Hell, Marcus doesn't even have a clear cut weaponry advantage on Dieck, since Dieck's massive Con and higher sword rank means that he can use the Killing Edge and the two blades against the early game axe spam with little to no downside.

False, Marcus has bad non lance weapon ranks, can't reliably secure a kill on his own and struggles to be useful at all past chapter 7 without supports. Promo gains are overrated. Dump every stats booster on your Jagen unit. This is the only correct way to use stats boosters. Growth units do not require them since they grow naturally.

From the few FEtubers I've watched Nagapedia they love Echoes' presentation, but hate the map design. Maybe I 'got lucky' but that's really just average Soren with +2 HP, +1 STR, +1 SPD, -1 LCK, +3 DEF. Even just using him for staff utility after promo makes him pretty high up, I would think.

That's where I'd disagree. Soren's theoretical advantages lose out due to his stat distribution being worse (notably by losing spd due to horrible str), and Adept is okay but doesn't help as much as the sheer defensive potential that Shade offers.
