By the time I got to her I had 100hrs clocked in and was exhausted with the game. Spent 2 hours trying but eventually wanted to be done with the game so I summoned the wolves to split aggro and beat her first try.

I don't PVP. Its just a great sword you can get fairly early in the base game. Once you get blood tax ash of war on it the game is over.

Doesn't matter, blocking Waterfowl still trivializes the fight and makes it impossible to lose, unless you're really bad at video games. The fact that you don't even need a shield to do it makes it work on pretty much all builds too.

Bleed is pretty mid. Bosses become resistant quickly. Melenia is way more vulnerable to stagger or magic.

I did a few months ago. It took me an entire afternoon. It's really fun learning a boss' move set and seeing yourself get further and further. I don't know why people cheat themselves out of that by summoning or looking up guides. I just used the crescent axe, my favorite weapon

I thought that too the first time I beat her. The second time when I told myself I'd beat her in a way I felt was "fair" no matter how long it would take I realized that she's actually very fun to fight. I still don't like her spazz move, but there was a lot more counterplay to it then I thought

Personally my problem with her is that i feel like i'm constantly holding my breath waiting for Waterfowl Dance. I can even play around her ignoring poise breaks in certain animations but that one is too much.

using a shield in this fight is the right way to beat her, the shield is an objective disadvantage as she recovers HP even if you block her attacks and your stamina bar goes down in 2 or 3 hits. rolling is an exploit for casual shitters because you can spam it, take 0 damage and it costs a minimal amount of stamina.

I unironically believe in the "you didn't beat X" meme. And it's not just summons, it's using a guide to make a meta katana build, it's reading online that Malenia is weak to frost pots, etc. Reading that frost weakness online and using it instead of experimenting and finding it yourself is worse than summoning. Trying out the many options in Elden Ring is part of the fun.
