So what's actually wrong with this game? I've only ever played Worlds and I wanted to give it a try but it's too expensive
So what's actually wrong with this game...
easier than World
poorly optimized
no real endgame at the moment, probably have to wait until its own Iceborne/Sunbreak
most story-focused game yet and the story is bad
If you're okay with that, it's more Monster Hunter.
nothing really
only thing i can point to about it is being noticeably easier
i do hate the lack of "monster hunter language" but am immensely grateful i can turn off full VA for palicos
wounds can make some monsters a bit too vulnerable at inopportune times since wound smashing/focus attacks bring monsters to a dead halt on most weapons
some weapons have stupid gimmicks attached to focus mode like insect glaive getting a substantial increase to DPS if attacking with focus mode on because the bug attacks too, or aiming spirit slashes with long sword becomes trivial because you can reorient instantly
seikrets are almost universally worse than palamutes were in rise which is baffling, especially when i'm trying to slinger grab stuff traveling along and my cocksucking chocobo is flailing around because it's set to auto-move, so i have to come to a dead stop and then grab it; and this is if i'm not fighting the little up-and-down menu for stuff to grab because it's shifting constantly
besides that i've clocked 100 hours or a little bit more in it and i've enjoyed it, i didn't pay $70 for it because of greenmangaming
past that it's just world 2 in early lifetime so no super-neat crossover quests or particularly interesting event quests yet, and some stuff outright wasn't finished on launch like lagiacrus (slated for a later update) or zoh shia not having a high rank equivalent fight until most recent update
it runs like shit. part of that is poor graphics optimization. another part is them layering 2 DRM solutions (denuvo + their own shitty drm that doesn't work)
it's still good though
Everything is just too convenient and made things boring.
Also retarded unskippable walk-and-talk segments and poor optimization. I mean, just look at the water effect, it looks like shit but the game can't even run at steady 60FPS on native 1080p on RX 6750XT while having a lot of VRAM headroom. Shit's insane
Just wait till the expansion, it's clearly unfinished ATM
What said but also some deeply misguided design decisions like focus mode and seikret.
I assume the expansion will do what Sunbreak did where you fight every monster in an arena and they're super fucking fast and aggressive because that's the only way to make them challenging with how powerful hunters are.
Someone explain to me seikrets are they better than palamutes?
they're palamutes with worse controls and an autorun function
It's a bird you ride on and has GPS, similar to Raider Ride or the palamute. Some paths are bird only, and it can glide through the air to get to some hidden areas. The items you'd normally get at the start of a hunt are on the bird, and it carries a second weapon for you. You can do small weak attacks on it, you can jump off for aerial attacks, and if you whistle for it on the ground it can pick you up directly into riding it. You can sharpen/heal while riding. Unlike the palamute it doesn't attack and doesn't draw aggro.
Most of the issue with them is their pathing is dodgy and the default settings have them rocket towards what they think your objective is in a really lurching manner that's hard to control. Some people also prefer looking at a dog's ass to a bird's ass.
They're better in the sense that they automatically guide you to your target and pick you up after you get knocked down at the press of a button so you can make space and heal yourself with no downside.
They're worse for the same reasons because it means you don't have to learn the maps (which are kinda shit because open world anyways) and trivializes a lot of the game.
Their auto-tracking is kind of fucked (they can get stuck circling areas, not stopping) and when you're using manual controls their turning is fucking weird
Also I don't know if anyone else has this issue but sometimes I can only mine once while on it even if the node is still there
People complain that is too easy and the graphics are shit on pc, they are right about the second part, but Monster Hunter games have been always easy at the start, and then they get really, really hard at the end.
Thats why we dont have Master or G rank hunts until now, but when they come people will stop complaining about how easy the game is, and start ranting about how incredibly hard it has become.
30 fps
No gameplay changes from World
All monsters are shit
PS3 graphics
Added Lovecraftian shit to a family friendly franchise
Retarded interface
Unskippable walking segments
Shit music
No Elder Dragons on release
Less monsters than MH2 and 4 on release
Proof Of A Hero is literally just a copy of the original but worse
Hammer deals no damage
LS is overpowered
No challenge
No MH language
Is this the worst game of all time?
It's the base version of the game. You'd think that, after going through the cycle once with Rise and Sunbreak, Worldbabs would've gotten the memo that base game releases are practically barren and it'll take over a year before the expansion turns it into a complete game
runs like shit.
but I enjoyed it. looking forward to the expansion.
very easy, no cool stuff like decorating rooms, cosmetic sets are usually just a headpiece, some weapons completely lost their identity, artisan weapons btfo of everything else, event quests are fucking ass, arena challenge sucks and leaderboards are cooked, monster variety is ok but a lot of monsters only go to the exact same places and monsters like gore magala are on really narrow maps so your camera angle gets fucked, focus isn’t even a mechanic you just keep it up the whole time manually basically, turf wars are awful and arkveld wins 99.999% of the time, story is turbo mid and npcs are obnoxious, some of the armor sets look cool but a lot of items are recycled from older games, the food/eating experience isn’t as good. I’m HR147 but mostly because my friend wants to keep current even if he doesn’t really like the game either. MonHun is his favorite franchise
Not enough meaningful content. Aka the bulk of what is in the game is way too easy to be enjoyable. Grind 15 hours to get to the 3 or 4 enjoyable fights and then lose interest in those after 10 hours or so. Unironically just wait for G rank. I wish I had done that. I'm officially done buying base games now. Capcom has lost half a customer.
Wilds is my first MH. Should i buy rise or world? I also hear MHGU one of the highest number of monsters but I'm stupid and intimidated by GU
arena counter npc is a dude now
no option to find lobby for arena quests
no notification of people posting quests in the hub meaning even less chance to find people doing arena quests
people can also just depart quest right away giving you no chance to join
jesus christ what were they thinking
So I basically can't play the game if I don't have anything above 4060 grahpix card?
At least Rise had a bigger roster at launch and at the current rate will have more monsters in its Title Updates AND it had the COVID excuse. Wilds doesn't have an excuse to be as anemic as it is.
The fucking capcom content drip feed
Everybody goes back to it to kill the new boss twice and then fucks off again
Why do they get away with this
I'm running it on a RX2070 with medium-to-high settings.
If you like Wilds, World will be a bit of an adjustment as the monsters hit harder and the lack of focus mode makes positioning far more important. The Iceborne expansion adds an additional rank called G-rank that comes after high rank, but also adds deliberately overpowered armor called the defender gear that's stronger than anything else and designed to blitz you to endgame. Avoid using that your first time.
Rise is much different as it uses a resource called wirebugs to empower special attacks, allow you to vault into the air, and quickly evade on the ground. You can also wallrun and so levels are far more vertical as a result. The pace of combat and overall flow is much different from World or Wilds, so try it afterwards if you still want more.
what Sunbreak did
super fucking fast and aggressive
Sunbreak
fast and aggressive
yes, that's why the monsters are both slower and less aggressive than low rank Frontier and Chaos Gore has more than double the downtime between attacks of his original village hunt in 4.
Thank you i just bought both. Ill play world first
content is in a bit of a dry spell and there's not much to do, but thinking about it this is how it was for Rise too. personally I only went back to it right before Sunbreak dropped so I guess its just par for the course now for nu-MH.
So I guess back to world in the meantime until expansion?
it wastes my fucking time
Game reaches sub-level 50k players from 500k in 2 months
Capcom really fucked up with the shitty story and the trash optimization. That "just update your drivers" shit bit them in the ass
SnS or BOW brothers?
That changes once you get to 300+ anomaly level
Should've bought GU it's better than both of them
Monster behavior only changes for Risen Elders at 251 Anomaly level (271 for Val and Shagaru).
it is no longer monster hunter, but monster fighter
lategame the monsters are knocked out/paralyzed/on the ground for probably about 85% of the fight. only the tempered "apex" monsters and mitshune put up any fight (and the last boss which wasnt even in HR when game launched). the "wound" system is kind of cool, but the way it currently is it is just too easy to keep the monster constantly staggered (in multiplayer, in single player its fine)
the weather system is stupid. each zone has 3 types of weather, fallow (shitty/gray), inclement (too busy, each zone type has a storm, sand is lightning/sandstorm, cold is blizzard, etc.), and plenty- when they actually dont look like shit. so most of the time the zone you are looks shitty.
not sure about consoles but pc performance is AWFUL. the game doesnt look *that* good and eats resources like its the crysis of 2025. they havent really released any performance patches either. also there is either memory leaks on capcom's or nvidia's side, my game sessions always ends in a crash- ive tried everything under the sun but it always crashes.
Way to easy, Ark Tempered was a joke so the meme of ark temp monsters will save this game was a complete lie. It has the same issue all MH games have. It doesn't get good until the expansion version with Master Rank.
Yeah, it's what I'm doing right now.
Rise/Sunbreak is monster fighter, Wilds is monster beater since you just beat the shit out of them when they're down
They aren't the geniuses at Capcom thought it would be a great idea to create a tiny little cat capable of fighting along side you but not the big raptor.
I was describing it at anomaly level 300. Rise/Sunbreak features the slowest and most lethargic monsters the series has ever seen while also giving you the fastest and most mobile hunter. It's silly.
It's mild lmao
Nothing it just filtered billions of poorfag turdworlder
Ninja dogs are better than shitret
LS is overpowered
I want to add to this that Iai Slash timing is bugged and inconsistent and LS mainers and speedrunners have pointed this out since beta.
How they fucked up a key move when it was working perfectly fine in World and Rise is amazing.
hoped we get to pick from a selection of small monsters as a mount because of the Tailraider and riding on small monsters feature in Iceborne and Palamute in Rise
get dunot steel chocobo instead
Stupid high system requirements for a game that looks and runs like shit
HEAVILY story focused and the story is shit and enshittens the lore of the series while it is at it. You can't even skip a decent chunk of it because the game has forced walk and talk sections.
Awful pacing. The game is always throwing hunts at you because Capcom was scared casuals would get bored if they weren't killing monsters at all times and doesn't give you a chance to explore the maps or do some side hunts.
Tiny selection of monsters to hunt. Pathetically small. Everything is too easy too. Killing things in 5~ minutes casually isn't a meme.
Awful camera paired with awful UI. Good luck finding what you want in all the menus and turning off the MMO tier HUD.
"Open world" is a pointless gimmick. Not only are the maps still the same size, but you literally fast travel everywhere so there is no point in it.
Map design is awful and is paired with the awful mount. It's so bad that the game literally has a built in pathfinder that turns itself on everytime you get on the mount.
Baffling design decisions in general:
can track monsters even though you know where they are at all times anyways
game still has paintballs even though, again, you know where everything is anyway
you can fish even though it's now pointless
farcasters are a thing even though you can fast travel at literally any time
can grill meat even though there's next to no use for it now
no need to prep because you can adjust your loadout at all times and maps literally throw resources at you
always online even if you want to play singleplayer
micro transactions in a $70 game
And there's a billion other things I'm forgetting too. Took me 40~ hours to beat Zoh Shia and finish all the quests, and I can comfortably say the game was a waste of time. 40 hours to try and like it and it found a way to disappoint all the way through to the end.
okay but now tell us how you REALLY feel, anons
It's the base version of the game
MH2 had a fun endgame
MH3 had a fun endgame
MH4 had a fun endgame
X had a fun endgame
World had an ok endgame
Rise had a pretty fun endgame
Wilds has literally nothing. There's no reason to keep grinding in this game.
if you told me two years ago they were gonna make a game where both charge blade and gunlance were the easiest baby mode weapons, i would’ve spat at you.
and then i’d profoundly apologize, because wow.
I played MH games religiously since portable. This game made me drop it after 20 hours. I logged in when the update dropped, checked the new zone and then closed the game and uninstalled... I love Mizu and i didn't even care enough to try and fight it. I find the weapon gacha to be really appealing and somehow they made the whole game so retarded they couldn't even bring me to stay for that. I think Capcom found the golden goose with this game. The perfect formula for projects made to use as tax writeoff
tax writeoff
MH Wilds is Capcom's fastest selling game and World is one of the best selling games of all time.
Things are going to stay like this and you're going to like it.
If only it was like World or Rise.
he is unaware
They can't drift, so no.
I don't know what you are insinuating but if it is that World and Rise are the same as this garbage then i have to say that i don't agree with you. I know purists were butthurt back then but to me its not the same.
wrong with this game
Worlds
Shitposting thread.
Off the top of my head from playing it?
The game is legitimately easier then previous titles and I think the laundry list of QoL features add up to make it so. I rarely had to worry about negative status effects, they barely effect you. Getting full health buffs was ready to go right from the start without issue, very few monsters have a dangerous wombo combo that should punish you for being out of position, those that do can still take more than 2 hits to actually cart you at all. The Seikret is like the Palamute but even more braindead in that it just auto sends you to a location or target without any input on your part. You have to turn that off in the menu otherwise that's just the default. Focus mode takes away any actual care in where put yourself or where you attack because you can change it on the fly so you're never really out of place at any given time unless you really fuck up. The entirety of low rank went from the joke "low rank is a tutorial" to literally just being one long tutorial so on the nose that the game actively pulls you back on the rails if you try to get off. There is no legitimate reason to explore in low rank unless you actively want to, nor is there a reason to farm parts because all gear requires the lowest amount of monster parts ever to craft. if you rarely upgrade or improve your gear you won't be too affected by that at all until high rank. Even then many monsters don't have the same level of danger they should to force you to upgrade at all. The only ones I can think of that would force it are Gore Magala, Arkveld, and now Zoh Shia.
TLDR: The game is in fact the easiest it's been and that affects more than just the fights.
