you need to find an int scaling off-hand if you run out of fp, but you should be using items and absorbing from monsters and teammates to not run out. you have to be a lot more aware of what youre picking up and doing with her than most other characters

Ironeye, easily. Duchess is really fun and has the highest DPS potential but it's entirely dependent on your team doing damage. Her ult is mediocre, it's a get out of jail free card but in most pubs if I need to use it to pick up both teammates the run probably isn't going that well. Wylder is also fun.

If you can get 3/4 weapons with bonus damage after blocking an attack and you're using relics that have bonuses for counter hits you will put the other two members of your party to absolute shame with how much damage you can effortlessly shit out after deflecting an attack with super guard and poking with a light.

Ironeye - Best character overall due to mark, great damage with bows, a strong ultimate, and the ability to melee with dex weapons. Do not sleep on using him in melee. Using melee during staggers/openings and constant ranged plinking when not gives him insane up time.
Raider - Best melee class, highest damage potential, most stagger potential. His ultimate kind of sucks but he is very tanky.
Duchess - Most consistent melee damage dealer due to insane dodges. Her skill is the best in the game due to being able to repeat everyone elses. She needs status or elemental weapons.

Wylder - Best ultimate in the game, best mobility in the game. Damage wise is a worse Raider but has more flexibility. Solid pick.

Recluse - Has high potential but she needs a team to actually help her get a good staff, upgrade it, hold aggro for her, and not constantly fuck up her skill. If she spams the right skill combo she has insane damage but lots of the time it is impossible due to retard mcfuckface hitting the boss with 1 holy damage constantly.

Executor - Bleed weapons are strong, he is the best at using them. His skill and ultimate are not good. His ultimate is good for bullying low level bosses and clearing camps.
Guardian - Best revive ultimate in the game, is nice and supportive, but Damage > Defense

Revenant - Pointless class. FP management is impossible for a caster. Her summons have terrible AI and just get AoE'd by the boss. She does no damage. Heals and support magic cannot be used on the nightlords. Waste of a slot.

Reviving is retarded and not based on damage. Literally everyone should carry around a colossal weapon because they revive much faster. Duchess, a dex character, revives faster with a gigantic two handed axe than she does a dagger.

indian bird has super guard that you can quickly guard counter out of and a huge amount of weapons have bonus damage to guard counter and thrusting counter that you can absolutely blast huge amounts of damage by countering.

Just find 6 weapons with guard counter and you have a nuclear weapon that you can safely tag most nightlords with. The bird is boring to play because he's so RNG dependent and his combat cycle is guard poke, but it's fucking ridiculous how much damage he does.

I'm three for three on solo runs post-patch. Though it hasn't made an enormous difference I don't think, I'm just a level or two higher at the end and the extra revive has only made the difference in one run. I'm more just getting used to what to prioritize and how to use the characters.

You can and the last patch just made it slightly easier to do so, but it's still overall not balanced around solo play, some classes really suffer alone.

Worst case scenario, you can ignore your character's abilities and just play it straight as if it were regular ER. Having a good weapon and being decently leveled is enough.

I've only played Bird and Sorceress so far and I like both but Bird feels pretty bad in a lot of the bossfights when guard counters just whiff or you get guard broke blocking something that everyone else can just roll through and I wish Recluse could elect not to use the cocktail once its mixed because sometimes I hate sitting through the animations when I just want to get mana back off a random mob.

There is a night and day difference between duchess and ironeye. Ironeye is WAY above her in strength, it's not even close.

I like not dying. I love spamming guard counters and stance-breaking bosses. I like being able to make non-bosses a complete non-issue with my whirlwinds. And being able to revive both party members even if they're at 3 bars each, is a pretty powerful ult. Just a shame so few allies appear to abuse the fact that the ult makes them invulnerable to damage during its duration too. Do some hail mary shit and just take the (non)damage. Do the markers I set ever lead to anything good? Not really, but I like to think it gives the team a raison d'etre during the downtime between bosses.

It depends. Someone needs to take on the leader role and basically guide the people around the route. Sometimes this works out great because the leader is at least semi-competent and a semi-competent plan is better than no plan. Other times the leader is retarded and it is bad. Then other times no one or multiple people try to be the leader and it is just chaos and you lose to the first or second boss.

It is based on stagger, I think. Literally everyone including Recluse and Duchess, revive faster with a colossal weapon than their own regular weapon. Duchess can hit a full combo with two daggers and barely do anything. She uses a colossal axe and just 2 hits can revive someone.

He also has the most fun kit overall with an incredibly useful skill and probably the strongest ultimate. Most other characters have a discrepancy between their skill and ult (Duchess, for example). Ironeye is another character with an amazing skill and ultimate.

The circle shouldn't fully refill if you got it below one of the bars thresholds. e.g. If you got down to the first bar before the boss decided to come over and start shitting aoes on them, the gauge should only refill to the first bar.

See: When you're new you should probably try to follow other people and then see if it works out or not. Most important things are shit like clearing the minicamp you spawn at to hit level 2 (it basically doubles your HP) then try to hit up the churches for more flasks. Between the churches do camps/ruins to get rewards and levels. Don't try to kill field bosses on day 1 unless they're really easy ones like the stupid beastmen. Weapons/shields/equipment give passive bonuses so every slot should be filled. A bow that gives damage while two handing works even when two handing a sword.

You gotta be fast. The game's pace is honestly a little too quick and sweaty. Just try to always have a goal in mind. Don't stand around. Hop from camp to camp to ruin to ruin to get to the churches. Level up whenever you can. Hit up a mine if you find a decent weapon to upgrade it.

It is already balanced for solos. Just avoid dangerous bosses in the world. Solo is literally easier when you get to the end boss, merchants sell auto revives, now you get a passive auto revive during final day bosses/nightlords, I had 3 self revives my last run.

Most importantly, FINAL bosses, the nightlords, have pitiful hp solo. Like 30% max. I unironically think the game is harder in a group to win on.

That being said why does guardian only have B strength? His skill is dog shit in boss fights (whirlwind) and his roll is awful. He deserves to hit harder it should have been A.

I think the overall structure of the game is very fun. I just wish they make non-boss encounters harder and more diverse, as well as more diversex environments. I also wish bosses can deal against multiple players better, maybe by summoning ADS or something.

As a Rev main, its weird seeing all the hate she's getting. It is really easy to position your family so they can do damage. Also her starting weapon has a range taunt when you 2h it. You can heal your family with the starting heal seal, and other ways like warming stones. You can also summon family members while targeting downed allies and they will rez 'em. Finally, when you use your ult, your family uses theirs too. Sebastian's ult is really good for main bosses.

I mean the game is genuinely fun. I've beaten all the bosses and yet I've continued to play more and more just cause I enjoy it.

Nigga the entire purpose of her character is that she has a spammable skill that repeats ~60% of the damage the boss just took. Someone ults? You skill. Bleed proc? Skill. Frost proc? Skill. Critical strike? Skill. Imagine if your ult did 60% more damage, that is what Duchess is for.
She also can easily dodge through everything if you have at least two braincells. Her ultimate is used for reviving people during bosses.

She is really good. You just need to not be a retard.

Ironeye is my best class, but Guardian and Wylder are way more fun. Ironeye is incredibly useful but it's just not a lot of fun not doing a lot of damage. It almost feels like I'm playing even more of a tank than Guardian since I spend half my time kiting shit.

The "start" of the volcano dungeon is when you meet the fat nigga and his two friends. You basically follow that, drop down a hole, kill another fat nigga, go through a golden fog door, kill some chariots, jump down the side of a cliff to the bottom, then kill some hands and then fight a boss and get the special reward. It gives an insane amount of runes, loot, and is 100% worth doing if your team is not retarded.

There is a group of Fire Monks + Prelate guarding a door that leads further down.
Wylder has the double benefit of being the MC cover art guy AND having one of the best looking sets From Soft has ever made. Guardian being a bird adds to his novelty. Unfortunately, I don't think that there are a lot of things drawing fanartists to Executor or Raider, and it really doesn't help that Raider's design is a bit messy to draw.

I haven't decided yet for which of them I'm going to unlock costumes. The palading looking one for guardian is sick, but I'm struggling a bit to play him effectively, since it feels like his damage kind of falls off by night 3.

Guardian is more of a support character than anything else. His damage isn't super high, but in theory his ability to block the boss and keep it in place should give your other team members more time to deal damage to make up the difference. He can also revive teammates with his ultimate.

Fp on attack is goated but not mandatory. The summons are fine if you ult with them nearby, they do a special attack (laser for the big guy, aoe combo for pumpkin head). The main thing is them drawing aggro, near the end of the game that is their sole purpose.

I did the dog for my third Nightlord, but it seems you've already done that. I think that Augur is pretty easy if you know what you're doing, i.e. take ranged weapons and sleep resistance.

Duchess isn't even good, her stat spread is ass, her ult is worthless and most Nightlords punish aggressive play so much that you can barely have teammates stack noticeable damage, it's situational.

Can someone explain to me how executors sword works? Is it just its own weapon with predetermined stats? Or is it based on what is currently equiped? Should i use that over rivers of blood for example?

They need to rework Day 3 bosses. In older games you simply ran back to re-learn the boss. Now if you lose it's another 45~ minutes to get back to the boss.

you parry with it sekiro style and after a few hits the scabbard comes off and its attack goes up a ton along with it getting a unique attack.

Executor sword does not increase in damage when it glows, it just changes the L2 to a high stagger decent damage attack, thats it. the deflect is a gimmick desu, its objectively better to abuse his stats and run status dex weapons.

It's pretty shit on it's own, it has it's own stats and it's pretty much out damaged by any dex weapon you can find that isn't white, it doesn't apply any status. It seems like it should get a damage boost when you get the gold buff but as far as I know all it does is buff the swipe skill. It's pretty much just a parry stick you should be using a normal weapon for damage.

For me it's Wylder and Duchess having different accents when they're supposed to be related

Between the blade beam cocktail and stars of ruin I was shitting out damage. I actually soloed a zamor field boss by just spamming stars of ruin at his face. Recluse is fun as fuck, I love it.

I had a run where I ended up playing a greatshield+rivers of blood Executor. I felt like the biggest shitter in the world playing like that, but it was the easiest win I ever had.

Playing Guardian feels like shit not because blocking is bad (it's fine as long as you build for it) but because you do so little damage that the enemy is just going to perma-aggro your teammates.

Also the game does not do enough to explain that the bonus stats on your unequipped weapons still get applied to you. I never would have realized it if someone in the thread hadn't pointed it out. I'm sure half my teammates are doing zero damage / dying so easily because they're just picking up random shit instead of stuff with good stats.

now with more experience you can unironically enjoy solo. Solo play is a harder knowledge check because there's no backup when you bite off more than you can chew but it's kind of comfy

I got this game having no idea how to play Soulsbornes.
I just booted it up, picked Recluse, and did my best to figure out how to player her.
From what I can tell, hitting enemies with magic lets you regain mana and build stacks of some other magic attack.
I'm not really sure what her Ultimate does.
I feel like my staff dictates how useful I am.
Other than that should I just play absolute defensively and cast any spells I safely can? Also am I expected to be like a support-type person keeping people up if they get downed?

My biggest problem was actually finding seals to use. I didn't realize that churches have guaranteed seal drops.
Also I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to hide character stats. I guess I could see maybe not wanting players to spend too long staring at their stats when on an expedition, but they should at the very fucking least be displayed on the character select screen.

Her S Faith is really good, she nukes with lightning and black flame. She's a better incant user than the Rev lol.
The cocktails barely feel worth it, though, the cast time is so long and she's one-tapped by most bosses, you basically need someone to hold aggro while you cocktail so you can go back to munching mana.

Her ult marks enemies in range. Marked enemies take more damage and give any teammates that hit them a bit of HP and FP back. It also instantly revives any downed teammates in range.
Keeping people alive is everyone's job, just know that magic does fuck all to the revive bar. Carry a melee weapon and switch to it for reviving.

The funny part of this (since I do actually have all this shit memorized after playing 2000 hours of Elden Ring) is that the stat scalings for weapons don't actually match their Elden Ring counterparts. All weapons in a category have the exact same scaling (with the exception of split damage and status weapons). The Knight's Greatsword and Zweihander for instance are both DEX weapons in Elden Ring, but in Nightreign they have the same STR scaling as every other greatsword/colossal sword.

How do you play solo?

Go to the expedition selection and then push whatever button takes you to the menu that lets you customize passwords and stuff; it'll be at the bottom, you can switch between multiplayer and solo.

Cocktails are a very mixed bag. My personal favorite is the transient moonlight one that you get from lightning+magic. It deals a pretty hefty chunk of damage and actually comes out really fast.
Even some of the slower ones like the magic+fire wisp thing and the lightning+magic+fire(I think) gravity explosion do a pretty good amount of damage despite their long animations.
