felt Maelle would be less inclined to help him defeat the Paintress if she knew it would kill everyone within but he doesn't reveal that to her anyway.
They can depending upon your decision. However, I do think it is strange that the relationship stuff really takes off in Act 3 and right after they all hate Verso for 5 minutes. Also Act 3 is weird because all of the Super Bosses have major cutscenes and lore associated with them that adds on to the story yet is all optional.
first post is barry cope
Dude has not fucking stopped for 8 days trying to shill his ff flopmake while Expedition 33 wins everything ff wish it could
I'd kill 100 Dessendre fucker to save one Lune.
I mean act 3 does start with Maelle's ending being the party goal. It's only Verso himself that wants his ending everyone else is on Maelle's side. Even Monoco is kind of on the fence.
Note that most of the major relationship side quests are done exclusively with Verso, a person who is also not going to exist. The Verso and Monoco quest is meaningless. All the NPCs associated with that quest will not exist and do not interact with Maelle at all.
Act 3 also completely changes how the game is played with the removal of the damage cap which opens up builds a lot more but also kind of pushes you towards Maelle cheese.
nuke france
where did this man come from
France
Verso's soul does not want to paint anymore
When is this ever stated? Also Verso's soul CAN'T paint, he's fucking dead.
I think the structure of act 3 was a last minute thing to just push the game out. I think the pacing of the game is all over the place and if they made you actually do more combat in act 3, the game could end up being a slog. Though you're right, leaving stuff like the third Axon as side content is very weird.
You do this entire thing with gommaging Alicia, getting into a bit of a fight with Verso over it, and then in the very next mission you can... delete everyone in the canvas anyway? What was the point of PERSONALLY deleting Alicia?
It doesn't. The very VERY last spirit npc you can talk to literally says "I could continue.."
Why dont you try to beat the game before trying to talk about the ending you retard
French music historically hasn't been all that good. Germans+Italians+Russians+Polacks mog.
verso literally asks
You want to stop right?
And the boy nods
Are you fucks illiterate or blind?
Verso's soul is the little boy you keep talking to including the one in the final scene of the game. Verso asks if he wants to stop, he says yes, and then stops and they both gommage.
I wish I didn't have a life. I'm still in act 2 but the only place I can discuss games is here where everybody finishes it day 1.
Clea best girl. She did nothing wrong, ever. Fuck the Writers
Verso's partial soul does not have the capability to paint anything. He has no power as he isn't actual a person. He also never mentions painting even once. He wants his parents to stop grieving over his death, he talks about that every time you see him.
the vg thread still mostly uses spoilers
I stayed off of Anon Babble until I beat it, it took me like a week.
thread full of spoilers
well fuck you niggers see you next month after I finish the game
music is good btw
He is literally fucking kneeling and painting over a canvas that represents the entire fucking world dude.
I just make posts and ignore any post that isn't a direct reply to me.
I take every bit of information revealed in the last minute of the final fight to just be retcon/plot convenience bullshit. It's an insane 180 from every piece of side content you do in act 3.
I was using spoiler tags but no one else was so I gave up.
Sophie dies btw
Maelle literally gives Painted Verso that too lol, a new life, but mortal. Nigger is mad for no reason. Selfish cunt.
Verso's ending has nothing to do with real Verso. Painted Verso is the only decision maker there.
Selfish because he knows his sister and mother will die because they can't get over grieving him
They're going to die anyway bro. That's how time works
youtu.be
One of the best moments in games in a long time
Yeah but now their deaths are his fault. He literally sacrificed himself to save Alicia and now she is just using that to reduce their family even more. It is just gonna be Renoir and the sister left.
Ultimately you can't make decisions for other people even if those decisions are harmful. Maelle wants to live in the painting and Aline is too far gone either way. She's not gonna recover.
Our modern societies are build on the importance of consent and Verso's ending is all about ignoring consent.
I don't care what anyone in this thread says I like Maelle's ending better cause my boy Gustave gets his happy ending
The problem with the act 2/3 plot points is that it invents an entirely new conflict, the existential problem of the canvas world. As far as we know and have experienced, these are all sentient beings with real feelings and memories. It is functionally a mass genocide, the painters being higher beings doesn't discredit their lives.
Aline literally embraces Renoir and holds his hand in Maelle's ending. She is grieving but getting over it.
Also we really do not know about the life span of Painters. We've seen one die and it was from outside forces. Sure, I won't assume they live forever, but I also am not gonna assume they die at 60 years old or some shit. They seem to be like Gods.
Forces verso to keep living and verso's soul sliver to keep going because she cant let go and face reality
lmao this is consent
sure
When Maelle enters the painting her mother had already been in there for like 50+ years so clearly time flows differently in the painting compared to in their world so I assume painter lifespans are normal but in the painting their time is extended.
That's one person vs many so it's still the better choice. And the painted world is reality as much as anything else.
All the characters in the painting are sentient. That fragment of Verso's soul is what's keeping the world alive, but the painted Verso is a separate entity that Aline created
Is it not weird to anyone else that you have this party of 5 for a majority of the game and then in the final conflict, only TWO (2) of them talk??? And you don't even acknowledge the others when making the most important choice of the game??
For me, it's how he's present for the Dualliste boss fight in the reveal trailer. Fucking devs.
say what you will about the game
i already do that i dont need your permission
Renoir had been in there for 67 years, but yeah it had not been that long in the real world. However it was clearly killing her. Renoir doesn't want to spend his life in a painting and literally talks about how Aline taught him to not do that, and is now doing it herself because of her grief.
All of that falls apart when maelle justification for keeping the lights on is because she dont want to be a burn victim mutie and she wants to keep seeing verso like her mother
Also, its heavily implied in maelle's ending that she is fucking with verso's head so he keeps going
Its good but to say its better than rebirth is fucking retarded. E33 doesnt have one memorable soundtrack
They're very much normal humans outside of their canvas, they age and fall ill and can't fix a fucked up throat and face
Even Gustave could not answer if one life means more than many. He would have sided with Verso
No Maelle's primary motivation for her ending is bringing back Gustave. Not seeing Verso.
Yes, in Maelle's ending it is implied that she is basically gonna act like God and just change people if she wants and revive whomever she wants whenever she wants, etc. Kind of acting like the Paintress, which the game even lets you say to her earlier. However, I don't want this to sound like I am saying she is gonna go crazy with power and become Queen Bitch, but it is very possible that she could get more fucked up over time. She clearly has mental health issues, but that'll happen when you get tricked by other people and then your brother sacrifices himself to save you and then your mother is slowly committing suicide inside of a painting. That fucks with your head so I don't blame her.
It doesn't help that they make her do this wide eyed thing whenever she is upset that looks like she has PTSD.
...
That is not implied anywhere, yeah she wants to bring gustave back, but she states that like 3 times in act 3
I personally went with Maelle's ending because it's the only ending where the two truly innocent people of the story (Sciel and Lune) get to live. I don't give a shit about anything else.
The real kino bossfight...
hire random music teacher to do your OST after hearing some of his music was bretty gud
he then goes into fucking overdrive and performs his magnum opus making your soundtrack revered to the point where people will be praising it for decades
these devs did alright
Gustave is literally the entire reason she wants to stay in the paining in the first place, the fuck are you talking about?
Everyone in this thread is taking the endings as if everything in the game leads into those endings when they fucking don't lmao. What parts of Maelle's ending do you feel any part of the campaign supports? Any cutscenes, any pieces of dialogue that would suggest that Maelle would be a controlling maniac lost in delusion? That's only the case because some out of nowhere ending made it so.
my crippled wife
She doesn't even mention him in the final scenes. All she cares about is not living as a cripple
You know how the Statue of Liberty is French but associated with Americans? The Mona Lisa is Italian but has been in the Louvre for 228 years so uh... fuck 'em.
You know, the party that isn't going to exist at the end of the very next level.
You don't know that when you start Act 3. You don't know there's gonna be a choice, at that point the objective seems to defeat Renoir as the final boss to not allow him to erase the Canvas and delete everyone.
You are just making this up now
December 33
I disagree, the reality Alicia lives in is horrible even if don't count the fact she's a cripple. Even if you chose Verso ending.
mother blamed her for the death of her brother and even wished she died
father is a control freak, wants her to reach the same highs he, his wife and Clea reached. Doesn't care what Alicia wants. Thinks of her as a shut-in wasting her talents, as illustrated by her Axon he painted.
Sister is very dismissive of her. Probably the result of being raised by Renoir and Aline. Is obsessed with revenge on the Writers and doesn't notice her family is hurting and needs her with them.
the whole Painters vs Writers thing leading to Alicia being manipulated by the latter and to the death of little Verso and Alicia being crippled. Clearly anything goes in this conflict
The reality is very fucked up. I can't blame aline, Alicia and Renoir (at one point) wanting to escape it in the painted world.
Doing Act 3 bosses in Act 2 leads to awesome fights that actually require you to learn them and their timings
But you hit damage cap so easily that the entire game is just doing multi-hit moves because number of hits > anything else rending most moves useless
Doing Act 3 bosses without the damage cap just leads you do doing as big a single hit as possible and killing most of them in like 2 turns without needing to learn their fights
I feel like the Painted Power should have upped the damage cap to 99,999 or something and then lowered some of the bosses HP to match. I dunno, doing anything but just hitting for 40-50M with Maelle and one shotting feels dumb.
You've been asleep at the wheel then. They have the best electronic composers in the world.
While it is true are you Indian?
Gustave
Dualliste fight
Heh...
ost is a Nier Rip Off
retard
NTA but yeah Daft Punk are French
The sister still says she loves Alicia and says that Verso sacrificing himself to save her is the best and worst thing he ever did. Renoir loves her and the rest of the family and is legitimately trying to save her, not just recruiting another person for the war against the writers. He even knows she is lying about leaving the painting but doesn't force her to leave. The mother, at least to me, seemed to look at her and actually not have contempt or anything in the Verso ending implying she was forgiving her.
She is still a mute cripple with one eye though. That fucking sucks.
Wait so in Maelle's ending, she just stays in forever and... her family doesn't do jack shit to get her out? Lmao wtf
Anons I need to have a lynch'd talk with you. What does this hole remind you of?
Trying to get her (and the mother) out caused the entire fucking events of the game
16 year old hairy french pussy
I mean a hole, it is just a hole.
What are they gonna do? She can just send them back with a 1 billion dmg Stendahl nuke
Yeah its fucked up, but supporting Maelle's ending is supporting escapism and the enslavement of a dead man's soul that shows clear signs of fatigue, its fucked up.
Sure versos ending means deleting the entire world but the epilogue clearly shows the family moving on, and maelle smiling, a show of acceptance and growth, meanwhile maelle ending is tense and somber, despite everyone living
getting an achievement for reaching level 33
kek kino
Escapism is only bad when you don't have the god like powers to will your escapism into existence and the people in your escapism aren't sentient beings with their own free will.
I'd accept anti-Maelle ending anywhere but not on 4chin. Versofars are a bunch of hypocrites.
Youtube commenters are also Versofags which is all you need to know really.
guys what time is it?
what makes you think that?
kinda seems like her father just doesn't care about her then
Escapism is bad anywhere when it literally means the total denial of reality
Also
free will
Debatable, versos seems to be controlled by maelle to some extent
They had a talk after the final boss battle and Renoir trusted her to leave on her own (she won't)
TIME FOR A SWIM-SWIM :DDD
Not unless they do prequels
Honestly I think people being able to take such different things from the endings to the point where we have people calling one ending the evil ending and other people calling that same ending the good ending to be a testament to how interesting the quandary the endings explore is.
where did this man come from
Soundcloud and an internet forum apparently. Really puts into perspective just how low effort the entire AAA space is, doesn't it?
we're talking about both endings like they are fully conclusive, otherwise I could say Verso's ending is just as shit because while the family is temporarily together, these has been no substantial development in addressing Aline's grief other than destroying her one avenue of relief
Did you beat the game? She defeated him and then they talk and he knows she is lying about leaving the painting but decides to just let it go because he just wants her to be happy. The Axiom he made for her is clearly not how he feels now, especially after speaking with her. He wanted her to live with him in the real world but is willing to let her die in the painting if that means making her happy. He is a legitimately good father.
Yes, I think the ending is very good because this thread has been generally healthy debate with good points on both sides.
That's implying the painting world is not reality. If it was all in her head it could be argued it's not. But the painting world is a tangible place. It is real.
You don't know physics enough if you think that "reality" is only what you can sense.
People take such wildly different stances on the ending because literally nothing in the game supports how the game ended. That's why people are just blindly shooting their theory on why X is good or Y is bad.
Escapism is bad anywhere when it literally means the total denial of reality
The painting is equally reality so there's no denial of anything.
Debatable, versos seems to be controlled by maelle to some extent
This is literal headcanon. I would reach to even call it fanfiction.
Its because there is no win-win ending
Maelle
She denies reality and lives in a fabricated world, her family likely implodes and verso is a broken slave
Verso
Her family and painted verso move on, verso's soul rests, but the entire world within the canvas ceases to exist
Its about what you consider right
Expedition 60 made it to the monolith, figured out the truth that the real target was the person beneath it and not the paintress, and almost made it back to Lumiere to tell everyone
With the power of muscles
Absolute GIGA CHADS
Literally the entire game perfectly leads to the thematic conclusion of the endings.
The Axiom he made for her is clearly not how he feels now, especially after speaking with her.
is clearly not how he feels now
do you realize how insane this sounds? To establish some narrative point in side content and then to blatantly disregard it immediately after?
What did it mean for the real Verso to paint?
versos seems to be controlled by maelle
He's clearly seething but what tells you he's 'controlled' by her? It's just... what else can he do, really?
Maelle's ending is black and white horror style while Verso's ending has Maelle smiling and her parents embracing. It's not subtle what the devs want you to think
How is it insane for him to change his perspective after TALKING to her? What?
Are you retarded? Do you not know what context is?
he cute
again, interesting how no one in this thread is talking about Aline
why is this faggot trying to pin rebirth against everything?
Verso did not want to be a painter. He wanted to be a musician but his parents (especially the mother, it seems) forced him to paint. Lumiere, I believe, is his first real painting and the one that contains a piece of his soul. I do not know if he painted anything else, or if he did if they were the magical canvas worlds they make.
The next Clair Obscur could be set in the real world and deal with the Writers, without a need to canonize Lumière's fate as long as they established there's other Painter families and not just the Dessendres
This
hey guys this ending with the horror jump scare and verso clearly suffering within is the GOOD ending
Just because the other ending have lune seething hard
So what was Gustave ?
because literally nothing in the game supports how the game ended
Are you an idiot? One of the first nevrons you meet makes you face a choice if you want to kill him or let him live. And that goes on in almost every location within the game, every dialogue. You even get 100 shards for killing them OR for saving them. There's no clear answer. Fucking buffon.
Ironically given she's technically the main antagonist for 80% of the game she isn't actually that relevant in the grand scheme of things.
Stop coping as you've been doing all thread long
Just a Lumiere citizen, he wasn't created by anyone especially. He was important to Maelle because he adopted her when she was a trouble child that bounced around homes but he and Sophia loved her.
This, just make it about another painter unrelated to the dessendres directly
Every Square game that isn't FF15 mindbreaks him
That dichotomy only works if you only look at the outcome for the family though. If you look at the broader implications then the Maelle ending is a lot nicer. I don't give a fuck if the painters suffer, I want the whole universe of innocent sapient beings to have a shot at existence.
...you do know 67 years go by between then and now, right? Just like the Verso that talks about Julie and the Verso that wants the Canvas to end are obviously in two completely different headspaces
Wouldn't they all die anyway when Verso dies?
He's literally me
A shot at existence
The moment maelle dies within the canvas, renoir will likely burn it to ashes
It's almost like the story of the game was sloppily written
A victim of indifferent gods
Gustave raised her with his sister Emma, not with Sophie.
That doesn't matter though does it? Our Universe will end at some point. It's very likely there will be being alive on Earth when the Sun starts expending and those lives will be snuffed out, inevitably. But it doesn't mean we should just nuke the Earth out now because it's bound to end anyway.
Lune, Sciel, and Monoco, what was the point of their characters? They make up the majority of the party.
No. There are two Versos.
The one in your party is created by Aline (the paintress). She is a copy of him and has his memories but is not literally him. He could die and nothing will happen. However, the little boy you see at the end (and all the ghosts) is the fragment of Verso's soul when he painted it (that is why it is a boy and not an adult, because he painted it as a kid), however it was still connected to Verso because he knows what happened to him. As long as he is alive, the painting stays alive.
However, he does not want to paint anymore and wants his sister and mother to move on. Problem is that him not painting = everyone dying. It is a lose-lose situation.
In theory but there's something funky going on because Sophie has Clea's face and Simon, painted!Clea's bf, is missing his left arm just like Gustave. Seems too weird to be just a coincidence.
No, that is painted verso that became mortal (assumed) he can die and nothing happens
The fragment of real verso is the battery
Nier but with humans instead of androids
Yeah, sorry, I meant Emma.
No
nobody has posted that crazy accordion track
plebs
It's almost like the narrative twists were well executed
oh its XV-kun?
should've known...
Not all FF fans. XVIChads are happy Ben "the GOAT" Starr is in another banger. Dude has the best agent in gaming.
believe me, i wish this was as good as nier.
According to people in this thread, nothing. They were a waste of time and you shouldn't have interreacted with them at all. They were just tools to get Aline out of the painting. They shouldn't even have voice lines.
Thats not a good comparison, it would be more proper to suppose a scenario where our entire universe only exists fueled by the fragment of a dead god and we have about 100 years to live
Destroy the world and the thousands of people left in it (the population of Lumiere is really small at this point) OR force the soul of a dead man to continue to paint against his will for all eternity while his sister and mother kill themselves and leave his father and other sister alone.
It is a hard fucking choice and that is not a joke. I don't want to kill Lune and Monoco and Esquie and Sciel but I also don't want Verso's miserable soul to be imprisoned for eternity but I also don't want Maelle to be forced to go back to being a burn victim but I also don't want her to be living a delusion and actually accept her brother's death. Fucking French people where is my Hollywood ending?
Being a random guitar teacher the director picked up from a random internet forum is one thing, but how the fuck did he convince the director to make an 8 hour soundtrack with God knows how many tracks that are used maybe once or twice at best?
Gee I wonder
Is there any narrative purpose to finishing Sciel, Lune, Monoco, and Esquie relationship quests?
Anti-verso fags cant see the irony of them not being able to let go of the painted world
The point of them was to form the bonds to reinforce Maelle's ending while Verso being the MC (he gets the relationship shit) was to reinforce his ending. You're supposed to like everyone. You're supposed to feel awful for both Maelle and Verso. This post summarizes it perfectly:
I will start paying $80 for vidya the second a AAA publisher manages to make a game 179% as good as Clair Obscur is. Something tells me I might be waiting awhile.
Versofags can't see the irony of them not being able to let go of Anon Babble posting
Luna is the director self-insert, so there is that.
Someone pointed out that Gustave's love interest in the prologue was a dead ringer for Clea and supposedly the painted version of Clea had a relationship with Simon, the strongest post-game boss who is also missing his left arm and wields the same weapon type as Gustave and Verso so who knows.
don't put links in spoilers you retarded fag
Not all of us use Anon Babble as escapism anon, but you can keep projecting
Yes, see: Making you care about everyone makes the endings harder. You either feel terrible as you see them gommage, or you feel terrible as you know Verso's poor soul is being forced to stick around against his will.
The writer, not the director. And if she is anything like Lune then I'm in love with her and her feet.
so arguably it would be better to not interact with them at all
Isn't that the opposite of irony?
I just want to say I fully accept this theory
I wonder if Sophie having the same face as Gustave's sister might be a reference to the odd relationship between Clea and Verso
Rumours say she did a full 3d scan of her body for lune
Dualliste is a tribute to Pontiff Sulyvahn.
Gotta say I was expecting the usual "third option that fixes everything"
Glad they avoided it. Most games settle for uncomplicated choices or easy outs. Even if 33 has a "correct" option it's still far from a happy ending.
But it could literally be the case. The amount of time doesn't matter. All life on Earth could end in 10 years due to a freak Asteroid impact. But we don't know if it'll happen and we live assuming it won't. And as far as we as individuals are concerned life is also extremely short, doesn't mean we should suicide because the end is inevitable.
No? How is making the ending worse by making the choice easier because you're ignorant "better"?
brb, going to DM her a pic of my penis.
why does it make the ending worse?
gestral beach
lol I can’t count
Because if you have no connection to any characters then why do you even care about it?
I picked the correct option but I wonder if he would have said the same shit no matter what you pick.
There is no good ending for the citizens of Lumiere.
They either live in a world Alicia faking for them, manipulating them, while she herself is pulled into canvas more and more like her mother, potentially leading to another tragedy
Or
they just die with the entire universe that is their canvas. And you gotta remember they are not some dolls. Yes, Aline created them as a background for her fake canvas family, but then they took the lives of their own. They have souls and have their agencies, they love, they grief, they have their human spirit, the defiance, the will to fight against impossible odds. They are just as much of humans as the humans beyond the canvas. You can't just dismiss that. Verso's trapped soul supports the lives of many people and stopping them from painting means killing them all.
There is no win for the citizens of Lumiere.
are gustave and maelle basically joel and ellie?
It is different because their world was created by verso and not a natural phenomena like ours, if verso's soul wants out, he has the right to plug it out, he already gave them existence and owes them nothing
Wheres the Maelle mods?
Yeah, except Maelle isn't a lesbian yet
We literally have no proof our world is a natural phenomenon. Everything is theories that are quite literally impossible to prove. It could be a simulation, it could be a God, we could LITERALLY be in a magic painting right now.
I was honestly expecting sexual tension between Maelle and Gustave. They are French, after all.
Maelle equally owes Verso's partial soul nothing
Okay, so if god wants out, I wouldnt seethe at him
The only reason she is alive is cause of Verso...
She only loves her papa, her onii-chan and esquie
And? If I saved your life would that make you my slave for life?
Well, I would.
Its her brother, you would think she would not be so terrified of facing reality to ignore his wish, but here we are
I truly believe this must the epitome of woman's seething. And not in a "fuck that guy! he forgot my birthday! how dare he!" way, but in the "I wish I would have killed him in his sleep" way.
I have never seen that kind of seething in a vidya female character before.
No but in this instance I saved your life then you also make me your slave for life. I don't think either ending is wrong, just saying that he DID sacrifice himself to save her.
reminds me of crab champions
You mean like he is doing to her? How are you even making such a hypocritical argument here?
Why this look makes my pp stiff guys?
I mean Lune fucking hated Verso after the paintress shit, but then she fucks him like 10 minutes later, and then has a fucking legendary seethe at his ending.
I don't know how people can equalize the two choices of kill countless sentient beings to save one family's mental health
Its verso's canvas, not alicia's
And its maintained by his soul, not hers, in her ending she merely inhabits it
me your slave for life
You niggers keep acting like Verso is still alive. HE'S FUCKING DEAD. THE SHADOW IN THE PAINTING IS NOT VERSO
I'd be mad if someone fucked up my world, too. Let alone the one native to it.
You retarded nigger we are talking about the soul , never post here again
feel completely betrayed by Verso
he works to regain her trust
they work their asses off to save the world (she'll get her parents back as a bonus)
the second they win, Verso turns around and betrays her AGAIN and ends the world
Lune can only sit down and stare as she dies
I'm glad I fucked up and couldn't romance Lune. It would've made this even worse.
It's not his soul so you're equally wrong.
Should've chosen Sciel
Verso is such a bitch
Amen
what is wrong with americans?
I missed this dungeon. Anyone know where to get the rock that lets Esquie fly into low orbit?
First of all, most of those people were already dead
Second, they had their shot
Third, the one who sustains their existence shouldnt be enslaved to keep it going
Countless
If you're talking humans there are not that many left, bro. Other than that it is Gestrals and then whatever is left of the ice troll guys.
What? Yes it fucking is. It is absolutely a part of his soul. They literally say it multiple times. That is the entire point of it. The guy is dead but a piece of his soul, the last thing connecting him to them is in the painting. Destroying it means getting rid of him. However, there is still SOME sentience and understanding in the soul as he knows he is dead, his mother is grieving and killing herself, and he wants his family to move on and he wants to stop painting.
romance Lune
pick Maelle(the objectively correct ending) ending
Verso lives happily with Lune
Fail to see the issue.
he's isn't half the man gustave was
What is NOT wrong with americans. They physically and mentally cannot comprehend beauty
Only insofar as it's "easier" to cruise through life by never getting attached to people for fear of caring for them. Is it better than enjoying the moments you can have together, even if they must come to an end?
FFVIIR
Genuinely one of the worst soundtracks I've ever listened to, and I spent a weekend listening to all eight and a half hours of it. Can't imagine Rebirth's is any better. I bet it's filled with even more bloat and shitty remixes than its predecessor, just like the game.
this is the best hair for her
But it makes total sense that Verso should want everyone to die btw
This could’ve been ff16. Why is Squeenix so retarded?
Gustave literally tries to kill himself 5 minutes into the expedition.
I don't necessarily like spoken French but it does sound pretty good when singing.
If you're talking humans there are not that many left, bro. Other than that it is Gestrals and then whatever is left of the ice troll guys.
You do realize Maelle brings back EVERYONE ever gommaged right? As in since year one.
99/100 is also pretty retarded
Literally how the fuck are the devs going to one up this for their next game
Wrong. Alicia's is the patrician taste
Lune is a pump-and-dump bitch, so it's ok
so would you pussy
wrong
Maelle finds a super duper Painter power to bring people into reality
or
they manage to find a way to sustain the Canvas without Verso's soul fragment through the power of friendship and Maelle learns to come and go between both worlds
Would've been shit endings, both of 'em
Yeah she is already disrupting the natural order. Their entire society was built around the gommage. I am not saying it is wrong, but she is already playing God.
pffft that was just a persona reference
Different genre
Creator is a big action game fan so maybe a dmc style game
That's a journal from the expedition 0. It's been 70 years. People change
So you agree it's not his soul
Honestly? I don't think I'd have the balls to shoot myself. I probably would have died on the beach or not gone on the expedition at all.
Maelle = Pro-Life (wrong because the devs are French)
Verso = Pro-Choice (right because the devs are French)
i wanna suck on lune's asian asshole so bad..
Seriously, can't believe a piece of French media is missing incest.
manipulating them
So your argument that the last pat of his soul is not his entire soul so there for it is not his soul? Come on brother.
Same. I wish a girl would me a handjob with that kind of face.
lolno
Not enough shitskins and trannies for the leftoid faggots at pcgaymur.
That's right, play the piano for me, slave!
Dance for my amusement, monkey
No matter how much you beg for death
I can't even tell if you're being serious or just shitposting at this point your Maelle seethe is getting so retarded.
the voice acting and direction is so good in english what the fuck
i especially love gustave's actor and his facial expressions
too bad we're stuck with a complete downgrade for the rest of the game
Gustave is Maelle's onii-chan, Verso is Alicia's
The game multiple times states that the population of the painting are living being and Verso-the-shota loves them and doesn't want them to get destroyed.
I love Maelle, but I do think bringing back everyone who has ever gommaged kind of completely changes the entirety of their society and culture and would be quite the shock to the system.
how the fuck did he convince the director to make an 8 hour soundtrack
The director is a JRPG autist who grew up on old FFs (remember Dancing Mad?) and an actual gamer who uploaded DMC5 DMD vids instead of being an old guy in a suit. youtube.com
It's his passion project, of course he wants it to be as good as possible.
animu white hair
Gross
From her pov he's literally genociding her entire world and existence. Everything that came before, every single Expedition, every single sacrifice people like her or Gustave or her parents made was for naught and she's about to perish. Seethe uncontrollably is quite literally the only thing she can do.
Stop making me love Maelle even more.
Verso lives happily with Lune
Lune is Gustave's bitch
wat
If you love Maelle you wouldn't want her to live in a fantasy land.
he painted the whole fictional scenario in his head despite the fact that both Maelle and Verso cry in this scene, and that might as well be Maelle's funeral and it's the last time they see each other as she fades away
Why are Versofags so retarded. Writers, gotta be
You could technically fit the ending scenario (delete everyone you know in this game or make some random family happier) into any video game and make it fit
Gustave literally has a GF who gets brought back to life
I IDENTIFY AS A ROCK
Verso lives happily
...
Because I love Maelle I don't want her to consoom questionable meds for her entire life to ease the pain from ever-hurting scars and eventually face suicide.
As in since year one
Never stated
I think it is definitely true that Maelle's ending seems happier on paper but the execution is strangely somber and weird. Verso's ending is more sad on paper but is more colorful and hopeful in execution. I think this was done on purpose because people would naturally lean towards the Maelle ending but then have some second thoughts after watching it, meanwhile the Verso sending seem bad on the surface but has glimmers of hope.
Both of them are intended to be equal.
If you wanna talk about Maelle doing weird shit with her powers as headcanon then talking about her committing suicide is complete headcanon too.
You shall walk, faggot. And Maelle might even return your very first wifu to you.
It's not "the last part of his soul". It's not even a part from the Verso who recently died. It's a figment of Verso as a child that isn't really much different from any other being in the painting and all Maelle is "forcing" him to do is not be wiped out. The "never want to paint again" is just a call back to his desire to be a musician instead of a painter. He doesn't actively want to die, he just wants his family to get over his death and in their own twisted way, they do. The only one seething in Maelle's ending is painted Verso.
So cool how the conflict of "should we let this tortured soul paint forever" is introduced in the very last minute of the game and no one would ever predict that the existence of this world requires torture prior to that moment
Did anyone in this thread actually WANT to destroy the entire world prior to the final minute of the game?
Goblu boss fight
I never picked up on this, but I couldn't beat Simon yet, only reached his second phase. So it was painted version of Clea from the Flying Manor who fell in love with Simon, not the real one? How did real Clea was able to resist the pullbof the canvas?
They clearly introduce that Maelle and her mom will die cause they are addicted to the painting so I was already thinking about it. You literally just keep making the same post over and over, dude.
tortured soul
The only tortured soul here is painted Verso. Everyone else are rather happy. Including shota-Verso.
That's what I don't appreciate about act 3. The morality of erasing an entire world is barely touched on. The arguement is mostly centered around Maelle and Verso when their decision impacts everyone else in the painting.
The moral of the story is no one should have the power to haphazardly make and unmake countless lives on a whim. Burn all painters and writers.
Because that's not even the point of Maelle's ending. That anon is making a big deal out of something the game doesn't really engage with.
It's not "the last part of his soul"
Yes it is lmao, what crack are you smoking?
...so does Maelle paint Sciel's unborn child inside her womb?
I don't care about Maelle, I love Sciel, Lune, Esquie, Noco, Monoco and all the other Gestrals and Grandis. It's them I am saving (even if it'S only for a few decades), not Maelle.
Did anyone in this thread actually WANT to destroy the entire world prior to the final minute of the game?
so you went into the final fight WANTING to destroy the world correct? You are saying this earnestly?
How can Clea "talk" with Alicia when she's basically mute due to her throat damage? It seemed kinda silly that you get dialogue options when all that comes out is "..." with little gargling noises, yet Clea acts as if she fully understood her. Or do they have telepathy as part of their magic?
I really liked that they gave RL Alicia her own, very weak noises when she's moving around in the mansion. It's those little things..
people would naturally lean towards the Maelle ending
meanwhile the Verso sending seem bad on the surface
I was agreeing with Renoir all the way back during his boss fight already
Both. He first met and fell in love with the painted Clea, but then the real Clea interfered and whispered him sweet nothings (orders) in his ear and pumped him up with the painter powers. He picked up the difference, but didn't refuse the power.
Based escapism enjoyer
maelle is so flat haha
save the painted world knowing i have the self control
maelle becomes addicted
wtf
The same way everyone can talk to Gestrals despite them explicitly being unable to speak English. Fuck you is the answer.
I wasn't sure how I felt. I earnestly was on the fence. I liked everyone, including Verso and didn't want him to suffer. However, I didn't wanna kill my friends. But I didn't want to have Maelle die in a fantasy world.
You know how a book has inner thoughts written on its pages? Yeah
should we let this tortured soul paint forever
That reminds me of the plot of The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas and it's basically the same dilemma. I bet they took some inspiration of it, as well.
Verso is an immortal man and it’s already shown he kinda wants to die already
You can't even predict that in the final fight you even have a choice to destroy or save the world given that Maelle is totally pro-save the world up until the final moment that Verso begs her not to.
Uh, I thought it was obvious there was gonna be a choice when the two main characters have completely conflicting ideas on what should be done and their issues were never resolved.
Why would Verso even help Maelle defeat finalRenoir when he wants the world and himself to die? Unless it requires a last second reveal to make him change his mind
shit taste

Why can't there be a single sane female in this video game?

>WTF WHY DON'T THEY MAKE GOOD GAMES?
I.E. a blend of their lack of creativity/self-respect and their market having no standards. The real question is: Who gives a shit?
Having an emotional attachment to a corporate conglomerate and the product they shill, regardless of content and context, is mental.
Because he's her brother
Painted Clea had it worst than Painted Alicia. At least the latter was loved by Painted Renoir and Painted Verso, the former was effectively taken over and possessed by IRL Clea and forced to paint Negroes I mean Nevrons forevermore.
Why are you holding a bottle of shampoo?
This is the only thing I am not sure about. I don't really know why he wouldn't just team up with Renoir. The only thing I can think of is that he doesn't just wanna beat her up and force her out of the painting and make her hate him. He wants to try to convince her or something, but then at the end he just ends up beating her up anyways. That I legitimately don't know.
shotaVerso states she's SOVLLESS
What did he mean by that, when do the painted lads lose their SOVL?
unfathomably based devs

we win music of the year.
What is this freemason shitpost you keep doing? I mean really, what does 33 have to do with free masons?
There hasn't been a good FF game in literally 25 years.
MMO shit doesn't count.
That's an award from an obscure association whose only notable award is "Artist of the Year" which they gave to an idol group known more for their stage theatrics than music.
You may as well have gotten an award from a Seattle-based furry convention.

Anon, I am asking a genuine question about what the number 33 has to do with Free masons
The game did a great job with the Gestrals and Esquie, they were consistently entertaining and not annoying like they could have been. Just European sensibilities I guess (I am American).
Jesus Christ
Yes, what about him?
Wriggers are in this thread
Be praised
the fact that in her ending she has the painter face. You see it during the act2->3 transition that when a painter is using their powers they get the chroma on their face. Verso's hesitation and the shot of the crew's faces before showing maelle's chroma face and the sound change suggests she's forcing him to play when he doesn't want to. It's also not even the exact same verso as before, his hair is different. She basically created a NEW verso for the sole purpose of having her happy little world where she gets everything she wants.
She's also 16 and has only known like constant suffering, she's not really had the proper time or care to overcome her suffering either. Her ending is a childlike dream where she never grows as a person. Basically that "you cheated" copypasta
Walahi
Generally accepted to have been executed at age 33. It also coincides with the 99 (33 + 33 + 33) names of God in Islam.

wonder what he would think about all this
But Verso died at 26
Yeah the gestrals could have easily been just shitty wooden minions but their odd speech that you can sort of understand without subtitles mixed with their confident stupidity was done so well
One thing to consider about the ending choices:
The real Verso sacrificed himself, so Alicia could live on.
Her essentially killing herself in HIS painting while also enslaving the reminder of his soul against his will, completely shitting on his legacy and pushing the family into further ruin, is something he absolutely would have not wanted. It means he died in vain while making everything worse for everybody involved.
I had fun debating the ending with you anons
Why in the world would you return to the real world when you could become essentially god of another for a much longer duration than your mortal lifespan? Just have your whole family join you in your painting like one big family acid trip until you die irl. Like who cares if you're dying irl when you're living a second, way better life in another plane of existence in exchange.
There's a difference between the living and existing
WHO DID THEY MODEL CLEA BASED OFF OF
SHE'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I'VE SEEN
I don't know who that is. I'm not even the original anon who you were questioning, I'm just identifying the potential connection between Freemasonry and the number 33.
It's her life, so it's her choice, even if it's a bad one.
pushing the family into further ruin
Everyone in that family is a retarded cunt that have no chance of ever being together with the painting or not
She has made no attempt to live in the real world, even after the burns, due to her grief. She basically shut herself away and became a ghost like Renoir says.
Get in line
Babby's first exposure to the philosophical notion of Paradise?
Same, the ending choices are interesting since your subjective opinion on so many different aspects on which the endings build on lead to such vastly different opinions on the actual endings themselves and none of them really feel wrong
why specifically Asian?
It's wild, huh? Being reminded of what an honest-to-god good videgame can be in this day and age?
Romance Sciel
Pick Maelle ending
Maelle didn't do Verso a solid of not bringing back Pierre so that Sciel and Verso could live together
Time to erase the cavas
No, I have asked this question in other things like FFTA. Theres no good reason to return to the 'real world' when nobody is harmed or the benefit much outweighs it.
Verso can have his cuck chair
Shit gameplay is fine if it has an ambiguous narrative that takes 15x as long to tell themes that your average kike screenwriter can get across in 90 minutes for $12.50
is there a medium with less standards than vidya at the moment? TV seems pretty close with long-running soaps and sitcoms, but damn.
You see it during the act2->3 transition that when a painter is using their powers they get the chroma on their face
You see in the fake epilogue that both Renoir and Aline have those faces as well merely by being inside the painting
It's also not even the exact same verso as before, his hair is different
I mean given the one from before disappears in her arms after the boss fight... duh. She repaints him with his memories once again and mortal so he can die
Her ending is a childlike dream where she never grows as a person
I don't disagree, I can think her ending is the bad one and still see Verso metaphorically trapped into playing the piano, not literally via Maelle Painter mindrape
You have to be dense to not see how heavily its implied that shes in control of everything there now when she nods at him to start playing.
>Romance Sciel
Verso is a dildo for her. Nothing more.
It's her life so it's her choice
It's his painting and it's his fragment of soul
She cried, anon.
The fact that classic FFT Marche pic about escapism is literally the game's Act 3 plot is hilarious
At least the cast in Star Ocean 3 had the agency to actually travel to the real world and still managed to continue existing even after the plug was pulled, meanwhile Lumiere is gommaged constantly at the whims of Renoir, Aline & Maelle
I'm glad the game is all around very solid. Not just the story and writing, but also the art direction, the music and gameplay, all are good and reinforce each other.
Speaking if that ending. Did maelle make a new verso or something? He was turning to dust, did she repair him or make a new one? I was confused
I believe that verso's ending is the correct choice. It sucks that everyone in the canvas dies but that's part of how reality is. If they weren't painters and verso died that'd be it. They should be happy they had this chance to see him and spend time with him again and try but ultimately accept it's over and move on. Alicia's real life sucks pretty bad but there may still be hope for her. At the very least let her have her own canvas she can go into at times and actually leave it and not plan to die in a canvas
Did you miss the part where her face is turning into the fading woman's
Intrinsic psychological law isn't a question of reason. The mind of an otherwise average or stable person becomes set upon by itself in extended periods that lack even the perceived potential for discomfort or strife.
Success without failure.
Order without chaos.
And so on.
An experiment, maybe, of him growing up without his past memories, or maybe that's Verso's son. Who the fuck knows
Shit gameplay
Stopped reading right here
What kind of porn addict reasoning is that? The whole point of the meta narrative is that the emotional catharsis you get out of fiction is real and lives on with you.
But he is already dead anyway. Isn't it worth it to keep him painting for the sake of people of Lumiere and Gestrals?
And that's still a bullshit that counters by the fact that Verso almost shouted at her for killing Alisia. They are their own people. The creatures within the painting have free will. They'll give her a share of troubles, for being a ruler is never easy.
She just brought him back same way she brought Gustave or Sophie or Pierre or anyone not named Lune and Sciel
So Maelle would become a complete degenerate over time?
But he is already dead anyway
Exactly, and he gave his life to save Alicia only for her to choose to die in denial with a fake Verso
I was waiting for someone to bring up Emet
that classic FFT Marche pic
FFTA is underrated as fuck. I wish they did a HD-2D remake like other FFs.
He's as fake to her as Gustave was a fake brother-father to her. Don't be a retard.
Agility is so good
The thing is she was literally born into lumiere's world as well. It should be just as real to her as outside the painting. Just because its a pocket galaxy doesn't make it fake.
Though i agree she should have left and only come back one a year as a festival thing like a happy gommage
It's precisely because of that that the healthiest take is to make a clean break from it all instead of keeping up the delusion of a grieving teenager any longer. It'll only get harder.
I did 1 playthrough with a lot of vit and would still get 1 shot, i went all agi this time with no vit and im way tankier. The defense from agi is so strong
delusion
It's her life. Don't make decisions for a girl who lived two and chose to stay in both of them.
A life at the cost of others
What others
have literal magical powers to fully create a new world from scratch, complete with multiple inhabitants that act as living, breathing humans complete with all their complex emotions etc.
can't heal the burnt face and throat of my daughter
yet I can do it inside the painting just fine including mindfucking her into a baby
Her parents, her sister and the brother that sacrificed himself for her to not do something this stupid
Funny think how painted bodies make just fine hosts for the 'real' beings
"yes child, consume drugs!"
it's your life and you're sad because your brother died, now hit that cocaine line"
lived two and chose to stay in both of them
Alicia hardly "chose" to stay when she entered the painting, she was meant to get her parents out but accidentally let Aline's Chroma take over her
Clea tells her, after you finish the last floor, that Maelle shouldn't listen to anyone, and not to her retarded parents especially, and do what she really wants. In that way, she gives her much more respect and understanding than Verso. And besides, she's 16, in two years she'd be 18 and could do whatever the fuck she wants as a proper adult. You're talking like she's 6.
The main thing that doesn't make sense in the plot is thinking Painters and Writers wouldn't have all expired from escapism quick fixes
People in real life already waste away from things vastly less addicing, it's like if virtual reality that feels just like the real thing actually comes out, you'd be insane to think people wouldn't be connected to it 24/7
Which side do Musicians and Architects take in the Writers vs Painters conflict?
Escapism fags know nothing of love and genuine human interaction. It is known.
The life inside the painting is hardly a drug. You've seen it yourself.
The side of each having their own painted Maelles to engage in heinous acts with as escapism
In the words of Clea, being with their "obscene fake waifus"
Correct, Uematsu's OST is better, but this one is a 10/10.
It quite literally is with how addicting it is for real people and how you die from overdoses of it. Renoir lost himself in it and Aline saved him, Aline lost herself in it and we save her, Maelle wants to lose herself in it pushing away her father and memory of her brother and you see it as a good thing
They definitely needed to elaborate more on the nature of the real world. Though that aspect specifically is probably not that different than people hooked on fent and visual novels.
Do you even Pygmalion
There's that inevitable doom in both versions. You're just stripping her of the way she wants to live and pass.
You'd have a point if the game didn't factually state that the painting worlds were real with sentient beings in them. Its evil to destroy them at the expense of the well being of a small family of 3-4 people. Why should they destroy all these creations and return to the painful real world when these worlds are literally real too? Better to be a kind and caring god for a longer time than just go back to being a regular person.
you.. you DARE live in this simulation that feels just like the real thing where you also have godlike powers???
It's escapism! Can't you see it's not healthy?!
Clea seems to be the only one in this family with any bit of sense
Still not seeing the downside.
A: Go back to your plain, boring unhappy life.
B: Use your magical powers to literally create worlds with sentient beings and be happy
The flaw of 'escapism' only applies when the alternative isn't real, or is somehow a net negative to the real. The only person harmed by these people painting themselves to death is themselves.
She should just have burned the entire canvas with maman and papa inside and Alicia too
inevitable doom
It's not inevitable. Make her stop, get her clean.
You're stripping her of the way she wants to live
You're making her do what both she and her mom have refused for years: confront reality and grieve. Not locking themselves in their room, not locking themselves in a painting playing make-belief with a homunculus dead brother, actual healing with their real relatives, grieving the loss together and actually moving on from it together to see a new day
Hate to say it but if these guys made a soulslike with this artstyle next they'd be drowning in money
Not to mention that creation is addictive. There's nothing wrong with leaving your legacy within a canvas.
They aren't destroyed. This couldn't possibly be more obvious, the characters live on through Alicia as they are meant to. Everyone here is supposed to help her move on.
I hope gestrals are a reoccuring thing in every Clair Obscur game
No please
Clea hair
gommage outfit
Lune
SEX SEX SEX SEX SEX
come on anon, it's time to put down videogames and live in the real world!
It's not inevitable.
We'll all die, retard. The ability to chose how we do it, however, is our own right. People don't do shit they don't want to do.
confront reality and grieve
It's not grief at this point. She loves that world. She grew up in it, as a normal girl. It's her home. Why don't you see it?
???? Its blatantly implied Renoir destroys that painting after theyre all ousted from it.
All that was missing in Expedition 33 desu was a swamp and a Tower of Latria like level
Golden Harvest & Forgotten Battlefield were already massively on the nose
Duellisto and those cultist women enemies are basically clones of Souls shit
Now imagine if videogames were actual life like virtual reality...
You know how people will keep playing videogames over and over because they just wish the characters there would stick around and be their friends? Yeah. It doesn't even matter what happens to the physical medium thereafter.
Anon Babbleerso
Anon Babblelicia
He didnt bitch out until he saw renoir open the portal to the place he "wasn't suppose to be"
Today I remind you that December 33 doesn't exist in real life
Can you elaborate? Are you implying she should just make a new world with all those same people after awhile? Its the same shit as Soma with the coin toss. Those beings are dead, it doesn't matter if you paint them again. It would be gross and she knows it.
We'll all die
It's one thing to die of old age and another to overdose at 27 in an alley somewhere
The ability to chose how we do it is our own right
As is the ability of a family of the affected to fight against their stupidity. "What's that, my mother/sister/gf/whatever wants to hang herself? Well it's her right" is unbelievably stupid
It's not grief at this point
It was always grief. This all started when neither her nor Aline accepted Verso died. Full stop. Clea did, as did Renoir. Trying to run away from the grief and concealing it with make-believe has done nothing but make the situation worse for almost seven decades. The cycle needs to stop
Woah buddy, next you gonna tell us Painters don't have powers to create pocket universes?
Theres time dilation at play. The paintress would be alive way, way longer than her body in the real world. Most people would absolutely love being hooked up into a hyper realistic fantasy world while their bodies lay in a hospital bed on an IV.
It's one thing to die of old age and another to overdose at 27 in an alley somewhere
Renoir spent 70 years within the painting. You seem to joyfully ignore it.
is unbelievably stupid
When a person is sure as fuck determined to do something and doesn't want to change it, he won't. Ever. It will repeat again, if not this painting, then another. What are you, twelve?
It was always grief.
It's also happiness and new experiences that are just as addicting.
DLC with true ending when??
Scalable final dungeon and bossfight when??
Especially if it meant they could live ages while their body in real life barely experienced a day or week even
Because it's definitely obvious Renoir and Aline didn't fucking age the 70+ years they were inside the painting
Who are those retards asking for a true or happy ending in all games? Are you doing this to make yourself feel better?
The paintress would be alive way, way longer than her body in the real world.
Renoir already shows us Aline losing her fucking shit irl when he opens a tear to it
Renoir spent 70 years within the painting
Trying to put an end to the madness, yes
When a person is sure as fuck determined to do something and doesn't want to change it, he won't. Ever
Sounds awfully deterministic. "Someone that's alcoholic/suicidal can never ever ever change". Fuck people that think like you
are you, twelve?
You sure seem to be
It's also happiness
Fake happiness. It was always grief. We're done here
Someone's still grieving, I see. Perhaps you should take your own advice and fuck off from Anon Babble for a start, mon ami.
no argument
I'll accept the concession
What? No. It's a direct analogy of what happens with JRPG parties once you are done with a game. You are meant to take the cathartic experience with you, even though everything is in a canvas or at a screen the transformational power of art is very much real.
I want the characters I love to have a happy ending.
Who cares about irl? Hook me up into the Matrix where im in charge and let me slowly decay while I live out tons of 'fake' lifetimes in a way better life.
You can't expect me to reply seriously to the tantrum of a traumatized child.
That's just sad man...
Rebirth OST isn't 8 hours of peak
What actually surprised me is how varied and long the OST is.
There's a fucking new random battle song for every dungeon.
Multiple world map songs too.
Every boss also has their own song, even shit like Eveque & the fat water place boss.
Almost every area has a unique theme too, including all the optional places
Our brains already made a choice for us by not caring what's real and what's not in their most enlightened states such as dreams.
Hey soundcloud guy we need 8 hours of pure bangers
