Make critically acclaimed indie game

make critically acclaimed indie game

literally nobody knows your game because people only think of it as "the dunkey game"

lmao

name*

monkey paw ass publisher

this game is like if somebody made a demake of ori games with no combat and more puzzle stuff
decent game non the less

Ori 2 was worse for having more focus on combat.

Will Dunkey publish a new game instead of that old game he dug up from 2017?

that says more about how zoomers are just mongoloids addicted to eceleb garbage instead of just playing games

That is why you should always publish your indie games yourself, if they're actually good.

zoomers

Born Jason Gastrow

January 30, 1991 (age 34)

who? i'm guessing you're talking about the publisher eceleb guy, i wouldn't even know who that is without you tards constantly bringing it up in these threads
but how does bringing up the guy's age have anything to do with his audience being zoomers? you're so low iq you have negative reading comprehension
this whole board has fucking brain damage

1991

34

Damn...

I totally don't know this guy, which is why I'm seething about him ITT

he isn't actually a zoomer? w-well that doesn't count

Thanks for conceding.

fuck you, ori 2 good and combat was really well made
just upgrade it

Metroidvanias shouldn't be aRPGs.
Absolutely makes sense they made a failed shitty diablo clone afterwards

dunkey

what?

The cat chase segment was peak retard indie design

He didn't say dunkey was a zoomer you fucking mongoloid

he

You already conceded, pretending to be someone else defending you is just pathetic. No more (you)s
Remember to actually leave the thread since you hate zoomers and e-celebs so much, rather than showing how much you care by replying

The problem with Animal Well is unironically the post game ARG shit. It kind of didn't sit well with almost anyone outside of discordfags.
Most people agree that the game was great. And then they still walk away feeling bad about the game.

Forever associated with Roachsoftware kek.

You're a brain damaged illiterate zoomer. Work on improving yourself.

Nobody gives a shit about game critics anymore. If anything their praise makes us doubtful.

It's crazy how often that happens. Not usually with dumb ARGs of course but stuff like the final level or boss being absolute dogshit. It's like devs run out of ideas and then still decide to put in one last thing

can you give me the rundown? I was thinking of giving it a try, but I won't bother if the ending is shit or tied to some creepypasta BS outside the game

Metroidvanias shouldn't be aRPGs.

no rules only tools
shut it, both platforming and combat were tight.
also trust the plan, nrftw will work out

I played Ori and the Will of the Wisps for about an hour before I got addicted to another game, will continue it after I finish that game
Can you max all skills or do I need to pick and choose? I picked the big heavy attack at the start cause it also breaks floors

critically acclaimed

oh journos said it's good, wow it must be amazing!
lmao

Who and who?
You sure you aren't just a faggot OP?

Did anyone even play Star of Providence? I liked it but it seems no ones talking about it.

Yeah it always got recommended in every Steam sale thread

i think you can max it out if you pick all the power up stones and farm a little

everyone played it years ago when it was still called Monolith

I didn't like the latest big update. a lot of things that were fun, like stacking damage boosts or enjoying triple damage in lethal game mode, simply got nerfed.
wondering if maybe there's a way to mod the game to ignore the nerfs, because it still is a great game

can you give me the rundown? I was thinking of giving it a try

Well. In truth the post-game genuinely has some of the best contents of the game. At least for the first third~ or so of the post-game. It really expands upon the base game concepts and really falls into its own there. It's great.
But. And I'll just surface level spoil this right here and now. At some point in the post-game you'll run into puzzles that are deliberately designed to NOT BE SOLVABLE on your own. Like you don't actually get the puzzle pieces necessary to complete the puzzle within your own game/save file. Meaning that you either start a New Game like a couple of hundred times straight and note down the differences each time and hope you got the correct pieces of information, or you join some discordshit or whatever the fuck and collab with others. But others have obviously already solved the puzzles so there is nothing for you to solve.
And the best part? The game doesn't make it clear that you need other people to solve the game. So if you didn't you'd probably spend X amount of hours hopelessly searching for an answer until you'd inevitably give up.

So that shit kind of sucks. But everything else is great.

single-player roguelite game

BUT WE HAVE TO BALANCE IT YOU CAN'T BE TOO OP

Why are devs like this

thanks for the warning. guess I'll pirate it and be ready to look that up when I'm stumped in the postgame

idk but it's fucking aids.
stacking damage wasn't even broken to begin with, anyway. and the super lethal mode was a ton of fun and my preferred way to play, but I guess that the devs decided that no fun was allowed

I get fixing things that make you overpowered too easily so it isn't just "Oh I found these two common items right at the start of the game and now I'm literally unkillable" but I hate CHEW SLOWER shit.
I've never played that game in particular so I don't know what constitutes being overpowered in that context but still.

You need to have some measure of balance or the game becomes boring. Either one strategy becomes dominant, or whatever you pick the game is trivially easy. Nerfs are necessary, it's just a delicate tightrope that people sometimes fuck up.

The fun of Binding of Isaac was all the overpowered item combinations, who gives a fuck if people stop playing your game once they figure out the OP run? Do you really need to string them along for another 150 hours?

i finished the game literally yesterday so i'd like to add this:

the "main" game (95% of the content, layer 1 and 2) is solvable by your own without any guides in around 15 hours, so you should base your decision around that. it's a fun lil puzzle/skill-based metroidvania, nothing groundbreaking.

the last 5% can't be done on your own (for the most part) and at there's no point of doing it on your own nowadays since the whole point of this was to be a discord hunt. so you can just look at a walkthrough and do the rest of the game in 2 more hours in order to see the whole content, but again, you don't really need to. the game ends twice in the main part, the rest is like a secret for autistis.

for comparison, remember the meta puzzles in fez, it's something like that but with an actual ending

At some point in the post-game you'll run into puzzles

singular.
there's is a single puzzle like that.
to be honest, the game is purposely designed in very distinct layers
layer 1 is normal, everyday game that everyone can beat
layer 2 is a collectathon for Easter eggs and it's still very doable with no guides but it requires thorough exploration
layer 3 is where the actual autism start and where the aforementioned ARG puzzle is
layer 4 is autismus maximum and basically required people to open up the game file in hex editors and shit

keep in mind that by the end of layer 2, you'd have explored and seen 99.99% of the map, i'd say that's the optimal stopping point

i think it's an excellent game.
the extra super hidden stuff don't even add anything interesting besides a cheat mode and an audiolog from the dev and dunkey
