no romance
protag is non-silent and can't be self inserted
no endgame challenge modes or free roam
no postgame content to grind
side characters are annoying and talk too much
is called a JRPG for no reason
combat is a ripoff of paper mario
Just off the top of my head
It insists upon itself
>no romance
there literally is
>protag is non-silent and can't be self inserted
not a negative
>no endgame challenge modes or free roam
not true
>no postgame content to grind
not true
>side characters are annoying and talk too much
not true
>is called a JRPG for no reason
you know why. JRPG is a genre, not just the origin of the developer
>combat is a ripoff of paper mario
It takes influence but is vastly improved
"Hmm, I better make up some easily disproven shit. Don't want to fit in."
Oh shit is there actually a postgame to do? I was under the impression it was a one and done when you see the credits. Educate me, anon.
the only flaw is the pacing in act 3
apart from that it is a genuine masterpiece
No raunchy Lune sex scene -- rule34.xxx
Nigga, Act 3 is literally one fight and the rest is all end/postgame content
>no romance
Why do you care about dating sim nonsense? Iz you a bitch?
no!!!!! i heard it was better and probaly will win game of the year
The combat

Yes
Educate me, anon.
NTA, but did you not bother flying around the map once you unlocked that ability? No Challenge Tower? No Clea Fight? No Simon?
Surely you're just being obtuse to the sake of being argumentative and hearing your own voice; you know for a fact you're wrong.
Also, complaining about a lack of self-insert is the lamest thing you say. Go watch Solo Leveling with the other self-inserting losers.
How are those Metaphor sales doing? Was it worth owning le chuds by making your protag a celibate femboy?
UE5
It looks really blurry all the time.
Is that an actual issue with the game or is it my settings or something? I feel like it's the game because most of the screenshots posted on here are the same
Generic artsyle and generic gameplay
Time to leave your house and talk to an actual woman, incel-kun.
they havent released these plushies yet
yeah the weapon scaling system is fucking dogshit and some weapons are just arbitrarily better or worse than others. why would they make it so that two weapons of the same level and same scaling get different amounts of bonus damage? fucking fr*nch
I didn't play the game. I was interested but got baited apparently by Anon Babble saying it was 5 hour story slop with no content after credits. I should have known better.
I have no idea what you're talking about there. But I'll take it that you are in fact a bitch who likes to play out tender little romances in her games.
Sir.
bro they haven't even restocked the game since the first week of launch. It's sold out everywhere $100+ on ebay lmao
Lune has no twin
Unironically 10/10 in terms of overall experience. But act 3 balance is fucked. If you don't bum rush the final area immediately you'll become vastly over leveled and one shot everyone.
Yes it’s entirely made from asset store 3Ds, the characters are from UE character maker and the programming was done with UE blueprint.
AKA a asset flip game
if only they did a physical release for PC, console discs are worthless when the console itself is bricked when the servers go offline
Not PS5, you're thinking of Xbox and Switch 2
It's a 10/10 but:
Hair artifacts and smearing was very distracting. I hope they fix it in an update.
The parry/dodge/jump/weird parry was frustrating 5% of the game, 85% of the game fun and challenging, 10% it got too easy.
some of the nevron attack sequences they just stood there and I'm thinking "just slash its fucking throat if its just going to stand there for 3 seconds wide open"
Act one was slightly girl bossy. I didn't think it was bad, but I could understand if someone who suffers from CCF if they didn't like it
None. It is the Ulysses of video games.
Some pictos are vaguely worded, no way to track buffs so you can easily tell what is working and what isn't, some pictos seem to not work as intended or again, wording is ambiguous
game is extremely susceptible to cheese, but a principled player can ignore this
That's about all I can think of, it really is a flawless game in many ways
because the passives of weapons can massively influence your damage you dumb fucking dog
There's a weapon that lets you attack twice every turn even on top of cheater, so obviously it has to deal less damage than most weapons
My 3 biggest complains
Too short
Too easy
The game desesperately needs a 6th character
Too short
it's ~30 hours normal playthrough and ~70 if you do everything
That's not too short
Too easy
Just pick expert lmao, wtf
The game desesperately needs a 6th character
You must always feel the loss of Gustave, that place must never be filled, so on your reserve team there must be an open slot
Frog aesthetic
Act 3 breaks the game mechanically and if you have half a brain you will quite literally oneshot every single enemy including all super bosses in one ability on the hardest difficulty. Which is sad because they usually have banger themes or interesting gimmicks
Expert is still too easy. Parrying trivializes everything. Death has no punishment besides a reload. You can break the game as soon as you get sciel.
It's ~30 hours normal playthrough and ~70 if you do everything That's not too short
It is, most of the good JRPGs are waaay longer
Just pick expert lmao, wtf
I played expert, the game is too easy, the superbosses are a meme
You must always feel the loss of Gustave, that place must never be filled, so on your reserve team there must be an open slot
Stupid idea, the story does a perfect job of making you miss him, the party needs a 6th member
Does it have any flaws?
It ends.
My only complaint is the balance near the end game but that was because of my own actions
do absolutely everything before the final fight
I burp on the final boss, he dies
sixth character
They should have just brought back Gustave along with Sciel and Lune.
im level 85 is there a better spot to grind than dark shores im getting tired of hitting mr hands with phantom stars they couldnt put a french version of metal slimes in this bitch
Yeah act 3 is too unbalanced so you defeat bosses too easily and traversing/walking around has that cheap UE jank feel. Other than that its pretty great
Only one here is sorta true though. Nice head cannon anon.
Renoir's Drafts
I was thinking about this today. The pacing of act 3 is terrible but other than that I can't think of negatives, just performance issues here and there
The biggest flaw is how easily you can ruin your experience fighting the final boss by doing the side content once act 3 starts. They should have kept the damage cap in place for the final battle
Awful art direction. Wet muddy rocks and atmospheric fog that's tiring to look at.
Bad title. I don't know what's the actual title and what's the subtitle.
They could have given Reinor the power to break all your overpowered pictos once the battle starts. Would have solved this.
Some Nevrons have attacks that are really fucking aggravating, the twin sword Nevron for example literally makes you wait for it to charge up its swords three times, then it gives its allies Rage so it can fucking do it again.
The balance of difficulty can be comically all over the place depending on what random direction you decide to explore. Some random sub-boss palette swap giant on the overworld map would take me twenty minutes to chip away at, and then the final boss could be wrapped up in like two rounds.
I didn't love the ending. I feel like for the sake of a tragic ultimatum final choice about grief, they fail to give resolution to Lumiere and the plight of the expeditions in the same way that they do for the painters.
Beyond that, I enjoyed it a lot.
Probably many. I'll never know, I'm not going to play it.
bounces on you 20 times in a row with varying speeds
No Japanese dub.
Is parry timing the same or is it tighter on highest difficulty?
-Unreal engine 5.
-Looks and runs worse than way more complex games from 10+ years ago.
-fuzzy low quality visuals full of glitchy artifacts and vaseline smear.
-hair looks like pixelated dogshit, so do shadows.
-really bad ghosting artifacts
-garbage animations, really bad key poses, clipping, footsliding, awkward snapping
-idiotic and pretentious story that undermines itself.
-shader stutter
-bad pop in. poor LOD management. garbage texture streaming
-garbage level scaling, you become OP and start killing enemies before you even see their attacks.
Attack QTEs were completely pointless. I perfected 99.9% of every one I did, and for the very few I didn't, all I missed out on was a negligible amount of damage easily made up shortly thereafter
the weapons having a "power level" tied to them like it's some sort of console slop or mobile game wasn't that interesting. I know that shit like dragon quest mostly has weapons that have more damage than one another but it just doesn't feel as good getting an upgrade in 33 as it does in DQ for me
literally redd!t writing, faggy male protagonists, stronk independent female protagonists, awkward tonal shifts, uncanny valley cutscenes where characters don't blink
100/10 organic (((GOTY))) masterpiss, but everyone that disagrees is a tendie shill thirdy brownoid FF7R Atlus anti-shill
The game menu has the most fire banger song, preventing me from playing the game without listening it to completion
Oh sure. But they're relatively minor nitpicks in the grand scheme of things.
Flaw #1: Unoptimized UE5 bullshit. It takes a lot of tweaking to get this game not looking like a blurry pile of shit (although, thankfully, you can), and even then, the framerate's not stellar even on higher-tier cards. And if you ask me, they need to tone down the fog by about 60% or so. Shit's way more washed-out than it needs to be and weakens the amazing art style.
Flaw #2: Poor out-of-combat menus. E33 uses the entirely-too-overdone "modern game UX" where everything is just squares and diamonds with boring white outlines. With the amount of time you spend swapping pictos and shit, it gets really fucking boring to look at. A shame for a game that so obviously draws heavy inspiration from the Persona series.
Flaw #3: General QoL annoyances. You can't save manually, there's no way to save ability loadouts, no minimap, audio cues for parries are the tiniest bit inconsistent sometimes, etc.
These are the kind of things they could fix with patches, or fans could fix with mods, and I hope they do.
But yeah, overall a very good game. Feels like the first real video game I've played in years.
Yeah that's another thing. Attacking in this game is garbage.
these are low quality QTEs. randomly placed prompts and don't line up with your hits like real action commands do.
this game has worse interaction than mario RPG. a literal snes game.
parrying is the only saving grace of the combat.
Does it run well on steam deck?
Hey now for some of the attacks you have to press the qte twice in a row really fast Mario RPG never had that now did it
Mario and Luigi did, it also changed how certain attacks functioned based on success or failure
