Why does a game that is promoting itself as difficult need to be more accessible? We all know all of you people aren't going to complete the game anyway. Do you want the completion percentage to be even lower?

It personally makes no difference to me. I view these new difficulty levels the same way I view subtitles and color blind settings. Great for those who want them but I'm not going to go anywhere near them. Just let folks be folks, folk.

Dark Souls bark is much more worse than it's bite. (Though Dark Souls 1 is still a difficult game for a first time gamer, just compare it to slop like Ocarina of Time)

Yet the devs still felt the need to add it anyways.

The last boss is kind of insane, it's fine.

So long as the hardest difficulty is the one with the most balance and thought put into it, and the easier options are the tacked on ones, then I don’t care.

Difficulty options make beating the game feel pointless. If you can just adjust out the parts you're bad at, then it means you never actually beat anything and it ruins any satisfaction you can get from a game. At a certain point, there's no point even bothering to play the game. You might as well just watch a show or movie. You're not engaging any part of your brain and just mindlessly consuming something because you feel the need to. Games are at their best when they make you feel as though you mastered the gameplay after some challenge, like the original Dark Souls, but not by devolving into constant trial and error like it's a stupid Cat Mario clone, like ER DLC. It also prevents the game from having to be balanced properly as the devs can use the difficulty options as a crutch in the future. There's no valid reason that games need to be more accessible. If you're disabled, guess what? You can't do a lot of things. If you can't ride a bike, it doesn't mean that you should be allowed to bring an ATV or car through a bike path. If you suck ass at games, then maybe try some easier ones or perhaps you're not good at that genre. More than likely, this shit is just made for journalists so that they can pump out more 10/10 review scores, but more than anything you should never make a game for those retards. A game for a journalist is a movie game. Gaming is already fucking dying, don't throw gas on it by ruining every new release by being unable to balance the difficulty. It's bad enough that we lost the ability to optimize games, make interactable environments, use physics in interesting ways, or simply not have everything be a fucking live service.

way I see it, if a game must have difficulty options, the difficulty options should have descriptions explaining them so we know which one is true to the original vision of the game.
examples:
Intravenous 2 had a difficulty called "true" which had a description that literally went
"true to the original vision of the game. won't be easy" but still had one harder difficulty which did its job, harder even if unbalanced
Sifu had a difficulty called Disciple which had a similar description as well, it was the intended way to play but still had an easier and harder option, and so on

It's fine as long as the game is designed around the hardest difficulty. Lower difficulty can just increase damage given and decrease damage received. Basically, they need to do the inverse of what the average game does.
