I played the demo back during the Next Fest and liked it, so I picked up the game on sale (those of you yet to buy and willing to do a little digging, Eneba seems to have it for $35 and seems legit). I've not gotten back into it again though. I read that the first 100 days have basically no choices, aside from your day to day choices on stuff like who to train with, how to spend your time, classes/grades (any anons have tips on if any stats are particularly worthwhile or what to do first? The amount of times you should do the out-of-school exploration board game bits vs the virtual training or hanging out with characters to get closer to them etc?).

After that is when the "real" game starts apparently and there are lots of different branches and endings. Some anon said that its very clear when yo're making a big decision and there's some sort of "map" of what paths you're on in game? Once you get one ending or another, do you have to maintain tons of saves and then go back to the earliest one necessary to branch you towards things you may want to do differently? Or is there some built in mechanic that makes it easy to simply pick back up on another path etc even without having to maintain a ton of saves and lose any progression/gear etc? For instance, if there was some way to keep progression and go back and take another choice? Just curious the best way to play this and don't want to fuck up and end up realizing I need to go back tens or hundreds of hours back in order to get on another path and lose everything in the interim etc.

may I preach the good word of the Darumi route? It's on the spare eito side though and pretty obvious where it is once you see the results of something

there's a couple routes with locks (literal) on them. you need to complete other routes to unlock them. some routes will confuse you unless you've played other routes to pick up the context. there's some obviously wrong choices but it's not as always clear cut as that. there are no routes that "auto-complete" by completing a route so it'll take a while to see them all manually. you can speedrun to the unlockable ending with just a few playthroughs but it might be better to just play normally because you'd understand more once you reach it

After retrieving their memories and ruining Tsumugi's fun they literally set out to go back to their normal lives having found a new appreciation in life.
Like sure, you're led to believe that's the case, but it never is actually the case.

The day to day structure of Danganronpa and the "let's play it all again" structure of the Uchikoshi-style narrative are at odds against one another. You end up HUNDRED OF TIMES in that fucking cafeteria doing bland small talk at best most of the time. The fact this game is supposed to be some "major opus" with a hundred endings ups this to eleven.

Despite being this long, is actually the one Kodaka game with the less developed characters. In Danganronpa, you had to get to know them because you investigate them. Also, you bonded with them during free time events. Here, meeting them in free time events and bonding with them are completely separated: you increase affection by giving gifts (which burns up timeslots giving back nothing but the bonding stat up), instead of hanging out. Also, you have at first very limited time to do so if you want to strengthen your character/equipment etc. The JRPG aspect of the game plays agains the VN aspect of the game, weakening it.

Last but not least, the game is much more tamed than Danganronpa in terms of sexual innuendos and violence – let’s be onest, one of the greatest selling point of the Kodaka games.
