If it makes you feel better, the engagement-optimized matchmaking probably kept matching you with shitters because you kept requeuing so you could keep the better players enjoying the game by letting them shit on you. By continuing to play, you proved to the algorithm that you were willing to continue losing, so it kept letting you lose. In these cases, the literal only winning move is not to play.

ActiBlizz has patents on exactly this kind of tech. Maybe they don't use it but there's no good reason to assume they don't. People who consistently lose matches and keep playing are obviously engaged enough to keep playing despite repeat losses, so they can be used as a resource to get other people hooked on the grind.
