Writing wise not really. Zero and azure are pretty good tho, I didn't really like azure finale but overall it's a good arc. Cold steel has way too many problems so I didn't really enjoy it, but i guess falcom understood their target audience with this arc. Daybreak is weird, the first game did try something new and honestly it wasn't bad, fun protagonist and cast traveling around the country to stop le bad guys. The problem is Daybreak 2 and Kai, basically this arc has 3 games already and we still didn't get a payoff. All the questions from the first game aren't answered.

Finished Daybreak 2 not too long ago and it isn't AS bad as I thought it'll be, still a big letdown after the first game. The main plot was all over the place and the time travel mechanic was badly utilized. I honestly enjoyed smaller moments like doing NPC side-quests or the banters between the main cast. Combat was improved and feels less barebones compared to the first game.

Falcom writers are so horrendously averse to having consequences to their plotlines they created a macguffin that lets their characters revert time. Best part is when one of them notices a bomb and lets themselves be blown up because they want to see what it's like to die in an explosion. Even the characters themselves don't take the plot seriously.

Yeah they really overdid it with the number of dead ends, wouldn't be a problem if you as a player could avoid at least 90% of them by doing certain tasks or completing certain side-quests beforehand.

The plot has a slightly different vibe and you can now cheese monsters in open world but lets be honest the Trails cheese is still there. If you didnt like those games I almost guarantee you wont like this arc either.

Sky is being handled by Gungho instead of NISA which is why it is a day 1 global release. If Gungho can promise Falcom that then Falcom will probably drop NISA. It's probably why NISA is busting their ass to get Kai out this year so they may be able to be day 1 with the next game.

Just Sky for now. Nothing announced yet for Proud Nordics, likely because they didn't NISA anything beforehand and were maybe caught by surprise just as much as we did.
I'd expect the future Sky remakes and KX to be global release as well.

You also need to note that falcom gave gungho the script early because the remake's script will be 99% the same as the OG, but with their newly developed games they work on the script and make changes till the game goes gold so they can't give away the script early to NISA.
I heard that NISA and falcom will work more closely from now on, this year we'll finally catch up to japan, so mb Kai 2 might release in the west with the shortest gap.

They confirmed they are doing a different translation though so that's not true, they're making it more accurate to the original Japanese in the remake.

My point still stands tho. Gungho has access to both jp and xseed eng scripts, whether they're editing over xseed translation or translating from the scratch doesn't matter Gungho got the original script early. NISA gets jp script only when falcom is finished with it meaning that NISA has to wait till falcom's game goes gold in Japan.

I enjoyed Kai, but kuro 2 did derail the experience for me. I think my biggest complaint is the wait for the sequel

i didnt despise kai like i did with kuro 2 but i just feel like the vitality of this series has just been totally drained, i felt nothing for 95% of it

well i like kuro cast so kuro 2 didn't really drain me that much, i just hope that kai 2 will be a satisfying finale, because after 3 games of buildups they really need to deliver a satisfying payoff
