Every Switch 1 game is going to run without frame drops now, and they're also releasing patches that will increase framerate caps and resolution. There's 100 million active Switch users out there and they already have plenty of games to play.

I'm still confused. If I do a system transfer, does it move all the games over too? What if I don't have enough sd card space? Can I no longer use my switch 1 without internet? If I just log into my account on the switch 2 without a transfer, can I use both machines without internet?
You might not need to do one. The purpose of a system transfer is mostly to transfer ownership of the device. After you do the transfer, your original Switch will be wiped blank, and your account will be removed. But it will transfer your saves, games, screenshots, and profiles to the new Switch.
Now, if you have a Nintendo Switch Online sub, you should probably just log into your Nintendo account and set the Switch 2 as your new primary console. Then you can redownload your games and cloud saves. Especially if you're keeping your original Switch.

You're buying a whole new console for a variety of reasons. Most of them can be summed up by saying that people expect Nintendo to repeat their performance of the past 8 years. They expect a regular stream of eye-catching exclusives, every indie game under the sun, and a selection of current-gen and last-gen console ports. The promise of that is bringing people to the table.
To be honest, this entire discussion is moot. It doesn't even matter if the launch window is good. Even if you don't like Mario Kart, everyone knows there's much more coming. and in the mean time, robust backwards compatibility is a huge value add, especially when it comes with performance upgrades.
