How Successful Will This Thing Be?

Nintendo handelds pretty much always succeed but I do think it being a sequal console+the price increase will harm sales somewhat so I'm expecting it to sale around 100-110 million

The software sales will take the biggest hit because casuals aren't paying 70/80usd for more than 3 games

Chdhddhdh_.jpg - 971x1000, 80.68K

NO NEW ZELDA NO BUY

100 million is a fair estimate. Anon Babble troons will pretend that's a flop.

It will definitely do worse than the og switch

Besides hardcores the casuals always have nintendo fatigue every 2 generations

$100 for mario kart krabby land edition

In the longterm its going to do gangbusters. At launch it will sell through its initial stock from scalper alone then see a significant drop leading to a price reduction because normies arent buying a console for a 80 dollar kart game.

Its going to be the 3DS all over again.

Ehhh, it's not the same as the 3ds

The 3ds lineup was very weak compared to the switch 2

too much red tape. it's going to piss people off

Somehow worse than launch PS5

Get hype.

Please.

penguin.png - 1080x1160, 1.52M

70 to 80 million. the gaming landscape has massively shifted post covid favoring pc and mobile even more. the switch 1 has been a brick for years with barely any games, getting casuals to upgrade will be an uphill battle with the price and lack of games these past few years.

Successful enough to live in your head rentfree.

There is no hype for this thing or for Mario Kart World. Almost no discussion on it despite being less than a week away. Im sure it will do very well at launch but I think once the initial orders are filled these things will start to collect dust. We're in a bit of a Gaming Winter. No one wants to buy games right now. Monster Hunter Wild sold half of World. AssCreed flopped. Doom flopped. Even Expedition 33 only sold 3 million. Its good for a AA game but when you have no one buying games, its not good. People are likely tapped out and trying to sell the system for $150 more than the Switch 1 AND with games going up $10-20 bucks, I think this will be another flop in a year of flops.

80 mil seems about right to me

150 million bare minimum. I called 150 for Switch and it out did it. With a higher price and way more games it'll sell like crazy but some territories are too poor now and they'll probably stick with F2P and gacha

Covid gave the switch and animal crossing a big boost because people were stuck inside all day

I don't see it selling 150 mill again

Im not paying nearly half a grand for joycon drift 2 and a 80 dollar kart racer chasing the open world meme two gens late. I'm simply refusing to pay money for such horseshit.

Unless you live exclusively in the Nintendo ecosystem, the Switch 2 lineup is weak. Nowhere near as bad as the 3DS since the Switch 2 has Mario Kart and the $10 welcome tour but everything else is old and much more expensive than everywhere else unless you know Japanese and like idol games for Shine Post. Yakuza 0 is the best example, it's a 10 year old game that sells for $5 everywhere else that's being sold for $50 (on a GKC no less).

There will be idiots that rebuy games they've already beaten on new hardware that's me, someone that bought SF4 and Rayman 3D for the 3DS at launch because of the initial hype of a new Nintendo handheld but no one is buying a Switch 2 just to play Elden Ring or Street Fighter on it. The only system seller is Mario Kart, for anyone that doesn't care about Mario Kart it has nothing.

it'll surpass the original switch numbers and Anon Babble will cope and say "scalpers" or "chinese people shouldnt be included" or "the US shouldnt be included" or that nintendo paid off every sales statatisian etc etc

On one hand the economy is going down the shitter but on the other hand gamers are mindless animals who will buy anything.

Mario kart is nintendos most profitable ip and Donkey kong comes out the next month

And then what? They have nothing for the rest of the year

b-but muh Pokeman and Metroid

Also available for switch

Very successful. We're going to see a massive switch of PC and Sony users to the Switch 2 once they see we have actual, fun games. Nintendo will keep the games coming like they always have - retards still don't remember they only announce the games shortly before release and think we only have Mario Kart and DK until next year or something.

The Switch 1 was a complementary gaming device for many, now thanks to the better hardware and more third-party support, it will become the one and only gaming device for most people.

Based Penguin Chads

It's also the most bundled game, being bundled for 7 years in a row. The idea that Mario Kart moves units is a bit silly when it didn't save the Wii U in the slightest. It's a game you buy when you already own a Nintendo system, not a game you buy the system itself for. Especially when it's launching with a third of the tracks that MK8 has.

spend half a grand for an open world kart game

or

spend £50 on kojimas latest ruckin' and truckin' game for a console i already own

I have made my choice and once again will be the man that delivers.

I think it will perform well, though there’s no way it surpasses the Switch unless some insane software starts a trend. I’m not buying it, personally, but I know I’m in the minority of grumpy old retards who was unhappy with the Switch. Nintendo has gained too much ground in the market to completely flop in one generation, assuming the console doesn’t have a bug / feature that completely fucks its reputation. Whatever happens, we’ll never have a good thread on Anon Babble about it.

price reduction

lol, the Switch 1 still hasn't had a price reduction and you faggots are already "predicting" a drop for the switch 2.

You know what would move units? Pokémon game, actually well thought and made Pokémon game. But nooo, we have to have toddlerkart first then diaperbrawl before we get to an actual Pokémon release.

Pokemon moving units is precisely why they won't release a new game as a Switch 2 launch exclusive. There's only going to be around 5 or 6 million consoles at launch and around 15 or 16 million total available during the first year. Alienating the nearly 160 million Switch 1 owners that could buy it would be retarded. Nintendo is going to wait until there's much more supply until they release games people actually care about like a new 3D Mario. MKW works because it's bundle bait and a pseudo live service once they start pumping out DLC tracks to keep people engaged(and subbed to NSO) until the Switch 2 install base picks up enough that they can start releasing some heavy hitters and drop the crossgen that they're doing for MP4 and the new Pokemon game.

Maybe they'll make a Switch 2 Lite with the release of the next Pokémon game and ship it out with special editions with covers matching the version?

The price doesn’t bug me terribly much but I didn’t and am not playing the stupid game of signing up for pre-order stock watchers or lining up the afternoon prior for launch units for the privilege of buying it at an okay price. I just need one in time for Air Ride so I’ll buy it when they figure out how to put one in front of me without having to demean myself

IMG_0241.jpg - 848x900, 106.79K

Yakuza 0 is the best example, it's a 10 year old game that sells for $5 everywhere else that's being sold for $50 (on a GKC no less).

It worked for Switch 1 because the appeal was "Its on the go" but the novelty has completely worn off. Steam Deck already provides that, not to mention COVID transitioned pretty much everyone towards PC gaming to the point where every game except Nintendo is on PC. Nintendo doesn't realize the market has moved on a bit from traditional console games. Even PS5 is struggling to sell anything. I think people also grew tired of Switch once ToTK finally came out. If you look at most recent sales reports, the OLED was the best selling model which suggest more people have been upgrading rather than new users coming in. It may also be why Preorders sold like hotcakes but fucking no one is talking about the system otherwise. It's just scalpers and tendies that are interested in the thing. Everyone else is on PC or just not buying games due to the shitty economy.

We need a new gameboy/ds now more than ever

200/250 for console

40 for games

I don't care about graphics or open world when I want to quickly play something for 10 minutes outside

Why do people on this board act like the average consumer even knows what the deck is? it hasn't even sold 6 million units

Steam Deck already provides that

Normies don't know what a Steam Deck is.

It's really not comparable, the 3DS had literally no fucking games at launch. The "killer app" was supposed to be Nintendogs + Cats. Then there were pretty much no games for months with the next big titles being OOT 3D and Star Fox 64 3D until finally getting Mario Kart 7 and 3D Land at the end of the year. The Switch 2 is getting at least 1 big 1st party title each month.

Normies won't know its different from Switch 1 due to the packaging.

I think the greatest issue of the Switch 2 is the Switch 1. The true competitor. The fans will buy the 2 for sure but the rest of the users? They need some crazy lineup to make them... switch too.

I don't see it doing as well as the Switch but it'll do fine

You say that like all the female gamers disappeared. I think Nintendo's biggest mistake was making ACNH too grindy and slow to start.

There's a 2 on the box

It's not comparable to the wii u

The package contains 2 Switches. You buy 2 to get 1 half off.

It has Switch 1 BC, Gamecube, free and paid upgrades and MKW. It smashes the shit out of any other console launch lineup.

It’s their iPhone 3GS/4 (great successor with improvements to a revolutionary product).

200 million.

Nintendo themselves will go from sub 100 billion company to 300 - 500 billlion this gen overtaking Disney.

The Switch 2 is getting at least 1 big 1st party title each month.

The crossgen games are irrelevant, we already saw this with the PS4 and Xbox One. People will stick with the old hardware and play the games on that instead of upgrading to play MP4(even with the mouse controls) and the new Pokemon. As of right now it's:

MK World

DK

Kirby Air Riders eventually

That's 2 racing games and a game of unknown quality that some people that got to play at a preview event said was too basic and for literal kids in the same way Princess Peach Showtime was. Don't get me wrong, even that is a massive step forward from the 3DS launch though, there was legitimately nothing of note for the 3DS until the Ocarina of Time remake like you mentioned.

It will sell a lot no matter what.
Same thing happened with the no games PS5.

Consumer drones don't actually want a product but to share that they got the product.

Dreamcast clears it and it's not close. If you do the launch window then even the Gamecube launch was much better. This is because third party exclusives are dead as fuck now.

Switch 2's success depends on how many people they can lure to monthly subscription. It is Nintendo's Disney+. It is why theres a button dedicated to open the subscription page. The whole console is build around this one feature.

The gap between Switch 1 and Switch 2 is massive. Improvements are easier to see compared to the other consoles.

No one is buying MP4 on Switch 1. Same with that Game Freak game that is known for horrible performance.

Kirby and Mario Party both have extra content, I think that makes somewhat of a difference from just straight remasters/ports. Also Pokemon is guaranteed to run like ass on the Switch 1.

Switch was Nintendo's PS2. That level of success won't happen again for a long time if ever.

SEGA employee, please.

If you do the launch window then even the Gamecube launch was much better.

LM1 was like 6 hours. Switch 2 from a new players perspective has EVERYTHING Switch, GC, MKW, SMO, BOTW, TOTK, etc. Switch 2 is the greatest by far

They said that about the Wii.

The difference is that the ps4 games look exactly like the ps5 games where mp4 looks so much better on switch 2

No OLED no buy, super simple.

No one is buying MP4 on Switch 1. Same with that Game Freak game that is known for horrible performance.

I don't think you realize that there simply is not enough supply, especially with scalpers being involved(remember that the Switch 1 was scalped during Covid AND during the OLED release on top of being scalped at launch). People aren't spending $700 to a scalper and they're not going out of their way to camp out a Switch 2 against the bot swarms just to play MP4 or Pokemon when they can already do that on their current Switch.

This isn't as simple as adding it to their cart on Amazon and calling it a day, especially when Nintendo is even listing the Switch 2 on Amazon right now.

2 is way clearer than U.

What the fuck does “U” even means? 2 is greater than 1. Numbers are universal in any language.

And it took 20 years for Nintendo to replicate that kind of success, so they weren't wrong

It's called a Wii U cause when you see it, you'll do a U-turn from it.

That's retarded logic. The PS2 launch was not good because it could play PS1 games. The PS5 launch was not good either because it could play PS4 games. Having to pretend to be a newfag in the ecosystem is a dumb way to frame it because it's admitting there's basically nothing new worth a damn.

U meant Ultra, like definition or wide screen, because it was a screenpad for the Nintendo Wii.

2 Nintendo Switch is pretty obvious. Thats the multiplayer package with 2 Nintendo Switches, because the controller is the console itself, you need 2 of them to play on couch with someone.

Metroid and Pokemon don't come out for a couple months, if the console is still hard to get after a couple months that would be much better than the 3DS which cratered in sales immediately after launch.

Bro what? PS4 and PS5 and Xbox don't even have exclusives anymore, it's all on PC. And Sony and Microsoft never made games like BOTW, TOTK, MKW. All of the people saying it's bad or lacking are either the most retarded trolls ever or stupid fanboys. Like holy shit people don't understand how TERRIBLE the launch titles usually are. The games like SM64, BOTW, MKW, those are the exceptions. PS4 launched with KNACK

Having to pretend to be a newfag in the ecosystem is a dumb way to frame it because it's admitting there's basically nothing new worth a damn.

It's not even a newcomer thing. Taking a 5-8 year break from vidya is hardly unusual.

the Switch 2 lineup is weak

It is literally the entire Switch 1 catalog, which includes a huge number of excellent games.

Stock is 3X the PS5.

People can buy the game now upgrade later if they can’t get the console. Switch 2 has no drought as all old or new upcoming Switch games are playable.

PS5 doesn't even have exclusives anymore

Death Stranding 2

Spider-Man 2

Monster Hunter Wilds

Demon's Souls

Horizon Forbidden West

Grand Turismo 7

Astro Bot

The Last of Us Part II

God of War Ragnarok

Elden Ring

Street Fighter 6

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

The Last of Us Part I

Returnal

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Astro's Playroom

Destruction All-Stars

Spider-Man Remastered

Ghost of Yōtei

Try again

It will be interesting to see how long Mariokart World can keep people interested. You'd think the open world gives it longevity, but if there is no story attached to it, its just another Botw without any story or interactivity other than drive.

doesn't know what exclusive means

2011 - 2017 is 6 years not 20.

Bro those are PC games

It still has traditional 3 lap mode so it should be fine

It’s an online Battle Royale. Fortnite is 8 years old now.

MKWORLD will be played until Switch 3.

PS4 and PS5 and Xbox don't even have exclusives anymore, it's all on PC

Anyone that has a PC also has access to the entire Nintendo catalog, anon.

It won't be long until people realize that MKW has less content than MK8D

Fortnite is not about shooting and building anymore. Its constantly expanding and adding interactive elements. In Mariokart, you drive and maybe jump.

Imagine playing Botw, but you can only ride the horses in the over world.

I hope we don't get a switch 3

Nintendo is more fun when they do something completly left field

Yeah Switch 2 haxxors day one, right? lol

Based Chinpokomon DLC

IMG_3673.jpg - 639x354, 42.59K

That's a good point, once the honeymoon period for Monster Hunter Wilds wore off, the lack of content sent people back to the previous games that had a lot more.

It's sold out everywhere I tried getting one... they keep listing it as "in stock" but after purchasing I'm told they won't have shipments for me until mid-july.

That tells me people want this piece of shit, and I'm sadly one of them.

They were made with PS5 hardware in mind and for that specific audience. They are PS5 games.

Almost none of those games are exclusive what in the fuck?

I literally bought a PS2 becaue I wanted to keep my PS1 games plus GTA3. That's basically Switch 2 plus Metroid or Mario Kart.

Where did this meme come from "people didn't care about BC back in the day"? It was a huge selling point!

Which you can buy a Switch 1 for. You people are so desperate for this thing to do well so it justifies your cult behavior. The only game is has at launch is MKW, period, anything else you can play anywhere else.

The only game this has at launch is a new entry in one of the most successful and popular gaming IPs of all time! No biggie

the next installements will be switch 2 only
do people not forget about cross gen games? ps4 got both horizon 2, spiderman miles morales GOW 2 and the ps5 still sold well

and for that specific audience

The Fortnite audience? Why do you think Sony started porting their games to PC? Playstation is built with sports games and call of duty, their exclusives were never the real selling point, their first party was weak.

Bro I'm buying a Switch 2 just for the BotW and TotK updates. I'll also try out Elden Ring for the first time and if Splatoon 3 sticks around, I'll jump on that, too.

Muh new games

Idk

That's no an exclusive

You can say its optimised for ps5 but by definition it isn't exclusive

If people can play it somewhere else and it performs good enough most people won't move over to ps5 for the slight optimisation

You're misconstruing the point. Backwards compatibility is not something to get people to go buy the console day 1 when they already won the previous one. It's an added bonus but it's not a system seller. This is especially true for those older gens where the generational leaps were absurd and made all the older games look way worse in comparison.

astro bot is the only real exclusive on this list
and yeah desu its better than mario odyssey but its only one game. demon souls is a graphical facelift with botched OST, no new content and minor gameplay adjustments

Probably 30mil which is about 70% below standard

and yeah desu its better than mario odyssey

lol

I'm not feeling the hype. Its about to launch and people are only discussing how they'll own the hardware itself. It doesn't help that this console generation is aimed solely at nintendo adults.

That's how my sister plays BOTW and she has a blast with it.

ps3 had a better launch lineup and free online

Unsure, could see it selling 70 million or 140 million

Guess we'll see

Ok? MKWORLD will get updates just like all the other Mario Kart.

BOTW was a one and done game. MKW is absolutely not that.

It doesn't help that this console generation is aimed solely at nintendo adults.

Kids are getting priced out of everything Nintendo due to them and the scalpers that they enable. Pokemon is a shit show, especially the cards, but even Amiibos were getting scalped because Nintendo adults will pay the premium prices. The irony being that they're essentially making sure that current kids do not grow up to become Nintendo adults and that might have lasting long term damage to the brand's success in the future.

RIDGE RACER

People really think it's going to sell less than the PS5? Really?

Don't worry Pokemon will sell like blockbusters just like always. It's fine not caring about franchises but it's stupid to dismiss the popularity of Pokemon.

Some people are just desperate to see something flop because it gives them a sense of empowerment.

Best case scenario, 60m.

I'm expecting it to sale around 100-110 million

Hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhah

Let me put it this way.

How much did the OLED sell? That's how much the 2 is gonna sell.

Yeah, that's way too low.

I literally have not cared about nintendo since the N64, and I have 100% bought into this. Its going to break a lot of records.

at least 70mil lifetime sales. It plays switch 1 games and the only platform to play Nintendo games

muh emulation

I mean sure but switch emulation is crap so I dont expect switch 2 emulation to be worth while for a LONG time.

Kids are getting priced out

Nintendo games from my childhood cost $115 and the console was $600-$700, adjusting for inflation.

so this shit is basically a ps4 pro portable with shit controllers ?

34171374.gif - 160x90, 219.34K

The games should still sell fine, it's all the merchandise that's getting scalped. But not having a bunch of merch will make kids less attached to the IP.

Rental services existed then and you had Mario as a pack in with the NES and SNES that kids did own(and played the shit out of as a result) and Pokemon was a very affordable game with the console price and game price.

huge flop due to $80 games

Rental services existed then

Yeah and P2P resale exists now without a middleman

you had Mario as a pack in with the NES and SNES

Yeah, for $700. That's hardly a deal in current day money.

Pokemon was a very affordable game

The used market for games, ALL of which will be playable on the Switch 2, is enormous. In the bad old days you have to physically walk into or cold call a game or comics store to ask if they had those one particular game, used, and if it was worth even half a shit they wouldn't have it. Or, they would have it, for a great price of 10% less than new. Now, you just open Marketplace or whatever local trading app and there's people selling every singe game you could imagine or half off and many of these games came out less than a year ago.

The new controllers are actually a big improvement over Switch 1.

It’ll succeed, don’t worry. Won’t be as big as OG Switch and the install base will take a while to come around, but just like a pair of bouncing milkies people will flock to good ideas in video games.

The ceiling is switch -30% like every other successor console they release. There is a small percent chance it enters megaflop territory though because they are launching like a wet fart and it's going to take another 5 years till we get a new Zelda.

Im pointing out how "Console game on the go" isn't a novelty anymore. There are other options. Even Microsoft is considering making one. Its not 2017 anymore and the Switch's main appeal is not new anymore.

Normies also aren't going to buy a system that is $500 minimum to get.

It'll do well at launch (helped a lot by scalpers) but once it becomes more readily available, the sales will drop heavily. I don't think it'll even reach 100m. 80m is my guess.

40-50 million units at the end of its life, it will not be so popular.

People already have a switch that does the same things and a ps5 that has more power and costs the same.

Nintendo doesn't understand that people get bored quickly and want something new, Switch2 is not a novelty, it's a bland reiteration.

PS5 has a more complete library with all the popular releases with a chat that actually work, which Nintendo doesn't have. Not to mention that in 3 years time switch 2 will start to become obsolete again losing many titles, like gta6.

I just have a bad feeling about it. Almost everyone I know either isn't getting it or will "at some point". But there isn't going to be a price cut, in fact the pirce could go up. This is a very different situation to switch 1 where it felt like everyone was getting one to play botw

why people post this AI crap as if it was real?

I agree it'll be a step down from the switch 1, I dont think it'll get another mainstream causal push like animal crossing did

lol its not AI. I know this is shocking but the switch 2 is very popular thus being scalped up chud

Yeah, for $700. That's hardly a deal in current day money.

Well to be fair, what other choices did you really have then? That's the biggest difference today, there's so many more choices and the what's destroying a lot of the industry right now is that many of them are either free or dirt cheap(sub $10) because 10 year old games actually hold up right now as opposed to in the 90's where the games from the 10 years before really didn't hold up as well compared to contemporaries. Now you have a lot of older games that are straight up better than the new releases.

The used market for games, ALL of which will be playable on the Switch 2, is enormous.

Rental stores did exist though. Hell, the rental stores let you rent entire consoles so you could play the new release for a fraction of the cost. Pay $25 to beat OoT over the weekend instead of buying the system and game separately. I can't even imagine that model working now, people would just steal the consoles.

It was a store owner, the autist is just trying to make it look like a scalper.

GTA6 is definitely coming to the Switch 2. The attach rate for Nintendo hardware is insane, not porting it will cost Rockstar 10's of millions in sales (all full price!), PLUS all the sweet online money. Those two alone would account for 30-40% of all expected GTA6 revenue. TT would crucify Rockstar if they left that on the table, especially after a 10+ year dev cycle.

nintendos WORST selling handheld still sold 75 million. I find it very unlikely the switch 2 will flop

It'll be like going from Wii to Wii U

Is it so strange to think so? In Europe it costs more than 500 euros and games from 80 to 90 euros, it is a console for the rich at a time when families have other things to think about.
PS5 does the same things, it has no limits, games are discounted and it performs better.

I think it will do well enough so that it isn't a huge flop like the wii u, but it will do poorly enough that people on Anon Babble will call it a flop for years to come

I'm getting it "at some point" but I have my reasons, price doesn't matter.

This is a very different situation to switch 1 where it felt like everyone was getting one to play botw

Yeah, as strong of an IP as Mario Kart is, I feel it's a miss to not have a new adventure game at launch you can discuss and "spoil". Even MP4 would've been acceptable imo, even though I know that game won't be doing huge numbers.

Because they had Pokémon, but people are getting bored of seeing GF 20 years behind everyone else.

You realize that $25 in OoT release date money is $50 now, right? I bet you can find used games for a lot less than that, and you can keep them for as many weekends as you'd like, or just sell it again to drive the cost down further.

PS5 does the same things

Sony doesn't even have exclusives anymore

As a lifelong pokemon fan I can see the series going downhill in 10 years if gamefreak don't get their act together

That picture is from a delivery driver.

But who cares about context anyway?

there is no way gta6 is coming to switch2 without huge content cuts and compromises, which I don't think they want to do.
They could have worked on a port for GTA5 (a ps3 game if you think about it) for Switch too but they didn't.

Sales indicate otherwise, Pokemon as a brand is the strongest it's been since Gen 1. There's a decent chance of Scarlet and Violet outselling Red and Blue in a few more years.

Because deliver drivers use normal cars and don't put the deliveries in boxes nor label them.

That includes renting the console with it, renting the game itself was like $5 for a weekend. Perhaps less, it's been so long that it could have been $3 for a weekend and $5 for the week. However, you can find NEW games for under $50 months after release these days, publishers like Sega slash prices by 50% after 2 or 3 months. That's why a company like Sega will always use cheap Game Key Carts instead of putting the entire game on cartridge, then they wouldn't be able to slash the prices by so much so quickly.

5 was made with huge compromises on the original consoles, 6 will be 30 FPS with drops so nothing has changed. This isn't anything new. Take two isn't gonna ignore 100+ million gamers lol

ok but nobody really cares if Sony games are on PC, as long as there are all the popular f2p and some titles that Switch will never have.

Nintendo di a shit ton to save the 3DS. It had a 30% price drop early into it's like (like less than a year) and it got a fuck ton of games including both a 3D and 2D Mario, Animal Crossing and Smash Bros in addition to Pokemon.

I don't understand what you want to prove, gta5 was made with big compromises on ps3 but still came out complete, on switch1 they did nothing, gta6 on ps5 will run at 30fps as a compromise, so what? don't you think it's realistic to ignore a console that is far less performing? exactly like they did for gta5 and sw1?

Can only hope it's a big enough flop that Nintendo starts to sell their games at $60.

ok but nobody really cares

Why do people keep saying that? Why did Sony "beat" Microsoft? Because PS3 they focused on exclusives and did it again with PS4. That won over the hardcore gamers and casuals. Sure their first party games aren't even close to Nintendo but they didn't have to be. But if they got ZERO games an entire generation, all of their games are coming to PC, that means they are losing sales and fans. The hardcore users aren't gonna stay and pay for expensive paid online for no reason. Sony essentially got good will from PS3 and PS4 and they've completely failed to deliver this generation.

as long as there are all the popular f2p and some titles that Switch will never have

It's now the other way around. Nintendo will get titles that Sony will never have because Nintendo got real sales power behind them. Nintendo can make deals to get perma third party exclusives, we've already seen it with Mario and Rabbids

Wii-U level of success.

Companies underestimated Switch because of Wii U.

don't you think it's realistic to ignore a console that is far less performing?

You really think companies give a shit if a game runs terribly if they can sell millions and make money from shark cards? Hint they don't.

Why did Sony "beat" Microsoft?

NTA but it's because Don Mattrick torpedoed the brand combined with the forced Kinect on the Xbox One making it $100 more expensive than the PS4 despite being weaker. That's why Sony "beat' Microsoft, Microsoft threw so hard it's frankly still unbelievable.

The hardcore users aren't gonna stay and pay for expensive paid online for no reason

The reason is sunk cost due to all their games and paid dlc being on Playstation.

My gamestop opens at 9pm on Wednesday. They say they are expecting all 120 people who pre ordered to lineup, and phoned me to tell me that they are preparing to stay open till 1-2am to get through the entire line. That means I’ll most likely have to wait in line early so I don’t have to wait deep into the night to get home. I paid for my entire switch 2 out right so I just hand them my receipt and leave with my system. Wish they had an express line for people like this. I hated waiting 3 hours to get the pre ordered and vowed to never do it again. But now I guess I’m forced to do it if I wanna play Wednesday night with everyone else lmao

am i old? or is it just 4090 making me not consider this thing at all, i mean on pc i can buy most games for 20 bucks and use a comfy gamepad with 4k res and 120fps
am i missing something with nintendo or its just the bing bing wahoo games?

A company that cares about quality will. They wouldn’t wanna sully their reputation squeezing a game of that caliber onto weak hardware. Yea it’s obvious they would want to put it on switch 2, but the fact that it isn’t is telling of how the switch 2 just can’t handle it

The Switch is Nintendoomed. It will sell well in Japan but not anywhere else. I bet it'll hit 50 million lifetime sales with price increases instead of drops. And Nintendo will announce they will port games to Steam in five years.

Switch 2 is getting far more games in the first year than the 3DS.

15 milly first year, 10% more revenue. From Nintendo themselves.

That too of course but every Sony did do the right moves back then pre-porting everything to PC so there was actual reasons to getting a PS3/PS4 back then. I don't think porting live service games like Helldivers 2 is a bad thing but everything is just stupid.

If take-two says they have to do it they have to do it. And honestly all they gotta do is downgrade the graphics to RDR2 levels and lower the amount of NPCs. I don't think it'd even be bad compared to something like Outlaws. Their engine is really good.

120m to 130m

Jesus, snoys really lost the plot

Something in between the Wii and 3DS.

The Switch 2 has ONE GAME at launch

So it already beats PS5 day one

I don't think you understand how little Sony has lost in approaching the PC market, their sales continue despite the increased prices, the software sells, users continue to subscribe to ps plus and the software houses know that on PS5 they have no technical problems.
PS5 will get exclusives without doing anything because those games can't run on Switch 2 and don't sell on xbox, the only thing it won't have are Nintendo games.

Sw2 won't be a total flop but it will barely reach 50 million without a price cut.

Pretty much this.

That too of course but every Sony did do the right moves back then pre-porting everything to PC so there was actual reasons to getting a PS3/PS4 back then. I don't think porting live service games like Helldivers 2 is a bad thing but everything is just stupid.

I think Sony has to let the third party games go (and even Nintendo is doing this) because there's too much money left on the table if games are ported to PC for the Chinese market and third parties aren't going to play ball if they're forced to stay console exclusive forever. If you want to sell a game in Japan, it needs to be on Switch. Likewise, if you want to sell a game in China, it needs to be on PC. Even Sony acknowledges this with Aniplex(Sony Music) putting games targeting the Japanese out on Switch .

That's why Microsoft and Sony are moving their first party games to PC too, because the retards running these companies now are business majors that want to see lines going up and means trying to expand their IPs into to the Chinese market. Nintendo was able to get through the console bans that China used to have via a Chinese company called iQue that released some of their consoles and games in China via a loophole where they sold a controller that played games and not a physical console, so Nintendo isn't in the same spot that Microsoft and Sony are where they need the IP recognition in China.

Well, you don’t own anything on Steam.

Nintendo still support physical media. Switch 2 is also a portable, which is a big selling point for a lot of people. Also, games. It has access to the entire Switch library plus future exclusives.

The irony being that they're essentially making sure that current kids do not grow up to become Nintendo adults

that's what the movies and theme parks are for

it depends.
The current 2025/early 2026 lineup is lackluster and full of ports.
Launch library is garbage, but thanks to scalpers it will sell all the initial stock for a year. Nintendo will see this as a win and one of two things will happen:

1) They keep re-releasing switch 1 games and ports and fail to make a system seller, scalpers stop buying because nobody is buying their scalped consoles, price drops, scalpers unload and sales go into the dumpster year 2

2) They announce a late 2026 Zelda/3D Mario game (Metroid is not a big seller, especially Prime) and drum up enough hype for a year 2 window system mover, the sales explode and it does well.

The problem is they're banking on Mario Kart World selling like 8 did, and people just don't care that much about it for the price. People will pay $80 for Zelda/Mario, but not Mario KART.
A big Animal Crossing release would do it too. Like a MASSIVE overhaul to it, stardew valley style, with multiplayer. Normies would love that shit.

I have friends whose only bills are their car payments. They're questioning if they can even afford the Switch 2.

Psvr2 is cheaper, much better hw and has 400 more games than this.

That's why Microsoft and Sony are moving their first party games to PC

They did it because their games don't sell on Playstation and it was costing too much. Nintendo is spending a lot of money on their biggest games of course but the difference is their games sell.
The new markets is just speculation. In my opinion the ultra poor countries like india or china will never embrace real gaming, they can't afford it. And if they got any money they always do the same thing, they buy the cheapest console they can hack or a cheap PC and pirate everything.

Nintendo still support physical media.

ehhhhhhhh
the cards are expected to be working for like 10 to 15 years then die in the physical case
so you will own a physical plastic box

Street shitters and Phil Spencer taking over didn't help either.

It's won't be quite the WiiU, but the first couple years will be a hard sell because there won't be any exclusive software. Combined with how popular PC gaming has become and Nintendo shift away from children, and we will most certainly see a drop-off from the Switch highs. Which is exactly why Nintendo raised the price. Paypigs must subsidize the company.

The alternative is shitty fisher price brick tablets that are $1000.

Switch 2 is still the best valued product. Your argument doesn’t hold much water because phones also exist and even during the Switch generation. The Switch simply provides superior on the go experience with full PHYSICAL controls baked in. And Nintendo simply does price per performance the best of anyone.

These PC tablets are too expensive ugly and no dock included. Phones are too expensive with no physical controls.

The Switch 2 even add a mouse now too. It’s full of features. You don’t have to buy a separate mouse to use a mouse. Your phone can not do that.

These are all valid points why it was a success and continues to be. Until someone else can one up Nintendo in terms of features and price per performance. They will stay on top.

Wii U, N64, or GC situation

The alternative is shitty fisher price brick tablets that are $1000.

The cheapest Steam Deck model is cheaper than the Switch 2

When you look at Steam review breakdowns, you realize that the Chinese are buying a shit ton of games. They're the main audience for a lot of games.
togeproductions.com/SteamScout/steamAPI.php?appID=881020
togeproductions.com/SteamScout/steamAPI.php?appID=1902690

Even a big game like MH Wildsl is swarming with Chinese reviews. Keep in mind that these numbers don't include the Chinese that can speak English and leave an English review as well.
togeproductions.com/SteamScout/steamAPI.php?appID=2246340

Pic related shows how much the Chinese have started flocking to Steam over time. This is why everything is ported to PC.

Price per performance

You place a lot of faith in Nintendo products. The Switch was pretty much an entire generation behind its competition, I remember the south park games running at sub-20 fps on that Crayola tablet. The Switch two will come out, and immediately be overpowered by the next generation of home consoles (which everyone will design games for) and is already beaten by a mid-range PC. Applications are what sell Nintendo products, not technology.

I'm waiting for an OLED version

Nintendo isn't in the same spot that Microsoft and Sony are where they need the IP recognition in China.

Nintendo IPs have no recognition in China. The Switch absolutely flopped there and they've given up on the region. Gaming is China is restricted to adults due to laws limiting play time and Tiger Moms not wanting their kids to play games. Nintendo only released Mario, Kirby and Pokemon (lol) in a market that is dominated by either anime games or games about China. Zelda, Xenoblade and Fire Emblem had more of a chance over there, but Nintendo still thinks its the 80s and still think everyone has to have Mario 40 years later

You place a lot of faith in Playstation releasing a home console

The Switch two will come out, and immediately be overpowered by the next generation of home consoles

Bold of you to assume a new Playstation is on the way any time soon, and Microsoft is definitely not making another Xbox.

elda, Xenoblade and Fire Emblem had more of a chance over there, but Nintendo still thinks its the 80s and still think everyone has to have Mario 40 years later

Those games wouldn't get through the Chinese regulators, what they allow is incredibly strict which is why only the most milquetoast children's games will get through but even then ACNH was banned because it allowed too much freedom of expression. That's why everyone else ports to Steam now because that's a loophole to get into the Chinese market without going through their regulatory body.

The Chinese Switch is sold by Tencent and is regionlocked, it's dogshit. It barely has any games, I believe the number of games is less than 20. What the Chinese are buying are imported Switch consoles without the regionlocking. You'll even see some Japanese games like the DQ3 remake have Manadarin on the Japanese cartridge so Chinese importers can play it.

All the more reasons why Sony and Microsoft are failing.

NTA, but very insightful post.

So thats 4 exclusives if we are extremely generous, thats kinda pitiful at the twilight years of a consoles lifespan don't ya think?

Completely retarded.

Not even just China. Look at the English one too. In 2017 (year Switch game out) it was 25 million. Now its about 60 million. The Switch 1 sold 58 million in the US but some of those purchases include the Lite and OLED models so actual Switch users in the US is much lower. At the same time, more kids are going to be on PC thanks to Fortnite.

PC gaming is even growing in Japan and now its like 20% of the market when it was like 5% before COVID. PC is consolidating globally and its only going to get worse. Why support the Switch 2 as much when you have a larger poll of users on Steam and PC in general. If the Switch 2 doesn't do well, investors are going to be asking the same question. That 58M users in the US did take 5-7 years to build too. Dedicated hardware is a lot harder now and Nintendo should have come out swinging rather than this limp dick line up they have for Switch 2

Nintendo's tick tock history says this fails

business illiterates will look at 32 million units sold and cry "failure!"

Microsoft is worth $3.5 trillion dollars, the Xbox project is subsided and they will not relent their pursuit of the home demographic because it also means subscriptions and innoculating younger users to the window system. Both Sony and Microsoft WILL release a next gen home console because the advancement of games dictates it and they need a device for their subscription users to play off of without building a PC. NOT releasing a next-gen console is simply illogical.

It will be very successful after the pricecut. they will do it because of the poor and slow sales. It will be at 450$.

After they sell 100 million, i assume?

Pokemon S/V runs at 60fps on Switch 2

Oh, this will sell 100 million at minimum.

Oh I forgot to mention. I said PC handhelds are ugly, but I forgot to say that the Switch/Switch 2 itself is an attractive piece of tech. Design matters too esp in consumer tech. Beauty sells period.

Did they fix the actual game? Because frame rate was only part of the problem, that game had one of the buggiest launches I've ever seen.

For reference, this was the entire physical Switch library in China back at the end of 2023. I believe only 3 new games released last year Kirby Star Allies, New Pokemon Snap, and Let's go Pikachu/Eevee.

Maybe it was different back in the late 2010s but there are way more problematic Chinese games than those three I mentioned. Genshin is likely more problematic than either of the Fire Emblem games for starters

Here is the list of games for games Nintendo released in China. Its all kiddy shit like Mario, Kirby and Pokemon. Pokemon is especially a joke since free to play mobile games look better. Mario also doesn't do well unless its a market that had the NES. China isn't going to care about an Italian plumber that goes WAHOO YIPPIE SKIPPY. I mention those games as they would have resonated more with the Chinese audiences than games that are targeted to Children and families.

eurogamer.net/nintendo-switch-eshop-closing-2026-in-china

Why support the Switch 2

Why support the biggest console? lol
By the way everyone pirates with PCs you think companies like that? Why do you think they all use denuvo now? Becase of piracy.

I didn't say anything about anyone being a failure. I just said PS6 isn't coming any time soon and Xbox has been pushing so hard on their "Xbox anywhere" marketing along with all the cross-platform games that I don't picture them making another Xbox. Xbox will just be a Microsoft brand for games that you find on PC, PS5/6, and Switch/2 in the coming years.

Yikes!

If you’re going to be like that… there are 300 million Nintendo accounts with 128 million active Switch users.

PC in general is still more expensive than consoles to get a similar experience. Not everyone likes PC gaming.

The switch and especially switch 2 is too massive to use on the go

Even at 128 million Switch Accounts, thats still less than the over 175 million Steam accounts.

I know you’re not being serious, but there are tendies who legitimately believe this and it’s terrifying.

It's gonna do fine, expect more snes numbers than switch numbers but Nintendo ain't sure as hell stopping with consoles any time soon, we will die before an official pc mario game

And that ONE game is as powerful of an IP as fucking GTA especially if you adjust that it's platform exclusive to Nintendo.

More people bought Mario Kart 8 on the Switch than GTA 5 on any individual console.

I think everyone is waiting for GTAVI to come to PC.

It's much harder for foreign companies to get their products approved in China then it is for domestic companies to release something. A lot of games like Genshin, Honkai Impact 3, and Azur Lane had to actually all censor their games domestically so the Chinese regulators did start cracking down on mobile games harder too.

The issue truly is that a game like Fire Emblem wouldn't pass through the regulators, the only way it could release in China is via Steam so Nintendo would have to do what Sony and Microsoft are doing for that to happen but the brand damage in every other market is probably not worth it.

If you're such an expert on China, can you tell me how to get a Chinese girlfriend?

If you can't afford switch 2, buy switch 1. It's still getting games

5 million sales in the first month from the united states alone.

Very

You guys do realize the Switch 2 could very well outsell the Steam Deck within this month right

The $90 price tag for Mario kart turned me from day 1 buy to Nintendo can go eat a dick and die. No game, ESPECIALLY, a Nintendo game will be worth that much money. It’s just greed. This system is about as powerful as a ps4 and those games were $60. I’d have been maybe okay with an increase to $70, but suck a dick you greedy jews.

hurrr durr no game is that expensive, it’s only $88 after tax

Don’t Xenoblade and Fire Embkem games have both simplified and traditional chinese support and localizations? I know that Three Houses, Engage and Xenoblade X DE have both simplified and traditional chinese language options

That’s still an enormous amount of potential customers. You’re acting like the Switch is some Xbox level but it’s not. If publishers want money they have to support Nintendo/ Consoles.

Also, account numbers don’t really show the full picture. Purchasing habits and power matters more.

How many steam games are bought at $5 versus $60 dollar console games? Phones have this problems too of people not willing to buy games. Huge player base (the largest in fact), but with low purchasing power (except for whales). Whales genuinely fund the mobile industry.

Console players spend more money than PC players. Look up Fortnite revenue split.

Around 50m total, still good but at that price it's not going to sell nearly as well. People have way less disposable income now too.

Bought a switch 1, shan't be buying a switch 2 so that's minus 1 sale

It's going to be yet another example of why loud yapping small dogs from Anon Babble, twitter or reddit do not account for how well something will sell or not. This is not another tortanic. It'll sell well.

I like the idea of some yellow jew seething in Japan that the gaijin aren’t as subservient as the Japanese if this happens.

Anon Babble thinks it's gonna flop so it's probably gonna be a HUGE success

Yep, I'm lining up as soon as the mall opens on the 4th at EBgames, I'll be there all day waiting for 9pm for the non-preorder tickets for midnight. Never listen to what Anon Babble says, the lineups will be big.

Das rite. Like assassins creed shadows.

Many games get localized for the Taiwanese market but don't release in mainland China. When Chinese people import a Switch console from Taiwan, Japan, or wherever else then they can buy those Taiwanese releases. It's a grey market, the games aren't illegal but they're not officially sold in China so the Chinese gamers have to rely on imports.

MS is going to spin off Xbox before they let them do another Series-type generation. Satya is already giving them shit by saddling them with Bond as President and insisting that everything they do has to tie into the cloud. The "Next Xbox" is an ARM handheld for streaming-only Gamepass games and a Steam Machines-like certification for PCs. Given such a fragmented hardware landscape, devs are just going to shrug and make Switch and PC versions and leave the compatibility and performance work to MS, if MS still wants it on Gamepass. Gamepass itself will turn into a sort of Steam Workshop/Early Access ecosystem with an endless stream of half-baked hardly-A quality titles from devs that have figured out how to game MS's subscription fee system. And the occasional high quality first-party title like Doom The Dark Ages and Starfield. This will never be profitable and MS will never have an incentive to change it and at some point Spencer and the few actual gamer-types will leave and it will turn into another Apple Games or Amazon Games type of service and I bet you can't even name 2 titles from those companies, that's the kind of success Xbox has to look forward to.

Why do you care?

Ehhh

Why type this?

Between 80-100m. Going to depend on what gets released on the system, but I do feel like because of the prices there will be a big disparity in sofware sales. People will buy way less games on it.

The "Next Xbox" is an ARM handheld

he doesn't know

Does Sony pay you to make these threads, or do you actually do it for free?

Or the first Switch
Or Monster Hunter World
Or Elden Ring
Or Nightreign right now lmao

The Xbox is essentially dead. The home console is a locked-down Windows box with no access to Windows desktop, half-assed backwards compatibility, and access to third party stores that agree to be on the Microsoft Store. PC Microsoft Store will become the default meaning they will have less games than they ever did, and if released, will cost $1000+ because they can't subsidize it. The in-house Xbox handheld was completely canned because Valve scared Microsoft with the SteamOS, lol. Steam Deck 2 will release before the next Xbox in early 2027 while Microsoft release their finally crappy Xbox at the end of that year.

Unless you can't point to something specifically that would cause issues with those games, I gonna say you're full of shit. You're also making it seem like they can't just adjust the content in those games like every other mobile game that releases in China has already done.

And Genshin is the same in all regions with the only thing being that global gets some old costumes (they all use the CN version in cutscenes though). Genshin Impact has the exact same age rating as Fire Emblem and Xenoblade BTW

It's probably not going to sell as much as the switch, but that's a given.
Given the preorders though, 100m is probably a reasonable estimate.

The Switch 2 might actually sell more in Japan than the next Xbox does wordlwide lmao

You can't extrapolate shit based on pre-orders everything sells well on those especially due to scalpers, even the peeyew sold out

no new zelda

no new mario

wii U ass naming scheme

no pandemic to make everyones grandmother buy one for animal crossing

too pricey for kid families

no way this is making switch level sales

The Steam Deck 2 will sell better than the next Xbox, lol.

Switch 2 is nowhere near as bad as wii u

Depicts religious activities or the supernatural, such as cults, fortune-telling, ghosts, zombies, vampires, etc., or using the banner of science to fabricate or reproduce the supernatural in real life.

Right there FE Engage is off the list. Xenoblade X would probably fall under using science to fabricate the supernatural.

Depicts obscenity or pornography, nudity, homosexuality, polygamy, adultery, or sex in any form, including sexual taboos.

Three Houses is out due to homosexuality. Xenoblade 3 is out due to nudity.

Content that promotes violence, terror and cruelty, such as torture, corpses, skeletons, blood of any color, mass destruction.

Xenoblade 1 has Dunban cough up blood, 2 has corpses.

That's way too low. Even the ps5 will outsell that.

This is peak Tendie. If you want to suppose a platform, what makes more sense: Switch or Steam. The answer is obvious. There are more users on Steam and Tendies almost never buy third party software. Even the games coming out on Switch 2 are all ports. They'll support it if they can port PC developed titles to it and if it under performs they won't even bother.

Console players spend more money than PC players.

Most games sell better on Steam now. Go look at Helldivers 2 which has 80% of its players on Steam

Are you too stupid to realize they can edit or change all of those? WoW already changes the skeletons for CN stupid

My favorite is

the use of power or money for personal gain

because that one kills so many games that have antagonists abusing power.

NTA but even if you do change those things, they still barely let any foreign games through regardless because they can find small things and fuck you over because of them.

In 2024, a total of 1,306 domestic games and 110 foreign titles were approved, an increase from the previous year’s 977 local titles and 98 imported ones, and significantly up from 2022’s 468 and 44, respectively.

That includes both mobile and actual games.

It will obviously sell amazing

Doesn't really matter because Nintendo was releases games in China already. The problem I'm saying is it was the wrong games. Games like Mario, Kirby and Pokemon were never going to appeal to the Chinese market because they don't have the same "family friendly" market you see elsewhere. Games like Zelda, FE and Xenoblade would have had more success because they are more similar to other titles. The truth was never a limit on content because games already change their content for the Chinese market and Nintendo was working with Tencent. Its more anon being retarded because they think that was the issue when the actually issue was Nintendo never even tried with those titles to begin. Nintendo was under the illusion that IPs that are built on nostalgia would sell in a market without that nostalgia

Honestly, I'd rather play games on my Switch than at my computer. It's just more comfy. The exception is games that actually have a reason to appreciate the graphics. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those that I'll never play on the Switch 2, even if it is impressive in how they managed to get it to run so well. Turning all the details and effects up on my 4090 is just too good. But Elden Ring? Switch 2. First party games? Switch 2. Multiplats? Unless it's a twitch shooter or benefits from having a lot of keys, Switch 2.

That guy's point about consoel players SPENDING more is spot on. Steam and others runs deep discounts all the time for sales. EGS gives them away! GTA5 sold 200 million copies and that's great but you can often get it for $5. It would need an ASP of more than $20 to make more than MK8 despite the sales disparity.

I just mentioned the first thing that came to mind for those games. There's absolutely a lot more violations than just those, and from a business perspective the time and money spent scrubbing these games to make it possible to release them on the Tencent Switch isn't worth it.

Unless they lower the price, specially for games, you can't play pretend a parent to spend 90 fucking euros on a single game because they can't be arsed to make cartridges with less than 64gb of storage.

sadly 90 euros have been the standard for the last 5 years ever since PS5/Xbox Series X launched, I really doubt they will go back to 60 again.

You'd be surprised by the massive amount of things shipped in their actual boxes with just the sticker somewhere in them, even amazon who could afford them perfectly fine ships them in their boxes.
For example, last month bought an xxl mousepad on amazon and they shipped it in the pad's box and just the sticker on the side.

It was 80€, but now they'll all go 90€, because fuck you and they ought to fail even harder.

Good haul

For all you know Nintendo did try to get them through and failed, only a handful of imported games get released in China every year. Last year 3 whole Switch games made it through. When the Switch has over 5,000 games and less then 20 get a release then that's clearly an issue with the Chinese regulation. The Chinese market is THAT impenetrable, it's legitimately why everything third party(and even first party MS/Sony) is getting ported to PC.

The only way for a foreign company to release games legally in China is to have partnership with a Chinese company and go through the process of obtaining the license, which is a lengthy and non-transparent process that can often take a year or more, involving lots of back and forth where the government will decline with very vague reason ("contains harmful content"), and the game company will have to guess where it's wrong, modify the game and send it in again. Even seemingly very safe and wholesome games can easily go through several of these iterations.

that Slovenian game shop owner is gonne get rich

Did they always succeed? It seems like every handheld they put out would have weird offshoots within the generation.
GBA, micro
DS, DSi
3DS, 3DSXL, 2DS, etc
I enjoyed some of these systems, but some of these choices just seem flat out weird, and I didn't personally know anyone to have bought them.

Do we know if the switch pro controller works with it?
I kinda dont want to buy a new one and my old one is comfy

It will work, but no C button so you can't bring up gamechat.

It’ll work, though you can’t turn on the system with it

implying anyone will use gamechat and let nintendo spy on them

Just use discord

Just use discord

No, I'm not a tranny groomer.
