How would you save the bomberman series?

Don't. Let him rest peacefully.
Give us a collection with ports of 64, the Japan-only Super Bomberman games, and maybe some other novelties, and leave it at that.

Bombergirl will carry on its legacy.

The legacy

Honestly this the last time they touched the N64 titles was on the Wii and Wii U separately they didn't even give us Second Attack also add Jetters game that title was underrated.

you'd think konami would've taken bomberman out back and shot him after the last 3 or 4 barely-advertised flops
i didn't even know the game in OP's pic existed and i'm willing to guess it was up for less than a year

Bomberman sounds like a perfect concept for a party game yet it never made a big splash. What happened?

Do people even remotely associate this with old bomberman?

Bombergirl will carry on its legacy.

It wasn't sexy enough.

Is being turned into coombait a worse fate than simply dying?

i wouldn't make games apple arcade exclusive for starters

Funny because I would ask in almost every bomberman thread I saw if someone had played

It was great back in the day. I used to get into 4-player matches with my friends that resulted in howling laughter, and my wife has always loved to play SB2 with me. But games and audiences evolved, and when couch co-op became a thing of the past, Bomberman went with it.

i'm willing to guess it was up for less than a year

it came out in july 2022. apple arcade is just a marketing void where games go to die.
P.S. there is nothing stopping konami from relisting this as a paid game after it's removed from apple arcade, except that they're jews

It gave us pine and asagi so no

save

What? This is an Apple Arcade exclusive game, dead on arrival.
Bomberman doesn't need saving.

R2 is dead

Amazing is dead and delisted

No collection unlike the other Konami games

Only thing keeping alive is a arcade game exclusive to Japan with weird PC port

Not dead

Bomberman is casual if you play couch multiplayer, if not, it's a very hardcore game where you can die in a second without knowing who killed you

Just make a new iteration on the XBLA Bomberman and put it on every new console that releases, along with PC. It doesn't need to be a massive franchise, it just needs to be available.

How would you save the bomberman series?

Lode Runner reboot with tons of yellow paint.

Switch 2 exclusive launch title ans pay Nintendo for a Smash Bros character. There. Done.

release bombergirl in the west.

This is Bomberman's biggest problem. These games are banal on the surface, but below it they get insanely sweaty and on a level of abstraction that your average normalfag gamer would never understand. The only way to salvage this series is to ditch grid-based gameplay and suicide deaths.

Smash

Because that sure gave a new game to banjo right?

At point I believe Konami just don't wanna do it

Make the main game about a muslim who wants to blow up the entire world, one city at a time.

they should add cute boys to the game too

I would release Bomberman 64 for free on all platforms and then let the series die.

They should do a collection for all the old snes games with online multiplayer.

How to kill your game

How about no

There's no way to save it. The franchise peaked at Bomberman 64

why not

It would kill the game

What if you make them cute traps?

that's what I meant btw

No

Bomberman had an exceptional run and is just plain incompatible with modern design trends. There is no way to update it for a hail mary that would revitalize the series. Namco hasn't learned its lesson with Pac-Man yet, but Konami can probably allow Bomberman to die with honor.

Well Anon Babble, how would you feel if your dying ip from the 80's was on its last legs, and being propped up by a "coomerbait" arcade game?

Where is my next gen bombergirl game.

It did die with Hudson. There isn't a SINGLE classic Bomberman game on NSO. They refuse to carry on the legacy of Hudson's Bomberman (outside of references in Bombergirl for some reason). Konami Bomberman is something else entirely.

I would make a game like bomberman world for the ps1 with a single player campaign mode as well as the multiplayer features as well as maintaining the excellent sound design and ost and creating those cool cutscenes in a similar design, lean into those early 2000s aesthetics as 2000s nostalgia is peaking right now

I never actually saw gameplay of bombergirl before this thread, but it actually looks fun (gacha elements aside). Take that as a base for a new Bomberman, inject classic bomber characters into it, and get rid of the gacha elements.

Viral marketing campaign involving lots of bombings.

Nem regular Bomberman but it features the bombergirls instead

by hudson

Konami Bomberman is something else entirely

It isn't actually anything, bombergirl has zero presence outside of the extreme niche of japanese arcades and despite R and R2 getting displays and kiosk at gaming events, the actual games themselves were just half-hearted remake of super bomberman.

They need to actually do something interesting to shake up the maze gameplay or scrap it entirely instead of just release more of the same. Hudson, at least knew that during the N64 to Gameboy Advance era before they reverted back and then died.

Power Bomberman has the classic style but dozens of characters, Bombergirls included.

9848671864+.jpg - 723x529, 84.09K

Have they tried making a game

When all the designs are hot garbage that could be mistaken for any run of the mill gacha skank then yes

Only if they don't bow to any western demands whatsoever.

Resume the development of more adventure games.

Release 2 3D Legacy Collection games for $20 each or $35 as a double bundle.

BM3DLC 1: Bomberman Hero, Bomberman 64, and Bomberman 64 TSA

BM3DLC 2: Bomberman Generations and Bomberman Jetters

Then announce a new 3D Bomberman in the same style as 64 TSA. Make it a double-A game for $40. Collect sales data from the above 3 and see what the market wants. If the Generations and Jetters game outperforms the new game and/or the N64 games, make a new game in that style.

does it need saving?
it's just an IP
it has good games that can be played today, like Bomberman 64

I don't see the franchise as something that needs more games. Modern audiences don't want it, so it just risks losing money.

I want more games like the ones I enjoyed. You can only replay a game so many times before you get bored of it.

why not just make more games like the n64 bombermans? those were the ones i liked anyways.

@708808464
bad bait. Post bomber-girl (not bombergirl) coom if you just wanted to bump the thread.

Laugh at Bombermanfags

has 100+ games

one of the most copied games of all time

revolutionized multi-player in gaming

had the first HD game ever

launched the successful B-Daman toyline

good Nintendo history and had a crossover with Wario and Mario Party 2 unused content

has other crossovers with Pac-Man, Transformers, Yatterman and Lilo & Stich

still gets BTFO in SSB and became a complete laughtingstock by everyone

series gets overshadowed by waifufags and coomers beacuse of Bombergirl despite them never playing the game

R got outsold by the new Momotetsu, a fellow Hudson IP that was only released in Japan.

no console game for 5 years

No games on NSO

40th anniversary came and went with no fanfare or events. R2 flopped hard

What a fucking loser. Imagine being a Bombercuck in 2024

Barney is kino

i miss playing bomberman on my ps1 as a kid

make a room

Let's be honest, Bomberman was never a big enough deal in the mainstream. Bombermanfags are delusional and think he’s an A-list vidya character along the likes of Mario, Sonic, Mega Man and Pacman when that never happened. They rightfully deserve to get ridiculed over their obsession over a C-list character who got BTFO by superior franchises in his peak. In the 90s, more people recognized Jerry Seinfeld than Bomberman, what a fucking joke of a franchise.

carl.png - 851x932, 316.12K

Fun fact: Hudson Soft USA went bankrupt in 1995. This is also why many Bomberman games never saw a Western release, and why it was thrown to many different publishers in the US, such as Majesco, Activision, Nintendo, Vatical Entertainment, Atlus, Ubisoft etc..

huds.png - 972x228, 29.75K

Let him rest. Just give him an archetype in yugioh or something.

They would be surprised by how popular bombergirl can be in the west if they'd only localize it.

You have to understand how small of a minority you are in. It's not economical for game development studios to cater to such a small minority.

Bombergirl is lame and soulless. I wanted them to stay the bomberman style of being ninjas with lollipops on their heads.

Make a Generations/Jetters style Bombergirl game.

Just make a new jetters anime.

that's not already a thing? feels like that would exist considering literally everything else is already in YGO.

does it need saving?

No, unlike other IPs Bomberman actually had a proper climax with the 64 games.

I would be really happy if this happened to Castlevania. But I think it also fits Castlevania better than Bomberman, with all the cute playable girls and monster girls.

Smashfags really think the entire gaming community revolves around smash and sakurai's personal biases are law

This just proved AntDude right, nobody sincerely cares about Bomberman.

ant.png - 602x907, 214.44K

Bomberman has never had a consistent gameplay, or story, or characters, the only thing the games have in common is the look and bombs, they don't even go the final fantasy route, I don't understand why bomberman “fans” cry so much for this shitty series.

It genuinely used to be bigger than Sonic. More games, two full TV anime, presence on nearly ever system.

Most konami ips in yugioh are mainly just random one off cards.

Banjo was once an A-lister, Bomberman was always a C-list franchise with shit sales.

Tons of the games have consistent gameplay, you just played the outliers.

Like when someone mentions the top 10 best

You literally wouldn't even see something like Castlevania on any of those lists either, except MAYBE the SNES one, yet it still has a healthy presence in the gaming community despite most related media from it in the last few years being absolute dogshit (from the Netflix slop to the buggy port collections).

People like AntDude are just as retarded as Anon Babble whenever "muh Steam charts" type arguments crop up. Just because something isn't THE BESTEREST doesn't mean it doesn't have value.

Banjo was an overrated 3D platformer that only got attention because it released on the N64, a system notorious for having no games to play especially towards the second half of its lifespan.

You literally wouldn't even see something like Castlevania on any of those lists either, except MAYBE the SNES one
NES
TG16
PS1
GBA
DS

All of these have fantastic Castlevania games that are highly regarded.

Didn't Power Bomberman come out between R and R2? It makes R's existence redundant.

He's right. Despite having a long history of good games people aren't going to put Castlevania on any Top 10 list. It's always been a B list series

Actually tell people you're making a new one?
Release an affordable multiplayer only one like Battlefest?

Symphony of the Night and and (DS TITLE OF CHOICE) are literally obligatory choices in top 10 PS1/DS lists.

Retarded zoomer, SOTN is one of the best PS1 games.

You are only right about SotN, which in all honesty has to be one of the most overrated games of its time.

Saturn Bomberman gets in top 10 Saturn lists regularly.

Still more highly regarded than any Snoy platformer and has a big fanbase.

Like I said it before but literally none of you niggas probably knew that a new one released 2 years ago, or even knew this apple exclusive one came out the year before that.

I like Bomberman but I’ve never been good at any of the game. Even after 20 years I still can’t git gud at them, and 90% of my deaths are from my own bomb.

The series is 40 years old, give it a rest already

i want to post fat louies but i just got unbanned

Name one game, besides Bomberman, where you can play as Bomberman

Pro tip: You can't

Power Bomberman actually existed before R1, it's pretty old.

The real reason R1 sold so well is because it was a switch launch title and if you wanted to play a game with online multiplayer there was basically only 3 options: Mario Kart, Puyo Tetris, and Bomberman R. It sold well purely off of having barely any competition.

R2 was shadowdropped with zero marketing 6 years later to an already oversaturated market. There was no way it was going to pull the same numbers even if it was the best bomberman game ever made (which it clearly isn't).

that's the most ai generated box cover i've ever seen

Bomberman 64 3rd Strike

I played this, it feels really shit compared to melee.

Were there any other games that played like Hero?

It looks like shit compared to any smash bros. Killer cast though.

It’s incredible to me how hard they fucked up after R1 was a pretty decent game and definitely had the foundation set for good sequels

great music and art direction

lots of customization for maps, characters, Konami cameos, etc

good lobby system

fun campaign

Since R1, we’ve had

a failed 32-player online f2p title that went under in less than a year

R2, a horrendous sequel that somehow ruined the battle mode systems of the first game

an Apple Arcade game that’s funded by subscriptions and still goes under

zero attempt to put any classic Bomberman titles on any system, NSO or in a paid collection

What the fuck is their problem? R2 doesn’t even go on sale deeper than $24.99 which is shockingly high

IMG_9905.jpg - 300x300, 20.25K

a failed 32-player online f2p title that went under in less than a year

Being fair, R Online died because it was a Stadia exclusive.

R2 doesn’t even go on sale deeper than $24.99 which is shockingly high

This is the killer. R2 could have floated itself if it had a reasonable price point, but Konami thought a game with a 40 year old formula should charge premium prices. Even if you thought it was worth that personally, clearly everyone else wouldn't.

stadia exclusive

Genuinely what the FUCK were they thinking

honestly how long would it take for a couple guys to cobble together a clone of bomberman 64 with online play for you cuckleheads to waste your miserable lives on

Thinking?

It had a ps4 port

I wouldn't. Bomberman fags deserve to suffer eternally

release game on apple arcade exclusively

release game on stadia exclusively

It’s like they WANT bomberman to fail

Arcade exclusive

Implying pacman has it better when only actual grandparents remember when pacman was popular. Pacman is only included in media as a cameo to appeal to the old audience and because the IP is so valueless it's the easiest thing to get.
Megaman is going to be where bomberman is in about 5~10 years at this rate.

FPBP.

Just port 64 to steam in a big ass collection. After that he can do crossovers until end of civilization.

As one of the few people that actually knew that Pacman was getting a multiplayer game, that also died because Namco forgot to fucking advertise it
Fuck you in particular.

faf.jpg - 520x472, 30.96K

to be fair, most of the people making top 10 best NES/genesis/SNES lists are too young to have actually played the console when it was out so their lists are absolute fucked.
You can look up any modern top 10 SNES list and they'll put universal flops like earthbound and super metroid on the lists, games that were completely ignored during the SNES era and only played on emulators by manchildren that were born after the N64 launched.

are the bomberman single player games past the n64 games worth replaying again or am I having nostalgia again

Pacman has his place but even if namco advertised it I doubt it'd be a big hit.
But this is usual for older titles being brought back, they get completely overshadowed because it's just nostalgia bait.

Just make a regular bomberman game with online and local multiplayer, no retarded live-service bullshit, no vital game content locked beyond predatory microtransactions. Just a regular bomberman game for PC and consoles. That's all people want. There is no reason to buy any of the shitty phone games or touch the "free" to play fake games when anyone could just emulate the classic games that don't try to fuck them in the ass. Just make a regular bomberman game with multiplayer function, and it's guaranteed to sell billion copies.

Hey so we're in the thread of the series who's latest game sold fuck all because nobody knew about it

But you couldn't possibly know that if the company actually told people it existed it would have performed better

flippum.jpg - 695x785, 60.49K

not really
I kind of like generations/jetters but they're objectively not good. Nostalgia helps a lot.
also FUCK this guy
