I kinda remember the broad strokes of Jugdral and like those stories on a vibes/emotional level. But there's something lame in the storytelling of most FE games. I used to think I just didn't like story in vidya, but I played Danganronpa 1 recently and thoroughly enjoyed and understood the story and characters there. It's like the back end of Echoes plot proves all the noble villains earlier right, just they're all 6 feet under by the time the game shift. Alm is deemed that blood really makes the difference and that only he can free Valentia from being ruled by 2 dragon gods... to being ruled by 1 family for 1000 years due to his dragon blood.

What's the point of attempting to push a moral about class equality when the "commoner" hero is secretly the highest class above most of the nobles? Why have a Story about Alm proving doubting nobles wrong, when IS just gonna turn around and say "Yeah actually Alm's blood is the important factor and only he deserves to rule a whole continent". If they weren't dead characters like Desaix and Slade would probably think Alm does deserve to rule the continent. Fernand would have never left the deliverance if he knew Alm was who he actually was.

Both sides have a very loud aesthetic going on to look uniform to each other so their outfits end up disinteresting me, and otherwise their designs tend to be really loud compared to Awakening. You are missing the forest for the trees. Alm's story arc is less about him being a commoner and more about him struggling with Zofia as a kingdom. A lot of the story is spend dealing with the fact that it's ultimately little better than Rigel and the fact that the people there are classist assholes is part of that. Besides, Alm in both social class and upbringing pretty much was a commoner and that is why he can ultimately end up saving the day.
