Game that were supposed to be huge franchises

i don't know why you assume dragon's dogma was meant to be a huge francise

the first game was clunky as hell

DD2 just revealed that Itsuno was Inafune 2.0.

Dd2 and wilds are two of the shittiest games I've played in recent memory. Especially wilds.

Angry flopma 2 fanboy

MH makes money, unlike Flopma

Dd2 sucks and I want the franchise erased from history because of it. I don't know what you're getting at.

Not really. That was an issue people who never played DD1 exasperated. By design choices alone Dragon's Dogma never could have become some massive runaway success. And then there were the added problems in DD2.

remake game

don't include most popular part

call it 2

lmoa

Unknown 9.

Most shameful thing ever attempted. Concord might come close but look at this.

I'm playing through DD2 right now.
The story kinda just went off the rails, I was looking into the info regarding the amulet that queen gave her fake arisen to usurp the throne from us.
In the desert land I talked to some ghost lady who told me to go talk with the hobo from the fishing village. When I arrive there a castle randomly rises from the bottom of the ocean.
I go inside, meet the ghost of the cat king, who's supposed to some super gigachad who killed a bunch of arisen already, we talk (he talks) for 1 minute, then he commits suicide I guess and gives me a blade made from his soul.
Now the game tells me to give the blade to the villains of the story that operate the "evil magic laboratory".

Like what? What are we even doing anymore?

Still mad. I waited for so long before giving up hope. Even now, I want to play Advent Rising 2 in spite of knowing it would be pure garbage if it were made today.

trying to release Unknown 9 before the 8 prequels

doomed from the start

they killed deep down for this

DMC5

DD2

Itsuno was a hack all along. I want the people back who made DMC3 and DD1 into what they were.

Anon Babble would throw a tantrum because the person responsible for flowery ye olde English and the original DD's narrative was a black woman

60% of steam's user cant run it
80% of those who can aren't interested in it
99% of those who were got done with it last year
=
662

Explain Sekiro player numbers then

2 shit games

90% of steam's user can run it

I dont think it was suppose to be a huge franchise I think they just didnt care and gave Itsuno his project he asked for but didnt intend to get behind it. Its evidenced in the fact they have not updated or done anything with the game since release.

Its not even a bad game, but jesus christ, its the most dissapointing game Ive played since Fable2, and I am sad to see DD get a nail put in its coffin like this, there is no "we want DD2" and speculating on what it could be, the IP is dead, we saw they never had any ambition with to make something memorable.

I am baffled how these sorts of things happen, its not only a bad idea to put this much money and resources into something that isnt even potentially well recieved, but it is so utterly and painfully generic. There are so many franchises that actually exist that could take that money and resources and make an empire, but instead, its stuff like this, where it dies on its ass at the first step and had a whole empire in the pipe.

The main story is dogshit, it is clear that it was rushed as soon as you hit Battahl. Everything from the quests, the dungeons and the environment even are simplified to non existence, the volcanic island after has NO QUESTS at all, just the hybrid classes. Its like they got to a point and had to wrap up the game so just wrapped it up where they got to.

Its a shame because I actually like the secondary quests and gameplay, they need to just make a dungeon crawler with this gameplay.

Feels fuckin weird that I enjoyed Dragons Dogma 2 so much more than DDDA
Helps that I have a pretty good PC but even the combat, world, pawn interactions, dialogue, I just preferred way more than the original

The story is complete nonsense. I have never been more dissapointed in a plot before.

oh yeah bro we're gonna uncover this plot

just kidding you're at the endgame now go kill this dragon lol

You now remember Resistance.

There are things they get right, with the pawns and the environment. I even like the cat people.
It feels like two thirds of the game got done, but the rest of it had to get kind of rushed so they could get it out the door. None of it is bad, as such; no bugs (for me anyway) the combat still feels good, the vocation are still fun even if changed. But it feels less complete than DDDA did to me.

I was late to the DDDA party and didn't have crazy high expectations for the sequel, so that's probably why I wasn't expecting much.
Would I have preferred a better story? Yeah. Fuckin Ulrika and Nadinia barely feature in the plot. Whole story was super fuckin weak
Definitely just enjoyed the journey/exploration. And I hope the poor sales don't disuade them from making a proper sequel

a bad idea to put this much money and resources

t it is so utterly and painfully generic

Suits think it's a great idea to make something as "safe" as possible and throw millions on it, because it's a safer investment and they might make money as opposed to something new and fresh which has even bigger chance to flop.
They don't want to make masterpieces that don't sell, they are happy and content being a slop conveyor that returns money.
They may have a misstep with that one particular franchise, but lets be real, normalfags love generic soulless slop and a next one may be a success.

There is definately things I liked, the problem is that it feels like half a game. I have no intention of coming back to it because I would have to start a new game because there is no end game content like DD1, and the game is too long to just do a playthrough of unlike DD1 which is only like 25 hours long and then you have BBI, DD2 is like fucking 80 hours long and youre done with it long before the end comes, and then theres no BBI equivelent to just jump into and play. Like I can load up DD1 and just do a bunch of runs of BBI with peoples pawns, in DD2, theres nothing.

I really hope this isnt the end for DD, I love this combat, I like the pawn system, it needs to develop what it has and elaborate on it all more, but well never get there.

some fat lesbian had to greenlight this

I get that for sure, but, like, write a book or comic, or make one game and see if it sticks. They are making all these plans for something that may aswell be shovelware, its so fucking dumb.

If I was in charge of that much money, I would simply start buying up successful indie studios, and start pushing whatever is successful. Take something like Kenshi or Valheim, take those, make a comic series and animated shorts, and that is how you make an empire, on the success of something that is actually successful. It doesnt need to be Fortnite popular, it just needs to actually have an audience that is shown to exist.

Every DD game has a story that's either garbage, unfinished or both.

Noone plays DD for the story, the problem with DD2 is that there isnt much outside of the story to engage with. Literally just copy and paste BBI and add more room designs to DD2 and I would play it. These games are unmatched for the adventure aspect, which is almost entirely seperate from the plot shit.

Literally just copy and paste BBI and add more room designs to DD2 and I would play it.

Itsuno refused to add any of the things that made DD1 great (basically all the additions from Dark Arisen) because he had nothing to do with them. Dude's ego ruined DD2, and I hope he suffers for it.

I'm sick of AAA cutting corners. Osaka game companies are especially bad and ugly.

Noone plays DD for the story

I'm I actually enjoyed the story up to that point. The characters are underdeveloped and it's kinda basic but it was perfectly serviceable for a power fantasy.
The lore of the setting is very interesting - everything regarding dragon, arisen and seneschal, hell they even made pawns and brine kinda work within the lore even though they're extremely gamey elements.

No wonder he got fired.
I mean left the company.

Just make DD2 online and all the problems will be solved. You guys just have to keep bombing Capcom.

Thing is, Kinoshita is now in charge of DD, so if they DO happen to do more DD it would be from the guy that made BBI and is in charge of gameplay of DD2. Again, I hope this isnt the end, I actually liked DD2, Im left wanting more, like where is the rest of the game, do something with it, Im not left in a state where I dont care about DD anymore after DD2.

Its not that its terrible, its that youre not playing it FOR the story, its just there. DD1 definately had a more concise and better told story, DD2 is a sort of meta narrative of DD1, which while interesting, people actually wanted a sequel and not a commentary on the first game.

The truly frustrating part is that behind the terrible perfomance lies a beautiful game for all it's faults. The first was teh same, but they at least managed to get it to work, even on the consoles at the time. So unless the next director the DLC can at least funnel all those issues into a mega dungeon that doesn't render shit over the horizon past walls and whatnot at full LOD quality, we might at least get a good dungeon crawl out of it. But I aint holding my breath, and I was the first winner of the Gamespot Pawn AI challenge by proving that a pawn CAN in fact be taught to roll out of the way of Death's scythe effectively, contrary to every other muppet out there.

Honestly all I want is an Ai party training simulator aRPG.

RIP DD. It's been a blast.

This would not fix anything that is a problem with the game. I want them to add more difficulties/NG+ stuff, more armour/weapon customization and dungeons before they even approach multiplayer, the game is too easy and is a straight line to the finish if you had 4 players.

Drake of 99 dragons at home

Dragon's Dogma sucked on release, too.
It required an expansion.
Dragon's Dogma 2 somehow managed to take a step back not just once but twice, by being shittier than the original Dragon's Dogma game was. Not even taking in to account Dark Arisen's improvements.
since Itsuno quit and the re engine is just fundamentally a shitty engine DD2 is unlikely to get fixed up later

Makes sense as to why it was so laughably bad.

The pawns in general is something of wasted potential. There is a lot they could do with that

add more cosmetic options, like armour color swappers, more layers and doodads to attatch to your pawns to make them unique. The whole point is to share unique characters, but it seems like people make more unique characters in fucking Soul Calibur character creation etc

no enemy pawns, couldve had other players pawns showing up in players worlds as enemy types

no pawn fight club like in Shadow of War where its just a silly pass time where other players throw their retard into a pit and see if they can hold their own against enemies, or other players

And spoiler for the end of DD2
Its implied that pawns become dragons at the end of the world, but this LITERALLY only happens at the very end, why the fuck is this not something that happens during the game, where pawns can freak out and become monsters, making for interesting encounters, all we get is dragon-aids which is cool the first time, but has no gameplay to engage with at all, its just "did you notice this? Oh you didnt? LOL". This really shouldve been that if you didnt notice it the pawn turns into a fucking dragon in town and you fight them.

Itsuno wasn't the director of Dark Arisen though. I mean I aint holding my breath as I said, but it wouldn't be the first time a new director comes in and renders a a classic down from Itsuno's messy genius pile. Catch is this is Capcom we are talking about and all they acre about is Monster Fluffer: 1500 Dollars of DLC Edition.

They said they consider it a working IP, but I just dont believe it considering they have done nothing with the game since launch. Look how much DLC Capcoms games get post launch, DD2 got literally nothing, not one thing, this is a sign that they are not working on the game, and it was as soon as it released.

They put out a survey when the game came out and it asked a lot of very hope inspirint questions for DDs future, but it seems they completely ignored it.

everyone asks for more diffiuculties

they added a casual mode

The cope is that they are holding onto all this content so they have a lot to package in the "DDDA2" version of the game, but if this was the case they have let DD2 languish so hard that I dont think if this theoretical DDDA2 was to come out I dont think people are going to care if its good or not, they have moved on. DD2 is not in public conciousness at all, how they expect to shadow drop a fucking expansion for it, I just dont think they are working on anything.

all those gates around the world that were suggested to be dungeon entrances

There was clearly something intended with these, but they never got to it and now there is just hallways that end with nothing but these gates around the game. All priority is with MHW now, if DD2 was getting any content it wouldve been this year, which it obviously wouldnt do, and if its next year it doesnt stand a chance. DD is dead, DD2 killed it by being so incredibly average.

Thats the dragon-aids I was refering to. That shouldve been the sign that the pawn was going to turn. There is no gameplay engagement from the mechanic as it is, you just notice it, brine them/dont take them, and carry on. Couldve been neat to have enemy pawns, infact, before finishing the game and encountering this, I assumed that was what was going to happen, like I was going to have to fight other peoples pawns or my own, instead it was nothing.

Multiplayer always fixes everything.
Shit games are enjoyable as long as you have a friend to share the shittiness with.
You do have friends, right?

The one mechanical change I am actually salty over is the simplification of the clothing/armour system. That's one thing no DLC can fix unless they rewrite the entire mess, which aint happening. Mind you, if there will ever be a nun's, or mods of it outfit, I'll be forever happy. See, you start off with teh Princess costume, then realize it's gay and start putting together a set. Then you end up in BBI and you realize that getting one shot isn't down to armou points, but resistences. And then you start flying around because your weight is now always very light. This is when sorcerers attain Godhood.

Oh, and in case anyone is looking for a low level pawn, I have a new babe in the works. No death rolls yet, and at this level they are still a bit derpy, but she'll be the best in the Nexus at her level by far. Any issues like missing equipment, let me know, I can't remember if I upgraded her staff yet. Or if I have it in my other account's inventory as I want to Dragon forge her shit, but I'm just too burned out on this game, bros...

spoiler

Unironically would be cool and add variety to encounters if there was a non-zero chance of that happening as you travelled.

cinematic 12fps with a 4090 in cities

What a piece of steaming shit

Sekiro runs fine on a gtx970.
DD2 runs alright on a 4090

DD2 is an actual sequel but people didn't really understand the first game so they don't understand the 2nd game either. So many people trying to say NG+ wasn't canon in the first game.

Are scripted podcasts just audiobooks but livestreamed? Who the fuck listens to that shit?

Expansion when?

I have good PC now, but I'm not buying DD2, knowing they're going to release another Dark Arisen or Special Edition without an option for original owners to upgrade/buy DLC.

Forever Anon Babble's humiliation ritual. The situation is so bad you can't even laugh about it because even the jannies got their asshole wrecked by this catastrophic flop so they occasionally ban these threads.

There are almost 3 quarters as many people playing World as Wilds right now, it's dead jim

Bamco executives deserve to be executed for making this. Not in Minecraft, I mean in real life. Line up all the Bamco boomers up the wall and shoot them in the head for killing SoulCalibur, Code Vein 2, Ace Combat 8 but funding this dogshit instead.

Not many people have PCs that can run Wilds it is not surprising.

Why is there still an unnatural amount of hate threads for DD2?
This game must be living rent free in someones head. Then again i've seen similar for a lot of random capcom titles so I'm thinking some autist has grudge.

Yeah it's been one person or a group spamming since launch pretty much

Good reference.

Sure they do. And they hang around and wait for you to post so they can pin your posts in their asscave as an example of trolling genius, too, huh? Or you're some salty halfwit from some random general. It's a real mystery. Meanwhile back in the real world it's a lot more grim than anything you can cook up in your lacklustre furry fansite imagination. The community itself has turned it's back on the IP. Which is far worse. Point being you're unlikely to get much squeezings out of this thread because you're a year too late.

Oh and the Baldur's Homosex Three waiting room for mods that fix the ugly ass manface waifus is that way.

think radio dramas, like The Archers or Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

comic books

novels

radio dramas

web series

What happened to good old "show, don't tell"?
You can build all these into the game, you know?

It's one of the worst gaming purchases I have ever made. I can't think of one memorable quest or character before I dropped the game. Alot of you have very low standards.

I'm glad I'm not a forever outraged nigger like (you)

I blame Gaylo

I know I shouldn't but Gaylo's example of raping the simple and engaging base story and world of the original trilogy with thousands of these off-shoot SLOP media is the most infuriating example for me.

Shitsuno's Dogshit 2

I saw footage of Unknown 9 and I've come to the conclusion that video games are currently going through the same issue comics, specifically anything from Image Comics, is going through.
It's a bunch of really bad writers who couldn't make it in Hollywood, so they wormed their way into video games and only make games so it could be adapted into an HBO series or movie.

And it becomes very annoying if they start referencing to them constantly.

dd2 hate threads should become a general on vg, every single day there's one that gets hundreds of replies

Loved that game at the time. Would have no chance now. Sad.

That's because I (and many other anons) are still fucking mad.

Why do you need to lie about DMC to build up your retard propaganda
Free PR tip- just focus on DD, it'll make you look better

You mean fun for a week, and you never play it again, sure. That does not fix the game anon, I want the game fixed not to be played through once and then never played again.

Has crapcom made a good game over the last 10+ years?

I dont even think people dont understand it, DD2 was not the game to do it. People wanted a sequel that improves and expands on DD1, what they got was a meta game about DD1s story, BUT ADDS FUCKING NOTHING.

Nigga I wanted DD but better, not a soft reboot where there "reboot" part is part of the narrative, like, its inentional that its just DD1 but worse, like, its still fucking worse though. That was cool on paper, in practice we have a game that barely evolved from the first game, by design. Its bad, on purpose.
