Here's my proposal for a 30th Anniversary RE game.

Open world game set in a small town meant to evoke Raccoon City

A former Umbrella underground lab was repurposed as a facility for researching and developing cures for the various ailments throughout the franchise's history (T-Virus, G-Virus, Las Plagas, Mold, etc), and research the physiology of various BOWs.

The villain releases everything in the facility to the town above, causing a massive outbreak of all manner of enemies from the series' history.

The BSAA walls the city in, like they did Dulvey in REVII

The villain, still in the facility, threatens to fire a missile loaded with a new very aggressive and airborne strain of T-Virus into the atmosphere where it will detonate, ride the air currents and spread around the world, and even destroying the missile in flight would cause a devastating outbreak that could easily spread out of control, if anyone enters the town ("The Rock" meets "Escape From New York" meets "Dawn of the Dead")

There is also some VIP (politician, researcher, etc) who went missing during the height of the outbreak

You play from the perspective of a fresh-faced rookie small town cop, meant to evoke Leon in RE2

Early part of the game is exploring, searching the city for survivors/supplies/shoring up defenses/etc

Some buildings serve as mini RPD/Spencer Mansion-esque mini-dungeons (multiple levels, puzzles, etc)

Eventually, you get word of the VIP, and make it your mission to find them

The search brings you in the path of an established series character (I'm leaning toward Jill), who was already in the town before it was walled in, tracking the villain

You decide to work together for a common goal

There will be a Raiden/Solid Snake thing going on, where you see Jill/whoever doing all this badass stuff, while you're still only able to play like a classic survival horror game, barely keeping up

Eventually get to the lab, find the VIP, and the campaign ends

Suddenly, "Scenario B" appears in the main menu

You are now playing as Jill/whoever

It's now closer to an action game, dispatching enemies with far more efficiency, and maybe even fighting more organized enemies occasionally (Ganados, mercs of some sort, etc)

Final action-packed showdown with the villain

Depending on conditions met, one of two endings occur

ENDING ONE

The villain is defeated, the launch is averted, and there is a dramatic escape before the facility detonates, and the city collapses into the ensuing colossal sinkhole

ENDING TWO

The villain is defeated, but they are unable to stop the missile launch in time, and in a Terminator 3 ending, they're only able to look on as the missile detonates, releasing the virus into the air currents

The credits would roll over Dawn of the Dead-style montage of news reports covering the spread of the virus around the world, setting up a possible sequel timeline that would potentially shake up the formula considerably.

My old prediction for 9 was aliens. Think about it, they did Grindhouse with VII, Werewolves with 8, I think they seem to want to explore other horror tropes. My idea was that the Megamycete has to come from somewhere, right? It is the origin of everything, and it's completely mysterious.

Now remember the last cutscene of 8 shows Rose grown up, and her shoes say "Moon Girl" on them. Imagine the next game has little greys be the main enemies, and you fight them in cornfields and shit. Could be so good.

I could see an extraterrestrial bacteria being a cool idea, kinda as a homage to the thing. The bacteria slowly devours the victim and replaces them with a copy but if the copy is compromised it transforms to look like a more humanoid hunter. Plus bacteria haven’t been used yet

I really wished that the remake timeline had gone in a completely original direction after the remake of 3, where Umbrella was still operational, but the RE4 remake completley shot that in the foot.

If there's one thing that shitty Netflix live-action series got right, it's going with a timeline where Umbrella's involvement in RC never became public, and they bribed the government into covering it all up as a devastating gas explosion. RE has just never been the same without Umbrella around, and all these not-Umbrellas they keep trotting out just pale by comparison.

Code Veronica fucked it up too by saying they’ll take the fight directly to umbrella and then nothing. Just make the umbrella chronicles scenario into a full game

Oh, I think I misunderstood some stuff while playing Village. Yeah I think the Progenitor is much older, and it was the basis of Umbrella's research. But Spencer was a student of Miranda's, so that's where my confusion came from. He must have been inspired by her research with the mold. So not the physical source, but the inspiration behind it all, and still the Mold is a really old mysterious fungus.

Set immediately after RE8 with Chris' raid on BSAA Europe

Mia and Rose have been taken by the remnants of the Hound Wolf Squad, explaining their absence from the game

BSAA Europe has, for whatever reason, descended into absolute anarchy resulting in a localized outbreak within whatever area of Europe they're in

Chris starts off in the BSAA HQ but is guided by a mysterious 'friend', who is revealed to have been his informant on the BSAA suppressing what happened to Claire (REv2), the Baker Incident coverup (7), and the usage of Ethan as bait (8)

he has to work his way from the lab like HQ, through a BSAA training facility, and into a manor where he is told he'll find "the one responsible"

in there, Chris finds what appears to be the somehow still living Brandon Bailey, and the two battle in typical RE fashion, concluding with Bailey's defeat and the mansion coming down around Chris, the game ending

after the credits, you receive the notification of 'Next Scenarios Unlocked', and the scenarios presented are:

Jill, cooperating with Barry, fighting her way through Europe during the outbreak and trying to uncover the mysterious contact Chris has been exchanging information with for several years who is revealed to be the still living Albert Wesker

Claire, working her way through the wreckage of the RE8 village as a member of TerraSave, wherein she uncovers the depths of the conspiracy, and discovering the machinations and goals of the parties involved, and is forced to fight the remnants of Heisenberg

Leon, who was in Europe as an envoy of the American government, being led through various 'games' by an unknown party that he discovers is Barry Burton's adopted daughter, Natalia

after that, 'Final Scenario' is unlocked

you play as Jake, trying to save Chris and it culminates in a fight to the death against his father (who wants to die or some shit)

Wesker has been 'helping' Chris because, post-5, he became solely interested in finding ways to break him, recreating the trauma of losing his team via Blue Umbrella, the trauma of losing Jill through Village, and he sets up Umbrella Corps in an attempt to advance viral efforts specifically to that end

Wesker's overall goal is inherently vapid because his reasons for existing were destroyed- he isn't a God and he lost to a normal human with no mutations, and in that sense Chris has become the most interesting person in the world to him. Even he doesn't know if he wants Chris to die, and it's implied he was going to save Chris had Jake not showed up.

Jill has been investigating Chris since he went AWOL at the behest of BSAA higher-ups

she has full trust in him but doesn't understand just who he could be contacting outside the BSAA

her scenario is mostly just cleanup of loose threads while giving a city environment

Claire's scenario ties all of them together, as she uncovers leaked transmissions and files in Heisenberg's various outposts pointing to Natalia allowing Wesker to orchestrate everything, and this is where you get updates on EVERY character, from Billy to Steve's rotting corpse (though with Jake being listed as 'MIA since 2013')

Leon's scenario also involves Ada, and the two are forced to come into conflict a final time as Natalia has hired her as part of the games

the games are extensions of REv2's fear tests, with NatAlex keenly aware of the mistakes in her consciousness transfer with desires to remedy that- and Ada is the ideal subject to transfer into at this time

will end with Ada and Leon abandoning their allegiances to pursue personal fulfillment

NatAlex's consciousness transfer fails and destroys the 'Alex' in her or something
