The nightlords are the least fun part of this game. Collecting resources in a time attack format is fun but the final boss is just a game of circling around forever to res your teammate and hitting it for 1/10000 of it's healthbar.

Every character has a few relics like that which edit their skill/ultimate and make them much stronger. You can get the traits from random stuff, but you're guaranteed to get them in the store and from doing their memory quests. It really feels like you're supposed to not even bother with the random relics because the guaranteed relics from Nightlords and quests are the best ones for each slot 90% of the time.

I played with random people on the first day and people had no idea how to play and it wasn't that fun, but few days later people started to stick together and defeat bosses and locations that weren't out of their league and gradually level up, find gear that fit their character and the nightlord.
Basically, the complaints about playing with randoms boils down to players initially being bad at the game and having no idea what to do.
Of course with friends/voice chat it's easier initially but eventually once most players are on the same skill/knowledge level, it's not as necessary anymore as before.

There's probably a shield that can block whatever the dragon's breath counts as (magic?). Executor is allowed to deflect it so I'm sure Guardian has something that can block it.

guardian feels flawed from the ground up
he's meant to be a tank but enemies prioritize the guy doing the most damage (not fucking you)
his giga block is okay but it's not broken by any stretch and you can still get dead-angled by aoes, especially against nightlords
his ult is good but his ability is weird and feels like it doesn't fit with his theme

There is a stone that allows you to get aggro when blocking. I never seen it working on bosses though, like most things in this game.

I've had fun with randos in vermintide 2. Nightrein would also be fun if it was balanced and had better matchmaking. But like all japanese devs they are a decade behind in online tech.

Day 1 it doesn't matter if you split up or stick together but you really should be prioritizing your personal objectives for that round. Don't be surprised if your Recluse ditches you for a fort or high-rise because thats where her staves and magical buffs are.

For the record, character specific abilities can roll on the generic relics, so if you were lucky enough you could get character ability+some useful other stats which might end up better than the remembrance ones. Heck you can even buy some really good ones after killing 4 nightlords.

This, the second I got past the first forced mission vs gladius, everyone got significantly better.

It's ok but the final bosses are way overtuned, typical of From these days. They're so fast by the time you get an attack out they're gone. And there really needed to be more than one map, I guess there sort of is but not sure why they're not completely different

I've seen a couple blue staves with pebble, recluse has S in faith too so incantations are also good to use on her.

Yeah, I mentioned those, though I guess it was unclear. You can get them in other slot types, too, which is nice. It's just that you're more likely going to be using guaranteed relics over randomly-rolled ones, I find, just because they're better and tend to be designed to fit into the specific slots the character has in some of their chalices.

I don't really get the complaints people have about no voice chat. Yeah you'd be more efficient with it but I find that people respond well to pings. Most people don't even want to lead themselves so if you just take action and ping a route then people will follow.

Randoms are better than my real friends at the game in my experience LOL. Additionally, they don't demand to have me speak with them on discord and there's no personal "contests" to see who can claim to be a real elden soulsring gamer™ of the friend group.
I beat the game with randoms with around 80-90% win rate, where as it's like 50% with my friends who suck ass.
The only thing that matter really is that the team grinds enough runes and gear before the night lord, and everyone plays well enough to not die too much.

But this team was usually Recluse/Iron-Eye/Guardian so it's not like we weren't playing on easy mode for most of the game.
