Why do gamers hate asset recycling so much?
Why do gamers hate asset recycling so much?
efficient
still takes 4 years to make it
dark souls 2 took less than 3 years to make and it had 100% new assets
what went wrong
ER was already a shitty DS3 asset flip. How slow are these fags?
Gamer Entitlement in the big '25. This generation is cooked.
fromshills have no standards whatsoever so they will open their mouths and gargle any diahria that indiasoftware shits out onto their waiting tongues.
couldn't care less about asset flipping specially since that's all fromsoft has been doing since their founding buut asset flipping to make fortnite souls gaas shit is lame. This and duskbloods has marked the death of fromsoft
At least fromdrones can't deny assetflip any more.
fuck off zoom zoom
You say that like Dark Souls 2 isn't the famously half-finished and downgraded, game in the series that had many of its proposed ideas cut.
I mean, I like Dark Souls 2, but I wouldn't use it as an example of wise development choices.
I personally don't care. A rock is a rock. Why waste time making a new one every time.
In that case I suppose they can understand my position, I propose them to reuse 30% of the money I gave them for the first game, sorry man but it's just the only way to make me buy the game.
I never cared about it. MM is an OoT asset flip and still a better game than the original.
I'd rather have the dev work on something productive than have him redo an old animation/model that is completely fine to just import into the new project just for the sake of it.
famously half-finished and downgraded, game in the series that had many of its proposed ideas cut.
no more than any of the others
asset flipping is le good
die
Explain why is it bad
Why would I pay more money to play the same game again?
The game is literally unplayable if it has old door opening animation.
That really isn't true at all.DS2 famously had a terrible development cycle with huge amounts of cut content that put all the others to shame.
Reusing a human skeleton mesh is the exact same as copypasting entire boss fights
Because nintendo released a total conversion mod of their last zelda game, charged full price for it and got away with it.
That's a lie. The maps stack over each other as the developers had to scrap the world design. Environments and lightning from the early trailers and builds looks like a completely different game
It took them 4 years to make a fortnite storm Cloud function over an existing map?
elden ring is a weird game in general. its a dx12 jank fest thats pulling a dozen different driver hacks
the more efficient they are at producing this crap the sooner i get tired of it, so, maybe take your time and make something actually good.
I came back to the game after three years and it still runs like garbage. Fucking baffling that people accept this level of garbage.
Making essentially the same game over and over again is lazy and shows you literally can't make anything else and only care about profits.
i played it on a 1070 back when it came out and i was fine, are you playing it on a toaster or something?
it had 100% new assets
he unironically believes this
I played it on a 2070 super and it ran like garbage. Then I played it on a 4070 super and it ran like slightly polished garbage.
I liked Majora's mask tho.
This.
Anon Babbletards don't realize that by reusing assets like game engines developers can make some truly great stuff because they don't have to spend all their time trying to rebuild the engine.
ER is a CPU bound game, without a decent one it doesn't matter if you have 5090, it'll still get bottlenecked
Isn't this about 30% cheaper than Elden Ring?
post all the assets it reused
If they're reusing the engine, the assets, and the map, what am I paying 40€ for? I already paid for that shit once.
I already paid for that shit once.
more like 5 times
So I guess an i7 9700k is t good enough?
Devs ought to be honest when they do it, as in not try to have any storytelling and just make it a pure game.
This is fine imo, better to recycle than the Rockstar route of taking 13 years to make a game
Utter fucking horseshit
It's interesting how hypocritical everyone is when things like yakuza exist
Low IQ. The only way to stay competitive in today’s market is iterating your assets and ideas into bigger things. Only retards don’t understand that.
Yakuza games are fun and batshit insane but it's also getting real old d2ppt
demon's souls
2 years dev time
dark souls
1.5 years dev time
dark souls 2
2.5 years dev time
nightreign using purely recycled assets
4 years dev time
You're paying the ideas guy to eat
Ever heard of COVID, asshole?
the problem isn't the assets, the prblem is nightreign sucks donkey balls
You could also take the massive amount of money you get from each game and use it to hire more people to make more asset??????
so surely dev times will be shorter now, right?
it only took 14 years to fromsloppers to realize about the shameful asset recycle rollsloppware has being doing always
