I enjoy never being able to truly fall into a lull of build or execution security, and needing to scrounge and make short term/long term/greater strategic decisions and comparisons. I enjoy making decisions that make me have to consider if my execution skill can handle worse conditions for more gains, and I enjoy giving all the little guys names and thinking about their labors and aspirations. It brings me joy to improve their living conditions by my labors, and I enjoy the angst of sacrificing their well being for the greater good, when I would hardly bat an eye at sacrificing my own.
These are a handful of the reasons I enjoy this game. It's not my favorite, but I do quite like it.
