Then they switched renderer, and that's how we got the E3 2014 look. Then after that they downgraded the game, which is why the lighting, foliage and landscapes look so flat in the vanilla release

I think this is an inherent issue with the franchise because The Witcher as a story and series is very character-centric, as in the only thing keeping it seperate from most other fantasy is its own cast that it has developed from the books. Otherwise it's just a generic medieval fantasy world and you'll be left wondering why didn't they just create a new IP that would allow them even more freedom.

I got completely immersed when playing Witcher 3. I was basically Geralt for the month it took me to beat it and the DLC, I've yet to have a game grab me the same way since. I'm not going to be able to do the same with Ciri so I'm a lot less hyped for Witcher 4 than I should be.

I liked the Ciri sections in Witcher 3 because they broke things up and she was broken as fuck but I dunno, I just don't think the immersion will be the same if I have to play as a girl.

It's obviously not running at anything close to 4k in the demo. My eyeballs say 1080p internally AT BEST, but this is base PS5 with Lumen and Nanite, so it's to be expected, and even impressive when you compare it to any other UE5 release.

I'm hoping they use a non-Lumen RT/PT approach for PC in the final game.
