It's perfectly playable and more normie friendly than other editions for the most part.

I turned it up to max difficulty and burned out, because it's just actually not designed to be played and you can only get out of the tutorial by going monk with bonus strikes or some shit. proof that a crpg is not meant to be played that way when you have to go monk level 1. I just couldn't get into the early game. I kept trying to kill this one encounter where random thugs try and kidnap your team and refused to let them, but the encounter was so unbalanced and not made for you to do that I couldn't kill a single enemy.

Pretty sure I tried multiple difficulties, hard mode was also not balanced. I may have even tried challenging. In general, DnD does not take well to modification. Stat bloat is not something most people should mess with, which is all the difficulty options are. If I want to go two tiles over on the world map from the main road and you drop me in a one screen tile with like 8 dudes I'm going to try and fight them. But that wasn't the first time I tried the game.

When I first played it I made an entire custom team ready to nerd it up only to realize I softlocked progression because I didn't level up on purpose to get a discount on adventurers which made the story encounter impossible. Then when I got past that I was walking along the "story path" and there was broken UI floating around

If you charge on a horse, you get stuck and miss your turn. Owlcat games did nothing more but remind me of how much better BG1/2 are. Boy do I love grinding a shitty fucking heroes clone for 20 hours to unlock a bunch of forts just so I can do Nenio's terrible quest! In-universe for Pathfinder, that's "saving the world on the regular" power level and your characters are further enhanced by your mythic power.
