Roblox games are accessible even on tablets. My niece (8 years old) was playing the other day, and she had a list of games, chose one, and was immediately inside the game. Most of the children playing are using it as a virtual playground, which is a bit worrying by the way, but I think that as long as children continue to go to real playgrounds, it won't be a problem.

Been playing since 2014 (19 btw) and it's basically a mix of both of these things. Roblox is accessible to literally anybody, so virtually every single kid in recent years has at least made an account on it at some point.
It was originally a kids' game, but due to both it fucking exponentially growing in popularity and due to Roblox's strange ways of dealing with the rampant predatory shit that happens on it, it's also well-known as a feeding ground for pedophiles.
In practice, though, your kid will be fine playing it as long as you forbid them from joining any Discord servers. That's where the real predation happens.

If you're looking for Roblox games with sovl, Boss Fighting Stages is a good fit. It's unfinished and it hasn't aged the best, but it's got that earnest old-school Roblox charm. (The creator's also making a complete, fully remastered of the game to make it up to date with the current Roblox games of today.)
I've also been playing Quest for the Legendary Bloxy Cola. It's literally Paper Mario: TTYD (complete with a Goombella partner), but it's still got a lot of things that make it feel original.
(Also, since Roblox's recommendation system is trash: try out the "better discovery games" game. All the games recommended are voted by the players, so you get less stuff that's algorithmic slop.)
