I’ve tested all the meme guns, Medicine Stick, This Machine, etc. Survivalists Rifle actually is the best DAM to DPS ratio small gun in the game. Along with the Riot Shotgun. High fire rate. High damage. Fast reloads. Related perks. Medicine Stick is good but the reload time kills it. This Machine is simply overrated. AMR is a one shot pony so you need explosive rounds to make sure you get the one shot.

357 is good for early to mid game but starts to trail off. I mean as long as you do damage you can beat the game. The 44 magnum Trail carbine is a better mid to late game weapon, plus it has a scope. But end-game cowboy is clearly meant to be 45-70.

They definitely gave ammo types tiers, with "cowboy" going 357 --> 44 --> 45-70.

Anyone else give the least amount of shits about the "Fallout" aspects of New Vegas, and just like it because it's a big open world desert-cowboy adventure-rpg game? I sorta feel like New Vegas should have been its own IP. We probably would have gotten a proper sequel by now. I like the Stalker games for similar reasons, but there's no character progression and customization.

There's little in-game reason to prefer the 357 over 44. The handloader rounds for the 44 reduce DT by 6, and a 20% bonus, to a weapon already having more damage. Few enemies have serious amounts of DT as well, meaning you can mostly use Hollow point anyways.

Yes, the actual math works out that you do more DPS than the anti-material rifle since you fire faster.

I never realized how thematically perfect it is if you give Boone "That Machine" and Manny "Pacienta".

I don't think Manny has an actual mission where he could use it, other than a rare chance of a raider wandering into range (never scripted and could happen randomly).
