Helldivers 2

The new update has been very good

democracy.webm - 853x480, 2.78M

Holy based. Total squigger DEATH.

haven't played for a year

see people talking about how tough the urban maps are

accidentally load into helldiver difficulty, never even played against illuminate before

it's still way easier than helldiver diff bots

???
I'd love to have city fights vs bots though

squids just stand around letting you kill them

why does this only happen to other people

I really wanna play this game but is it true or can destroy your PC components and shit?

Super Earth megacities are disappointing. I expected they'd be denser and the streets/buildings would look better.

The fuck it is. Squid enemies are still going through walls or buildings and can hit you from below or suddenly pop up in front of you. Leviathans are also rather annoying on the defense missions.

Yes

I'd love to have city fights vs bots though

they're apparently adding mega cities to other planets so that'll likely happen in the future

Mega cities against bugs

Oh boy all the choke points will make for some great barbeque avenues.

sudden malevelon megacity would be nice

As someone who plays on 10 my experience has been

Map 1 of 3 for operation

Crickets.mp3, literally had to make sure I didn't put the difficulty on 5 or something

End mission with 90 kills

Map 2 of 3

[EDF_voice_callout]- AAAAHHHHH!!!! HELP ME!!!!, (while reenacting the cover of classic Doom but with squid heavy infantry instead of Imps swarming)

End mission with 600+ kills

Mission 3 of operation

Quiet, the occasional wave of enemies, then back to nothing

200 kills

I can only assume the patrols having something other than players to distract them causes much longer intervals between patrols spawning and immediately walking to where you are.

I still don't know how to deal with the new illuminate monster

Sure, why not.

their main counter is gas. bring some grenades and set your machine gun's RPM to max

The WASP takes care pretty much all illuminate problems. Never used it a single time before now, though. I still need to figure out what the artillery mode is useful for. Seems the normal burst mode always does the job.

The fleshblob one? Unironically shoot it until it dies.

shoot all the glowy bits either on the front or the back

Democrat protects

Stacking DoT's seems to work fine on them. Also has the benefit of clearing out everything else nearby as well.

what does the flag do?

The artillery mode is worthless from my experience. Burst mode is superior all around.

Favorite primary weapons with the new update?
I like the Reprimand for horde clearing and the Purifier for Overseer hunting

So what's the cope for the Illuminid being the "lesser evil" again? I know fags say that Automatons being evil pieces of shit is fine because they were less evil in the first game but there's no way people excuse the squids raising the dead for shock troopers right?

Stalwart as my primary, obviously.

How is the social aspect of this game?

Breaker for Voteless and Stalwart for everything else.

Those illumanid are all dead and these are the warriors that left. Basically every "better than super earth" faction turned into the very thing super earth claimed they originally were, mostly because of super earth

I practically never encounter people using the mic, and only if I start chatting first people open up. There's some jokes in the text chat.
The tagging/map marker system works well for achieving and objectives and at least on the harder difficulties the players are competent enough that you rarely lose due to total incompetence.

Big battery Scythe can burn through a lot of enemies, and the reduction in mags hardly matter because it's burn time is so long.

It's the secondary Stun Spear except it takes a stratagem slot and you can plant it in the ground or in the head of a dead democracy hater.

It's dogshit, but it's "fun". In theory you could use it with the ballistic shield, so you could have a melee weapon+one handed primary ie; SMG or explosive crossbow+secondary ie; Senator or Laser Senator, but that is still a pretty shitty use of a strat weapon slot.

Update is fine, but is it me or the city graphics are really shitty?

I never thought HD2 looked bad until now, everything looks flat

Termanids were always the same vicious galaxy swarmers, SE just farmed them for resources

Cybrogs were always tech cultists that wanted to skin innocent civvies, now the Automatons are just going full borg.

Illuminid likely was always doing shit like raising the dead of their enemies to fight for them, SE just refused to listen to their bullshit and knew they had to go

There's not a single objective reason to say ANY of the other factions are better than Super Earth.

They're ugly as sin and the buildings cause unnecessary glitches while overring no unique gameplay opportunities in return
Cities are completely underbaked compared to what the game offers on simple rocks+vegetation maps

Of the 3, I think the Illuminate really were technically peaceful, but SE was afraid of the highly advanced alien species who they thought had WMDs...and they eventually DID have WMDs that they produced just to fight SE. A bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy with that one.

good, it's pure co-op and it's very comedic so you'll rarely run into people who seethe over losing/getting teamkilled. People rarely talk over the mic but the ping system is good so coordinating with randoms isn't difficult. The kick system is very lenient (getting kicked just turns you into the host of your own lobby) so you're not at risk of getting griefed by the host right before a mission ends.

Helldivers 2 managed to make a genuine UNSC Marine/ODST experience before Halo ever bothered to

I just wish there was a way to back out of lobbies if I'm the host since I always feel like an ass for kicking players when I just want to get a fresh lobby.

Breaker actually does surprisingly well against overseers too at close range. That gives a nice overlap with your wasp and covers most bases. Then I use all sentries after that. Being able to lock a whole flank down is great and airstrikes seem a bit wasted on squids.

There's not a single objective reason to say ANY of the other factions are better than Super Earth.

And why would anyone do that in the first place?
We fight for Super Earth.
Our home.
Our future.

MY LIFE FOR SUPER EARTH

Was telling my buddy the exact same thing. It's crazy they just stuck with firefight. Hope marathon fails and bungo never makes anything again

I'm pretty sure they "optimized" all the details out of everything because of consoles.

When are they allowing people from nearby countries to purchase the game?

The Spray n' Pray gets better with the full choke and a foregrip to better control it's spread. Suddenly you're popping heads at a reasonable distance that even marauders can get their robotic domes done in with it. Loses it's crowd control abilities somewhat but that's an acceptable trade off I think. Also the smaller mags strangely enough also help it when it's no longer got Doom 3 shotgun accuracy.

What's this about?
I vaguely remember hearing about it a year ago, did they ever fix that?

This but 40K Kill Team

Illuminate in 1 weren't evil, Super Earth claimed they were creating WMDs and went to war to steal their technology. In 2, they're definitely evil, but they're basically a monster of Super Earth's making. They were a wise, peaceful race of squids until they got genocided, now they've devolved into a cultist warrior race that's boosting its numbers by any means necessary

In Slopdivers 1 it was intentionally ambiguous, like yeah the borgs were technically not doing anything wrong and the victims of a war of aggression... But they were also gore-covered Strogg expys with an extremely brutal society. You could argue that it was 100% ethically correct to invade the nation that had piles of human corpses being tied up as decorations on their vehicles.

2 however has each faction basically being a direct consequence of how Super Earth dealt with the factions they defeated. Instead of integrating the Borgs and showing them the value of FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY, they were enslaved and put in work camps until their "children" returned, bugs were basically industrially farmed to be as big and aggressive as possible instead of having them bred to be domesticated and docile, (or at the very least not as dangerous), because bigger stronger bugs=more bug juice, Illuminate same deal as the Borgs, instead of being treated fairly after the war, (or even just thoroughly genocided), they get diaspora'd and given time to recover for round 2

turn in-game music off

solo drop into super earth

play Deference for Darkness

starts to rain a half a minute into the song

it was perfect.

Is this that game where the devs kept nerfing everything so you barely did any damage and could only run around?

I gave up on the game last year when they ruined the difficulty. I decided to give it another shot yesterday since Super Earth is finally under attack. First time playing against the Illuminate, on Super Helldive to boot, and it was even easier than before. The fuck is going on?

I'm hyped, not just because I think it's fuckin awesome. Im hyped because it means they will have to name all of these mega cities. Can't wait to see the democratic names. Also hoping this means we will get a really cool unique biome for places like Cyberstan.

I'm calling bullshit. Just because SE hit first doesn't magically make the squids good. If we take their HD1 mechanics into mind they still had forms of mind control since they can flip your controls and shit. It's like people that make excuses for mutants in marvel comics or something. Just because humans hit first doesn't mean Illuminid weren't the bigger threat in the conflict.

Either pop all but like 2 of the heads, shoot it until it dies, burn them, or break their legs. A single EAT to the leg will kill one, from my experience.

Yes. They legitimately almost killed the game at that point. It was straight up not fun. Thankfully they reversed those dumbass changes and the game has never been better imo

man, I have never seen a clip from this game that doesn't look like complete jank, the shit lighting engine, the "le wacky" physics, the terrible animations. you just cannot make this game look good.

b-but the heckin gameplay!!!!!

looks really fucking stupid when 90% of clips are just explosions ragdolling the player. I swear the only people into this don't actually play "games", they play toyboxes, like fucking powerwash sim, or viscera cleanup detail. They don't want a game where they have to think or put effort in, they want a distraction from their miserable lives, so they load up some simple skinnerbox garbage like this, giggle at the flashing lights and sounds, and stave off suicide for one more day

You sound like an annoying bitch. I hope you die soon!

An apt way to put my own thoughts into words. It's a shame because it used to be so much better.

they just stand there while you poke them

Riviting

powerwash sim is comfy thoughbeit

Is this game still pay 2 win?
As in all the meta weapons are locked behind war bonds ?

Have they either buffed the jetpack or given us a non-shit jetpack yet? If not I'll just keep waiting.

yes

load up Super Earth mission for the first time

see tall buildings and streets littered with cars, fleeing civilians and entrenched SEAF.

Buildings have bright, colorful screens that display advertisements or public alert broadcasts

see one of those flying worm or centipede looking ships, it smacks into a building. The building shatters and crumbles (doesn't collapse though) all color has been drained from it

friend accidentally set this mission to Impossible, and the objective is to take down an overship

we get the defense cannon running, but the area is so saturated with enemies, we can't aim it

we held out for so long that every building is shattered and gray, no bright neon signs, just the apocalypse

reminded me of Mass Effect 3

No the basic bitch gear you get for free is enough to easily win Helldive missions
