Can someone recommend a game that focuses on the dungeon crawler aspect of Dark Souls 1 rather than the combat. My favourite part of this game is getting lost in the world and not knowing how to get out. I've played plenty of metroidvanias but I'm looking for a 3D game which gives this feeling regardless of genre.

Deep Down
sounds like Deep Down
unironically lords of the fallen
Have you heard of Deep Down? Deep Down is a narrative roguelike deckbuilder about emotional resilience. Restore your relationships through card-based dialogues, express, transform and even repress emotions conveyed through cards, and confront buried memories to break the cycle.
All my friends are following it!
Legend of Grimrock 2
Hey OP, you should loock into Deep Down. It's gonna be the next big thing so everyone I know has already wishlisted it.
This! Anyone else pumped?
15 rupee shill army
another one for the word filter I guess
I'm interested too OP. Don't know why you thread is getting shilled.
Might give it a try, saw tons of bad reviews but they were all focused on combat and bosses. Everything I heard about the exploration sounded quite good.
IDK either.
bumping for interest, also i cant tell whether this is actual shilling or post post irony humor
It's not even shilling, sensless trolling as "Deep Down" simply does not exist.
very good game
Tomb Raider on the PS1. stick with the jank and I promise you'll get the same feeling, its levels are deep and intricate. I'd recommend playing on Duckstation and abusing save states a little bit
maybe Arx Fatalis. King's Field IV might be another good one since the combat isn't really the focus
It's not senseless, It hurts my heart every time I see the name. I just wanted to dungeon crawl with bros.
If you want to play something ass, then there's The Brand New Quest in Ehrgeiz.
Might and magic 6
Legend of Grimrock 2. Made in Abyss game to some extent. System Shock Remake (I guess the original one as well) should satisfy your getting lost criteria, but actually there's a lot of combat too.
Does it have to be fantasy? Singularity is a FPS that has you exploring an abandoned 50 year old Soviet-style complex.
There's a lack of this in the soulslike genre because making a boss rush is much easier than making a good world
Seconding Lords of the Fallen (2) (2023)
Damn that's kino. Gives me Dark Messiah vibes.
Arx fatalis I hear is good.
Regardless, there ain't many games like that. Its interesting with dark souls that the most appealing part of it is it's world, but everyone focuses on combat. Yet the combat really is very rudimentary and easiest to replicate while the world is the hardest part for any game to create, especially of this kind.
Xanadu Next and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (but really only the DLC dungeon, Bitterblack Isle).
I'm finding Asterigos has pretty similar level design to DaS1, but it's like 2-3x bigger for no reason so it sucks to run around and the combat/encounter design is bad.
Also if you go far enough into Obduction you'll start having to use the dungeon crawler part of your brain
King's Field
hollow knight is the only similary-styled game whose world compared to DS1 to me
pic related is a simplified/detail-less map of each of its regions, its very interconnected with way more route variety than dark souls 1 (after you get past the more railroaded early game, kind of DS1 being linear until parish)
why is this not the first fucking reply
I've been sleeping on Xanadu, it looks like exactly what I've been looking for.
Have a look at Exanima
shadow tower
Arx Fatalis
Bleak Faith Forsaken is the only non-from soulslike that nails the exploration and world design aspect.
Lords of the Fallen 2023
the only combat I despise more than soulslop is square dancing
I've played plenty of metroidvanias but I'm looking for a 3D game which gives this feeling regardless of genre.
Read the entire post, hollow brain.

Indeed, and also people jerk themselves off over difficulty when IMO Dark Souls 1 wasn't even difficult in terms of combat or bosses it was more about being alone in the world. I love Lies of P for combat but it's world is even worse than Dark Souls 3.
Ty for the recs anons, got a lot to go off of here.
Demon's Souls, it's Dark Souls with way simpler combat but the levels are actually dungeons
King's Field IV is THE game you're looking for.
Just trust me.
Demon souls.(3d)
Mortal shell.(3d)
Hollowknight.(2d)
Unepic.(2d)
Darksouls 2 etc, failed that feel for me. Unepic hit me the best.
but really
