Most phone games once you play long enough to see through the good parts (visuals, story, fanservice, gameplay) and start seeing the game as the bare minimum components required to progress (dailies, cheesing events, using skips/auto, recognizing only 10% of the characters/equipment actually matter).
Every video game except Nethack and Angband.
Valheim when the latest update was mistlands
Bravely Default
Warframe when you need to craft the mechsuit

mass effect franchise
Dark Souls 1
Elden Ring
Dragon's Dogma 2
Assassin's Creed Black Flag
I can't say I fully agree, but you're onto something here: Valheim's first 3-4 areas/biomes are absolute gaming kino, looks amazing and has an excellent and exciting sense of exploration... I won't say that Mistlands was a shower of liquid shit but suddenly all the joy of surveying is gone like tears in the rain because you can't see shit and have to build pic related literally everywhere to even move around... Ashlands wasn't quite as bad because at least you weren't Stevie Wonder in there but Ashlands had its own problems. I'm really not hopeful about the last area, whatever it will be.
PC ports of Snoy exclusives
Any modern gacha game is when you play on a “failed” account without investing money.
Soulstice. If you played it you know exactly where it goes to shit.
KCD, mostly for the combat system. When you first start it feels like you just suck because Henry has not learned how to fight, and you gradually learn how to riposte, dodge, etc. Eventually you are introduced to master strikes, which is just blocking very fast when someone attacks. It's a perfect parry that can't be defended against, and will automatically fuck up whoever you're righting. Enemies use it too non-stop. So when you get to the end of the game, the only winning strategy is to just stand still and wait for the opponent to attack, since if you attack you'll get master strike'd, or put them in a clinch and then exploit that the game doesn't let them block after a clinch. There is absolutely no strategy whatsoever, it's just a waiting game or facerolling. A complete noob could solo any enemy in the game and win, it's retarded.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Warframe when you need to craft the mechsuit
Or whenever you get stuck into unenjoyable grinds, like Citrine's or coda lich ephemera

She is. You can wash off the shit just fine.
This. Loved all the their games but Pyre was kind of hard to get through.
