Rivals 2 is already dead you clueless furfaggot. Most of the player's sponsors are their primary income and the sponsors care about results in higher-viewership games. The players without sponsors (except probably Carmelo because he's a child getting 7th/2500 just by playing Steve for 1 year) have been sponsored at some point and are similarly desperate to not get real jobs.

I never thought I'd end up being convinced, but Smash 4 with Bayonetta banned would absolutely be better competitive game than current day Ultimate. Granted, that's like comparing solid shit to diarrhea, but at least one doesn't reek as bad.
Tiers don't matter until you hit really high level. If you play fucking Bowser at locals, you'll get far enough on skill alone.
Doesn't mean it isn't the better game with larger prize pools. EVO alone is about to pass 10K with 3 months to go. It feels like the only reason most NA Ultimate players continue to compete is to spite the game and beat its shit design.

this is even more true for ultimate than it is melee, retard. shit tiers in ultimate are much better than melee bowser or kirby, easily. melee is obviously the much better game still, but not because of its balance. before dlc ruined it ultimate was the best balanced smash easily, and even now Id still say its better balanced than melee, though not by much because steve is such an OP shitter but its somewhat balanced by the fact hes unconvential and actually requires skill to play well, unlike brawl MK or 4 bayo

They weren't that campy. acola played pretty aggressively and kept edgeguarding that shit out of Raru. He also used Aegis for one game for whatever reason.

He was overpowered, but you still needed to know what you were doing. Multiple MK pros remained top players into later games, proving that their skills are legit. Same can't be said Bayo, with Lima being the only Smash 4 Bayo to still be relevant.
I can get behind that, though honestly he's not much different than the other flavors of "this character does everything your character can do but better" Smash 4 had with Sheik, Diddy Kong, and Rosalina, doubles withstanding since Cloud managed to get lightly banned in those.

It'd be even worse. Items and stage hazards are lame as fuck in Ultimate and there will be even more camping and unfair fights, because top players know how to use items.

Items stopped being fun in Brawl. They were peak in Melee but no one likes to acknowledge it. 4 and Ultimate just threw way too many at you regardless of frequency settings, and they're all busted (therefore not actually fun, it's all the same shit).

Hell yeah. I tried to enjoy Ultimate but stopped playing not long after Terry was introduced. I finished up the single player content with all the DLC and that was pretty much it, even the friendly get-togethers we had died out fast, a lot more quickly than it did for Smash 4. Oh well
Ill never understand why people seethe over the online so much. I have 300+ hours in ultimate that was literally all online grinding up elite smash for different characters. maybe 1 in 20 matches I got severe lag, the rest were all fine. its light years better than the brawl days

Online favors a very campy playstyle due to the input lag, stage selection and bad netcode (hence why zoners are so popular online), I would also say heavy characters like DK, Bowser or K.Rool benefit a lot from the bad netcode too.
Elite Smash is infamous for having GSP cheesers abusing rulesets or lame playstyles solely to get easy wins and GSP (you will face a campy zelda playing 2min match with items/final smash on regardless of your ruleset options), the way GSP works also favors you not playing it because you earn only a bit of GSP when you win but if you lose once you lose a crap ton of points, you cant also swap characters on the go so if you find someone fun to fight or just an annoying faggot you want to beat you have to stick with the character you're using, also a lot of the playerbase plays one match only and leaves (regardless if they win/lose or the connection was stable or not), making it much difficult to get used to their playstyles or find ways to properly fight the character they're using, also the popular characters in Elite are super frustrasting to fight.
Arenas are slightly better IMO but they're still not that good.
