I'm replaying the Future trilogy, started with Tools obviously and goddamn it fucking sucks, I'm at the third last planet, the cragmite one, and I'm forcing myself to get through it because of what a slog it is.
The on-rail shooting sections, the limp generic orchestral soundtrack, the fucking gay ass pirate dancing minigame made its return from UYA, the whole space pirate idea as a whole sucks so much dick whose idea was it they're so fucking lame, the drophyds are also lame.
Going from the PS2 quadrilogy to Future was a real kick in the balls (Going Commando for life), I really, really hope A Crack In Time is as good as I remember, if it is I might try Nexus too, ridiculously short game but the swamp level in that one was pretty cool
FAGGOT AND WANK SEX TOYS OF ANAL DESTRUCTION
I don't remember Tools sucking but I remember thinking ACiT is the best R&C game.
tools is ok even if it is inferior to the ps2 games
a crack in time is not as good as I remember at all
nexus is ok but nothing special
I'm playing the 3rd game of the original trilogy again, brought my ps2 up with me while i work out of town. i forgot how much fun this series really was, i thought i just enjoyed them because i was young
I remember thinking ACiT is the best R&C game
a crack in time is not as good as I remember at all
I'm getting mixed signals. Why does Crack suck / why is it good?
Faggot & Wank: A Crack Pipe Inside (ur ass)
i forgot how much fun this series really was, i thought i just enjoyed them because i was young
Ditto brother, OG R&C is a series that really stood the test of time, even now after all these years it's still a snort of cocaine in gaming form, so fucking good I'm cumming right now
the core gameplay in crack feels good. it just has barely any planets and they're pretty linear and short. you spend a lot of time just fucking around on the planetoids in space because the actual levels are so sparse.
at least the clank segments are pretty good compared to the other games.
I quite liked the story, hoverboots, moon exploration, space radio, and Clank's gameplay.
2 is the only good one
They can't make soul like this anymore.
This except 1 and 3 are also good
I want to bust out my PS3 and replay the games again, I stopped at Into the Nexus, was Rift Apart good?
from what i heard. its looks good but the story is mid thanks to the characters and the guns are fine
I miss when R&C was a PG version of Borderlands before Borderlands
Tools is just kinda boring to me. ACiT was much more fun. Nexus has an awesome opening but then gets pretty stupid and ends after only like 3 or 4 hours.
Better than ToD but not as good as ACiT
PS2 games still reign supreme
ruins entire fucking game
was Rift Apart good?
They added fucking multiverses, the very definition of creative death, to be given license to reuse and recycle characters and plot points masked with minimal and purely aesthetic changes. Rivet is nothing more than a genderbent version of Ratchet. Also they brought back Nefarious for the millionth time. And now he's also got a duplicate, courtesy of multiverses. Insomniac working on Spiderman exposed them to capeshittery and now it has infected R&C like a cancer. Fuck capeshit, fuck multiverses, fuck Spiderman, decapitate Rivet
I liked these puzzles. Git gud.
Okay but what if I don't give a fuck about any of that and I just want to know if the gameplay is good?
Zoom-zoom!
As a low IQ child I wept when this segment took me multiple hours to get through, I just wanted to save my boy clank
achieveable natty?
Fans of DreadZone, I share your pain for the loss of the mighty Ace Hardlight. I encourage you all to express your grief and sympathy by purchasing this limited edition Ace Hardlight memorial action figure on sale now for only two hundred and ninety-nine bolts.
Deadlocked was something else
You asked if RA was good, I responded. Be more specific next time kid instead of wasting my time, stupid fuck
RC2 was my first game and the Jak and Daxter and RC1 demos on the title screen confused the fuck out of me because they never happened in the game.
All of those anthro platformers suck. There's never been a good one
Am I retarded if Deadlocked is my favorite game in the series?
The Infiltrator is way worse. I always wondered why a game that was rushed out in a year has 2 gadgets which do the same thing.
The tresspasser from RaC1 was the best because it was actually a satisfying puzzle to solve and the pace was totally in your control.
I remember liking the story and general gameplay a lot but there weren't a lot of planets. Being able to actually fly around in space and see the little planetoids was fun. But I also haven't played it since I was 13 or so
Deadlocked is one of the best R&C games. You're retarded regardless
The Clank clones puzzle in ACIT is probably the best puzzle in the series
Deadlocked has gotten more popular recently than before, you'd just be part of a growing trend
For a very long time, it was the only Ratchet and Clank game I played. It was the only one I had as a kid. It wasn't until many many years later when the mipmapping issues on PCSX2 were fixed that I got to experience the rest of the series. So there's a bit of bias there I guess.
nigger
It felt like Ratchet and Clank games vibes change when Tools of Destruction came out. It didn't have that comic book subtle adult humor it had back in the ps2 era. The newer Ratchet games just feel like wannabe Marvel story type games...
Tools is way less engaging than the PS2 games. Not just plot-wise or writing-wise, but also gameplay-wise. It feels like most weapons are weak as shit.
ACiT did mostly fix the gameplay issues Tools had but I feel like the story is still largely a miss. Especially because they resorted to Nefarius because Percival sucked. I also don't like that they started using Nefarius as the Ratchet equivalent of Eggman.
started using Nefarius as the Ratchet equivalent of Eggman
It annoys me that they keep reusing old villains when in the beginning during PS2 era you at least had different main villains for those stories.
The infiltrator is just trial and error and it never feels satisfying to beat one
Talwyn sexo
Basically just another PS3 era game but worse in the following areas
Writing has degraded even more
Music is just as forgettable
Has less planets than any of them, has next to no side content to balance it out unlike aCiT
Weapons are pretty boring
Genuinely the worst arena in a non-handheld game that we've ever seen, even Nexus puts it to shame
The core gameplay is still fine, they even added an i-frame dodge if you're into that kind of thing, but don't expect it to be any better than the PS3 titles
Yeah, that also annoyed me. At least Nexus came up with something more original, even had darker aspects than the PS3 games. Too bad it was too short.
Too bad it was too short.
At least they only sold it for like $30 because they knew no one would be retarded enough to spend $70 on a 5 hour long game
R&C - Drek
GC - Qwark
UYA - Nefarious
DL - Vox
ToD - Tachyon
QfB - Robotic Space Pirate Ghost (?) (lol it's actually Nefarious)
CiT - Nefarious
A4O - "Z'Grute" (really it's Nefarious again)
FFA - Qwark fanboy
2016 - Drek (it's actually Nefarious)
RA - Nefarious('s even more Nefarious counterpart)
I really don't get it.
They no longer have the creative minds to come up with villains like the games up to Deadlocked used to have. Tachyon is pretty much a Disney movie villain, so even if he's technically original, he's neither as memorable or likeable as the others.
I'll give ACiT a little bit of generosity as Nefarious is only the second to last boss. He should have died there though.
puzzle layout is a giant model that floats under the map that the camera has to teleport to every time
infiltrator-chads rise up
Level design went to shit after Going Commando. They're all worth playing but the games after the 2nd one are just completely different games that focus on shooting rather than platforming/exploring. They even got lazy with the shooting/weapons in the recent game where they barely change when you level them up.
You said it yourself, the games after GC started to focus on other things. Just because they wanted the game to play differently doesn't mean the level design went to shit, they just started designing different styles of levels.
I don't think the level design was ever the appeal of the series, anyway. It was the guns/shooting (arguably the best in GC/UYA) and the humor (anything past SM is instantly disqualified)
IIRC in the vita version there are a few infiltrator puzzles that fuck up the camera transition and you can see the level under the puzzle for a second.
I really hope no one's first/only experiences with these games was the vita versions
It definitely went to shit. It was fine for UYA when the guns were fresh but now they are clearly out of ideas for new types of guns and keep repeating the same types of weapons with different skins while the level design still isn't great.
They were definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for new weapon designs by the time ToD came around. But I'd still argue that UYA/DL had good level design in their own right; DL for the memorable arena-style layouts and UYA for its more digestible "guided exploration"
I demand all the games be put on PS5
I demand all the games be put on PC
Jak and Daxter has 3 (three) separate versions on PS5
the only pre-PS4 Insomniac games on PS5 are solely through PS Now
the only pre-2016 Ratchets are the fucking High Impact Games
Insufferable cunt
deadlocked has always been the best game in the series. only the most recent one has come close
Hotter than Courtney Gears. Would.
The biggest sin of Ratchet and Clank games is the same MOTHERFUCKING gun progression every single game.
You can literally play every single game (except for the PS4 game) on PC right now via emulation.
HHHHJuanita!
RC had great music

HD collection removed the Jak and Sly demos
SOULLESS
Tools was definitely an early PS3 growing pains game. Hadn't quite figured out HD graphics yet and forced in bad gimmicks like sixaxis. Story-wise it's very forgettable, and the gameplay wasn't particularly innovative.
A Crack in Time is definitely better than Tools in pretty much every regard, even if it still doesn't quite recapture the soul of the PS2 games.
I'd still like to own the original 4 on pc. Modders could then potentially force in online-enabled coop for deadlocked.
Anyone else ever watch this?
youtu.be
In my opinion, it's a million times better than the movie (despite it seeming like a continuation but down the road). It's a pretty good cherry on top after running through the mainline games (except RA because the girls can go to hell).
The series means a lot to me, but every time I think where's it gone and where it can still go I just get depressed. It really should've ended after CiT or just moved on to new characters completely in the same universe. Or RA should've just been R&C FINALLY finding the lombaxes. They imply they find them at the end of RA so at least the next one will hopefully be the last, or just never comes out so the name isn't thrown in shit some more.
Also,
1>GC>DL>UYA>CiT>ToD>QfB>InT> >fountain of eternal suffering>carcass of infinite sorrow > dog shit > 2016
Wasn't someone trying to do a decompilation for the original Ratchet or did I completely hallucinate that?
This has been my experience, but with a lot of the PS2 library, since PS2 emulation has been shit for years. It's nice that it's better these days, and I can play them again without problems, but it would be nice if I didn't have years of thinking they were ass, barring Ratchet and Clank which I got on the vita.
Also it's really weird that as of around ~5 years ago a bunch of PS2 games I liked got ports to PC
Katamari and We <3 Katamari
Baldur's Gate Deviant Art 1 & 2
Alien Hominid
Nefarious being in QfB and A4O doesn't make him the villain of QfB or A4O, in the former he's entirely there to just to drum up hype for aCiT (which is the only reason QfB even exists, to tide fans over during the wait) and in the latter he's one of the playable protagonists alongside Ratchet, Clank and Qwark.
Nefarious keeps coming back because he's never been killed like Drek and Vox have or willingly given up like Qwark and Neftin have, he was supposed to die in aCiT since that was supposed to be the last game, which is also why Ratchet dies and why Clank was going to stay at the Clock, but it performed too well for its own good, so it wasn't.
which is also why Ratchet dies and why Clank was going to stay at the Clock, but it performed too well for its own good, so it wasn't.
What the fuck are you talking about
They didn't even try in Rift Apart. When you level the guns up in NG+ they don't even get new upgrade abilities in the tree and barely change. In a few of the old games it was worth replaying on NG+ just to see what happens to the weapons.
Son of a bitch that was my favorite part
That's why those fakeouts were made, aCiT was going to be the last game, but they changed their minds and so it wasn't the last game.
Even the box art for aCiT teases that, for better or for worse, aCiT is the end of the series.
Has time run out for Ratchet and Clank?
Saved deep within Clank's metallic memory lies a secret that could split our heroes apart forever...
