Was Superrad right? Is Fallout a series about deconstructing capitalism?

Sort of.
Being set in the United States, or what's left of it, kind of necessitates exploring why things fell apart, and what role capitalism and consumerism played in it.
But Communist China was also a major contributor to the great war so I don't really think the intent is to point the finger squarely at capitalism. It's a critique of the hubris and recklessness of the leaders of nuclear powers, people who fucked around only for the whole world to find out.

midwits be like

THIS GAME IS ABOUT CAPITALISM BECAUSE ITS CRITICIZING IT

Oh uh, a distinct lack of media literacy in this thread

Is Fallout a series about deconstructing capitalism?

It's more a decontruction of the USA and its many failing ideologies. USA glorifying capitalism and capitalism feeling mocked in Fallout is simply a result of America being a capitalist dystopia.

Sensible answer: it’s about a lot of things. Genetics, politics, capitalism, society, a lot of things.

This was one of the funnest things to happen in years. Imagine your absolute dead-set, certified reddit university media literacy take gets irrecoverably owned by BOTH halves of the franchise.

Fallout is about the inevitability of conflict, be it over resources, territory or ideaology

There's a reason a lot of factions are based off historical ones

actually it is a super capitalist franchise. they turned it from a nuanced rpg to a looter shooter because that sells better

Yes. The whole retro futurism thing is very hauntological with cold war fears and sci fi speculations, and the whole concept of well off people surviving MAD in vaults is a pretty clear critique of the power structures, and the reemergence of capitalism in the wasteland sees the system as a sort of inevitability

Yes.

No :)

They don't know what they're talking about and death of the author and the fandom supersedes them and Fallout belongs to us not them.

beautiful

you love to see it. I want to take a mallet to someone's fingers whenever they say "media literacy"

If it was there would be more factions that try to embody its flaws, like the Gun Runners or Mr. House (Who comes off more as a classic monarch trying to hold together different "noble families")
I'd say fascism is critiqued way harder with all sorts of racial purists trying to cleanse the wasteland with their "perfected ubermenschen" and the indictment of America (or China)'s imperialist tendencies

Why does the success of Tim Cain butt ruffle the chapped ass of those who failed to measure up?

Let's be clear about one thing. If the author agrees with me and you come to the opposite conclusion, it's lack of media literacy. If the author disagrees with me however and you come to their conclusion, it's death of the author. Sorry but that's how it be.

Media literacy

Me good, you bad. You also bad if you agree with me but not with everything. that bad.

I just thought it's about how fucked up humans are before and after the apocalypse... I guess I'm stupid

And we agree with tim cain on this

Because envy is the driving force of leftoids

It was just "war bad". It even tells you in most of the games intros.

how do people still pretend capitalism is better than communism with how expensive basic things like housing and food are getting

capitalism being shit doesn't make communism any better than it
both are shit

Because expensive housing and food is sometimes still better than no housing and food.

Because it can exist and function unlike communism.

That’s retarded.

civilization falls

every institution gone

no hegemony in the world

A true year zero like commies always want. Everyone reverts to a free market.

Sounds like it’s saying capitalism is the natural state of men.

I thought the point of fallout was nailing innocent peoples heads to walls with the railway rifle. Guess I need to work on my media literacy

I thought the point of fallout was nailing innocent peoples heads to walls with the railway rifle.

Nope. Never happened in any Fallout.

Todd kun...

Capitalism and communism are the two sides of the same international jewish coin.

It's disappointing that when a soiboi is asked about what capitalism is, what alternatives there are, and what is a more oppressive system it's always

money

no money, everything is free

there is nothing more oppressive

“Muh capitalism” is always such a room temperature IQ story analysis. It’s like saying a story is about “the human condition”.

It's disappointing that when a soiboi is asked about what capitalism is, what alternatives there are, and what is a more oppressive system it's always

Offtopic :/

OP

hey fallout = capitalism bad, your opinion?

Me

capitalism bad is stupid

You

woah woah woah off topic!

People who talk about whether or not Fallout is a critique of capitalism don't actually play the game beyond spending 6000 hours creating villages in FO4 or adding animation mods to FNV they'll gawk at for 40 seconds and then ALT-F4. Fallout is mass market product designed to sell copies just like every other even slightly popular media franchise.

I understand that you suck massive amounts of cock daily and subsist almost entirely on a diet of semen and multivitamins, but what does that have to do with Fallout?

You think homosexual thoughts unprompted a lot, that's interesting

When you say “us,” who do you mean?

It's called critical literary analysis sweetie, I analyzed his post and figured out what he was actually trying to communicate to the readers

This
Fallout is about isolated incompetence of vault 13 and then isolated incompetence from The Master
Faggots get the vat

make a post emulating fuckwit normalfgs

normalfags fall for it

Bait used to require effort

literally any piece of media: exists

retards: UHH THIS IS ABOUT CAPITALISM BEING LE BAD!!!!!!!
