Runescape 2. Starting out from nothing is a slog, but then you get into a groove and make a lot of progress relatively quickly that unlocks a lot of new stuff. That feels good. Then your stats get high enough that the gaps between levels and the number of levels between interesting unlocks gets so wide, it feels like you're just doing busywork for busywork's sake and no matter how far you get or whatever new things they add, it never feels as good as it did when you were on the lower-middle of the ladder.

I think that digging = grinding, and the diamonds = reward for grinding. So it would be a game where grinding is fun and even if you drop the rare item you need you still continue to grind just for the sake of it.
