It's not actually him causing the crash anyway, it's one of the traders he acts as an intermediary for. One of the items in their trade menu is bugged and so if you try to access it while it's currently on offer (as the items cycle every few hours) it crashes. It also crashes if you go to that guy directly instead of using Nata as an intermediary.

They'll follow it up with an even more touching story that has him be the next (You)'s mentor, like poetry and he'll be known as the guild's current top hunter and everyone will think he's cool

In a monster hunter game. They're using moralist bullshit plot points to drive forward the story. An element which should never be the center-piece of any game in this franchise.
