The reason why Capcom does regular shooter gamemodes or asymmetrical multiplayer is because those are more primed for longevity, which is the only goal of a multiplayer service.

Like, he stole the Village anonymous leak which is talked about in this thread, but his RE9 'leak' of the moment was also stolen from elsewhere if I recall, and the big thing he stole is CV and Zero being remade.
That one I know comes from a German youtuber.

That was Resident Evil's identity for damn near a decade, and only changed after Mikami was forced to flip the board because Capcom fucked up by making the franchise exclusive to a console that looks like a Fisher Price lunchbox, and people only buy to play Nintendo games on, so they had to turn it into action schlock in order to swing for that lowest common denominator buck, and the franchise has been a rudderless clusterfuck ever since.

I would also add that zombies, BOWs, and Umbrella continue to be the franchise's identity in movies/TV series/merchandising/etc.

This is like borderline conspiracy theory but the fact that you can find a brown beetle in 4's remake, which was previously only seen in 5, confirmed it for me.

I only like the action shooter RE games. Considering the next one is done by the guy that did 7 it probably won't be for me. Which sucks because I haven't played anything recently except the remake of 4.

I've liked pretty much every mainline Resident Evil game. 6 was the only one I hated. I think this might be the most consistently good video game franchise when you exclude spins off and whatnot just looking at the core mainline games.

It's very simple.

I think the balance was reached in RE4, where it was more like Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness (And Return of the Living Dead), where you can dispatch groups or literall hordes, but the fear factor comes from the adrenaline of the you/them duel, plus the sounds and ambiance, i did like RE2 Remake but i think reanimated corpses should BE more easy to dispose of, not for it to have kevlar skin and sustain shotgun shells like those were made of rubber, missed oportunity to make it truly perfect, i have no problem with the G-Mutants of the other high tier enemies, but overall the zombies being able to sustain so much damage was dumb.

It was that way in the originals too, the RE2 remake just emulated that. I personally think that people have just been trained by years of stuff like Dead Rising and Dying Light to think of zombies as glorified target dummies, and some were frustrated when RE2make threw Return of the Living Dead zombies at them instead. I mean, the T-Virus' whole thing is altering DNA, and generally making things more durable. They're not Romero zombies, they're their own thing.
