Modern MS is an objectively better game mechanically and visually (though obviously it has its own shitty problems, Nexon themselves being one of them).
This server isn't going to last once the handful of obsessed/nostalgic old heads got their fill and come to realize they're adults now and can't afford to commit to spending 2 hours for a single level in 2nd job and quit/go back to Royals/Legends/whatever shitty private server is currently popular. Not to mention that it's going to eventually, and inevitably, be plagued with the same gachashit/FOMO trash that infested modern MS.

No they don't. PvP isn't something you just slap into a game and expect it to work. It needs to be in the design blueprint for a game, designed with it in mind from day one. Maplestory was not one of those games, which is why every attempt at adding PvP failed miserably. The PvP arena was a shitpost fest and Carnival PQ was almost exclusively a win-trade situation to maximize EXP gains (hence why CPQ2 was barely touched).

PvP isn't something you just slap into a game and expect it to work.

No it can't. The aiming and hit detection would have to be recoded from the ground up, and even then everyone that isn't an Assassin or Mage is completely SOL. The classes, the mechanics, the very foundation of how the game works on a fundamental level, were NOT designed with PvP in mind.

perfect patch to stop playing is korean folk town after the aqua road patch because aqua road was is the final good patch in the history of the game. it is literally the peak of the game and is just downhill from there like falling off a cliff endlessly.

I wouldn't want to play MapleStory again as an adult though. I started playing it when I was 8 or 9 and a lot of the enjoyment I got from it was from being lost in the world and not really understanding wtf I was doing.

Don't worry, despite royals having all the backported content from post-BB, they still don't have PB. They also never fixed HP washing and in fact made it worse, you can't leech anymore. Enjoy doing your 30 minute daily quest to get +10 HP. Only 24k HP until you can clear Auf Haven!

You're still going to be gated by 1x EXP unless you shell out hundreds of dollars for 2x exp cards. Then you're going to be fucked even more by the brick wall that is the 70s-100s range when enemies start doing 10x the damage of before and your gear becomes exponentially more expensive, especially getting your ilbis. Then you will get to endgame and realize that because you're playing NL and didn't have people around to leech your useless 200 INT ass for the first 100 levels, you won't have the MP needed to wash up to Horntail HP and your character is bricked. And even then you're looking at thousands of dollars in AP resets to wash up to that point.

Have fun. There's a reason why this official will die out as soon as people hit the wall. 1x OSMS is great up until you get to 50s onwards.

The people who say Assassin is expensive are minmax fuckers who want to play with as low a DEX stat as possible. You are unironically fine with using a basic claw + Subis for a long time, though obviously if you can get better stuff then you should. You'll just have to farm them yourself. Get enough DEX for a Meba, 100% it, and that'll carry you for a good while. Farm for your stars (Kumbi are very easy to get because Fire Boars drop them and that's a great leveling spot for 30s) and glove scrolls. You'll be fine.

Grinding is the side activity/minigame that you take part in next to the main reason people used to play the game: AIM/MSN with colorful cartoons. Old MMORPGs were hangouts first, games second.
Discord exists now, so classic MS has zero reason to exist. Makes me wonder what made Nexon cave into making it considering how rigid their stance was about it never happening for so long.
