Expedition 33 is written with English primarily. A lot of the lip syncing in cutscenes is also made for English (there are times when it looks off but those are just cause of reasons that come with being a small studio).
If a game is made fully in french then just dubbed in english you'd feel it, trust me. Same as you feel the awkwardness when a japanese game is primarily made in japanese. Then you'd WANT to switch to french.

2 with italian dub was great. I played both ita and eng versions for comparison, former had a bit more charm to it, probably because of the setting, but overall good quality voice acting either way.
The confusion comes from the lipsync being dogshit in either version. Everyone's gonna argue that it feels off in any given language, because it just doesn't sync up to anything in particular.
